I love being part of a group that recognises the benefits of a good, supportive bra; the restorative value of a hot tea cake; and the important role that smut can play in a relationship.

I haven't ed so much in ages. You've all made me feel so much better!

accessorizewithbabysick · 02/11/2007 20:39

I do like it when the conversation turns smutty goes off to ebay to buy another jennifer crusie and look for jean johnson
Never heard of the movie, wb, but thinking about a (presumably) attractive man is always a boost IMO. How're you feeling today?
Indith, I did have a look for slingmeets previously but nothing I could get to easily. Seriously thinking of exchanging ergo for a proper mei tai esp after reading about their business practices.

accessorizewithbabysick · 02/11/2007 20:40

Good god, indith, the pecs on the JJ covers!

MargosBeenPuttingSpellsOnMN · 02/11/2007 21:44

WB & FGS &

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 02/11/2007 22:16

btw Godzilla - what/who are scuttlebuggers?

I've missed something.

Elibean · 02/11/2007 22:23

AWBS, no, I failed to buy a thing otehr than that M&S bra But I will.

How are you, WB and Magnolia? Hope on the mend...though doesn't sound like you are, WB? Hugs and get wells!

dd2 is definitely not ok. Took her to GP today after another 24 hours of endless pooey nappies and two major vomits. GP said to try giving her Activia yoghurt over weekend in case the ABs a few weeks ago had thrown out her gut flora (ha, she threw up the first attempt so we resorted to acidophilus in her bottle) then stool sample on Monday, then if not settled down malabsorption tests.
I asked what they involved and he looked away and muttered about coeliac disease and other very unlikely things (he meant CF).

I'm trying to be sensible, but when she ate virtually nothing tonight then threw up her milk all over the place again I felt very

Sacha, if you're around, please can you tell me how long your LOs diarrhoea went on for? Any tips? Was he ill with it? dd is so...normal, and bouncy, though getting paler, redder eyed, and more tired every day she's still very much herself, IYKWIM. Not grouchy.

Right - am off to take care of dd's mummy and get some kip. I have a stonking sore throat tonight, and will do wahtever it takes to boost my immune system - including wild sex, teacakes, or ten hours sleep

Elibean · 02/11/2007 22:23

And FGS - knew I'd left someone out - get well too!

weirdbird · 02/11/2007 22:46

LOL - Between you lot and flirting with my first boyfriend on MSN, my mind is most definitely in the gutter!

Marc Blucas looks like www.thecinemasource.com/moviesdb/images/MarcBlucas2-300.jpg For those not in the know.

Oh Eli - Sounds very worrying, will hope her poor tummy calms down this weekend!

You can get probiotics for babies from the same company that makes infacol

I am working tonight as its Mth end and have so far done little to nothing on it, fortunately cause of the weekend I get 2 extra days as it should be done for 3rd working morning, but cause 3rd day is a Sat I get till Mon.

Am feeling a bit better in some ways and not in others, managed to cough up stomach acid earlier on which was a treat and my very sore throat really appreciated, but don't feel that wheezy anymore.

Oh, eli, I'm so sorry to hear dd2 is still unwell. Do you think she might be lactose intolerant? Ds1 was until he was over a year old. Does the GP think a different formula might help at all?

Halloween is such a huuuge deal over here I've had hardly any time to MN! WB so over the vandalizing. I've never known anyone to have that happen but I think it may be more common over there. Have noticed several MN'ers mentioning it.

bp, hope you're feeling better soon. I'm seriously considering getting a flu vax this year. I never have before but I guess I'm getting paranoid in my old age.

AQ- I got a mei tai but I'm not really comfortable with it yet. It's one of the summer ones (hence big discount) so I'm wondering if part of the problem is the material. It's kind of slick so that you can wear it around the water and it dries quickly. Do your ties stay tight?

FieryGlassSlipper · 03/11/2007 08:05

Quick dip in as I still feel rough and have inlaws coming today.

Eli - dont panic. When any of us a tummy bug it can take ages for our tummy to restore its natural balance. ABs can also kill the good bacteria which makes it take longer.

The activia stuff (or equivalent) might work. Perhaps mix with milk on weetabix or something?

I had a problems a few years ago following taking antibiotics for something else and I had a dodgy gut for ages. Hopefully it is as simple as that. Try giving her banana as that can firm up the poos. And also rice (maybe rice cakes?) or even add baby rice to her food as it will help bulk things up a bit. And does she like toast? Or does it make her gag? It is bland but filling iykwim.

If ever I or my DDs are sick I stick with bananas, rice, apples, toast and it always seems to help.

Elibean · 03/11/2007 08:19

Thanks, its so nice to log on feeling wobbly and get grounding thoughts and reassurance

She's had the runs twice this morning, its only 8am FGS, she's off her food - won't touch banana recently, for some reason, but we're going to make some sushi rice for her today (so she can pick it up, because she won't let me feed her much!).

I did read somewhere that babies get the runs for longer than adults/kids do, though the GP seemed surprised that she still had them after five days. We're going to try no wheat this weekend, just to see if it makes a difference - if it was coeliac, it would help, if it isn't, it won't hurt.

Jabber, I thought of you over Halloween! Our neighbours are American, the next ones along are Canadian, and they make the best pumpkin lanterns I've ever seen

FGS, hope you feel better for the inlaw visit - or that they help out so you can rest! WB, cough sounds horrid, not surprised you're gazing at mr gorgeous to take mind off it

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 03/11/2007 16:47

Aw Eli, Hope she's better soon xx

Indith · 03/11/2007 19:27

AQ!

BP you sum up the thread beautifully

Eli so sorry for your dd, I hope she has just been hit hard by a bug and there is nothing underlying.

Take care of yourselves all you bug ridden lot. I order you all to curl up on sofas and drink tea/hot chocolate.

Ds is still manic teething it seems even though he has in the past few days added 2 teeth to his collection. He gets addicted to yoghurt while teething and eats little else. This is all well and good but the poos he does when on a yoghurt diet are the sort that are sent by some twisted deity to try us. Poor boy bashed his chin on the floor and cut his lip. The trials of having teeth

GodzillionsOfBonfiresBumcheek · 03/11/2007 20:36

Sorry not enough time to read back but noticed a query directed my way so...

Margo...scuttlebuggers is basically a chat thread of the type where people go off topic and carry on chatting (began as the original word game, then 'word game with chat', then decided to come up with another name - scuttlebutt (due to the meaning of gossip!) which got changed and stuck! Errr...sorry if that was too long and confusing.

FieryGlassSlipper · 03/11/2007 21:35

Still have cough and cold and period.

Hope all babies are well.

weirdbird · 04/11/2007 00:21

Awww FGS - Sends more chocolate

I am due on tomorrow, mainly known cause I have had the PMT from hell again today, don't what it is since I started again post DD2 but have never had PMT so bad before in my life, my poor DH cause it seems to mainly consist of me wanting to string him up over anything and everything

Jabber I think that Halloween in the US is a very different deal, mainly cause it is a tradition over there. Its never been very popular here until recently.

Eli - Yes the male fantasising has mainly been a divering tactic to stop me thinking about how ill I feel!

Good news is I actually feel a lot better today despite wanting to kill DH for most of it. Am trying to be sensible with the mth end work and am heading to bed in a minute, and am still slathering myself up in Vicks every night which always seems to work well.

Ohh and on the cute baby front, Hannah has spent all day emptying and refilling my tin cupboard for me and has enjoyed herself thoroughly, makes me tempted to just get rid of all the toys!

Sympathy to you too wb.

What a morning for us!

DD didnt want a breastfeed this morning . She lay down next to me and sucked her thumb. I tried a few times and she wasnt bothered. After about half an hour of snuggling double we went downstairs and DH gave her some milk from a cup. She had 4oz (about 4 x anything she has ever had before) and then had some more snuggles from me. I feel strangely sad, happy at the same time. It was as if she was saying 'It's ok Mummy, I still love you very much!'

Then we were all getting dressed upstairs later and DD fell down the stairs triple . Luckily we have stairs that split halway and then turn so she fell down about 7 stairs. DH and I felt like shit but she just smiled at us

Now I'm worn out and it's only 10.00!

Elibean · 04/11/2007 22:13

omg, fgs, I'd have needed three bars of G&Bs and the Sunday papers after that lot Its odd when they suddenly do something so...'grown up', isn't it? Bittersweet. I'm glad she's ok, hope you're ok too!

Just a fast post from me to say I'm now utterly snotty, have earache, and am sneezing for Britain - but am really really happy because dd2 has finally started to get well You were all right, I was panicking, it was probably a virus (though I'll take in the sample tomorrow). She ate a huge supper, drank her milk, did NOT throw up, did NOT have the runs straight afterwards, and has gone to sleep like, um, a baby.

Very odd that no one else caught it, and it lasted a whole week but I don't care -am just reeling with relief!

weirdbird · 04/11/2007 22:44

So glad she has kept her food down Eli, its just such a relief when they don't throw up isnt it!!

I am also very pleased to report that Hannah hasn't thrown up after any food (we wont count bf's!) for almost 2 weeks

Am scared to believe the end may be in sight!

Indith · 04/11/2007 23:15

Yay for non vomitting babies!

I'm off to bed

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 04/11/2007 23:50

WB & Eli - it's good to see the light at the end of the tunnel eh?

Hope your cold is shortlived Eli.

Elibean · 05/11/2007 13:45

THanks! Have never been so snotty (tried to find nicer word, isn't one, sorry) but dd2 still eating well and no more runs. NOt quite back to normal, but well on the way - loud, active, giggly etc.

WB, well done Hannah - two weeks is brilliant!

Elibean · 06/11/2007 10:07

Eek, where is everyone?! I expected to find reams of chat between my last post and this one

Are you all sick? Really hope not!

Or are you all tucked up somewhere warm, reading interesting books, eating chocolate and teacakes and supping Milo?

babypowder · 06/11/2007 12:08

Oh, Eli, I'm here! Have finally stopped mopping up sick (first DD1, then DD2, then me, then DH) Triple yuk!

So glad your LO is feeling better. Hope the rest of the babies and mums are on the mend.
