Couldnt see a post natal group so have taken it upon myself to start one! Will obviously still keep up on antenatal also until babies have all arrived!

Shall we start a list of arrivals?

Hi @bubblegumunicorn my DD2 is another August baby, nearly 11weeks so a little behind you. She also had surgery when she was 2 days old, pretty nerve wracking but she’s all fine now and you’d never know she had anything wrong. How’s your little one’s recovery been?

@IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH I did my MA in education through the OU, their student support people are super helpful if you haven’t used them before. I ended up using assessment banking when I had my DD1 so I could defer but not lose my marks. But I guess if it’s going to get easier after Christmas with your toddler it might be worth ploughing on. :/ don’t worry about the house etc. That can wait!!!

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 08/11/2019 14:32

Myspiritan Ty for the advice, yes i am going to try and keep going as things should ease up after christmas

I have been drawn into a debate about leaving a 12 week old to cry Blush why do i get sucked into these threads!

Horehound · 08/11/2019 21:18

My little one is 12 weeks too. Struggling with acid reflux especially in evenings. It's hours of holding him upright otherwise it's screaming and tears :(

cinderfeckinrella · 09/11/2019 06:31

@IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH try poo goes to Pooland. It's an app for phone/iPad or you can get it as a book maybe from health visitor/amazon. Really worked for my ds.

Any advice. Went to doctor today and dd has bronchiolitis 😓 I had chest infection on holiday and ds have had cough/temp last week, tried so hard not to pass it on to dd but doctor said it's pretty unavoidable with older ones in the house. She sent us to hospital to check oxygen and her levels were ok so now at home. Am so scared she'll stop breathing have been watching her most of night. Any advice? I'm using saline drops and slept her upright for a while @dusty did your dd have bronchiolitis too? How long did it last? I remember you were in hospital a good while. Hope your other dc are less cheeky now

Horehound · 09/11/2019 08:06

Arthur slept 12 to 07.30 then woke up I think because I was moving around. He had a feed and is sleeping again. Is that ok?! 12 weeks

DustyDoorframes · 09/11/2019 08:11

@cinderfeckinrella yes, we were in for 3 days with bronchiolitis, as her oxygen levels were not good. It's basically a cold, it can be caused by any number of viruses, and treatment is just waiting, and if oxygen levels are low then the baby needs oxygen while you wait. Sounds like you are doing really well if oxygen levels were ok!
They were very clear about in the hospital was that bronchiolitis tends to be at its worst on days 3-5 of the cold (and that's the days we were in hospital), and that once it starts getting better it keeps getting better, it's not a relapsey kind of thing.
We went in because DD had "retractions" - she was really pulling in the skin below her ribs on every breath. Have you been told to look out for anything in particular?

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 09/11/2019 08:44

Sounds good to me horehound! BabyDECAF is 9 weeks and often does a 6 hour stretch overnight (although not last night!) My eldest two slept 10+ hours by 10/12 weeks!

cinderfeckinrella · 09/11/2019 08:45

Thanks @dusty, yes exactly what they checked her for and told me to look out for, pulling in breath under ribs. I took her in yesterday and like your dd she didn't seem that unwell with it either just a nasty sounding cough and thought I should get checked with weekend coming up. She hadn't really been coughing much. It started 4 days ago now. That's good to know days 3-5 worst. Hopefully she'll ride it out now. Terrifying.

kyles101 · 10/11/2019 04:36

What's everyone getting their new bubas for Christmas this year if you celebrate? We bought a dancing Paddington last weekend because it's hilarious so more for me that ds! I don't think we'll be going mad as he won't remember but he does need some bits...

Stroan · 10/11/2019 06:03

He's getting this: www.johnlewis.com/baby-einstein-magic-touch-drums/p3699087?sku=237586818&s_ppc=2dx92700046625835894&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=CjwKCAiA5JnuBRA-EiwA-0ggPY7ICTWisPyjfGbdSTeLdmmTX04MkS605I9Xd3rKpFreP5r1FDCFeRoCl4kQAvD_BwE

I'm a sucker for wooden toys and these ones are lovely. My mum is getting him the piano from the same set.

He's also getting a rattle and some bath ducks in his stocking. We started a tradition with DD to buy a really nice hardback book for when she is bigger, so will do the same for DS.

All of this is really just so that DD doesn't get suspicious, otherwise I'd have just got the book. He'll get loads from other people and will have no idea!

@horehound just had an 10pm to 5.45am stretch here. I'm putting it down to his immunisations on Thursday, he had a few good night's after the first set. Plus has been barely sleeping during the day.

It makes me really paranoid about my milk supply so I don't even enjoy the big chunk of sleep!

kyles101 · 10/11/2019 07:15

Aw, they're cute. Also a big fan of the wooden toys. Bath toys - excellent idea!!

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 10/11/2019 07:28

So far ive bought baby a tummy time roller toy, and a mirror. I quite fancy a cosatto noodle 0+ highchair so i can have him in the kitchen with me, at my high. If family give money or vouchers which i think they will i will get this. We already have lots of baby toys, a jumperoo etc. I have also put aside some clothes in next size to wrap up just so the older ones dont ask why he has less than them!

Megan2018 · 10/11/2019 09:30

We’ve asked for books, some wooden Grimms toys and bath toys for Felicity from family.
We’ve also got more books (The Snowman and some of the That’s not my ones), a rattle, personalised wooden teether from Etsy and a pretty dress and cardigan. She has a ridiculous amount of toys as were given loads before she was born

DustyDoorframes · 10/11/2019 09:37

DC3 is going to luck out- she's getting a new packet of washable wipes, possibly some bibs...
basically filling a little stocking for the benefit of her big sibs. A name banner, that's a proper present!

db92 · 10/11/2019 09:50

I feel awful reading your posts about Christmas lol we were genuinely not going to get anything? He's our first so we have no suspicious little ones and just didn't know what to get! Maybe I'll rethink and get a few bits for him after all

Stroan · 10/11/2019 09:54

@db92 Christmas is for the parents at this age! I wouldn't worry. DD was 6 weeks old on her first Christmas and we just got her the usual nice book. But that's because I'm sentimental and mushy - I want them to have a full collection of beautiful books from their childhood.

Megan2018 · 10/11/2019 12:20

@Stroan I’m a book lover too, Felicity has loads already but you can’t have too many. We are currently reading through the Complete Winnie the Poo and Peter Rabbit collections.

kyles101 · 10/11/2019 14:24

@db92 to be honest we'll be getting very little... kind of more "necessities" I think really. He already has complete Winnie the Pooh, Roald Dahl, all the Disney ones 😂 we're readers, can you tell!!

High chair also excellent idea 👍 it's more what to tell family etc to get him 😬 also love the personalised teather idea

Horehound · 10/11/2019 16:10

@stroan I know what you mean. I actually kept waking up to check on him plus I had wisdom tooth coming in so kept waking up in pain.

Last night we went to bed earlier and he did wake up twice in the night but fell straight back to sleep. I wondered if that was because we went earlier he missed out on another feed so maybe he was hungrier.
Today he's puked every feed back up and has been in me constantly so maybe it's a growth spurt or maybe he's just hungry after conning. Hard to tell!

Wonder if about something though. Quite often after he's finished feeding if I pick him up so he's lying upwards on me, he will try and climb up me and get quite irritated...dies anyone know what this means? Is he still hungry?

Re Christmas we are just gona get one thing for him to open.he won't have a clue about the day so no point really.
I want a Grimm's rainbow but maybe it will be better for next Christmas?

Horehound · 10/11/2019 16:20

@IVEgottheDECAF / @IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH

Sorry not sure what one to tag you on..I thought you'd have had all baby equipment already! But thanks for quoting that highchair..it looks good actually. I like that it can be used from newborn although I see its still reclining for 0-6months. We need a chair to out him up in to save our arms cause he needs to be upright for ages otherwise he is sick

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 10/11/2019 16:33

I have had a really bad run with highchairs, ive had so many and always fall out with them Blush

Stroan · 10/11/2019 16:44

@horehound that sounds very much like DS when his reflux is particularly bad. He squirms up me and it seems as though he is putting pressure on his own tummy to soothe it, if that makes sense?

We got a Grimm's Rainbow as a new baby gift, I could never have justified the cost but we love it. I think that DD mostly got clothes for her first Christmas which saved us buying them.

Horehound · 10/11/2019 16:48

Yeh that does make sense @stroan

Do you use the rainbow already then? Is it ok for a 4 month old?

Stroan · 10/11/2019 17:13

Ha ha, no! It was actually for both of them but loves in the nursery. It's great for distracting DD while I need to get things done and she think she is building stuff for the baby 🤣

What I would say is that if you want it, get it! They will develop a LOT before their first birthday so grow out of toys quickly anyway. The rainbow is so open ended that it will last for years and in the meantime, it's really pretty!

Horehound · 10/11/2019 17:36

Hehe yeh ok. I will get it!woo
I think I'm just excited to get it for myself hah
