What about gin and a dash of orange squash (concentrate) Daisy....mmmmm

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/09/2007 21:34

Gin and orange is the work of the devil ...it'e gotta be tonic, or bitter lemon at a push.

Options are apple juice or lemonade...so I settled for a Pimms and lemonade. I even put some cucmber and mint in it cos i is rally rally posh like that

Your go holly!

loonylovegood · 05/09/2007 21:36

If I was pg I would send my dp out for a bottle of bitter lemon now! Alas I'm not, so I don't think he'd buy the puppy dog eyes and fake tears!

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 05/09/2007 21:44

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/09/2007 21:47

Holly you could always tell him you think you might be...and you need a voddie bitter lemon to help you with the shock

Disclaimer....drinking in pregnancy may harm your unborn baby, but it is an informed choice based on lifestyle choices and health risks....

loonylovegood · 05/09/2007 21:50

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/09/2007 22:06

Update on child on windowledge trauma. Apparently the wee fella climbed out the open kitchen window, walked along the ledge at which point people in the street spotted him, shouted to him to stop and sit as he was wobbling about. They had to go into the building, chap on the doors, wake up the mum (tho possibly was auntie) who was asleep & tell her the kiddie was on the ledge.. The wee boy was taken away by social services but is back home now.

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/09/2007 22:10

bloody hell. he is one lucky little fella.
i fell asleep on the sofa once when DS was about 18 months old. i woke up when he took my glasses off and was standing twisting them into a big knot....I lived on the third floor with a balcony and the door was unlocked, so ther but for the grace of god...his poor mum/auntie will be beside herself.

loonylovegood · 05/09/2007 22:11

Shit tallulah! That's really scary!

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 05/09/2007 22:17

tallulah...how are you doing without your DH?

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/09/2007 22:22

Hey Daisy - we are coping, guess just get used to it really. Forgive me for asking something you have already posted but what treatment did u get for thrush? Am still having pain with feeding - more so after feeds. Thought must be thrush after all so went to GP.
Me: Am having pain after b/f, could i have thrush?
GP: Some people just not very good at b/f. I mean, I was rubbish at it myself. How old is she anyway?
Me: 11 weeks.
GP: Pah! I'd given up well before then. How long do you really want to do it for anyway?
She then gave me script supposedly 'topical' but when had it filled was cherry flavour oral suspension. She defo said to put it on my nips. Surely some mistake???

loonylovegood · 05/09/2007 22:27

What a stupid bitch T!! My gp suggested I top up with formula! My ds is now the approximate size and weight of a small horse! They do spout a load of garbage sometimes! See your hv, she might be a bit more useful!

OP posts:
loonylovegood · 05/09/2007 22:29

Glad you are coping ok though. I know it's probably really difficult on your own, but maybe you can think of it as having one less child to look after. That's what I think when my dp isn't here!

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 05/09/2007 22:31

oooo this is one for mears/tiktok et al on the BF threads. I'm at your GP. I'd report her for bein unsupportive. You'd kind of expect more from a GP wouldn't you?

Basically you should get fluconazole tablets for up to 10 days, daktarin gel for your boobs and nystatin suspension for LO (although someone posted on my thread the other day that the LO should get Daktarin as well, as the nystatin (that's the cherry stuff) takes longer to work.

My HV gave me This advice from the Breastfeeding Network.

Are you still in touch with the team at QM? the BF counsellors there should be aware of the latest advice and could perhaps prescribe the right doses. They could also check your latch to make sure that isn't the cause.

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/09/2007 22:36

I think I must be blessed here in Leeds with supportive and understanding medical professionals. My MW was instrumental in setting up the first baby cafe and my HV is an NCT trained BF Champion. My surgery are also very good where mental health issues are concerned and every mum gets a visit post birth from the HV team's mental health nurse. One of the docs is also pretty clued up on BF issues.

Glad things are OK withoutt DH tallulah. I get into my own wee groove through the week and me and the DCs do just fine. When DH comes home at the weekend it kind of throws a spanner into the dynamics and causes more stress sometimes!
