I got another good 6.5 hours then a feed then another 4.5 hours. I feel loads better today!

Geegrl19 · 18/06/2020 09:37

Ooh, I love the taste of kids meds too I used to love the taste of antibiotics when I was a kid 😂good luck with the yoghurt

So we finally got home at 4.15. I had 2 1/2 hours sleep and then got up for work. I'm not sure how I'm still standing. 8pm bed for me tonight. I'm taking all precautions and staying away from ladders, not putting umbrellas up indoors, avoiding black cats and anything else I can think of. Only Friday to go now. I hope we make it unscathed. DD much more comfortable now. She has antibiotics and has kept the fluids up. She never does anything by half that one, lol.

Dyra · 18/06/2020 10:36

@Geegrl19 OMG yes! Banana flavoured amoxicillin. Yum yum. Absolutely amazing you still went to work after all that. Make sure you stay away from salt and mirrors too! Have a good sleep tonight. The weekend is nearly here.

@Horehound We didn't need to try the yoghurt in the end. We did have another unsettled night, but no pain cries. Glad Arthur gave you a good night's sleep.

happydays00 · 18/06/2020 11:13

@Geegrl19 omg I missed your update re your DD1. You poor, poor thing. It never rains it only pours hey? I hope you have a restful weekend planned and can get some sleep??

Horehound · 19/06/2020 15:40

So Arthur last pooped on Monday and then again today but it was hard putty like!
I just do not understand this because we are still giving him the lactulose twice a day and he's having a good variety of food including prunes, pears, brocolli, kiwi, strawberry and nectarines.
He has eaten Thai curry, mince and rice, pasta with veg, yoghurt.
I just don't understand this!

Megan2018 · 19/06/2020 15:47

How much does he manage to drink @Horehound? I know I have had issues with lactulose myself, if I didn’t drink enough it made things worse.
That said though, it should be pretty solid now, I’d say Felicity’s is putty like too (but she does 3+ daily).

Megan2018 · 19/06/2020 15:48

@Geegrl19 Oh gosh! What a horrid time you are having!! So sorry to hear and hope you have a run of better luck to follow!!

Horehound · 19/06/2020 16:19

Oh right so putty like is normal? I think it's maybe a bit too hard though. But other poops he's done have been super super soft although maybe that does have to do with the water. Thinking about it he had one day of drinking loads and the rest just only ok so maybe that is a factor. I'll keep an eye on that then and see how it goes

db92 · 19/06/2020 18:26

Ellis drinks a lot of water everyday and has prunes daily. His nappies are never overly soft. Like Megan, I think putty like is relatively normal for Ellis now due to the solid foods.

Horehound · 19/06/2020 18:49

Hmm ok so I imagine the really soft ones were due to the medicine and then this week because he hasn't drunk so much it's actually normal or maybe slightly on the hard side.
He has eaten probably more than usual for him so maybe with that plus slightly less water has done it.

PollyRoe16 · 19/06/2020 20:02

@Horehound have you tried weetabix? Arlo was going days without going and now he's every day sometimes ever other but seems so much better when he has weetabix most mornings.

In other news made the mistake of keeping Arlo up for
Too long so he could see his dad before bed. Then took an hour for him to go to sleep 😩 now I feel bad because I shouted at him out of frustration 🤦🏼‍♀️

Horehound · 19/06/2020 20:37

Aw listen don't worry I am sure we have all done that.
Just give him an extra big cuddle in the night :)
Yes, tried weetabix and he did used to love it but now refuses it and refuses porridge :( I even bought bulk of weetabix and have 96 packs of it and I think he ate half one one brick LOL check out my weetabix drawer HmmGrin

The bitesize shredded wheat are popular here too, softened in a bit of milk first. She loves taking them out the bowl.
That’s quite a weetabix haul there, but at least it keeps a long time Smile. I’m a cheap skate and got own brand Grin

Megan2018 · 19/06/2020 23:29

Big news for us this week, Felicity now sleeps in a cot!!
We have been bed sharing since birth and she didn’t have a single sleep (day or night) in the bedside crib or cot. But she has got really dangerous with bed rolling and crawling in so I rook the plunge on Tuesday and it’s been actually pretty easy so far.
We have had a few tears, and I miss her dreadfully at night even though she’s only a few feet away (cot in my room). But she is definitely ready and can self settle 80% of the time. I never leave her to cry though so get up if needed. She still has 1-2 feeds but that’s the same as bed sharing and I think it will be consistently 1 soon.

She doesn’t need any form of comforter yet and has never had a dummy so if her sleep carries on like this I’m happy as they’ll be nothing to try and remove later. I do still feed before each nap/sleep but not feed to sleep, she goes down awake. It’s not perfect but not bad Smile. The first night it took 1.5hrs to get to sleep but now only 25 mins.

I always thought the bed sharing was right for us but had this tiny nagging doubt that I’d ruined her chances of sleeping alone forever but seems not. Phew!

Geegrl19 · 20/06/2020 02:35

Oh wow @Megan2018 that's amazing. What a great job you've done. Now if Felicity could only tell Nate how to self settle!

@pollyroe16 don't feel too bad. I have a tell too sometimes as I'm so frustrated as Nate's such a shitty sleeper. It's debilitating. I'm sure the mum guilt kicked in and he got extra cuddles.

@horehound. Impressive Weetabix draw! You know he'll probably go back to loving it very soon! Does his harder poops bigger him at all? Perhaps he's just not a frequent pooer? They are so hard to figure out aren't they

As for me I'm very impressed I made it through the rest of the week unscathed. DD is feeling much better. I never knew tonsillitis could be so nasty. They did the awful covid swab too as procedure and that came back negative which I was pretty confident it would.

Hopefully next week is a lot calmer!

Horehound · 20/06/2020 08:35

@Megan2018 that's great you have her in her cot now, clever girl! We are also still around two feeds but occasionally it's one. I do have his George giraffe in his cot as he seemed to like it but actually he doesn't need anything and no dummy either. I never leave him to cry much to my mum and grans confusion Hmm I'm just not going to leave a baby, who obviously just wants a cuddle, to cry!
Well done though, that's a big step. I had to put Arthur in his own room at 5.5months because DH kept snoring and waking Arthur up! I did love the bed snuggles though and very occasionally I'll feed Arthur on his side on my bed and if he falls asleep well,I just snuggle in too :)

I do buy own brand too but we have barely been to shops and the local fruit and veg monger whose sole business was delivering to restaurants now delivers to households and they have loads of stuff in bulk which I bought because it's cheaper and we do have the space. And I did think we'd go through them all quite quickly but alas...no.. One thing's for sure, Arthur may not be regular but I am Grin

@Geegrl19 mmm I do seem him trying to poo and it not happening but that last one happened in his sleep. You're right, it might just be his normal and the Dr said that too but because I have seen him sitting straining I am convinced it is constipation.

I actually had the night from hell last night. I started feeling a bit sore and achey making dinner then when we were eating it I felt worse and by 9.30 I took myself off to bed as I felt so unwell. By the time I got into bed I was shaking/shivering and had to call my husband to come up and try to heat me up. I was absolutely frozen and he couldn't! I was laying completely on top of him and he was very warm but I just couldn't heat up and then because I was shaking I couldn't sleep. Tool paracetamol and finally started to calm down. Fell asleep and Arthur woke for feed! Just managed to do that and then had a good long sleep )thank you Arthur) and woke up feeling quite good again.

What the hell is going on??

Dyra · 20/06/2020 11:20

Did you take your temperature? Since you're feeling ok, it might just have been tiredness hitting like a truck.

One thing is that Arthur might be straining when he wees. Alice does on occasion. No UTI, it's just something she does.

Horehound · 20/06/2020 12:09

Yeh I did at was 36.4 I usually sit at 35.6 so was slightly raised. I feel a bit stiff in my neck and a bit tired.
My mum is convinced it is tiredness. Maybe so.

Interesting about the weeing. I have seen him start and stop his pee but no discomfort showing.

He did a rumble when he was having brekkie with DH today and dh said oh he's done a poop...but no poop! DH said he'd have put money on there being one because he went bright red straining and then heard a big poopy noise. But no :( he did it yesterday too. Looked all worried and needing to hold onto something. I gave him my hand and then he let out what sounded like a poop but again was just a fart.
But DH did comment today that it must be him not drinking enough. I think it must be too now, it just can't be the food.

kyles101 · 20/06/2020 14:17

DS poo is now quite hard though, like a normal adult one. I guess as he's eating 3 meals per day and snacks if needed. Milk just first and last thing, he kept refusing at any other time and I got bored trying to fight with him over it.

He actually squatted in the bath the other day and did one... I was in there too! Thankfully they are hard now as I could scoop it out - literally he poo'd into my hand - god - what has my life become 😂

He's on 2 per day now, I'd say the main things are fruit with every meal, plenty of water and steer clear of too much fibre. Good for adults not so much for babies.

kyles101 · 20/06/2020 14:18

And @Horehound I really Hope you're feeling better?? What an odd thing?

Horehound · 20/06/2020 14:56

I do feel better thanks but not quite right. I felt really good this morning but starting to feel a bit crap again. It must be tiredness. Or a virus but I've really not been many places at all or seen anyone really. The odd delivery driver leaving stuff at the down and one time I went to the village post office :s DH and Arthur are fine.
They've gone on a walk so I can rest but I'm just having a break from hoovering. I'm my own worst enemy!

What's everyone got for father's Day? I got DH a bottle of chateauneuf de pap wine, a large toblerone, some pastries for brekkie tomorrow and a card which had a collage of photos of DH and Arthur and Arthur helped write the message :)

kyles101 · 20/06/2020 20:07

No hoovering!! Sit down woman! I've recently got one of those robot hoover / mops, it's amazing, I love it!!

I got DH a duvalay. It's like an overpriced sleeping bag but he's wanted one forever and he never really treats himself so 🤷‍♀️ and a moonpig collage card. Think we'll have a drive out to hunt down a KFC for dinner 😂

happydays00 · 20/06/2020 21:19

Ooh @kyles101 does it hoover and mop?! My mum has a robot hoover and that's amazing but I'd love one that mopped too!

We've had a breakthrough (for now 😂), DS has been sleeping through this week, but waking early. Not sure which I'd rather as it just makes it such a long day.

DH doesn't have a present yet for Father's Day, he basically whines about how these days are "non events" and doesn't want anything so I've just given up. I did make a card with DD earlier to give to him and might make him a nice breakfast but other than that nothing for now.

Megan2018 · 20/06/2020 21:54

It’s great isn’t it @kyles101
How did we manage without it?!!

I have a card for DH and a huge tub of jelly beans. I’ve also ordered a special father’s day afternoon tea (take away) from our local garden centre. We have had DH’s birthday and our anniversary this month so rather short of ideas! Especially as DH is so hard to buy for.
I will also make him breakfast Smile

Dyra · 20/06/2020 22:31

DH asked for a hand puppet for him to play with Alice. He didn't want a card.

I'm making him a lasagne for dinner, and also some homemade "fudge". It has zero resemblance to actual fudge, but it's what he calls it so... shrug.

A robot that hoover's and mops! I need one! It's my birthday in a couple weeks.... Grin

Alice's poops are still quite soft and.... identifiable.... Envy(not envy) TMI, but she did a two toned one earlier. Half was greeny brown and half was red (paprika, not blood).

Your DS certainly relaxes in his bath @kyles101!
