Poor Arthur. It could be a reaction to the heat. TMI, but I always get a dicky tummy with the runs when it's hot for a prolonged period of time. The vomiting might be something though. Just before a BBQ... They do pick their moments.... Is the nursery willing to reschedule another tour? Or will you get one as part of his settling in days now?

I was reading some of the antenatal threads the other day in a bout of nostalgia. How is it nearly a year already?...

What cake are you getting? I think DH will make Alice a cake, or we'll get one from the supermarket.

Really hoping the weather breaks tomorrow. Alice's night time sleep has been more shit worse than usual. I need a sleep of more than 2 hours please!.... T_T

Horehound · 11/08/2020 21:51

Hi @dyra :) how are you?

Well, I'm in North East Scotland and we haven't had it so bad here. Around 20-25deg so I don't think it is the heat. I called Dr today as he has had three more doses of the runs and they've said to take in a poo sample tomorrow. That will determine if it's a bug or not.
The other thing I was thinking is we had given him cows milk for the first time. Well, we gave him 50ml one day then waited a few days then gave him more so that's the only things that's different and in between the two days he had pooped ok.
The nurse said they can get the runs with teeth and that it's common but from what I read online is that it's just a coincidence the two happen together.

I will just go to the first couple of settling in days and ask all my questions then I think. I mean I have no other options now anyway just would have been nice for us to all go together.

The cake is going to be Ra Ra the noisy lion theme. As soon as I sing the theme song Arthur looks at the TV lol.
I am a good baker actually and should just make it myself but ach, I don't have time.

Yeesh two hour sleeps that is so hard...poor you!!

Dyra · 11/08/2020 22:45

Thanks for asking. I'm tired. And hot! It's purely because of the heat Alice's sleeping is bad. Her day time naps are ok. At night she's waking up most of the time when I try to put her back to bed. I had to abandon her to cry at 5am after she woke up for the nth time within 2.5 hours of trying to put her back to bed.

I agree, it probably isn't the heat (forgot you were in Scotland! 🤦🏻‍♀️) Poor wee lad. At least once the sample comes back, you'll know what's going on.

Not heard of RaRa the Lion before. Hey Duggee is Alice's jam. She laughs and claps to the theme music. Huge fan of the Duggee hug as well. Unfortunately, we ran out of episodes today. Tried Bing, but she didn't care. Will try RaRa.

Horehound · 12/08/2020 01:27

Oh poor Alice. Hopefully it cools down soon. Oh yes we watch he duggee too but only seen about 4 episodes. I hated Bing. He's so whiny!
Arthur hasn't really managed to clap or wave yet although just yesterday he was kind of copying me waving his arms about. He took two steps though! Was mighty pleased with himself hehe.

I just had to deal with 1am skitters. Not cool. Although he went down quite quickly actually but oh my god I feel so tired. And when I brought him through for a feed his leg was all stuck in his baby grow which is why he was awake and crying in the first place. Then I thought hmmm smells like poop. Asked DH and he's like "just smells like wee to me" then fell back to sleep so I used my phone torch to check. Poor we soul he had fallen asleep in our bed and stayed asleep whilst I checked but then he sat upright and was giving me all the lovely smiles and trying to touch my face. Can't believe he went back down so quickly.
Now I'm just awake and feel a bit sick so I'm thinking maybe it is a bug.

Dyra · 12/08/2020 13:05

Hope you got back to sleep ok, and you and Arthur are feeling better today. Hope it's not too stormy where you are.

Horehound · 12/08/2020 16:40

Well actually we had thunder and lightning all night although that didn't bother Arthur luckily. It sounded like the end of the world so I was awake another hour and a half.uft i have a pounding headache today. I did manage an hour to sleep when he napped later in the morning. Since then I had to take a poo sample to dr Envy not envy! And then had to get a prescription for myself which they said would take an hour so had to traipse around the town with Arthur in his pram
Omg so hot but he coped really well.

Thank you guys! We've had a lovely day celebrating. DS obviously doesn't really have a clue but he's enjoyed seeing some friends and eating some cake!

Stroan · 15/08/2020 23:18

Aww, Happy Birthday little one. I can't believe that's the first of the birthdays from our antenatal threads. Feels like a lifetime ago and also like it was just last week!

Horehound · 17/08/2020 19:09

Stroan must be partied out lol
Arthur had his first haircut today. We took him to the barber whilst my husband wanted a haircut. But he used a shaver and Arthur was pretty terrified. Wee shame. The guy said shaver would be safer and he was probably right but it was quite an ordeal.
He's happy again now though thankfully

Stroan · 17/08/2020 19:25

Yes, it was DSs first birthday yesterday, thank you for all the messages. My last baby is one! It's been a crazy week, DD started school last Wednesday and I'm officially back to work o Wednesday but I'm on flexible furlough.

We had a great weekend, trip to a local safari park on Saturday and garden party on Sunday. We had a bouncy castle for the older ones and told people just to pop by for a little while so it worked really well.

I can't believe that's the birthdays started. Covid aside, I have loved every minute of the last year with DS - he is a lovely, happy and contented wee boy and so much fun. And the end of maternity leave doesn't feel so bad this time because I know that there's loads of really awesome stuff to come Smile

Aw that's lovely @stroan. Sounds like a perfect birthday weekend. Was it Blair Drummond's you went to? I want to take Arthur there.

He has his first settling in day at nursery tomorrow. It's just an hour and I get to go in too.

Dyra · 17/08/2020 21:36

Ooooh exciting. Let us know how you both get on tomorrow @Horehound. I bet Arthur looks like a new baby with his brand new haircut.

Glad you and DS had a lovely weekend @Stroan.

I want to take Alice to a safari park now. I bet she'd get a kick out of seeing monkeys climb across the car.

Stroan · 17/08/2020 22:57

@horehound yes, we are only about 20 mins away so have an annual pass. Honestly, it was too busy on Saturday and we didn't hang around as we can go back anytime. But he loved the lions and monkeys. They have a new dinosaur exhibit with anamatronic Dino's which is also fab.

Hope your settling goes well. Our first three were awful until DH started taking him. Now I don't know when he will actually be starting. No point if I am on furlough.

Your weekend sounds lovely stroan.

We had the first of three settling in sessions on Friday for an hour. I wasn't allowed in and quite literally had to hand him over at the gate which was awful for me but he was completely fine. He loved every minute by the looks of his Tapestry account. He does now have a stinking cold though ....

Horehound · 18/08/2020 16:48

Well Arthur had the opposite experience and I was allowed in. The babies were all crying, I didn't find the staff very comforting tbh and Arthur was terrified.
So I came out feeling physically sick and told my husband he can do tomorrow but as far as in concerned I'm leaving my job and staying home with my baby.
I won't actually but I'm now looking into a childminder and also mum has said they will take him if required...maybe not for five whole years but at least for a while.

Poor soul he was clinging onto me. One baby was screaming her head off and it was scaring him. She even toddled to me for a cuddles, I picked her up and sang to her because none of the staff were! One baby was laying on the wee sofa sucking his thumb looking traumatised.

Basically, I fucking hated it. I hope it is as bad tomorrow for my husband so we are on the same page. If it's much better then he won't see my side

iano · 18/08/2020 20:49

I'm so sorry @Horehound
Were they settling in more than one child. Maybe try another setting or CM. I hope you get it sorted soon.
Happy birthday to all the 1 year olds!! Cake

Horehound · 18/08/2020 20:53

Yeh we will try again tomorrow and if it's better than today we will stick with Thurs and Friday too but I don't hold out much hope so disappointing as the nursery did seem amazing. Pretty sure it was just Arthur settling in but I think some were still pretty new to it. Wee shame. I really felt for the young baby that I had to pick up. When they were all sitting around the table for snack time she started crying and the caregiver was like "no it's snacktime, I'm not picking you up" heartbreaking really. I'm glad I managed to give her a wee cuddle at least she will have got some love today.
