Sallyallyally - sorry to hear about your bad journey home. I have had to get over my horror at my dreadful singing voice as dd's favourite scream stopper is "the wheels on the bus". I had to buy a cd from woolworths to extend my range as I was getting bored. dh hates the cd and made me promise to not play it when he's in the car but I was twice proved right at the weekend when the cd and my tuneless singing caused peace to descend in our car .

at the pulling up to standing, dd stands up well now if we hold her hands.

looking forward to my stick of rock, although I just ate a fab .

peachygirl · 29/08/2007 21:41

See some of you tomorrow. The weather looks good so we maybe able to have our picnic

MoosMa · 29/08/2007 22:13

I don't suppose the midlands meetup is on the 7th is it? DH is going to see an old friend in Warickshire you see...

SmudgeMum · 30/08/2007 12:25

Afternoon - hope those of you meeting up have had a lovely day. I was trying to wangle being in the Midlands too Moosma but I don't think I'll manage it because we don't know anyone that far down
Just saying a quick hello. Things are fine but Dominic seems to sleep for about 40 min naps in the day which just gives me time to hang washing out, wash up, put bin out etc etc and then when I sit down here, time's up!! He's sitting really well and can bum shuffle and wriggle backwards on his tummy so nothing is safe. He loves standing and is nearly pulling himself up. We went swimming today and he was trying to do chin ups to climb out onto the side!
Off to do the garden because it's lovely and sunny here!

Bienchen · 30/08/2007 19:16

Hi all,

no dates set for the Midlands meet up as I have not had any emails.

Hope those that met up in London had a good time. Off to play badminton in a mo, so will catch up properly tomorrow.

peachygirl · 30/08/2007 21:04

Hi all The London meet up was great. I think a good time was had by all and it was really nice to be able to put faces to names. I was ther with marmitemad, DCMY and babydriver, Daizydo sadly couldn't make it.
It was a bit chilly so we went and sat in the Giraffe restaurant, we had a smoothie and lunch and chatted and chatted.
Babydrivers baby has lovely blue eyes, Marmitemad's baby has a lovely smile and DCMY's baby has lovely sandy hair.
We did talk about another meetup and did mention the possibility of the baby show in october.
I will post a photo tomorrow

forgottenfreetime · 31/08/2007 13:55

Bienchen have you not had my email yet? Tried twice yesterday and thought it had worked. Basically, can make any day except 7/8th Sept and week of 25th. After 2nd Oct I can do Mon, Thurs and Fris since I work Tues and Weds.

Sallyallyally · 31/08/2007 22:06

Hello. Have added some more pics from weekend sailing. Not very clear as taken on my phone!

Bienchen · 01/09/2007 21:29

FFT & Midlands meet up: have not hand any emails yet. Must change my deodorant ... no seriously, pls email me [email protected]. Ta!!!

Sallyallyally · 02/09/2007 10:05

Bienchen...I have emailed you!!!!

andyrobo237 · 02/09/2007 13:47

Sallyally - lovely photos - that swing looks fab!

All busy here getting ready for the return to school (is it wrong to say hurrah!)! All her skirts needed the waist taking in (next time I will get the more expensive ones with adjustable waistbands!) and name labels in everything - iron on as I am lazy!

T is a little monkey - rolls everywhere and shuffles around to get in different directions. Weaning going well - mainly purees but he will eat bread, crackers and today had a lump of lancashire cheese! I do give him finger food and his main food (basically our tea from the night before) has lumps in, which he is cpoing with fine!

Hope all are well and enjoying the autumnal weather!

MoosMa · 02/09/2007 17:18

Is anyone else having trouble their LOs to drink? T is doing well with pureed slop and I want to move on to the next step but she won't drink anything apart from milk and I don't want her to get dehydrated. How do you all do it?

Went to look around my parents' barn today, we're hoping to convert it into a house with showroom and workshop attached [hopeful emoticon]. It really is lovely and would be so nice to live in, back in the proper countryside for the DDs to grow up with no neighbours and nothing but fields around the house

andyrobo237 · 02/09/2007 20:38

We are struggling with milk (no change really!) but I read somewhere that they should be having around 20 oz a day when having three mini meals. T averages about 20 - 24 oz, so that is ok by me. We were just discussing dropping the 10pm feed - he doesnt wake up hungry at 7am, so I am going to knock it down over the next two weeks - an ounce at a time. He isusually fast alseep and I just pick him up and stuff the bottle in his mouth. He drinks until it is nearly or all gone and then goes back in the cot - 10 mins done and dusted!

MoosMa - how much milk is your LO having over the day? I also give T yoghurt and cheese today so he is getting the calcium, he also drinks more out of a beaker (milk or water) rather than the bottle - have you tried a beaker? I got a cheap one that is free flowing and he loves chewing on it to help his gums! (better than my finger anyway!)

marmitemad · 02/09/2007 20:49

Peachygirl - Thanks for organising the London meet up, dd and I had a fab time . Hope I didn't talk too much???

Well I have had my first hangover in a very long time today. dd stayed overnight at DHs parents for the first time and we went to a wedding where I proceeded to drink rather a lot of wine and tequila (why?), danced all evening with random people and stumbled into bed at 2:30am. Have felt very achy and sorry for myself today but I did have such a great time though .

dd doesn't drink much water despite my persistance and I think it is beginning to affect her no.2's but am not sure what else to do as I don't want to give fruit juice even if diluted.

Sallyallyally · 02/09/2007 21:13

Hello. Henry drinks water best from a plastic cup...no lid...pretty messy but seems to love it. He has got a cup with a spout which he also likes, but purely for chewing purposes I think! Worth a try?

babydriver · 02/09/2007 22:13

Hi, thanks also to peachy for the london meet up. (Don't know what happened to my previous post.)

Not getting much water down DS2 either, but hoping he'll get the hang of it. We're using the plain tommy tippee cups with a simple spout which worked OK for DS1 so fingers crossed. Upping food during the day - now onto 3 meals and hoping that the 4.30am feed will drop itself - will be moving it along next weekend if it doesn't! By the way, Kelloggs or Sainsbury's Raisin Wheats are great for finger feeders. Nowt in them except wholewheat, raisins and a bit of glycerin and DS2 hoovers them up once they've been softened in a little milk.

Have a good week all!

DontCallMeYummy · 04/09/2007 12:31

Yes big thanks to Peachy for organising the South Bank meetup, we had a vague idea to coincide the next one with the Earls Court Babyshow which I've just found out is Oct 19-21. Also I have an email with discounted tickets (£23 for 2) which I can forward to any interested parties.
Am I the only one still to make the leap from Mummy Milk to Real Food? We're so disorganised, though I did buy a box of baby rice from Fresh and Wildly Expensive the other day. I was starting to panic until I read that some babies go upto 7, 8 or even 12(?!?) months just being breastfed, so feel like I don't have to puree the entire contents of my fridge this afternoon. It just seems like such a big step - from the superease of breastfeeding to the shopping, cooking, pureeing (or not - another big decision), feeding, subsequent clean-up campaign... maybe it's because I'm on my own and my Mum is too far away to show me how she did it. Luckily DCMMY is huge and happy (despite the emerging teeth, another reason to introduce solids sharpish) so I don't feel like he's being harmed in any way by the lack of carrot in his belly - though he does like them as teething sticks. But we need to make the step, just have to decide To Mush or Not to Mush...

yelnats · 04/09/2007 21:35

Hi good to see every1 is good. I started back at work on Monday, I was really worried about it and went off to work with my breastpump in hand - just incase. Fortunately I didnt need to express and managed quite comfortably all day without feeding (6.30am til 8pm without feeding), and have managed to feed more or less normal today as I only work half day on a Tuesday so only missed one feed. DD2 has happily taken a bottle from my mum which she was previously refusing from me! Typical - had me worried about nothing!

MoosMa · 04/09/2007 22:18

Had our first go at swimming today and it was a roaring (or should I say giggling) success! DD1 got a swimming costume for her birthday yesterday so I figured it was a good time to start and they both loved it, taking to it likes ducks to water and having a whale of a time (sorry ).

peachygirl · 04/09/2007 22:19

Hi all Glad your day at work was OK regarding your feeding Yelnats. I will have that tomorrow as It's my first day back after the hols. I'm going to be cutting back on my Bfing an slowly moving onto formula with the move back to work. DD has woken twice in the night the last two night and I do feel my supply is dwindling.
I thought I'd take my pump too just in case and a little stock of breast pads.
I haven't put the photo up yet london girls but try to do it ASAP.
I would be up for the baby show. I was a bit worried it clashed with and NCT thing I'm helping with but it doesn't.
DCMY have a look on the weanng threads if you get a chance and look out for a link to Aitchs BLW blog you don't have to puree!
Good for you too marmite for having a great night out ... even if you did suffer the next day.
Good idea about the raisin wheats I think me and my NCT mate are going to split a box to see if our babies like them.

suis · 05/09/2007 01:30

Hello all,

Glad to see everyone meeting up.. although of course the Scottish mini-meet got there first... and I have to publicly thank suzi2 for standing me my lunch, seeing as I turned up without my purse (doh!) (FYI suzi2, I did manage to get out the multi-storey car park, the nice men in the office gave me a form to fill out and I had to promise to send the £3.20 in by cheque !)

We're charging on with weaning too... good grief it's messy. I am throughly hacked off with cleaning the bleeding high chair over and over again, not to mention the floor, the walls, my hair, everything DS and I are wearing etc etc... DCMY - we are doing a mix of purees and BLW. As DS is such a big lad (22lbs already ) and he had started waking in the night again, I felt that the BLW alone wasn't actually getting enough food in there, so I give him mushy stuff as well. He usually grabs the spoon and shovels stuff in himself, and I try to give mush that would usually be that way, eg, apple sauce is ok, as is lentil bake, or mashed potato, but lasagne is not.

DS also seems to be going to be one of those babies that doesn't really want to be bothered with crawling. He stands up all the time, and wails if he's put on his front. I am told that this is not the best developmentally, but I am trying not to let it bother me. He has finally discovered the joy of rolling, but only in order to get off his front.

Sallyallyally · 05/09/2007 12:47

Suis...who told you this wasn't best dvelopmentally? DD1 never crawled, she sort of skirmished a bit then stood up on furniture and walked round until she could walk unaided. She is fine, strong, bright and athletic! I ask you, doesn't there always seem to be someone out there ready to put the frighteners on everything! We unintentionally broke all the rules with DD1 and she refused to read the baby books and conform and the health visitor, GP, nurse , various rellies and complete strangers predicted floods, fire and plagues of locusts. Never happened!

forgottenfreetime · 05/09/2007 19:58

Hi (FFT tears hair out at rubbish orange bband email and goes off to email Bienchen ......again)

forgottenfreetime · 05/09/2007 20:08

Ok Back again, Weaning going ok with a mixture of finger foods and mush. Lazy meal is a banana and less lazy is frozen sweet potato and carrott mash and really good mother meal is broccoli strips with steamed apple slices and chicken strips! DD is sitting ... just for a few seconds though, still needs a bit of support. But seems to be too big for all her new six to 12 month clothes, yes bewilderingly her 6-9 month clothes fit ok but 6-12 month coat from Rackhams and bodysuit from Gap (both gifts, FFT is stingy) are decidedly snug Will be dead annoyed if she doesn't get the wear out of the coat and I have to buy another! DH job has gone ballistic since its a new tennis year (like the school year) and I've been 'secretarying' for him. I am having to face up to going back to work got a date for Oct 8th. I know it'll be fine once I get there but I feel a bit sad at the thought of my maternity leave coming to an end - feels so like my baby is growing up already. Although of course I know that there are lots of exciting times ahead as well. DS seems to have finally settled down and I now feel able to pop upstairs quickly with them in the same room. Is much better now I'm not having to watch him like a hawk. Still not sleeping through but I am really hopeful and am trying to get her bedroom organised so if necessary we can do a bit of progressive waiting (friends nice name for CC)! Hope you are all well and that the teachers aren't having too hard a first wek back!

peachygirl · 05/09/2007 20:58

Hi today was OK, it was a bit strange to see dd at the gate when the CM came to collect her litle boy. We had a cuddle and then I wnet back in for some more work - if I don't stay one night it wil never get done!
DD is also waking more 1-2ish and then 4 ish which is a bit hard she came into our bed at 4 and went back to sleep. Please tell me I'm not making a rod for my own back by doing this ... she is still very young.

Hopefully the picture will be up in a mo. from LtoR DCMY, Peachygirl and Marmitemad
