Couldnt see a post natal group so have taken it upon myself to start one! Will obviously still keep up on antenatal also until babies have all arrived!

Shall we start a list of arrivals?

I hope things are going ok today @Stroan! Just a few more hours to go...
I mistimed lunch and everyone was wailing while I made it, oh joy.

@KnobJockey seletti do neon lights you can assemble letter by letter, which is probably cheaper and quicker than having one made, as long as you like their font?

We're also on the infacol. It is helping but DS2 seems much worse than DS1 with spit up and being grizzly and upset after feeds. He struggles to lie on his back and I have to hold him up for an hour after each feed. We're started putting him down on his side because it's not feasible to carry on like this. That seems to work ok-ish although its not recommended.
How do they diagnose silent reflux? I'm wondering if it's that...

db92 · 06/11/2019 11:25

Tummy time...., how are people getting on?

DS seems to hate being in his front when laying in his mat and will either just rest his head to one side or cry. He has good neck and head control when sitting with us and will left and move his head if laying on us. But will not tolerate his mat. Any tips ?

Stroan · 06/11/2019 11:40

@db92 we very rarely do tummy time on the floor, he just puked or rolls into his back. Tummy time on your chest counts too though, and that's how we do almost all of ours.

He is very strong with good head control anyway - he could lift his own head at birth.

DustyDoorframes · 06/11/2019 11:55

@db92 I thought tummy time as a "thing" had been debunked? I've never bothered...

Geegrl19 · 06/11/2019 12:15

@db92 I'm slack and don't really do! He has good control as spends quite a bit of time upright against my shoulder. If I do remember to do on his mat he gets really cranky and I don't want to ruin the rare content moments by upsetting him! He also pukes too.

I remember with my two eldest they always went on about tummy time and think in the end that I used to pretend I did it as they hated it too, lol. I know my choice of position would not be laying on my belly on a hard floor even if it was on a mat.

boodles101 · 06/11/2019 12:38

Not great at tummy time here either. It's mostly done on my chest, at my shoulder or on their twin pillow. If I lay them on the floor flat, they get about 10 seconds in before they start crying and/or being sick.

Megan2018 · 06/11/2019 15:06

Felicity really likes being on her tummy, I basically just flip her over for a few mins every time she is on the play mat.
At music bugs they give us s small flat cushion for support and a mirror, Felicity loved that-she’s already a big mirror fan Grin

KnobJockey · 06/11/2019 19:07

Thanks Dusty, they all seem to be a bit out of price range though unfortunately!

Indie enjoys tummy time for a short stretch, but I never bothered with older DD as she hates it. Didn't seem to hold her back in anyway- she didn't crawl til about 8 months but walked by 10 months, so she just preferred to be up I think.

Dyra · 06/11/2019 21:30

Alice is a big fan of mirrors too @megan2018. Not so much of tummy time though. She has strong neck muscles, but I might give a try of a cushion and mirror tomorrow. See if getting to coo at the stranger in the mirror outweighs her general hatred of being belly down.

bubblegumunicorn · 07/11/2019 10:20

Do you mind if I jump in here my little girl was always an August baby but the August group went very quiet a long time ago my DD was born on 13/08 due date was so 07/08

kyles101 · 07/11/2019 11:01

Hi @bubblegumunicorn you can be our trailblazer and let us know what's to come! Our antenatal group was very chatty, we've slowed down a bit now but I think it's probably because we've all got our hands full! How are you finding things? Is this your first?

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 07/11/2019 11:09

Ahhhhhh

My hands are so full

Need more hands

(DECAF here on a NC)

BabyDECAF had jabs yesterday morning. Was very irritable and unhappy in the afternoon and evening. Two doses of paracetamol. But he slept good (woke at 2am then 6am) a bit off his milk but happier today

I am also trying to potty train just turned 3 year old which is going well but i need him to start asking and making some efforts with pulling pants up and down! Any tips? Not done this for about 7 years as dc3 trained herself overnight!

Also trying to study two open uni modules. One essay due last week just scraped a pass mark. Next one due today but extension til monday not even started yet

On verge of splitting up with dp. Dont really care about this....

House is a tip and its nearly christmas....

Oh and i think i might have a hernia Hmm like i have time for that!

Anyone have any spare hands / time / patience?

kyles101 · 07/11/2019 11:15

@IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH love the name change.

How many more uni modules before you get a break?

Sorry everything seems overwhelming for you, I have literally a fraction of what you have going on and feel that way sometimes. Is dh not being helpful?

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 07/11/2019 11:21

Vastly unhelpful kyles!

My current uni modules only started in october they run until may, then i have three more to do until i am finished. I dont know what possessed me to take on two with a newborn Confused

NotwhereIshouldbe · 07/11/2019 11:50

Welcome at @bubblegumunicorn! We have a couple of August babies on here and I agree with @kyles101 you can give us a heads up of what’s to come!

I’m so sorry @ IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH you are having such a tough time. How are you studying for a degree with four kids?? You truly are superwoman! Do you have any family or friends for support?

Thanks @RolyHappyNorrieTagBetty about the Colief, I’ll need to get some!

LO had her jabs on Monday. She actually stopped crying straight after and slept for the afternoon but when she woke in the evening, my god did she scream! I never heard anything like it! She stopped by about 9pm and seemed much better but upon googling it apparently this is normal! She was all smiley the next day thankfully!

bubblegumunicorn · 07/11/2019 12:07

@IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH oh god I'm doing one OU module and that's enough I applaud you!

Yes this is my first she's 12 weeks old so happy to offer any pointers as everyone catches up 😊

We've had some big firsts over here too that most people don't have DD has a genetic condition where her blood vessels in her eyes are faulty so at 6 weeks old she had to have a general anaesthetic and laser eye surgery. She had to fast from 5 am for it which was so hard! But we got through it so happy to be a shoulder for anyone else who LO might have surgery in the future because it's terrifying!

I definitely find I need more hands I managed to luck out and had full time help for the first 11 weeks (DH paternity the DM took two weeks off then DH took another week went back to work for a few days then came down with appendicitis it's all been happening in my house 😂🙈) so I've had about 11 days just me and her since she was born but now I have to find a way to do everything whilst holding a baby!

It's been a total whirlwind for the last 12 weeks I can't quite work out how it's November already!

DustyDoorframes · 07/11/2019 12:38

Decaf you are an octopus!!!! There is no shame in getting in touch with your OU tutor and pausing one of the modules. You are doing incredibly to be doing any of it!!!
Re potty training, I'm no help, DC2 self potty trained at two completely seamlessly, but since late pregnancy insists on me coming to the loo with her and pulling her pants up and down. Clearly sibling related but so so maddening!! In the last two weeks she's had a ton of accidents too (since we got back from our extra stay in hospital, so no prizes for guessing why...). I feel your (potty) pain!!

Stroan · 07/11/2019 15:35

@ivegotthesparklersBIATCH that is a lot with only two hands. If you are really struggling with the OU, is definitely contact your tutor/lecturer. DH is a lecturer and spends a lot of time helping students to find solutions when they are struggling or are experiencing difficult circumstances. Sorry DP isn't being helpful, do you want to talk to us about it?

For what it's worth, you are bloody superhuman. I'm barely coping with two.

@bubblegumunicorn welcome! I've got a 12 weeker too. Well, he's 12 weeks tomorrow so nearly!

Had our second jabs today, he took it like a pro but has been grumpy since. And has decided that my right boob is no longer acceptable. Screams blue murder at it every 2nd or 3rd feed and arches away from me. That was fun in a cafe this morning.

DustyDoorframes · 07/11/2019 19:10

Oh gawd, @Stroan magic boob power is all I've got, if that doesn't work I've nothing else! That must have been super stressful!

KnobJockey · 08/11/2019 11:06

Decaf, what level modules are you on? And what on? If it's level 1, then just do enough to scrape a pass and don't worry about it, the grade isn't counted anyway, just the pass. If it's higher, do you need to do the modules right now to fit them in? I know it gets tight at level 3 as there's only one sitting a year, so you have to do more than one sometimes to fit them in. If not, then try to hand them back. If you do HAVE to do it now, see what workarounds you need to make it work. I used to struggle after a day at work, asy brain was tired, so if have been much better doing an hour before work instead. Is there anyway to get the pdf of the books on your phone so it's a bit easier to read while you're baby cuddling? Any older teens that you can bribe to write as you dictate?

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 08/11/2019 11:18

Knobjockey i am doing early childhood modules, a level one and a level two. All the modules i need to do only run once a year. I really wanted to do two to knock a year off! I think itll become easier once dc4 is in nursery after Christmas. I have four essays due before then. Two for the level 1 and one for the level 2. As you say the level one grade doesnt matter so just a pass will do for those two. I have only just scraped a pass for the first essay of my level 2 module though so i really need to do much better in the next one. I have 5/6 weeks until then so need to make sure i dont leave it til last min. I keep putting off doing things because i cba Blush

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 08/11/2019 11:19

Funnily enough my level 2 module is mostly online and i HATE that. I prefer books!

KnobJockey · 08/11/2019 11:33

Me too, its so much easier with books! Okay, so how are you with the structure of essays, etc, as it steps up to level 2? I just remember the step up myself meant that I didn't do as good for the first couple of modules until I got to grips with it. Once I had the structure down, it was a lot easier to fit the content in, if that makes sense? Happy to go through what little bits I remember if it will help!

IVEgotthesparklersBIATCH · 08/11/2019 14:14

Knobjockey i may take you up on that in a couple of weeks! Need to get the level one stuff out the way first but thank you!
