dont knock magnolia....... the stairs & landings are magnolia. All the bedrooms are antique white with 1 accent wall (blue, pink or coffee) the bathrooms are soft almond and the lounge will also be soft almond! But basically all in the same colour palette! Its a nice clean fresh colour and makes everything look bigger

aprilmeadow · 17/09/2007 19:49

mrsjb, will start stocking up on cadburys chocolate, quavers and mini chedders for our visit!

its fabulous

twelveyeargap · 17/09/2007 20:55

I meant the Zapp, not the Buzz, sorry. The Buzz isn't much smaller than the Mountain Buggy! I only want it for the chassis so I can clip the car seat to it when I go shopping. It folds down nice and small for the boot. Once she's outgrown the Maxi-Cosi Cabrio seat, then I can sell the Zapp and replace for a stroller which reclines. The folding mechanism seems ok. I got the girl in Babies R Us to show me before I bought it. Whizzed round Brent Cross with it then. Seems really, really flimsy after the Mountain Buggy, but there's not much "terrain" in the shopping centre, so I reckon it's ok. You know I swore I wouldn't be one of those buggy addicts; now look at me.

Hmm... I'm tempted about Weds since I want to stay out of the way of the decorator. Could get the Tube to Waterloo and then the train. I'll decide tomorrow. I'm so shattered tonight I can't think. I had two really late nights at the weekend because DH's Australian cousin and his fiancee were here and we sat up late. Boo hoo.

I was out buying fabric samples for the living room. Now none of them seem right. Duck egg blue and cream seems a bit bland now I have it home. Tsk.

Lupins71 · 17/09/2007 21:35

Evening all, looking forward to meet up on weds

Cam do you want me to bring you the universal raincover?? I am sure that other person has the raincover but she says not

Had Arlen weighed today 15lb 15oz!! OMG must be all that banana and carrot he keeps scoffing, tnites menu was sweet potato, carrot and potato mash followed by banana pud, an he is now on the 75th centile, not bad for a 3lb 10 start

Spoke to my mum again about my dad situation - it seems he wants to leave me a 3bed house in portsmouth - so going to have a good snoop at the shopping make sure its ok lol!! mind you might have to wait another 3years to get it lol!! shouldnt laugh about such things really but hey ho

have a good evening all, am off to finish my harry potter book - only seem to manage 2 or 3 pages a night before my eyes are going blurry through tiredness

Bensonbluebird · 17/09/2007 21:50

I've got a techno XT too, the one and only buggy we've had. It's still going strong after 2.5 years of walking everywhere. I've been feeling disloyal lately though because DS2 hates being in it when he is awake if we are dawdling round the park or something. It's only ok if he is asleep or if I'm walking fast.

The solids seem to being the trick for Aidan's sleep. He's back to waking twice. What a relief. I think I'm still a long way off going a whole 12 hours though. I realised that I had given my book on baby foods to a charity shop thinking that it wasn't that useful, but of course i've completely forgotton when you are supposed to introduce dairy and wheat etc. Will have to get a book out of the library.

Lupins71 · 18/09/2007 08:10

Benson - your hv should be able to give you loads of info and stuff about weaning

No real news here - except its bloody freezing!! I hate being cold

madeindevon2 · 18/09/2007 10:57

its breaking my heart. freddie is literally covered with spots and cries or whimpers most of the time. he looks at me with such a pained expression in his eyes as if to say what have you done to me mum?
his temp went up to 38.9 last night. stripped him off but the only place i could settle him was on me. i didnt want to allow baby into our bed but this seems like an exception. i think hes so little he just wants to be near his mum coz he feels so rotton. hes only 15 weeks old.
giving calpol every 4 hours, feeding him as much as poss, cool bath twice a day, his usual creams for dry skin as well as calomine. had to dab him with cold flannel last night to try get temp down.
i really hope this doesnt last too long.
if anyone got any words of wisdom pls let me know.
when i got him dressed after bath this morning his hands and feet were a little blue. his temp 37.5 last so not as bad.
hes not floppy or anything tho. his dad and him have this thing where they almost seem to growl at each other...its so cute...dad goes grrrrr and freddie copoes...he even did that with dad in the middle of the night and tried to give him a little smile....normally hes all smiles...

madeindevon2 · 18/09/2007 10:58

chicken pox. how long will it last?

twelveyeargap · 18/09/2007 12:12

Hopefully only a few days MID. Babies often fight it quicker than older children. Put a handful of bicarb of soda in his bath - it takes the sting out. Also dab the spots with a paste of bicarb and water and then wash off when it has dried. It worked wonders for me when I had it as a child.

Dried in lotions and pastes are uncomfortable. I would recommend a calamine (or similar) cream rather than lotion as the lotion goes flaky, which aggravates the itch.

cameroonmama · 18/09/2007 12:14

oh MID poor you and Freddie - its so horrible when they are sick. The being ill bit only normally lasts a couple of days and it sounds like you are doing all the right things. Some oats in a sock under the running water from the taps into his bath seems to help relieve a bit of the itchiness. The spots will stay for some time, about 2 weeks in total from first appearing to disappearing. I hope hes a bit better by tomorrow.

Lups - I would love the universal raincover, yes please!

TYG, get yourself down here, you know you always fancied a day out in Porstmouth We will give you cake....

Guess where I have been this morning? Aerobics! I didn't realise that there is a creche at the leisure centre, run by two lovely little old ladies so J played happily there for an hour. Its been a while since I have done ANY exercise, I'm sure I'll be paying for it tomorrow.

Pebblemum · 18/09/2007 12:39

MID poor freddie i hope it soon clears up.

Alana slept from 9pm last night until 11am She has been a bit snotty and was feeling sorry for herself yesterday so I let her sleep, didnt expect her to go that long though. She did stir at about 8am but went back off again. It allowed me chance to wash my hair, do the mountain of ironing, and complete tidy the house (only for ds2 to ruin it by getting his toys out 5mins later lol)so the peace was nice altough i did keep popping in to check on her every now and again to make sure she was ok

I cannot believe how bloody cold it is today! It has made me realise how ill prepared my wardrobe is for winter, i have no decent jumpers at all. Im sat here in one of dh's sweatshirts In 15mins i have to leave the warmth of indoors to take ds2 to pre-school just the thought of it makes me shiver. The worst thing is it looks so nice out there, the sky is pure blue, not a cloud in sight and the sun is shining yet it is freezing, I hate the cold!!!

madeindevon2 · 18/09/2007 14:34

thanks all. my sister used the bicarb on her son but freddie has dry skin and ecxma so doc advised me not to use it. using the usual emolient cream which should take some itching away as stops skin becoming dry.
saw doc again this morning as freddie's temp was 39 deg after cool bath and 2 hrs after calpol, they told me to go straight in. nothing much else they can do tho. doc said try not to worry about temp at 39....hes gonna have a fever for few days. hes got a very bad dose of it apparently. just have to keep doing what im doing....

charleymouse · 18/09/2007 15:45

Afternoon all, hope you are all okay. Will try to catch up with thread after this. Hope all these teething/poorly babes feeling better soon.

We have been a bit hectic here. We have had headlice and impetigo in DD and impetigo in DS. Cue trips to consultant/GP and revolting medicine which I could not get into DD. Therefore no mixing with non-infected people, separate towels for each DC and us. Nightmare!!

G weighs 10lb 6oz and the HV is happy with his development. Still exclusively BF but considering weaning soon, especially as he is 24 weeks today.

On a positive note we have sacked our original builder doing our barn conversion since August last year. He promised roof would be on by March 2007 . Still no sign. Anyhow DH got fed up and has set a new builder on - roof joists already on and I have to start thinking about electric sockets and plumbing and kitchens. Can I ask for your advice about what you love/hate would recommend about your bathrooms/kitchens. This poster started this link I know it's cheeky when I'm not keeping up but please I am overwhelmed and just feel I could be making one heck of a costly mistake if I get it wrong. DH is letting me have full rein and I do not want to screw it up.

Been a bit down lately but lifting up a bit now especially re house move prospects and enjoyable bits of homemaking to look forward to.

Sorry for not posting more often.

charleymouse · 18/09/2007 18:29

Ooops!

G weighs 11lb 3oz I read wrong line in his book. You would think I would know as it was only this morning. DOH.

MID hope Freddie is feeling better.

Have a good meetup tomorrow ladies.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 18/09/2007 18:35

Charley we have just started the mamouth task of our kitchen.
It is in a state today and now resembles a building site. We are taking down a wall to extend the kitchen so dh has had fun with a big hammer today. We are having a modern style kitchen, in vanilla, simple, sleek, shiny and cymetrical probably sounds boring but we are going to spice it up in other ways. Dh has been insistent on a spray tap and we have included some other useful items, pull out wire cupboards, all integral, inc microwave, large oven at waist height, seperate small oven/grill above, induction hob, large pan drawers, dishwasher is also raised to save on the back when loading and unloading, Soft close drawers and cupboards. We are also having an air conditioner unit fitted as in the summer the kithen can be an unpleasent place over here. We have a big walk in larder off of the kitchen, (actually it's a loo at the mo) but it will be a walk in larder, we are having panneled slidding doors on it a little like some of the funky wardrobe doors you see now.

Things to think about inc..... enough wall cupboards to save on bending down for things you use all the time.
If you tile the floor go for a smooth tile rather than a stone effect that is a nightmare for crumbs.
If you like glass wall cupboards remember that everything in it can be seen, I hate visible clutter so we have included two glass wall units but they will simply be to display Dad's collection of poole pottery (waste of space I know) lol
Inserts for the drawers and cupbords are really useful, pan dividers, cutlery tray that fits whole drawer so you don't loose things down the edges. Spice racks on inside of doors and my sister has a really useful rack on the inside of the door under her sink, it's fab for your w/u liquid, spare cloths, vanish stick, marigolds etc.

Sorry I've gone on a bit, will stop now. Good luck, and you are soooooo right it's alot of money to spend so you do want to get it right.

scootermum · 18/09/2007 21:40

Grr.Im v. of the meet up..
MID-When poor F is over the pox we shall have our own Herts one..Plus always up for North London visits if you fancy it TYG?

Sorry to hear of all the colds etc..we are in the same boat..it seems half of the town has gone down with a mystery vomiting bug.Went to toddlers group today and there were only 4 kids there, (usually 30 odd) and two of them were mine! Then went to Tesco, v.quiet, (like 28 days later!)L has been looking greener and greener by the hour and M has been vomiting since about 6..and now I feel sick as well..oh joy!

We had a fab weekend away though..very relaxing and the Norfolk broads were gorgeous..L was like a different child..so well behaved!Maybe messing about on boats suits her..

I love Duck Egg blue TYG..we have it in our bedroom..we were going to have cream but in the end went for a sort of darker shade...more a pale gold/biscuit sort of affair if you will..it looks very nice..think it may have been Dulux Natural Hessian but not sure...

I would get those cool larder cupboards that slide out Charley..you can fit loads in them, and they look fab IMO..

Well done Ella Meadow on the 12 hours..M is back to waking once a night these last two nights, at 4 am but am hoping this is because she is under the weather..

It seems quite likely we may be moving house a week on Friday, though this is yet to be confirmed..am trying to come to terms with the fact that I will have to leave my dear- but- too- little- house, (the only place I have ever felt really contented ) and also the fact that Ive two weeks to pack EVERYTHING..and DH is away for one of them..
And I HATE packing...

scootermum · 18/09/2007 21:41

Your kitchen sounds lovely Mrs JB BTW..

ArtistFormerlyKnownAsSOH · 19/09/2007 09:08

help

I'm not one to exaggerate. DD admitted to hospital at the weekend because she stopped breathing. Is still battling, on steroids. I cannot care for her for 10hrs today.

Pebblemum · 19/09/2007 09:59

AFKASOH Sorry you and M are both so ill. Wish there was something I could do to help. Your Dh must take time off to care for you both, M is his responsibility too. Im pretty sure if he explained the situation to the people at work they would agree. M is only 4 months old and babies are demanding enough at the best of times but when they are ill they need extra care and attention. I know you are a strong woman and if you were feeling 100% yourself you would be coping amazingly but right now you need looking after as well. If you dont get any rest you wont get better and then where will dh and M be, Dh needs to put his foot down at work and take care of his family, you should be his priority.

I remember the worry when ds1 had croup and we had to rush him to hospital because he was having trouble breathing. It was one of the scariest times of my life and he was older and didnt have it as bad as M seems to have it, so I can only guess how worried you must be. Will be keeping fingers crossed you both start to get better soon {{{hugs}}}

charleymouse · 19/09/2007 12:15

Cheers Mrs JB your kitchen sounds lovely, thanks for the top tips. Just feeding G before I go touting round showrooms. I wanted air con but DH won't go for it.

SM yeah I fancy a larder cupboard, I am trying to hide as much away as possible whilst still having it all to hand. Good luck with your move/packing that is one thing I am not looking forward to.

G went down last night at 20:30 and woke at 04:25 Result then woke himself up around 7:30 by a rather large trump.

SOH big hugs coming your way for you M and DH. Included DH as he got a bit of a bashing on the other thread. It is hard sometimes when people don't know the full history/background, obv agree with PM DH should be your first support but if that is not possible then glad your brother is able to step in and help out. Take care and rest as much as you can.
