DS is having a regression on nighttime sleep since moving over to combi - seems to want to wale at 1am whereas before would always go through until 3am...

I'm really sorry to have read your comment @Dipsy77 . Hope you're still getting all the support and love at home xx

We've not really got a routine here anymore other than pretty predictable feeds and some idea as to when he'll nap. That being said, his naps have gone out of the window this last week and he's wide awake ready to play until 10pm every night!

E will lift his bum and shuffle backwards in the changing mat and will try and pull him self forward when in his tummy but no really movement yet!

He's also still not rolling? He's done tummy to back a few times (about 1/2 months ago) but has not done it since and just seems completely uninterested. Is there a point that I should be worried?

He's also constantly trying to stand. If he can pull himself up while say on your lap he absolutely will and it's a fight to get him sat back down.

How's sitting up going? Another one we're practicing and getting pretty close with but not mastered.

First timer here so I have no idea whether I should /shouldn't be concerned with hitting milestones or not?

THAT90sBITCH · 21/02/2020 11:07

Some things some babies skip db92 so some will walk without having crawled, others may crawl without having rolled etc. If you are concerned of course see your hv but he does sound fine to me! One of mine would not stand at all on first birthday and i saw the health visitor who wasnt concerned at all. Said child walked two months later. Sometimes i takes a long time for them to do something and then they master it overnight.

We have been doing porridge mid morning for almost a week now and that is going fine. I may start giving a bit of veg to mess with at tea time as of next week i think.

Hope you are okay dipsy

Stroan · 21/02/2020 15:09

@db92 the ages that they hit milestones are SO variable at this age then when they hit 3ish, everything evens out. He sounds absolutely fine.

DD did everything really early and I remember her getting really frustrated each time she was learning something new, like she was so desperate to do it. DS just really doesn't care! I'm convinced he could roll if he wanted to but just hasn't found any motivation yet.

I'm enjoying weaning now, he still doesn't like being spoon fed and doesn't tolerate anything pureed or smooth, but he loves a good chomp on anything he can get his hands on. we haven't been having many baby-friendly meals lately so just steaming him veg, making eggy bread, offering cucumber etc.

DustyDoorframes · 21/02/2020 18:19

Heh, zero routine and zero movement (rolling, shuffling, nothing!) here. Well, for routine, Friday is our one day with no commitments and all siblings elsewhere, so that is basically milk milk milk day. She's working on sitting though, and looking pretty good. This is what comes of spending most of her time in the bouncy chair or the sling...
@Geegrl19 are you feeling a bit more settled back at work?? I keep thinking of you, I've had a few meetings and calls (KIT...) in the last few weeks and I just can't be bothered. But when in there I can't let go either, ho hum.
@Stroan annoying re HV!! Hopefully all boxes will be ticked. At least you know it's just her being rubbish!

Geegrl19 · 22/02/2020 04:30

@DustyDoorframes it's going ok. I do three days in a row so at the end of the three am ready for time off, but then at the end of my four days at home feel ready for work again.

I have settled back ok. Is a very fast paced and brain taxing job at times and it gets crazy in the afternoons so I do get a bit stressed if I think I won't get out on time. Was very foggy the first week back but much better now. Nate settled well at daycare which is a relief. I love picking him up at the end of the day.

I get everything ready the night before and have a good routine in the mornings and am even getting to work well on time.

I'm sure you'll be fine once back, the thought of going is worse I found. When do you go back and how many days? Will you be using a daycare centre?

Geegrl19 · 22/02/2020 04:57

Nate is moving for objects now. He drags himself along on his belly. He looks like a worm 😂. Still can't roll from front to back though

THAT90sBITCH · 23/02/2020 07:07

So some of you might remember we were having bed time nappy leak problems. Well i bought some Aldi 4+ and had no leaks for like a week! But now its started again. Every night. Sometimes its the only reason he wakes up Sad Can he possibly need a 5? Never had this issue before he must wee bucket loads!

Geegrl19 · 23/02/2020 07:52

@that90sbitch is there a specific area he leaks in, or is it all over. Think I read once for wetting up the front to put nappy on back to front but not sure how on earth you'd manage that 🤔 and really whether it'd do any good.

Maybe try the even larger size? Nappy cover? How frustrating 😒

THAT90sBITCH · 23/02/2020 08:14

Its up the front when he sleeps on his belly, up the side when he sleeps on his back. I might get next size up today but just seems insane. He is fine in size 3 during the day up to 4 hours! Am i really gonna have to use a nappy two sizes bigger at night!

Geegrl19 · 23/02/2020 08:41

Yes, they will be big nappies on him! Do pull ups work better,? Nate pees loads at night too but I've got one brand that contains it. He does wake for feeds but I'm too lazy to change his bum too!

THAT90sBITCH · 23/02/2020 08:45

I tried pampers nappy pants in a 4 and they didnt work at all

Its soooo frustrating!

Nappy on at 9 last night had leaked by 3am so only 6 hours

PollyRoe16 · 23/02/2020 15:32

@THAT90sBITCH have you tried these pampers ones? Only ones I found didn't leak!

groceries.asda.com/product/pampers-nappies-size-4-4/pampers-premium-protection-size-4-nappies-essential-pack/1000117784512

When I was researching a lot of people said good things about Sainsbury's own as they have an elasticated panel at the back so fit better

DustyDoorframes · 23/02/2020 15:49

@THAT90sBITCH what a bore!!! A 5 over the top of a 4+??? Although I guess the sheer bulk of the full nappy might be what's waking him.
@Geegrl19 yay re getting into a rhythm with work! I'm freelance, so set my own terms, although I mostly work really closely with three others (all part time) in a tiny organisation, and I'm attending key meetings and conferences with baby in tow. I'll start doing half days in June and build up to 2 days, and I've a tiny 0.5 day per week job which I will start again in September I think. My DP is also freelance, and we split childcare between us, at least until we get to the free nursery hours age 3. It really works for us, it means one person doesn't end up carrying all the child related mental load, or take the career hit. The kind of work we do is the kind you can do part time with no penalty (I'm a sort of consultant, so I'm either available or I'm not, and he works from home and either delivers a piece of work or doesn't. Clients can't tell if we are busy with other work or with babies!

Horehound · 23/02/2020 16:57

I use those pampers nappies that Polly has linked and they hold a lot of pee! We use them overnight

THAT90sBITCH · 23/02/2020 17:28

I have tried them in a 4 and they leaked although fine in the day. Do they do a 4+ do you know?

Horehound · 23/02/2020 17:50

Are they too big maybe?

THAT90sBITCH · 23/02/2020 18:08

He has 3s in the day which leak at night Confused

Megan2018 · 23/02/2020 18:25

Are they saturated or just leaking?

Horehound · 23/02/2020 18:36

Hmmm maybe he does just pee a lot. Sounds like the size of the nappy is fine but he is just weeing too much for them. Have you tried reusables and boosters? I could send you a bumgenious elemental if you like?

Dyra · 23/02/2020 18:59

Looks like Amazon have the 4+

THAT90sBITCH · 23/02/2020 19:09

dyra thanks but they are £53 Shock

megan i think they are saturated and its worse when he lies on his front

horehound i couldnt ask you to do that but thankyou

Torn between trying Aldi 5s / pampers baby dry 4+ or pampers premium 5s. Any thoughts?

Dyra · 23/02/2020 19:20

Ah. I didn't even notice that. Sorry. Blush

The 4+ Pampers baby dry (152 pack) seems a bit more reasonable at £20 at least. Plus it's much more likely they'll fit and won't have massive gaps for piddle to leak.

kyles101 · 23/02/2020 19:30

Sainsbury's all the way for us!! They really do give a great fit and hold Loads!! Deffo worth a try.

OP posts:
kyles101 · 23/02/2020 19:30

And the pampers premium ones a close second but the fit isn't quite as good.

Geegrl19 · 24/02/2020 08:07

@DustyDoorframes that sounds like a manageable workload. Three days was my max! Good that you can share the childcare and not have to use a daycare. I'm completely out of touch with what entitlements are in the UK but do remember that it's expensive and there is not much government help. I'm sure once you're back in the swing of it, it will all fall into place. I think I found the thought of going to work worse than the reality.
