Have tried Grobag a few nights - but is bloody cold in Glasgow, & i have had my heating on most days. Usually I swaddle at night, seems to help her drop off, but for some reason won't do the trick in the day.

Am getting by without DH , Foxy but does mean have no one to handball DD to first thing in the morning & last thing at night after feeds so i am getting less sleep than before. Parents have been great though - i went into work on wed & my dad took LO for the day. I totally enjoyed the rest.

annobal · 17/08/2007 15:40

I also love grobags. We also have a swaddle blanket which is good for the crib but also great for in the stroller (it has legs!). No answers here I'm afraid - DS3 wakes at least twice a night (usually 2am and 5am) but things have gotten better since we put him in his own room. Makes just as much noise but we can't hear him .

Now I've gone and jinxed it - probably have a crap night tonight.

Bumper, how is your friend? I thought her story was so sad - to be treated like that and then go through a miscarriage .

trendaverter · 17/08/2007 18:43

Have had a SHOCKING shit day
might be back later - yep Daisy did see your msg re nappies but have been flat out and stuck in traffic for 4 hours today NOT HAPPY

Back later when I have calmed down. Probably.

justbeme · 17/08/2007 18:51

Question for you -
when you put your lo's down for sleep in the evening - do you leave a low watt light on for them or do you make them go off to sleep in the dark??

also felt a very bad mummy today - looked at the bit of skin behind the ear lobe (that attaches the ear to the head!) and it was all crusty and smelly - anybody else had this or am i just a horrible mum?

faylisa · 17/08/2007 19:02

I've always put DD to bed with a very dim nightlight so it's not pitch black and I am doing same with DS.

Have just checked DS's ears and they are ok, but bizarrely he does get quite 'cheesy' feet!

Charlie999 · 17/08/2007 19:09

My DD goes to sleep in the dark after last feed at 10pm. From now until then, she sleeps down here with us....

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 17/08/2007 19:36

DS goes to bed about now ish (being settled by daddy at the mo) in the dark - he's not usually totally asleep but drifts off within about half an hour or so (we watch him on the ccvt monitor on our tv with night vision!! and he seems quite happy! And I use the dimmer switch to put the light on very low when I go and feed him in the night - usually aroung 4 ish.

Not so crusty behind ears but he gets really cheesy smelly hands (in between his little fingers)!

Jamantha · 17/08/2007 19:57

DD goes to be about 7, and is usually asleep by 8 (but not tonight). At the moment, the room isn't totally dark at this time, with a little daylight filtering through the curtains. Later, when it is dark, we put a light on outside the bedroom so a little light comes in where the door is ajar so that when I get up to see to her in the night I don't trip over and stub my toe on the bed.

trendaverter · 17/08/2007 19:59

Have had ear crust and cheesy hands and he gets sore if we don't look after all the little folds in his neck etc as well.

Had a very bad day. Am slowly cheering up. Poor DS had an even worse day.

Daisy - I have 10 aplix bamboozles, size 1, and 2 size 2 popper fluffles. Also 3 wraps, 1 brand new, and loads of liners (also new...seems I bought too much).
I am going to put the fluffles on ebay as they are brand new, never even been washed and therefore I hope to get similar to what I paid for them, the bamboozles I am open to offers! They are in perfect condition - they have only been worn a few times.

I loved the idea of reusables and I did actually like using them, but DS's shape (he is long) didn't seem to work too well with them, they were baggy round his belly but tight round his legs, and combined with the long drying time for bamboozles I just couldn't be arsed!

Size 1 bamboozles are meant to be 8-18lbs but I would only go for it if you have a long way to go before 18lbs, like I say DS was only 12lbs at the time and they were tight round his legs. He IS a big boy though!

Hope this helps - let me know if you're interested otherwise it's ebay all the way!

Phoenix · 17/08/2007 20:10

Hello everyone me again!!

Trace2's asked me to let you know that Chloe's back in hospital . She had another fit, like the last one that put her in hospital, but this one lasted a long time. She sent me a text at 3pm to say Chloe was resting and i think they must be keeping her in overnight.

justbeme · 17/08/2007 20:16

Oh poor Chloe and Trace

Glad to hear your feeling abit better TA - I spoke to a lady from the nappy lady and she asked about the parents heights etc to work out which nappies may suit best ( i havent ordered any yet tho)

am very of all your lo's who go to bed at 7 or 8 at night!! what age did that start? im lucky if i can get lucy down at 1030.

so lots of cheese and bit of crust everywhere it seems = so im not feeling so

Jamantha · 17/08/2007 20:24

justbeme - while it is good that DD goes to bed by 8, as it means me and DH get some evening to ourselves, it does mean she normally then wakes at 11ish, 2ish and 5ish. And as I normally have to go to bed by 9.30 as I'm exhausted, that means 3 night feeds for me, so I am in turn of those with only 1 or 2 night feeds.

sputnik · 17/08/2007 20:42

Poor Chloe and Trace, things were starting to look better.

Makes me feel bad for thinking I have had a really shit day with DD. Though she potty trained very well on the pee front, we have yet to conquer poo and basically it's a huge drama every time. She won't poo in the potty, she won't poo in a nappy. She won't play or watch DVDs, she just follows me around all day saying she wants to poo, her tummy hurts, and basically doiong a good impression of someone in stage 2 labour. Finally when DH got home we pinned her down and gave here a glycerin suppository (impossible on my own). I'm completely worn down by the whole thing so if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.

Baby Sputnik is a delight by comparison (luckily, because when they cry in stereo it is hell on earth)

foxybrown · 17/08/2007 21:09

Poor you and poor DD! Annobel Karmel does a dried fruit compote - basically a load of dried fruit (prunes, apricots, peaches, pear etc) boiled up in a little water and then you blend it til smooth. Its a puree meant for babies, but is very sweet and I add it to porridge. Should soften things up and get things moving! Hope that helps

loonylovegood · 17/08/2007 21:20

Oh sputnik, how crap! I hate potty training, I've given up again. It's too stressful for all concerned!

Hope you and chloe are ok trace, I'm thinking of you xx

bumperlicious · 17/08/2007 21:43

Evening all,

TA what happened today? Hope you are feeling better. Sputnik - sounds v stressful - not looking forward to it!

We have one of those Lumie alarm clocks which wake you up with a light, but you can put the light on dim which we do, mainly so that we can see DD if we check on her in the night or have to put her dummy in. She doesn't always sleep in the evening though, like now (though we have just got back from a BBQ). Feed her about 10.30 /11 then go to bed usually have a feed between 3 and 5ish. She doesn't always sleep well after that feed either - it's unpredictable. She is pretty crusty as well, in her neck folds and between her fingers bizarrely!

sputnik · 17/08/2007 21:48

don't blame you Holly, I tried with DD last year and it was no go. Also difficult if you spend half your day breastfeeding. I would've left it a while longer too but DD starts at the state nursery in september and I'm not sure they change nappies there. Plus she's 3 fgs

Will give the dried fruit thing a go too, though I think it's really a psychological thing - she has had plenty of lentil soup this week. DH is proposing a good dose of epsom salts.

sputnik · 17/08/2007 21:50

Glad I'm not the only one whose baby has filthy hands.

riabutterflew · 17/08/2007 22:54

Iknow this is no use as advice, but DS2 (now 31/2) fought against potty training when I was pushing it, and has really cracked it by himself since DS3 came along. We have the occasional wee but he seems to like getting up really early (before my eyes are willing to open) and doing a poo on his potty outside the bathroom door! He also likes to describe them in great detail (a "surprise" poo, a "mountain" a curly one etc).

DS3 gets sticky round his neck but haven't noticed any crustiness. DS1 used to get the ears thing though.

We went OUT today (local freeport shopping). I had the whole of the party area to myself to BF in! and we managed. Shan't rush out tomorrow especially to feed in public though!

Suppose I should go to bed as DS3 asleep, and who knows when he'll wake up. I feel a but moany for last nights post. It would be nice to be able to predict his pattern is what I mean I think.

Love to trace & Chloe.

Have a good weekend everyone. Rx

daisyandbabybootoo · 18/08/2007 00:00

Phoenix...tell Trace I'm thinking about them all . This must be awful for her and her family.

Hi Bumper,
Yesterday I drove down to Eastbourne (near bournemouth) to visit my nan who hasn't seen DS yet. It was a nice day until in the park my dog was running around playing and jumped over a little wall, clearly not realising there was a 6ft drop and a road the other side. Luckily he is ok but shaken.
Then on the way home I was heading back to the motorway, DS was screaming and hungry, but I knew I was no more then 5 mins from a service station - wrong. His screaming distracted me, I ended up hopelessly lost in Poole, he screamed so much he was covered in sweat, went blue and stopped breathing for about 5 seconds, I parked on some double yellow and sorted him out then sat and cried, then when I found my way back I got stuck for 4 hours in friday night traffic. Woohoo!

I am buying a sat nav today. Can't afford it but I don't want to be scared of going out anymore just in case I get lost!! I used to be so competent, I travelled round the world FFS

bumperlicious · 18/08/2007 08:17

oh ta what a shitty day. you and ds don't have much luck with traffic do you? are he and the dog ok now? are you ok? i was thinking yesterday that satnav is a small price to pay for not nearly crashing while trying to read a map while driving which I am wont to do!

8 and a half hours sleep for dd last night! (11-7.30 - perfect!) now if only I could stop waking up in the early hours to check on her and if she would stop being so noisy when she sleeps I might actually feel human again soon! (It can't last, it can't last!)

trace2 · 18/08/2007 08:36

morning just a quick one, as we picking things up, chloe was rushed in yesterday about 11 am she started having a seizure, (she had little one but came out of) but this one she was not comming out of, so was rushed to a&e when got there she was coming out of it but then went she back in , they gave her meds to bring her out of it but they didnt work first time or seconed but then gave her one up her bum, with in a min she was more relaxed, it as comfirmed she as fits, but we dont know why they was giving her a mir yesterday, but she woke up so doing it on monday. she will be in over weekend maybe more, and shes in high dependency unit.

she is very sleepy, not her self just so worried it not done any damage as as yet she dont know me. but at least they are now really trying to find out whats wrong

trendaverter · 18/08/2007 08:37

My god bumper you and I could be twins!
DS went to 6.30 this morning (went to bed at 9.30), he too would have gone longer but we find it easier to wake him up and shove a bottle in just to stop the grunting!

DS is as right as rain now, although he looked very pale and interesting last night. He looked pretty bad but he was chirpy and eating so I knew he was ok.

The dog on the other hand seems pretty sore - unsurprising really, but I can't feel any breaks or anything.

The trouble is with DS in the car and with me being so tired/frazzled, I just can't navigate like I used to - I used to be great but I just can't think of that many things at once now!
DH is sick of me ringing him up while he is at work yelling help I am lost so we are going sat nav shopping today. One less thing to worry about.
Anyone got sat nav? Any recommendations?

trendaverter · 18/08/2007 08:39

Oh Trace that's awful
You must be beside yourself! Poor little mite
I don't know how you cope.
My fears and complaints are always put into perspective, I really am thinking of you and hope that soon you have some answers for poor Chloe, I really hope that they can identify what is wrong and then you can get on the right meds etc.
