elkiedee · 02/09/2007 23:16

Welcome back SOL, hope tomorrow goes well.

Sorry to everyone who's feeling down one way or another.

LW, hope your dh is ok, and that your kids get better quickly. Wanting to look after them yourself when they're sick sounds perfectly reasonable to me

dp and I went out today, home a little earlier than yesterday but I was still really hungry so have been putting D to bed, eating etc, and my friend round the corner rang to see how we were doing.

dp's mum is due to be seen by a hospital consultant tomorrow, so maybe we'll get more idea what's happening. dp is insisting that he doesn't want to stay overnight, but I thihk if and when she gets discharged home at some point he should probably plan for that then, and go up regularly for day return visits in between. D & I should have a bit more going on to occupy us the next few weeks.

Bedtime already, pretty much! I've decided that I need to take more notice of my body saying it's tired, and go to bed earlier, the way I did in pregnancy. I'm sure that I'll feel better able to cope with what life throws at dp and myself like that.

elkiedee · 02/09/2007 23:26

Dippy, will you be having to come through London or is there a way of avoiding that? And how does Eastbourne connect up with other train routes?

If you do need to come through London, the Thameslink, or now First Capital Connect route, from Brighton via wherever comes into Kings Cross - it's a separate station but is only 2 minutes walk from the mainline station where you can get trains to Cambridge. The difficulty is that if you're travelling with a baby in buggy, the KX Thameslink station has quite a lot of steps up from the platform

elkiedee · 02/09/2007 23:32

Enjoyed looking at the new photos, SOL's lovely daughters and oooggs' bump. Thanks both for sharing.

Morning! Just popping by on my way to the shower ......

I do hope it is good news for your MIL today, Elkie - do let us know when you do ..... You'll be fine if DP has to spend some time with his mum in the next week or so - these difficult times pass so quickly! Wise words about listening to your body more - I need to do that too - although atm that would entail sleeping all day!!

How's everyone else?? What plans?? DD! at nursery this AM and seeing a friend this PM; DH has meeting tonight so I hope they'll be someone around to chat to after 8pm as I'll be lonely!! xx

Eddas · 03/09/2007 08:00

hi ladies, haven't been on for a few days so haven't caught up.

I had a bit of a funny day on friday. DS woke at 5(which was nice) so I was very tired. I got in a bit of a state. Basically needed a rest. So after crying I rang MIL to ask if she could have dd one day this week so I could have a rest. As I was still upset I ended up crying at her on the phone. So she told me to come straight round. When I got there MIL and step-FIL told me I was leaving dc's there until Sunday I repeatedly asked if they were sure and was told yes you obviously need a break.

So I left them, went home for their bits, went back to MIL dropped stuff off and then headed into town for some dc free shopping, bliss!

On sat, after 9 hours sleep, which was just what I needed, dh and his best mate stripped our dining room. It actually looks better stripped than the crap decor the previous owners left Then I had a tidy up. Dh went to footie in the afternoon and I was totally alone.

On sunday we had a lazy day, went to Wickes to buy tiles for the bathrrom. All that needs is a plumber and tiler and it can be done, yippee! But need some money for them first

We went and pick dc's up at 5 on sunday. It was so nice. MIL told me not too wait so long again Bless her, she's so very nice. Think they feel for me since my family are useless on the babysitting front so know it's just them. If only mum were still here things would be so different

And it's now only one week til our holiday woo hoo. DH has two whole weeks off and when we get back dd will be back to preschool(such a relief)

Ooo and dd starts swimming lessons on wed. I feel so sorry for whoever has to teach her She's a lovely little thing but can talk the legs off you and will be super hyper as she's been asking to go to swimming lessons for months.

sorry for the long post

Hope everyone else is doing well. Good luck to those with dc's strating school this week. Can we have school uniform pics please They will look so cute

mammyjo · 03/09/2007 08:18

Morning all. Popping in quickly as I can hear F starting to squeak!

WCL, poor Leo and the pox. At least that explains why you have struggled with him at night for the last week. Hoping he settles down quickly for you.

WO, how is the feeding going? Think about you regularly. F actually took a bottle yesterday. Very relieved as I am back to work a week Friday so she needs to do it!!

Pesha, hope you are feeling ok today. PND is a hideous thing. I seem to have escaped this time (so far). Look after yourself xx

Luce, glad your dh is ok. Must have been awful stuck at home not knowing what was happening to him.

IDOC, hope you manage to get to the gp this week. Its hard enough looking after two children when feeling reasonably well!!

SOL, welcome back. Glad you had a lovely time. I love the Isle of Wight. Used to go there a lot for summer hols as a child. Lots of fond memories B looks lovely. Ds back to school this Friday - starting reception. Cant believe a whole year has gone by since I was posting about him starting nursery.

Oooggs, if I forget to say it tomorrow, hope you have a fab holiday. The park looks lovely. Crossing my fingers for you that the weather is nice xx

Katy, hope you are feeling ok today.

Knackered here this morning. F has been waking several times a night lately and it is starting to take its toll. Cant even imagine how you must be feeling leaky.
Plan to start giving her more food in the day and see if that helps. Cant believe she is over 5 months already.
Have a good day all

mammyjo · 03/09/2007 08:19

Morning eddas. Lol at pinching cheeks!!

StealthPolarBear · 03/09/2007 08:33

Morning everyone

CaptainDippy · 03/09/2007 09:26

Morning!

Sooooo pleased you had a lovely break from the DC's Pesha - sometimes it take you to reach breaking-point for others to understand where you are coming from ..... unfortunatly for me, I've reached breaking-point a couple of times and it hasn't made one iota of difference!! The most pro-active thing MIL has ever done is 'phone the local mental health team about me!!! Thanks a lot. Sigh. Did they have D too?

Sorry - whoops, I apologised .....

Is anyone else having the same probs as me ...... I am v.fortunate, P takes breast milk from me or from a bottle quite happily; but I've tried to give her formula on a couple of occasions (to give my poor boobies a break and to know that someone would be able to take her for more than a couple of hours sometime .....); but it seems too rich for her and she just pukes it all back up every time .... Am I alone? Any suggestions??

{{{{hugs}}}} for you mammyjo - perhaps an extra bit of food for F during the day will help her sleeping ..... P was started to get later, but has started waking up obscenely early again.

Hi SPB!

Eddas · 03/09/2007 09:30

CD, maybe it's the type of formula she doesn't like Perhaps try a different one? You can buy cartons which maybe best if you want to try a few. I now a lot of babies struggle with SMA, it's quite rich. With dd we used Farleys, she had no trouble and ds has aptamil and has no trouble.

Eddas · 03/09/2007 09:32

CD, sorry you don't get any help from MIl and that she called mental health, blardy cheek I think all mothers of under 5's are slightly bonkers totally the fault of the kiddywinkles My MIL said that once you've had kids you get hormones that make you go a bit nuts and cry for no reason or at silly things(cute bunny on tv kinda things)

CaptainDippy · 03/09/2007 09:46

Yes, every mumyy to an Under 5 is most definitely a bit bonkers, Eddas - completely agree with you there!! I've sort of gotten used to the outlaws being so rubbish, doesn't stop it hurting sometimes though!!

Sigh.

You culd be right baout the formula - am trying Hipp Organic atm, might try something else, but don't want to "choop & Change" too much - it is a lot for a little digestive system to take, iykwim!!?

CaptainDippy · 03/09/2007 09:49

Right, just re-wrapped P and settled DD2 - hoping they'll both give me a little break now. DH & I are both very tired atm and our tempers have been very frayed, esp this w/e. Feel sorry for our 3 little lovelies - horrid mummy and daddy! Sigh .....

More pics of DC's in cute 1st school uniform please!

nappynuttynormabutty · 03/09/2007 09:50

Lovely photots SOL

GRR @ your MIL CD

Glad you got the break & sleep you needed Eddas.

Hope your dp's mum is ok Elkie.

Hi to everyone else!

zazas · 03/09/2007 09:53

Morning all.
That sounded a wonderful break Eddas - I have always thought that when I am a grandparent I will so make sure I can do things like that, it just makes such a world of difference to a mother's sanity! Sorry that you can't get that sort of help CD. I hope you start feeling a bit better. I have never used formula so don't have anything to suggest. Could P have a milk intolerance though??
Maveta - just read about your Dad - I hope all goes well for him, it must be a worrying time for you all.
I don't know who stealthpolar bear is ???!!
Elkidee - when do you go on holiday? It must be soon?
Hi mammyjo - my dd wakes several times a night (always has!) - so you have my sympathies!

Had a major yuck night S had a fever all night of about 102, just enough to worry about. Spent the night dozing and checking her (she was in bed with me), rang NHS direct at 5am just to be reassured, which I was. Managed to get it back down but she is not herself the poor wee thing, flaked out beside me now. No idea what is going on as the vomiting etc had stopped. Oh well, last day before school starts so we can take it easy and the sun is shining!

Eddas · 03/09/2007 09:54

ISWYM about changing but guess sometimes you have to try a few to find the right one. One of my work friends went through nearly everyone(her dd had terrible colic) and eventually(after MONTHS) the doctor gave her soya milk and she was much better with that. FWIW Aptamil is supposed to be like breastmilk not sure I believe that but most babies i've heard that have it don't seen to have trouble with it. Hope you find one that she can keep down.

They're such complicated machines these babies

I woke up this morning to the sound of ds having a poo straining away, bless him. Thought that I was gonna have an exploding poo but there was hardly anything there how can it be such hard work when it's not even solid

Oh, just realised, i'm poo talking again

elkiedee · 03/09/2007 09:59

Morning all

Eddas, how lovely of your MIL.

CD, sorry to hear you're not getting much support, hope things do pick up for you.

CaptainDippy · 03/09/2007 10:06

SEE - I have proved it - I AM bonkers (must be cos I have 3 under 5!! ) Further down I meant Eddas, NOT Pesha (though I am sure Pesha would LOVE for someone to come & take her 3 for a couple of days!!) SORRY!

Bonkers!

I tried Aptimal before and from what I remember, it was ok - will get a little carton thingy today and try it again!!

Anyone using Hipp Organic 1st Milk want a big packet of it - Think I'll just get rid - Let me know if any of you do and it's freeeeeeeeeee .....

Oh Zazas, poor poor S Hope it is just a quick sort of bug thing & she is over it soon. Hug. Hug. Hug.

Hi Elkie! Any news on MIL today so far?

elkiedee · 03/09/2007 10:12

Zazas, we're due to go on holiday 3 weeks tomorrow but I'm getting a bit anxious about whether we'll be able to. Feeling very selfish for thinking it but it could be our last holiday abroad for some time, and I've been planning to go to this event for over 4 years.

runnyhabbit · 03/09/2007 10:37

Morning all

Am waiting in this morning for fecking recovery company to come a pick up dh fecking broken fecking van. This weekend has been a complete write-off. (Apart from my dad putting coving up in what will be the boys bedroom)
Dh got a replacement van on Sat, but had a call out while him and his boss were picking it up, so he didn't get home til 6pm. Worse thing was, dh didn't bother to tell me that he was on a call out, wasn't answering his phone, so had no idea where he was
Then, he had to work yesterday (do the job that he was meant to do on Sat) And have just been told, he might be away tomorrow night, but he's not sure.

And W is screaming, because he is tired and will not give in to sleep.

What is it with men - They should do what women tell them to!

runnyhabbit · 03/09/2007 10:41

Dippy I can take the Hipp formula off your hands W wolfs it down (have started giving him a ff after his bath - does seem to make him sleep for longer) How much do you want for it?

StealthPolarBear · 03/09/2007 10:46

Hi again, just popping in as going shopping
(I'm Katy44 btw )

UnderPesha · 03/09/2007 10:52

Morning all

CD You had me very confused, we were at MILs yesterday and I was racking my brain thinking what did I say last night?! Yes I would love someone, anyone, to come take my dcs away for a few days
I've never tried giving D formula but DP has and he said he just throws it all up again so we have same prob here. I've got SMA gold because I bought the individual 4oz sachets so I can use it as I need it rather than opening a whole tin and having to throw most of it away after 4 weeks when we've not used it. But I suppose cartons would solve that as its only for occassional use.
N starts school tomorrow so will post some pics of him in uniform then, so far have only tried him in bits one at a time, not brave enough to see him in he whole lot at once yet!

Think I was abit tired too last night. When we got back I went out and got washing in off line, came back in, took it up at bedtime thinking oh theres not much in there for a change, oh well. Came down this morning, looked out the back and half the washing is still on the line!!! How the f#@* did I manage that??? Its a rotary line, I took it all off one side and left the rest there! Think Im going mad!

Off to try and see if I can put a video clip from my mobile on photobucket of D being terrorised by a snarling monster otherwise known as dp snoring!
