@geegrl19 god that sounds rough. Poor wee soul. I do the daycare is just a but pot of horrible germs. My cousin took her baby round a few to check them out (not even a session) and she ended up with D&v.
Really hope he feels better soon.

happydays00 · 02/02/2020 12:36

@Geegrl19 I find the germs even get bought home by the toddler - I would say that things should improve when the weather gets better but the fact it's 40 degrees with you and still sick doesn't give me much hope 😬😬 hope he went down to sleep eventually and you're having an ok night so far!

@THAT90sBITCH welcome back!

Has anyone heard from TwittleBee? Keep thinking of her and her pregnancy!

DustyDoorframes · 02/02/2020 14:06

Ouf @Geegrl19 that sounds so grim!! I guess at least each bug he catches is one fewer still to catch...
@Stroan yes, the no supper b thing definitely works better with another adult on-side, a fussy partner would finish me off!
I forget who was worrying about interesting meals not being suitable for BLW, pretty much everything is basically fine, although you do need to cut out salt (top tip, start cutting down now, going cold turkey is a bit alarming!), and it helps to cut things into grabbable sticks. The BLW handbook is really useful on what to watch out for.

Dyra · 02/02/2020 20:34

Poor Nate and you. All that heat and sickness to boot? Poor little guy. Hope he recovers quickly @Geegrl19. Hope DD's back is all better now as well.

Welcome back @THAT90sBITCH. How's the brood and the uni work going?

@DustyDoorframes That might have been me. TBH I don't cook with salt anyway, I'm more worried about meals with little pieces of meat and veg. Choking hazards one and all. I'm sure I can adapt, but there's so much to remember. 😞 Going to look into getting a book for some recipes, ideas and reassurance.

Finally got to go to a first aid course. Just the one other baby on the outside there, with 5 more on the inside still. Made me nostalgic for being pregnant and more than a bit broody...

DustyDoorframes · 02/02/2020 21:11

Oooh @Dyra broodiness... The Baby Led Weaning handbook is really clear and helpful re choking and stuff, definitely worth a read. Most libraries have it. The cookbook is useful too, but if you are worried about choking its worth reading the book book.

Geegrl19 · 03/02/2020 02:26

Thankfully the sickness has gone. He must have puked it out of his system which is good. He is feeding pretty well but I made sure not to overfeed him. Up to date on the puky washing too!

Our temperature is back to a much more reasonable range. It's every now and then over summer we have the over 40 days depending on where the wind is coming from thank goodness. I have jeans on today, lol. Typical English person obsessed with the weather.

On another note, Nate has completely lost the ability to sleep at night. I honestly don't know what to do. I wish I could be this earth mother who calmly pats and shushes her baby back to sleep for the tenth time but I'm not. I got an hour and a half a sleep in, not in one go I might add, up to 5am last night. Then I spent the next four hours trying to nap sitting up with him sleeping on me. He has been a shocker since before Christmas and I'm feeling pretty broken to tell you the truth. What on earth do I do?!?

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 03/02/2020 07:56

@Geegrl19 Glad to hear his tummy is doing better but sorry to hear about the sleep. Do you think it's the four month regression?
We have had 5 or 6 very broken nights in a row. I keep hoping it's just cos of her cold but am worrying it might be the regression! Her eyes are still struggling too though. The antibiotics have done great for DD1 but baby can't have them so I am having to just wash her eyes regularly and hope it clears up - first thing in the morning they're so crusty!

Geegrl19 · 03/02/2020 09:57

@Littlehouseinthebigcity oh no, that's terrible re her eyes. Poor thing. How stressful.

Yes I think regression. Steadily got worse then throw in the sickness. On top of all that he's given me the suck bug. I threw up in the car collecting dd2 after school today. Beginning to think I did something really bad in a former life, give me a break.

Myspiritan · 03/02/2020 11:54

Oh @Geegrl19, you are literally where I was last week, it’s awful, so so awful being sick and having sick kids and getting no sleep. I definitely felt the same, wished I could just get on with it and not mind but I felt so broken. Starting to feel a bit better and the last 2 nights I’ve been treated to a 3 hour stretch of sleep at some point in the night after 2 months of waking every 45mins. Hang in there, there’s light at the end of the tunnel and we’ve got your metaphorical back in the meantime. Sending healing thoughts

Geegrl19 · 04/02/2020 02:48

Thanks @Myspiritan isn't sick the worst, is such a violent feeling being sick. Poor dd1has it now too. She was staying at a friend's last night and she's messaged me lots in the night which I didn't see before morning ☹️ her friends grandmother brought her home. bunch of flowers owed there

We did have some better sleep last night. A three hour stretch at one point but only after waking for 90 mins. I'm ashamed to admit that when he woke after resettling later in the night I let him cry. I was there with him but I just didn't know what else to do ☹️. Feel so bad and like I've brain damaged him or something.

At least I feel a bit better today but could still go a three hour nap. I'm back at work tomorrow too.

DustyDoorframes · 04/02/2020 17:06

Oh @Geegrl19 going back to work must be making it all feel so much more pressured! Hopefully in a few weeks you will all settle into a new rhythm and all will be well!
(Ps- you have not brain damaged anyone!!!! You were there with him. You are doing so well with so little sleep! Be kind to yourself!!)

Horehound · 04/02/2020 22:45

I damaged Arthur :( I dropped him when we got our the bath and he hit his head on the marble countertop :( god I feel horrific. I spent ages calming him down, checked him over. He has a cut in his head although after cleaning it seems like a graze which is puzzling to me but I'm glad it's not deeper. It hadn't manifested into a lump either (yet) but I got a real scare and so did he.
After I managed to calm him down he seems fine. Been laughing and playing etc. Actually was laughing at me when I was crying down the phone to my mum.

Poor sausage. He had a huge feed and fine town to bed at 7.30 not woken since but I'm checking on him all the time in case he changes.

Horehound · 04/02/2020 22:45

I say dropped but I mean I was trying to wrap the towel around him properly and he basically kept from me.i kind of broke his fall with my hand but not enough :(

Geegrl19 · 05/02/2020 00:39

Oh @Horehound you poor things. Glad he had calmed down and good your are checking on him frequently. I imagine you feel terrible but it's so easy done. Hugs for you both 🤗

Horehound · 05/02/2020 07:01

Thanks @Geegrl19 I ended up taking him into bed with me so we held hand most of the night😍 he seems his usual self this morning so don't think any lasting damage thank goodness.

Re Nate's sleep...I think this just happens and then he will change back again. I was on here moaning about Arthur not sleeping but last three nights have been great. I think they just like to test us. Saying that though, he only slept 20 mins in the day yesterday so I had to put him in the car and drive around cause I knew he'd sleep then!

Geegrl19 · 05/02/2020 07:21

@horehound so glad he's ok, that's great to hear. Cute how you held hands all night

Yes I'm hoping it improves soon. Had a long stretch till 2 first up last night then wouldn't go back to sleep for 3hours! Ended up me holding him so I could get an extra couples of hours as was my first day at work today!

It went ok and I expressed at work. Bit strange getting your boobs out at work. Can see him having formula soon as not sure I'll get enough out to feed him. He had a good day and is feeding now and asleep so he's knackered! It's 6.20 though and don't want him sleeping too much now. Will take a while to figure out I guess. Not sure how I'm going to manage dinner for everyone.... Was very cute as they did a 'my first day at daycare' laminated sheet with pics of him on.

Horehound · 05/02/2020 21:44

Lol @Geegrl19 I can imagine it is weird getting your boobs out at work lol
Poor you having to go to work after that night though hope day 2 is better! That's really sweet with the photos for first day :)

Well we went out for dinner tonight and grandparents were babysitting. Tomorrow is a big test cause I'm getting my hair done allll daayyy so mum will be having Arthur and who knows if he'll take a bottle. He didn't tonight although I had just fed him before I went out. Week anyhoo he is down for the night and I'm expressing for his bottles

Dyra · 06/02/2020 17:58

Hope your night was a bit better Geegirl and Nate is on the mend.

Fx Arthur behaves himself for his Nana tomorrow.

Went to a parent and baby showing at the cinema today. Great fun. Alice was all eyes at the screen. She's never seen one so big before! Will definitely go again when there's a showing of something I want to watch. On the downside, I'm pretty sure she's teething, and her sleep has gone to hell as a result. It's like we're back in the regression, only she's super cranky and my poor nipples have been chomped to bits.

Horehound · 06/02/2020 18:52

@dyra yep he's been pretty good for her. I was out 8.45am to 4.15pm he did have some of the milk but not all. I had fed him at 6.30, 7.30 and 8.39 though so think he wasn't too bad for the first wee while but mum said I came back at just the right time really.

Re. Teething honestly I've thought Arthur has been teething for ages with no teeth appearing but actually, the more I read the more I see it's not teething and it's just a thing they do. "Normal" for a baby iykwim? I've experienced exactly the same as you.
I like the sound of the baby cinema! What did you see?!

Dyra · 06/02/2020 21:08

Little Woman. Grin

Very enjoyable. The sound wasn't quite as loud as it ordinarily would be and the house lights were still on, but dimmed slightly. I see now why it's been so popular amongst my baby groups. Wish I'd gone earlier so I could have seen Star Wars and Frozen 2 when they had parent and baby showings. Ah well, I'll settle for the awards season fare (Emma, The Personal History of David Copperfield, and A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood) that's the next set of showings.

I do hope this normal stage goes away soon. 😔

Horehound · 06/02/2020 22:31

Oh yes I really enjoyed Little women. I'm Gona see if my cinema do them!

Well, I'm no expert (as you can see, I'm sure hehe) so maybe she is teething...you never know! It is draining though Flowers

We've just had a run of being up every 45 mins and not settling after feeds. I gave DS his reflux medication earlier yesterday and he slept from 10.30 to 5. I feel amazing!

I've finally converted the pram from a carrycot into a pushchair. Had a little pathetic sob!

Love baby cinema, I saw Downton Abbey, Last Christmas and Little Women. Not sure DS will settle for long enough now, if only the films started at 12 in time for his only reliable nap!

Megan2018 · 07/02/2020 16:33

I wish we had baby cinema near me-it’s an hour away though for 10am showings and we are rarely dressed by 10 Blush.
I’m just going to have to wait for it all to be on Sky!

We have had a much better week sleepwise, gradually improving. Last night was great, she slept on me downstairs from 7-8.30 then in bed from 9:30-2.30ish, quick feed then slept until 6.15ish then another couple of hours after that too. Those 4-5hr stretches make all the difference after the 2hrly hell of late.

I have wasted this afternoon though, she’s been napping for a whopping 3hrs so far in the car seat that I was completely unprepared for!! I have big regret right now for not doing more but kept expecting her to stir.

kyles101 · 07/02/2020 18:12

I love our baby cinema 🥰 although I do have to ask them to turn the sound down every time we go - ds and i had the posh screening room all to ourselves for the Adam's family 😂 saw little women with some mummy friends last week, need to check next weeks showing.

Ds now reliably napping in cot however only once for more than one sleep cycle. Can't have it all I suppose but a nice 2 hour lunch nap would be the icing on a very easy baby cake.

Everyone needs a little loading about time @Megan2018 don't sweat it 👍

Got my hours agreed last week as 8-2 for a trial period of 3 months so very pleased with that - going back seems so close but a little easier to contemplate now thanks to that.
