Couldnt see a post natal group so have taken it upon myself to start one! Will obviously still keep up on antenatal also until babies have all arrived!

Shall we start a list of arrivals?

How is everyone getting on? I've been struggling the past two days: DH was working all weekend and DS was cluster feeding (after spending all morning attached to the boob, he then had 5 bottles in 6 hours in the afternoon and evening). DD, understandably, wanted attention / help during this time and it just felt impossible.

How do those with multiples manage and make it look so effortless? I'm like a frazzled, shouty mess.

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/10/2019 14:25

happydays i have just taken delivery of a sling/carrier thing because i need to be able to use my hands again! The juggling act going on here at times is insane! How old is your dd?

DustyDoorframes · 07/10/2019 14:34

@happydays00 how I'm coping is that my mum is still here and DP is working not much and from home. My mum leaves tomorrow though aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
DS is in school and DD1 is in nursery on Thursdays and Fridays, and DP will be around lots so I've an easy ride, really. But I'm still scared!

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 07/10/2019 15:04

Anyone else still got Jaundice? We're at the hospital for a blood test today :(
I still have my mum with me atm too, am dreading having both kids to myself!!

Horehound · 07/10/2019 15:15

@Littlehouseinthebigcity how old is your baby?
When mine was 4 days we were admitted to hospital for 2 nights due to jaundice and he had 2 lamps on him. It cleared really quickly...I was expecting to be there a week because his levels were so high but 2 lamps seem to do the trick. Don't worry! And also in case your baby does need a lamp be prepared for the eyemask that will be put on. I didn't know this and when I saw the midwife place it on him and he looked so helpless I really cried. But actually he was completely fine and really didn't seem to notice! Oh and another thing..we took the lid of the lamp bed off because we noticed when the babies fell asleep and then flinched they would hit the lid and wake themselves up and scream. The hospital was really warm so he was totally fine with no lid on.
Just some advice you may find helpful xx

So, ds will no longer tolerate formula. I thought he would be ok with a couple of bottles but he brought it back up violently. I felt so bad, and he was a bit spaced out too, it had obviously not agreed with him at all. It was the exact same batch he'd had a couple of weeks ago when we were topping up. Will have to start pumping a little throughout the week to get a bit of a reserve just in case. Otherwise our few hours out were fab, was nice to be a married couple again for a while if that makes sense. Will be asking mum to babysit every month or 2 for us, it did us the world of good.

Trying baby on a bit of gripe water to see if it helps with his wind, he's not particularly grumpy with it, but I do think trapped wind causes him some discomfort.

happydays00 · 07/10/2019 20:39

@kyles101 being spaced out seems an odd reaction to formula? I top up with formula and whilst I'm pretty sure DS can taste the difference initially it doesn't seem to have any other effect. Maybe worth trying again to see if it absolutely was that?

@IVEgottheDECAF I honestly, honestly don't know how you do it. I feel quite pathetic to be honest saying how I'm struggling with just two! My DD is 2 years and 9 months. She's very good when we go out but really knows how to test the boundaries when we're home and can throw some almighty tantrums. She's also been weaning herself off nappies at night and seems to have been timing her toilet trips at night in between DS's feeds so not a lot of sleep is being had!

Quite jealous of those with DH's / mums around to help in the week!

kyles101 · 07/10/2019 20:46

@happydays00 his tummy had bloated right up and there was projectile vomiting going on... I'd be pretty spaced out at that too. Don't really want to risk it again when I can just be a bit more organised in future.

Geegrl19 · 07/10/2019 23:58

@Stroan am picking up a sling today so hope that frees me up to do some chores around the house that have to be done. Think I will need it tomorrow as he has his first lot of needles, not looking forward to it. He is my last too and love the cuddles too. We've been coming out of winter here so has been like having my own hot water bottle.

Another question for those breastfeeding. When will my nips stop feeling like theres sandpaper rubbing against them if anything but my (super sexy) nursing bra is against them?! Drying after the shower is still awful.

Geegrl19 · 07/10/2019 23:59

Re the BF Q above, its now been six weeks

Horehound · 08/10/2019 05:15

Weirdly I've not had any sore nipples!

Geegrl19 · 08/10/2019 07:08

Very jealous @Horehound!

KnobJockey · 08/10/2019 08:02

If anyone was wanting to stock up on a few bits in the bigger sizes for next summer, Asda has started its sale online but it doesn't seem to be advertised. The stuff is obviously not going to be Sunday best stuff! But they have little shorts and rompers for £2 for a 2 pack. I've just spent £40 and got a good selection of bodysuits for over winter, and shorts, dresses and rompers for summer.

KnobJockey · 08/10/2019 08:12

Oh my word they grow too fast, don't they? DD is 13 days old, we are completely off the boob now and onto formula, and she has gone from 9lb14.5 at birth to 10lb4 yesterday. She's drinking up to 4 ounces at a time, and already managing a 6 hour stretch on a night. Only if she's in my arms in bed though, no chance of laying her down elsewhere! I can squeeze max 40 mins from the sleepyhead before she realises and starts squirming. She has such a strong neck, and is quite happily turning her head to watch either me or daddy talk. We were talking to the midwife yesterday, who said because she was big, they often move on faster at this point as their muscles are a bit stronger, and then plateau off as they get a bit older. But it seems so scary, like she's not a newborn already at 13 days old! Picture of her doing the superman in bed- she always sleeps with her arms up over her head.

So cute knobjockey!

BabyDECAF turned one month yesterday! Head control is getting much better and last night we also had a 6 hour sleep! Woop! He is taking between 4 and 6 oz every three hours.

Thanks for the heads up on Asda sale i always stock up for following year Grin

@happydays00 I'm struggling a bit with DD, she was great while DH was on paternity leave but he went back last week and she's been tricky. I only have them alone for 2 days plus the nursery run for the other 3 but she pushes every button. She's lovely with the baby but suddenly really jealous. She gets way more one on one time than he does, but starts pretending to be a baby any time I am holding him.

I think we need more structure in the 2 days we have, we always cope better if we have a reason to leave the house.

@knobjockey DD was 10lb3 and we have a picture of her on day 2 lifting her head straight up off DHs chest and looking at his face. She rolled from front to back super early but then everything else was about the same time as other babies.

DS has had a really strong neck from birth too, but I still believe he'd also have been over 10lb if he wasn't delivered 3 weeks early.

We have his 6-8 week check today and first immunisations on Thursday. Which can't be right because he was JUST born.

easterbuns1 · 08/10/2019 10:03

@KnobJockey so cute! I also feel like my newborn has long since left the building, 6 weeks on Friday and madam just wants to be sat up and looking around. If I have her on my chest she lifts her head and almost spins round so she can stare at me. She is a complete chunk, got hv later in week for first time in 3 weeks so be interesting to see how much weight she has gained.

Megan2018 · 08/10/2019 11:16

Felicity is still tiny but has really good head control, so her size doesn’t relate to her strength which is incredible! MW commented on how strong she is for such a tiny person (I think we are just over 7lb now).
She can turn her head to nose at noise and lift it up, plus her rolling on to her side is now very precise! She is 22 days and newborn clothes still big on her. She also still thinks daytime is for sleeping and night time is the time to be super alert Sad

DustyDoorframes · 08/10/2019 12:06

@Stroan the pretending to be a baby nearly finished me off last time! It drove me round the bend. DP was much better at dealing with it. Just going with it and thinking zen thoughts seemed to be the best way. It hasn't reared it's head yet this time (baby is two weeks today) but I'm dreading the reappearance of "Baby Baby".
Can't believe some of you are past 6-8 weeks now!!

My mum has just left, so feeling oddly tearful and mildly panicked. Training wheels are off. Argh. Not entirely sure how this is going to go... And at the same time feeling intensely jealous of any pregnant woman I see. Hormones...

Stroan · 08/10/2019 12:16

Ah @DustyDoorframes you've just made me feel better. Honestly, she drove me mad with it yesterday and I felt like a crappy, impatient Mum. Every time I was feeding she started crawling round and talking in baby speak. She wedged herself under the sofa and shouted to be rescued (I'm regretting telling her she used to do that as a baby...).

You've got this, one day at a time. I find having low expectations helps!

KnobJockey · 08/10/2019 13:50

All these babies reaching 6-8 weeks already is super scary!

Dusty, I'm on my own from tomorrow- we can do this! I just keep telling myself that older DD is 15 and still alive, even though I was a single parent at the time- I must be able to keep going for the daytime's by myself!

Decaf, glad I helped someone with it! Some of the little outfits for boys looked cracking for £2-3.

KnobJockey · 08/10/2019 13:58

Megan, she sounds like a proper little dot! I do wish that DD was smaller at the start a little bit, just so I could have a tiny one for longer. But Felicity sounds as if she's going to be one of those tiny, fiery girls!

Stroan, that made me laugh, the image of her backing under the sofa, but I bet it's driving you crazy!

happydays00 · 08/10/2019 16:28

@Stroan felt exactly the same yesterday. DD kept announcing "I'm a baby" and insisting on sitting in the bouncer, lying on the play mat etc. She's also in nursery for 3 days and today I made sure we had a group in the morning and an activity in the afternoon and it was so much better!!! Going to do the same next week on Monday and Tuesday and see how that goes!

Horehound · 08/10/2019 16:56

I'm struggling with how to know what to dress baby in! Like I mainly have him in a babgro and sometimes have a vest on underneath. But for actual outfits do I always need a vest? Today I have him in a sleeveless vest and then a long sleeve top and a pair of joggers. Does that seem right?

DustyDoorframes · 08/10/2019 17:09

Do you have the heating on yet @Horehound ? We don't, and our house is mostly about 18 and I'm going with long sleeve popper vest, sleepsuit and cardie or blanket. One layer more than you is a good rule of thumb.
