scootermum · 12/09/2007 20:23

That'll probably be me on there in a few years..

twelveyeargap · 12/09/2007 20:25

Went to see Atonement at the cinema. They keep the house lights up a bit more than usual so you can see to look after the babies and they don't have the sound as loud as usual. A was awake when we got in, had a feed fairly soon after it started, slept for about an hour in my arms and then sat goggle eyed at the screen for the rest (save for a trip to the baby-change facility to sort out a power-poo).

You don't notice the baby noises and farmyard toy noises after a while. Everyone is aware of where they are and get up and walk about with their babies if they really start shouting.

This cinema is independent (Phoenix in Finchley) and sells nice tea and cake in the mornings. I hear the Everyman in Hampstead is great too. In the evenings they sell wine and olives and posh snacks, so I presume their baby screenings are pretty cool. I'd be happy to go alone as you'd get chatting to other people in the foyer if you wanted to and sure once you're inside then you can't really be talking anyway.

scootermum · 12/09/2007 20:55

Was it good TYG?I love the book, but am worried will spend the whole film thinking how much I abhor Knightley..still the frocks look lovely though...
I might try the baby-pictures..its ages since ive been to the cinema..

scootermum · 12/09/2007 20:56

The Electric in Notting Hill is supposed to be fabuloso too and they do baby screenings...they have lovely big armchair seats and sell booze at night..

cameroonmama · 12/09/2007 20:59

We went to see Atonement on Sunday and i loved it, very emotional and lots of KK (no LG&T NOT donuts ) pouting.

Sounds all very north london TYG, I am quite , not sure Taunton Odeon baby screening will be quite so chi-chi la la

Pebblemum · 12/09/2007 21:42

Hi just a quickie to say the meet up is ok by me. Thanks for the offer LG&T but I think Dh will drop me down there. If I cant convince Dh to take ds2 to pre-school that day I will have to bring him with me. Id rather not though as he is being a pain in the bum lately and I could do with the break.

It was so nice having my hair done yesterday, 2.5hrs on my own, no children just me (and the hairdresser of course lol)

Right ive got to go now and look up ds1's prospective schools on the internet, everytime ive tried recently my internet connection packs up Will try to pop back to catch up later

SKYTVADDICT · 12/09/2007 21:51

Hello all

Very jealous of baby screenings here. We don't even have a cinema!

C seems to have gained an aversion to his pushchair and screams blue murder when put in and cheers up immensely when taken out and carried! A friend and I took it in turns to carry him to school yesterday!

Today I put him in the baby carrier forward facing (first time out of the house with it) and he loved it. I took the pushchair though as I wasn't sure if my back would be up to going to and from school. It was, but he fell asleep half way home and was transferred to his pushchair. It mostly in the afternoons I have a problem - going to school he is usually ok. Any wise words of wisdom?

elkiedee · 12/09/2007 22:27

TYG, thanks, you've given me an idea to explore further. I remember really liking the Phoenix cinema about a million years ago, but don't think I could make it to East Finchley for 11 am. I've heard of other places that do it though and I might look to see if anywhere in Wood Green or the nearer bits of Islington to me do it - walking distance or one bus.

Lupins71 · 13/09/2007 05:56

Morning, whats ev1s babies wearing in to bed? A is in a sleeping bag with long sleeved bodysuit and sleepsuit, but to me he still isnt warm, his body and legs and arms arent cold but arent warm, but his hands are like blocks of ice, our room is very cold, we speep with a thick duvet and a thin quilted bedspread (its nice, honest), so do i try blankets? he sleeps through so its not bothering him, just getting concerned as i know its going to get alot colder

juliewoolie · 13/09/2007 08:57

morning.

A wears a vest and 1tog sleeping bag to bed. His bedroom is like an oven so I have the total opp to you lups. But weirdly his hands are still like blocks of ice. Think its because they spend nearly all the time in his mouth and when not in his mouth the dribble slime makes them cold. Poor chap in winter if the dribbling keeps up is going to have a very chapped chin and fingers.

Baby cinema is great I have been to a couple and will defo be going when they start back up at my local. Scoot the one with sofas and booze sounds great maybe we should organise a meet up there.

AbbyLou · 13/09/2007 09:23

Hi all, sorry to abandon you in the middle of all that brilliant advice but it was one of those days yesterday - sounds a bit like yours Scoot.
R had a really good day sleep-wise and managed 2.5 hours in total which is a miracle for her. At the mo she has been asleep since 8.45.
Yesterday was a very long day - to cut a very long story short ds managed to break 2 pairs of glasses in one day and then fell at the playcentre with his cm and broke his arm! The poor little thing has been so brave. He didn't moan once during the 3 hour a+e wait and hr charmed all the nurses and doctors. He was sooo good and I am really proud of him. he is now sporting a full arm cast and we are due to go to Center Parcs on Monday. I am so gutted for him as he had been looking forward to swimming every day for so long bless him. I have just ordered from the internet a special cast protector which is supposed to ensure they can shower, bathe and go swimming so we'll wait and see if it works - fingers crossed please...

largeginandtonic · 13/09/2007 10:28

Morning all

PMSL at you Scoot, sorry dont mean to laugh at your pain Hope the gin sorted you out, it works for me everytime

I had my own stiff gin at 5pm yesterday, bad afternoon. Sodding meet the teacher meeting with all 6 in tow and a sudden 'tea date' for one of the twins. Hugo managed to bash his nose\toes\head and fingers in the space of half an hour, poor thing.

Diet, hmmmmmmm. I am being goodish, the weekends let me down though (not the food i scoff )

I went to the cinema with B when he was about 9 weeks, not a baby one though. Was great, he fed and slept the whole way through! Not so sure Hugs would be so obliging.

MrsJB i think that about B in the car, if he could sleep on his tummy im sure he would be happier in there!

Have just been to visit a playschool for Hugs, it was lovely. Nice staff and very chilled atmosphere, no school stuff crammed down their throats either. Plenty of time for that at school. So he is going to do 2 sessions a week starting next monday, i will stay with him for a while and see how he does. Sob, another one growing up.

Am going to a breastfeeding cafe meet up this afternoon, the HV said to go. Thinks i may be 'helpful' to other moms who go for advice, pah! Does she not remember the wreck i was with B just a few weeks ago!

Pebble what did you do to your hair then? Can we have a pic? My hair resembles a 'drag through a hedge backwards' look today, very fetching i tell ya! Scoot how is your burn?

Lupins71 · 13/09/2007 10:58

Abbeylou ahhhh your poor ds, hope it doesnt hurt too much,

Just been the the hospital with A, they arent going to do anything with his lump down below - they are hoping it will sort itself out, but if it starts causing discomfort or if he stops weeing or pooing then its off to a&e, got to go back in 3 months, quite a relief - really didnt want him having any surgery yet he's still too diddy, was hoping they would have weighed him but noooo so i have to trek to the clinic later, havent had it done for ages so am getting pretty curious - isnt it funny with dd i was there every week!!

Hope ev1s out enjoing the sunshine

elkiedee · 13/09/2007 11:29

Abby, your poor ds. Hope the cast works and that he and the rest of you still enjoy CenterParcs holiday.

largeginandtonic · 13/09/2007 11:29

Good news for A then Lups!

Poor little mite Abby! Hope he is ok, lots to do at Center Parks without the swimming, i just love it there!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 13/09/2007 13:14

Great news lups.

Poor ds Abbey, What a brave little lad, if H ever broke anything I think the whole world would know, he's such a wuss.

Maddie had had a great week potty training, had gone a week with no wee accidents and just the odd poo accident but last night she stood in the middle of the lounge looking at her potty and ps all over the floor, how on earth do you stay calm after that? I was sooooo cross, tried desparately not to show it but I think she knew. After she said "my done wee on floor", "my naughty". I'm sure she did it on purpose. I told AM about it on msn last night and she laughed She's right though, I will not sing my kids praises anymore, they make me eat humble pie oh and to top it off J went to bed at 7.30pm as planned but blimmin woke at 5.30am and demanded Food. agghhhhh! lol, now you can have a really good chuckle AM

lg&t, poor you with hugs going to playschool, he'll love it though,(wonder what mischieve he'll get up to, mawaaaa)must be time for another one.

OP posts:
scootermum · 13/09/2007 14:24

Poor old DS Abby..hope the cast works..I haev never broken anything and think I would be a howling wreck if I did..brave boy..

She was probably just testing you out Mrs JB..I imagine Lily will get the hang of it pretty well when we start, but then realise what a fab way to annoy Mummy it will be to not bother with the potty at all

Meet the teacher?With all 6 G and t?Blimey...

We had an ok ish night last night..M woke up at 10 to 5 and had 1 oz of milk then back to sleep till 8.30..she is still grumpyu and dribbly and hand knawing though and wont be put down-am going to sling her in the buggy in a minute and walk until she ruddy well falls asleep!
L woke up at 3am for some reason..I put her in bed with me as DH was away and TBH I was quite cold-it was nippy last night..This morning she woke up, started bouncing on the bed half asleep, fell off and now has a huge egg shaped bump on her head which looks lovely..she didnt cry at all though so Im assuming she is either ok, or concussed..

Burn is ok thanks largegandt..hair looks probably the worst it ever has..it is overdue for a cut and has gone really dull..this happened last time as well about3 months after L was born..think its the hormones leaving my body..Well it looks horrid anyway..

I am out tonight with my B and B group..will most likely be asleep by 9pm..then we are away with two couples and kids from L's antenatal class for the weekend..In Norfolk actually-so if you are lurking SOH..Drop me a line on my yahoo as I would love to see you and tank!

Mum2G · 13/09/2007 17:19

Hi all

Sorry to hear about the lumps, breaks and wee's, eau d baby sick is the latest thing here and plenty of it!

G rolled over today yey! then cried because his arm was stuck.

G has been having quite a few 2 hr daytime naps this week but i think it is only because he had his jabs on monday - last ones for now - and is sleeping all the nasties off. It has been good though as i am on antibiotics and they have been making me feel knackered, so have been sleeping when g has.

Been quite stressed this week as DH forced into working overtime ie til 12 every eve and weekends - i think he may look elsewhere soon, hope we don't have to move again we have only been here 7 months.

Anyway looking forward to the meet up, and some adult company!

aprilmeadow · 13/09/2007 20:02

MrsJB i am not chuckling about the waking i promise - i was up at 3.30am with Ella.
Am still clapping like seal at the thought of coming to see you in March

Abby your poor ds i hope he isnt in any pain today.

Gave Ella some 'Sunrise Banana' breakfast thing this morning after her feed and she wolfed it down and then downed 2oz of water. Then at 12pm we went and did the baby swimming and fed her again and gave her some apple and pear. Am hoping that she is full and sleeps better tonight. IF she is still bad by the end of the weekend then i may consider giving her formula as her last feed.

Off to get my eyebrows waxed in 45mins - only time of the day that i get peace and quiet

aprilmeadow · 13/09/2007 20:03

Well done George on the rolling you have earned your 'Roly Mo' badge

cameroonmama · 13/09/2007 20:15

Definately no 'roly mo' badge in this house today..

Fingers crossed for better nights sleep for all. J has gone back to waking only once so we shall postpone the bottle before bed and weaning for a bit longer.

Abby I am sooo sorry for your poor wee ds I hope he still manages to go swimming.

largeginandtonic · 13/09/2007 20:37

Clever boy George

Jealous of your French visit to MrsJB's mansion AM

The breastfeeding clinic was great! B has always been a rubbish feeder, poor latch and bad vacuum are not good in a breastfeeder. She was so helpful, i have some new techniques to try. She is pretty sure it is contributing to his poor weight gain but as he is so good and sleeps all night and has lots of wet and dirty nappies i shouldnt worry, which i wasnt

There were some very tiny babies, so cute! B looked HUGE compared to them. It has made me so broody Hugs was on form, shattered the peace and proceeded to 'feed' everyone out of his little basket of pretend groceries. They were all first time mommies

Mrsjaffabiffa · 13/09/2007 21:17

I'm sooooooooooooooooo excited too AM, March is ages away though, and I thought last night they'll be crawling by then. Aghhhhhhh What fun. Hope Ella's full and you get a good night.

lg&t you know the invite is open still. You and N and the little tonics are all welcome, after all, I have a Mansion so plenty of room.
Glad the bf group was good, I hope it helps, wish we had had some support like that when things went pair shapped with Jorja, my midwife said there was NO hope in a nice way, but I'm not convinced.

Re meet up, yey just found out i can get train from Fareham to portsmouth harbour which only takes 30 mins, and stn is only 3 mins from gunwharf, so even i shouldn't get lost!!

Time and place for meet up??

largeginandtonic · 13/09/2007 21:44

No idea Mum2G...erm. Starbucks? Station is right next to Gun Wharf, just follow the troops of people from the ferry all heading for the shops! I will be one.

Sure AM said she would be there by about 1130, shall we say 12 and text if we all arrive earlier?

Have asked a friend if i can borrow her P&T for the day as i cant face Hugs running off, he wiil not be amused

have you all seen this groovy new thingy!!!!!
