Couldnt see a post natal group so have taken it upon myself to start one! Will obviously still keep up on antenatal also until babies have all arrived!

Shall we start a list of arrivals?

@DustyDoorframes sorry to hear your little one is poorly, hope she’s doing better now xx

cinderfeckinrella · 22/10/2019 10:10

So the infacol worked...with 1 feed, massive 💩result!

cinderfeckinrella · 22/10/2019 10:15

Oh no @dusty that's awful. Hope she's better soon. It's stressful this time of year people with their germs trying to keep them away from the baby. Family keep kissing my DD (even on the cheek) I feel like slapping them. Hope she gets better soon

cinderfeckinrella · 22/10/2019 10:20

@Stroan filling his sleep suit leg 🤮just what you need before the nursery run 😭definitely since vaccinations for us too.

DustyDoorframes · 22/10/2019 15:20

Thank you for all the good wishes!
She basically just has a cold, but as she's so little at just 4 weeks today, she needs help getting through it. She caught it off DC2 who started nursery last month, which is classic, according to the ward... it's all very dull and routine (thank goodness!!!) but she's wired up to oxygen, fluids and monitors which make it look very sad, poor pumpkin.
I nearly didn't bring her in - she was pulling her chest in deeply below her ribs on each breath and panting a little, but otherwise just seemed a bit sleepy with a cold. I'm glad I did!!! I was honestly shocked I didn't get sent home with a reassurance. Instead we got an oxygen mask whipped out ASAP!

DustyDoorframes · 22/10/2019 15:23

@Stroan that's some epic pooing! Hopefully not too many more of those on the cards??? Back to small and frequent please Mr!
My top tip for mega poos is that a washable nappy wrap over the top of a disposable nappy is a much better barrier. That saved our bacon a couple of times with DC1, on a train and at a wedding...

Stroan · 22/10/2019 15:59

@dustydoorframes well done on going with your instinct. Hope it's a short stay in hospital, not what you need with a poorly MIL too.

He's been forgiven, I've been rewarded with some beautiful smiles and lots of coo-ing today.

DustyDoorframes · 22/10/2019 16:17

Aaaaa can't wait for smiles and cooing! We have suspicious looks and creaking for now, which very funny and sweet, but smiles and cooing are impossible to beat!

Horehound · 22/10/2019 16:47

Oh I love the smiles and laughs. Arthur has been doing loads recently.

Glad your baby is getting good care Dusty.

I need help with what I could get my mum as a thank you gift. She really was there for me a lot in the first month when j needed her. She did everything she was asked. Was driving an hour a day to come and help. Going to shops and buying me pumps and making me food and stuff.
Any suggestions? Didn't want to just send flowers wanted something more meaningful.

Puglover88 · 22/10/2019 16:52

Oh Dusty that can’t be nice to see, bless her! I hope she’s all better soon. Also, I totally know what you mean about the suspicious looks! 😂 x

Yes I was going to say some sort of voucher, spa day or afternoon tea? My parents have been amazing so will be doing something similar for them. There’s an amazing Michelin star restaurant nearby so was going to get them vouchers for there x

PhoebeBear · 22/10/2019 18:03

My baby started smiling at 6 weeks, now at 10 weeks he makes a lot more noises than just cooing noises now and more like babbles as if trying to talk ! 😊

Horehound · 22/10/2019 18:04

Oh they do like a good dinner out so maybe could do that for them. I was looking at the feetprint charms as I have already taken prints of Arthur's feet..I'm just not sure my mum would wear it.
Spa day would be nice too actually

iano · 22/10/2019 19:23

Oh gosh @DustyDoorframes I'm sorry to hear that. How's she doing now?

Stroan · 23/10/2019 08:10

How is she today @dustydoorframes ?

DustyDoorframes · 23/10/2019 09:05

@Stroan she's doing well, we are now allowed to do some breastfeeding direct from the source, yay! She's finding it quite frustrating with all the tubes in her way, and she gets tired and cross, but it's great to be able to offer it when she asks. And after a very fussy evening we both had a great sleep overnight! So much so that I didn't pump til nearly 7 am, but hopefully my supply will bounce back once we are home and can feed at leisure. I am absolutely in awe of women who exclusively pump! I don't know how you do it!
@Horehound that sounds lovely! If you don't think she'd wear footprint jewellery but would like the thought could you do a plate or something, at one of those ceramic painting places?

Puglover88 · 23/10/2019 10:23

@dusty glad she’s doing better - hope you’re able to go home soon!

db92 · 23/10/2019 10:38

I'm glad little one is on the mend dusty.

We've just had our 6 week check and have been told to change formula. We're currently using Aptamil but GP feels it's what's causing a lot of gas, and crying when trying to pass (rather than colic as they thought previously).

Formula feeding mums- which brands are you using? Has anyone had to change?

NotwhereIshouldbe · 23/10/2019 11:10

@Roly My LO cries in her sleep! We now watch her to see if she settles and she usually stops but she does cry a lot when she’s awake so I suspect she is dreaming of crying :( We’ve has terrible reflux issues and I sometimes wonder if that wakes her up as she often wakes up crying.

I second the idea of baby fingerprint/footprint necklace as a thank you present. My mum was a god send when she visited, cleaned and cooked and did the laundry for me! MIL on the other hand invited herself when baby was only two weeks old and expected me to cook for her and make her cups of tea in between her constant comments that I was spoiling my baby as I don’t let her cry 🙄

DustyDoorframes · 23/10/2019 11:24

@NotwhereIshouldbe your MIL didn't want the baby getting between her and her at seat service! Hmm

happydays00 · 23/10/2019 11:27

@DustyDoorframes so glad to read your little one is on the mend. Hope you get home soon!

@db92 my DD was formula fed and I used Hipp milk as she struggled with constipation and colic. I mix feed DS and use Hipp to top up, he seems to be doing well with it

IVEgottheDECAF · 23/10/2019 11:59

We are using cow and gate with no issues. However, i believe cow and gate, and Aldis own formula both come from same place as Aptimil so maybe avoid those two?

NotwhereIshouldbe · 23/10/2019 12:06

@DustyDoorframes Haha clearly!! How is your LO today? Hope she’s a lot better and she can home 💕
