@happydays00 yeah, definitely - he cries as soon as i walk away from him. I didn't realise it was a thing around this age, I thought it was earlier? Will look into it, thanks

Horehound · 15/06/2020 20:57

Oh @kyles101 Arthur is crying every time I go out if sight. So deffo a thing right now.

Horehound · 16/06/2020 07:19

Omg Arthur slept for 7hours 40mins straight!

Dyra · 16/06/2020 15:39

Well done Arthur!

I had a thumping headache last night, so was in bed by 9:30. Only had wake ups every 4 hours and Alice slept in until 8am too. Felt like a new woman this morning.

Horehound · 16/06/2020 17:50

Ot makes such a big difference doesn't it?!

happydays00 · 16/06/2020 19:05

@Horehound does he have much fruit and veg on the days he is constipated? My DD suffered horribly with constipation - it was really stressful. Sometimes she would literally be screaming in pain and some of the lumps of hard poo that came out of her were truly traumatic for everyone!! At 3.5 now she's almost the opposite and poos effortlessly at least twice a day; we found what changed it for her were heaps of fruit and veg and lots of water. Does Arthur drink much water yet?

@kyles101 I haven't really done any research on it so I could be wrong but I'm sure both of mine (and lots of friends) all found around 9/10 months is when they are particularly wary of being passed to "strangers" to hold and when you leave the room.

My DS has been treating me to 5:30am starts to the day this week. It's literally the earliest that he's ever woken for the day and it's floored me. I would much rather get up to him in the night and him then sleep past 6:30/7 than sleeping through to 5:30 and then being wide awake. I'm hoping it's just a very short lived phase 😬😬

Horehound · 16/06/2020 19:51

@happydays00 he wasn't say about four weeks ago but recently he has really ramped up how much he is drinking. He loves fruit...it's the only thing i can always get into him!

Dyra · 16/06/2020 22:21

I think I jinxed myself..... Took 2 hours of cuddles and boob to get her off to sleep. Which lasted all of half an hour. Pretty sure it's teeth.

Bonjela (teething variety) doesn't seem to have made much of an effect. Couldn't source children's paracetamol suppositories from local pharmacies. I'll try Nurofen later if she's still restless, but bitter experience says baby will still be screaming, and there'll be projectile vomit to clean up.

Dyra · 17/06/2020 07:20

Could have been worse I guess... Awake every 90 minutes, but they were her usual wake up cries. She was easily boobed back to sleep as normal too. I have a weather leg, so whatever was going on with the air pressure last night meant I was the one needing pain killers to sleep.

@happydays00 Hoping DS is treating you to a later wake up time this morning. And will continue to do so.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 17/06/2020 08:52

@Dyra We have similar here - she wakes frequently but feeds back to sleep and will go back in her cot so it could be much worse. However I would love more sleep 🙈

happydays00 · 17/06/2020 08:54

@Dyra have you used the suppositories with her before? Was it ok? When DS had his ear infection he started to refuse calpol / projectile vomit with it so I asked the doctor to prescribe suppositories. From his reaction you'd have thought I was asking him to prescribe my 10 month old some crack.

DS, remarkably, slept until 7 this morning (probably something to do with the fact he only slept 2 hours from 5:30am yesterday 🥴 That said, DD treated me by coming into our room at 5:45 instead of her usual 7 😂 it's like she knows somehow!!

Dyra · 17/06/2020 09:30

I haven't sorry. I'd seen them mentioned a few times on threads and wanted to try them to guarantee Alice got something of the dosage. Alice has always: spat out, retched, and/or outright vomited with Calpol/Nurofen. Fortunately I haven't needed to administer many times.

Naively, I thought suppositories would be easy to get. Only from over the counter, but still accessable at least. The looks of horror I got from the pharmacists were very bemusing. A quick online search didn't bring up much either. Annoyingly, prescription really might be the only route.

Oh no! Did she come in to sleep with you guys, or did you have to get up?

Dyra · 17/06/2020 09:33

These are what I've managed to find. But at £20 for 10, prescription is still the better route!

happydays00 · 17/06/2020 15:32

@Dyra the doctor was trying everything he possibly could to not prescribe them- he also said they can be very uncomfortable afterwards but as I said to him, I can't risk being in a situation where I'm left with a baby with a temp of 39 and in severe ear pain with no way of getting pain meds into him. You wouldn't do that to an adult, hell you wouldn't even do that to an animal, so why would you do that to a baby? Thanks for the link - it's pricy but I'm going to get some in to avoid this situation (and conflict) again!

No DD was sent back to bed with some water until the sun comes up on her gro clock!

Horehound · 17/06/2020 17:40

@dyra do you use the syringe or a spoon? We switch it up but mostly if we let Arthur hold the syringe he's fine with it in his mouth and then we do short bursts of it into his mouth. He especially likes the orange nurofen over Calpol!

Well, I woke up with a headache and then have felt progressively awful all day. I had to call my husband home from work at 1pm because I've felt so bad. My jaw is so tense, headache pounding and a feeling like I'm going to be sick.
I feel a bit better now u had a sleep but the headache will not shift and in starting to feel ill again. Wonder what's going on.

Had a terrible night's sleep with Arthur too after the previous night of bliss!

Geegrl19 · 17/06/2020 18:26

Someone up there is laughing at me. Ive just spent up till 3am in emergency with dd1 with a raging case of tonsillitis. First time she's had it and it was really bad. Come out the hospital at 3am and my car won't start. Currently waiting for the racv to show up. I think my battery has died. It's official, life has bewten me these past couple of weeks. What have I done to deserve all this 😭.

DustyDoorframes · 17/06/2020 19:16

Oh @Geegrl19 not fair!!!!! Hopefully that's your bad luck (and DD's!) for the year out of the way now??? Argh!
Hope the RAC have sorted it out by now and you are heading home. Grimness!!!!

Horehound · 17/06/2020 19:25

Oh no @Geegrl19 you are really having a time of it. What a shame and poor dad with tonsilitis. It's awful.

iano · 17/06/2020 19:48

Oh gosh that sounds awful! @Geegrl19
Hope Dd1 is a bit better now?

Dyra · 17/06/2020 20:11

Oh no @Geegrl19. It truly never rains but it pours. And you've had far more than your fair share of torrential rain. It can't last, and it won't last. I hope you and DD are ok and you all, at the very least, got some sleep this morning.

Dyra · 17/06/2020 20:41

@happydays00 That's so mean of your GP! If the oral route isn't working, then use an alternative! That's basic medicine! Don't just shrug your shoulders and insist on oral meds or nothing. Angry Grrrrr. Hope you managed to get some more sleep after DD was packed off back to bed.

@Horehound That sounds just like my headache from the other night. Hope it's better now and Arthur gives you a decent night's sleep.

TBH I haven't tried spoons yet, and Alice does like handling spoons.... Problem is, is that I think her issue with medicine, is the flavour. Though, her being more in control might help. I didn't know they came in orange flavour! Definitely the next step now, if spoon doesn't work.

At least I like strawberry Calpol. So it won't go to waste. Grin

Horehound · 17/06/2020 20:57

@dyra Lol he's I have been known to finish off the medicine if I've not managed to give a full dose

The other thing I do which is mainly for the constipation medicine is mix it in with some yoghurt. Always works :)

Dyra · 17/06/2020 21:35

Well that was a mighty facepalm I gave myself.

Yoghurt! How the hell did I not think of YOGHURT! The one foodstuff that goes down without fail. Her love for yoghurt is such that I worry it outstrips her love for me. Terry loves yoghurt? No, no. Terry only somewhat likes

Dyra · 17/06/2020 21:36

*yoghurt compared to Alice.

Horehound · 18/06/2020 08:23

Lol hehe well that's good you have something to try now :)
