Lol @kyles101 re catching poo. Indeed, what have we come to 🤦

Horehound · 21/06/2020 16:38

Hoover/mop sounds good! A moover! Lol

I ended up hoovering the whole house including stairs. God hoovering stairs is the worst job.
I'd love a robot but I think all my hair would just get choked up in it.

Feeling not bad today! And Arthur has done another poop so deffo getting more frequent!

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 21/06/2020 21:21

Catherine has just the last two evenings refused to settle until past nine. She doesn't seem grumpy but struggle to believe she's not tired! Wondering if it's the heat! Anyone else had similar!?
Hope you feel 100% soon @Horehound

kyles101 · 21/06/2020 21:58

DS has only just gone down - he's been wild tonight!! Has got a worm type commando crawl down though so he's pretty pleased with himself.

Yes, hoover and mop, moover lol!! It's so good, almost to the point where I wouldn't need a cleaner if I went back to work full time... almost! I think you still need to do a proper hoover and mop every couple of weeks but it keeps on top of it. I usually set it going if I'm off out and then come home to lovely freshly hoovered floors!

Settling in day for DS tomorrow morning 😞 he's so ready for some time with other babies though. And I'll be staying tomorrow so should be ok.

Horehound · 22/06/2020 12:54

Hope he enjoys it today! I bet he sleeps well tonight!

Geegrl19 · 22/06/2020 13:23

Glad you're all better @horehound

Hope settling in day went well @kyles101

happydays00 · 23/06/2020 06:26

@kyles101 how was the settling in day?

Do people have much of a routine for their little ones? If so, can you share? It's becoming pretty obvious that DS does not need as much sleep in the day as he's getting because then he's only doing 9-10 hours at night. Yesterday we did this:
6ish wake
9:30 nap for 30 mins
1 - 3:30pm nap (I woke him at 3:30)
7ish tried putting him down for bed
8ish asleep

But he was awake before 6 this morning 🤦🏼‍♀️

db92 · 23/06/2020 06:50

We have a pretty settled routine although nap lengths vary most days.

Wake up at 6
Nap 9-10 (some times a bit longer)
Nap at 2/2.30-3.30 (I don't let him sleep any later than 3.45)
Bottle and book at 6.45. Asleep by 7.

We've found that he's waking up around 5ish this last week but is still so tired. I think it's because the sun shines right into his room in the morning and his blind just isn't good enough

Dyra · 23/06/2020 09:24

Hope settling in day went well and DS had lots of fun @kyles101

How's DD doing? Did you have a good weekend @Geegrl19? Very much hoping this week is the complete opposite of the last!

Our routine is very much dependant on when Alice wakes up. Sometimes she gets up as early as 6, sometimes as late as 8. It's usually between 6.30 and 7 though. She can't stay awake longer than 3 - 3.5 hours.

Today she woke up at 7, so her routine will be:

Wake at 7:00
Nap at 10 (wake at either 10:45 or 11:30)
3 - 3.5 hours after her wake up; second nap.
45 - 90 minutes later wake up
Stay awake until settling down time at 19:30
Asleep by 20:00

Megan2018 · 23/06/2020 12:15

Our wake up time varies hugely from 6am-9am but we follow the 2-3-4 sleep schedule roughly.

So first nap is roughly 2hrs after she first wakes, 2nd nap is 3hrs after she wakes from nap 1. Bed is 4 hours after she wakes from nap 2.
On a good day this is:
08:00 wake, milk, play, breakfast, washed, dressed, teeth
10:00 milk and nap
11:30 wake and go to stables
1:30 lunch
2:30 milk and nap
4:00 wake and play
6:00 dinner
7:30 get ready for bed

happydays00 · 23/06/2020 13:01

Thanks all. I used the 2-3-4 with my DD and it worked great, in fact we barely ever made it to 4 before she was conked out in the evening. DS has this weird stamina in the afternoon so it took total persuasion to get him to sleep nearly 5 hours after his waking from second nap yesterday and I'm sure he wasn't tired enough and that's why he woke pre 6am yesterday. Sigh.

I'm trying a shorter nap this afternoon so we'll see what happens. Babies, hey?!

Geegrl19 · 23/06/2020 13:59

@Dyra DD all.good now. Dd2 has it now though but is nowhere near as bad. Fingers crossed for the rest of the week not going downhill, lol.

Nate had a bit of a nosebleed in his cot last night (think it was a gross sneeze). Put the blind up and it looked.like a crime scene 🤦. He's ok though. Sneezed some more today and no further blood. Weird. He's also blown raspberries all day long. So funny.

Our routine varies in wake up time but follows a rough pattern

8-9.30am wake (earlier on work days)
Dressed, breakfast, play
11.30ish nap - half hour average
Lunch, play,
3.30ish nap. Probably only half hour again, an hour if I'm really lucky
Then is through to 7pm for bathtime routine and into bed by around 7.30

He really does whinge a lot though through the day though cos he's so bloody tired as he won't nap long enough, sigh

Interesting to see everyone else's routines. I'm very jealous of the 1 1/2 hour naps that are going on 😆

kyles101 · 23/06/2020 14:01

2-3-4 here too, although who knows how this will change once nursery starts

He's been a superstar - first alone session today and I don't think he noticed I was gone, when I picked him up after an hour I got a quick kiss then he was reaching to go back in 😂 I don't think he'll struggle at all thankfully.

happydays00 · 24/06/2020 06:53

@Geegrl19 gosh that is a long day with just 2 x 30 minute naps 😬 how strange about the nosebleed I bet you got a right shock!

@kyles101 great news re the settling in day, hopefully that will be him sorted.

Well, either a complete fluke or the new sleep routine yesterday worked:
9am - 30 minute sleep
12:15 - 2 hour sleep
6:45pm - in bed asleep and still sleeping now at almost 7am 🙌🏻🙌🏻 please let this be the start of consistently good nights sleep 🤞

Dyra · 24/06/2020 11:45

Oh wow @happydays00. Good job! Everything crossed it stays that way.

@kyles101 Glad he's settled in very quickly and enjoyed himself.

@Geegrl19 Oh no to DD2 catching tonsillitis and Nate's nosebleed. Nearly halfway to the next weekend!

DH has the week off next week. We're (hopefully) going to the zoo! Grin

Horehound · 24/06/2020 13:29

Lol I've never heard of this 2,34! Arthur usually naps 2-3 hours after he wakes then is awake 3 hours and has a nap for around an hour then is awake for 3-4 hours so I guess we are doing it, I just didn't know it!

Yesterday he was really grumping, teeth hurting him. Not his usual self at all. I had my brother and his gf visit and he was so off with them I actually felt a bit embarrassed because he is never ever grumpy!
Everything he usually does went out the window. Had to give calpol and nurofen. Anyway at night time he went down around 7 and woke for a feed at 10pm then 05.30am then slept in until 08.30
He was only awake 2.5 hours now he's napping for two hours....I've just left him cause he's obviously needing it.
I want to go to my parents garden and see everyone again though so I was kinda hoping he'd be awake by now!

Dyra · 25/06/2020 00:10

Somebody turn the UK's thermostat down please. It's 28.5°C in Alice's room. She has a fan, naked + nappy, and the window open, but still it's hotter than Hades in here. Poor baby.

We also made the mistake of having the windows open and the lights on downstairs earlier. Literal swarms of crane flies in my living room. Had to take the vacuum to them. Sorry neighbours...

Geegrl19 · 25/06/2020 04:13

@happydays00 great sleep for you. Did it happen again last night?

@dyra the zoo sounds fun. I'm hoping to take the kids to brid world in the hols which is near us. Hope it's not like a scene from the Alfred Hitchcock movie 🤪😆

Megan2018 · 25/06/2020 07:23

Felicity slept 9.15-6.30!!!!
Took 2hrs to get her asleep but yay! First sleeping through ever.
My poor boobs though, she cluster fed all day so one extreme to another! Shock

Dyra · 25/06/2020 09:48

Well done Felicity! Now you've done it once it'll be easy to do it again!

Alice did exactly the same last night, except the sleeping through part. 90 minute wake ups culminating with a 5:45 wake up. She's just woken up from her first nap after only 45 minutes. Today is going to be a long one....

Megan2018 · 25/06/2020 09:57

@Dyra we only had 45 min naps yesterday and a very early start.
Today though she went straight down for first nap and is approaching 1hr now so hopefully a better day.
Hope it isn’t too bad for you.

She’s just in a cloth nappy and 0.5t sleeping bag. I don’t think I’ll bother dressing her today. Paddling pool and shade I think.
She us devouring watermelon like a possessed thing lately!

Dyra · 25/06/2020 11:55

I couldn't find watermelon at the shops the other day. Sad We love our watermelon in this house. Fortunately I did manage to get some grapes and mango. But watermelon would go down a real treat right about now, before we melt into puddles.

I haven't bothered getting Alice dressed today either. Too hot. Garden is a sun trap, so today is going to be an indoor day.

Has anyone watched season 2 of Babies on Netflix yet?

happydays00 · 25/06/2020 21:21

@Geegrl19 sadly not 😂 last night was his worst night in weeks. I'm really hoping for a better night tonight from both DS and DD (who I found on our bedroom floor playing with the cat at 5am 🥴)

I have a huge phobia of birds so bird land sounds 😳😳 to me.

@Dyra hope you have a better night tonight 🤞 haven't seen season 2 of babies yet, it's fascinating stuff though isn't it?

Dyra · 26/06/2020 07:50

Not a great night for us. Nursery was 30°C! Alice slept from 19:30 right up until 23:00, then had 2 hourly wake ups. So, so tired. I made DH get up with her so I could get a little bit more sleep.

Hope your night was better than the previous @happydays00. Love the show, but I always get a bit of a complex watching it. Always feel like I've neglected, or not done enough to encourage that episode's topic.

happydays00 · 26/06/2020 09:19

@Dyra oh god, 2 hourly is awful!!! Hopefully the weather will cool down a bit from today and you'll have a better chance of sleep tonight! Haha I know what you mean re Babies but I'm sure you're a wonderful mum and there's not even a tiny smidge of neglect in your approach. When it came to the 9/10 month health visitor questionnaire I had to attempt a lot of the questions as I just sort of leave DS to it. Definitely no practicing of lacing beads etc 😂
