Oh Calm - are you and dd1 okay? I use cold water from the tap to do dd2s bottles. I find it hard to limit the risks. It's either dd1 or the dog under our feet when there's cooking to be done.

Indith - did I read your last post right? Are you having to pay for the hire of a cleaner to clear up in a shop?

babypowder · 10/08/2007 13:07

Calm, you poor thing. Glad to hear that DD1 is on the mend, though.

Indith, surely the shop isn't making you pay for their faulty glass? I bet your DPs face was a picture, tho Hope yor allergies are settling a bit.

I'm soooo glad I have girls. At least I understand their plumbing ....

I bet you're all basking in lovely hot sun at the moment, aren't you? It's raining here - again. I'm making shepherd's pie for tea, just because it feels like the kind of day that needs a warming meal. Where's my summer???

weirdbird · 10/08/2007 14:19

Anyone else free next Thursday the 16th, for a meet up?

Alm and I are either thinking of meeting at mine in Staines.

Calm, what a fright! Glad she is healing up OK.

Indith, i certainly hope you're not having to pay for the glass. Just threaten to sue for mental anguish

We have an ultrasound of ds2 playing with his penis! He loves it and has always reached for it as soon as the diaper comes off, lol. I've even begun to think he is left-handed as that is the one he always uses.

Did I post already that we have a tooth? It's on the bottom, but I'm still holding out for Dracula fangs first on the top like magnolia's ds

Here's another one with an older child playing with the baby toys. I picked up a little push toy for ds2 the other day since he is pulling up so much and ds1 started racing around the house with it. Had to put a stop to that pronto. A common phrase nowadays is "Mommy's nerves are shot, please try to be a little quieter" Doesn't tend to work very well though...

Calmriver · 10/08/2007 18:15

Is anyone of your babies saying anything? Both mine have started just before 9 months!Dd1 must have thought it fantastic as she's not stopped since!!!
WB- do you mind if we meet at Bushy park?...there is an ice cream van parked there each day I see..

jabberwocky · 10/08/2007 18:28

We're getting lots of Dada and Mama but that's it so far. I'm using the baby sign for eat when I feed him now and he seems to understand but hasn't signed back yet.

babypowder · 10/08/2007 21:00

Given that DD1 has talked non-stop for what feels like forever, I'm awfully glad that DD2 seems quite happy to burble and ocassionally throw the odd hard consonant in! According to my parents, my younger sister didn't speak properly until she was 4 as I did all her talking for her.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 10/08/2007 21:28

we get the odd g-g-g but that's about it.

magnolia1 · 10/08/2007 21:40

Oh I missed the new thread

Calm, I hpe dd1 is ok xxx
Sacha, have a great holiday.

Hope the sick babies are feeling better x

Ds1 has found his willy and pulls it sooooo hard

2 more teeth coming and he is so miserable and off solids a bit too.

I was at Bushy park this week. Can't make next week as its dd1's birthday on Friday.

There is an evening meet up in Kingston on 22nd Sept if anyone can make it??

magnolia1 · 10/08/2007 21:41

We get lots of 'aaahs' and 'b's

FunkyGlassSlipper · 11/08/2007 09:02

Well DD2 was sick in her cot again in the night, everywhere

We're off out today to see relatives and she is in her prettiest dress. Hope it stays that way

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 12/08/2007 00:42

Is dd any better FGS?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 12/08/2007 12:04

Everything crossed. No more vomit.

I'm reintroducing food (although she loved having nothing but breast milk yesterday and in the night) She fed from 3-4am and 6-7am so I'm knackered after getting used to sleepy nights....

I really feel for all of those with reflux babies as tbh I'd forgotten how awful vommitting can be.

magnolia1 · 12/08/2007 12:11

Glad she is feeling better x

Ds1 has been sleeping downstairs in the travel cot for the past 3 nights. The 1st night he was up 12am, 3am, 5am, 8am. The 2nd night was 1am, 3am, 6am. Last night was 12am then 7.30am!!!!!!!!

So I think it's the space really. Tried him in cot upstairs with me and dh downstairs and he still woke every hour ruling out us waking him. His cot is an Ikea one and small but I have a bigger one in the loft. Can't use it till we cahnge rooms as there is no space.
Will travel cot be ok for a month or so???

FunkyGlassSlipper · 12/08/2007 12:58

Yes, I think travel cot will be fine for a month.

accessorizewithbabysick · 12/08/2007 16:20

FGS, glad your dd is better, hope you get a better night tonight. Although it is nice offer them comfort via a bf, ds2's been a little unwell the last couple of weeks and feeding more as a result. But thank god, no vomiting, I'm so squeamish about it although I haven't a problem with poo for some reason.
Magnolia, sounds like you've cracked it! You must be feeling like a new woman with several hours of uninterrrupted sleep behind you (assuming one of the dd's didn't wake you also) You could always buy a better mattress to fit the travel cot? If it's the space, could you make his cot seem more cosy (bumper etc...)? I'm sure it will make little difference at his age/weight to be in there a month and he'll be a different baby with some sleep too.
Have been following but not posting for a while, just barely checking in a few times a week. Back at work 2 days last week, so I've gone from 3 lovely days with ds2 alone to 3 days with both boys and 2 at work. Finding it hard to getting any cooking etc done, I'm clearly a most disorganised person and my house is getting me down. I am loving having the 2 of them though, it's really fun at present as they're so great with each other. DS2 is dada-ing and other consonants very very loudly, but no sign of crawling thank god as stuff everywhere for him to choke on!

Olihan · 12/08/2007 19:56

Magnolia, CONGRATULATIONS, that's fantastic. If he's finally sleeping who cares where it is! If ds2 decided to sleep all night on the top step of the stairs I'd leave him there .

I'm v as ds2 has gone backwards and has been up every 3- 3.5 hours for the last few nights. Last night he woke at 2am and decided he wasn't going back to sleep until 4am. Then dd, for some random reason got up at 4:15 and sat at the top of the stairs shouting for ds1 who promptly woke up and refused to go back to sleep. DH finally convinced him that he wasn't getting up but I didn't get back to sleep until 5. Blooming nightmare!

Anyhoo, ds1 and dd have gone on holiday to my mum's for a few days so ds2 will be an only child for a few days. It's very odd to only have 1 child around and he's definitely missing them, he keeps looking round with a slightly puzzled expression as if to say 'where's my entertainment?' .

Olihan · 12/08/2007 19:57

Oops, forgot to say glad dd2 is better.

WB, how's your dd2?

magnolia1 · 12/08/2007 21:23

FGS, Every time I look at your initials I think For Gods Sake

I will look into getting a better mattress for the travel cot.
I actually felt more tired today but think my body is not used the sleep so thats why

Oli, hope your ds gets back to a longer sleeping pattern.

accessorizewithbabysick, I am dreading the crawling. I keep worrying about stuff the other kids leave about that he may choke on.

accessorizewithbabysick · 12/08/2007 21:57

Oh, every time I come back on sleep vibes are required left right and centre! Count myself lucky that ds2 just gets up at 5ish and then takes an hour to quieten down again. But I gave him dream feed last night and whilst he still woke at 5.15, he didn't need milk and settled until 7. perhaps it was the alcohol

Magnolia, didn't mean you had to get a mattress, just that it might make you feel better about putting him in there. If you and he are getting sleep, it sounds like a fab solution to me! I don't have 4 other kids, just ds1 (3.8) but he seems to create choking and trip hazards everywhere he trails these days. I quite like it now as I can stick ds2 on the floor with a few pillows and toys and he's very happy for 20 mins whilst I tidy or so forth. Don't suppose it will last long. But was watching ds1 video when he learnt to crawl, he was sooooo pleased with himself!

magnolia1 · 12/08/2007 22:03

I know you didn't mean it that way but I would feel better if we had a thicker mattress.

Ds1 is at the stage of trying to reach for things when sitting up but then reaching too far and toppling over

jabberwocky · 12/08/2007 22:09

Magnolia, when we were on vacation I folded a comforter and put it inside the travel crib to make a more comfy mattress for ds2. Perhaps if it's just for a month you could try that?

Oh and congrats on the sleep! When ds2 started sleeping better I did actually feel worse for a couple of days It was as if my body didn't know how to react to a full night's sleep.

castlesintheair · 13/08/2007 09:23

Hi everyone, hope you are all enjoying the summer! I'm loving it, especially having my 3 around me and NO ROUTINE. Yay! Still don't get much sleep (3 hours if I'm lucky) but hey ho it's not forever and I'm used to looking and feeling like sh**e these days!

DD2 is still extremely keen to get on with life. Had to lower her cot to bottom level yesterday as she tried climbing out of it . She's cruising too. Thankfully, the reflux seems to be easing a bit. The best bit (now we are over the worse) is her in-house entertainment - DS & DD1. DS in particular is really good at keeping nasty chokable objects out of her reach, though I do have to watch her constantly.

I've been away for the last 2 weeks & am hopefully going to Scotland on Saturday. Time flies when you are having fun!!

castlesintheair · 13/08/2007 09:24

Magnolia, meant to say, DS slept in a travel cot for about 3 months when he was 2 and it doesn't seem to have done him any harm. Plus, DD1 didn't sleep in a proper cot until she was 6 months. Great news that you are finally getting some sleep!

magnolia1 · 13/08/2007 09:29

I love the holidays but dh has taken the debit card and left me with £8 in the house Supposed to be going out!!! Oh Men are a royal pain in the arse!

Ds1's reflux is pretty much gone We have reduced the ranatidine and he seems fine so will hopefully stop meds next week.
