Omg I'm so sorry for the essay haha. Nice for a read to send you to sleep though!

Cardboard33 · 20/11/2019 13:48

Ahhh that made me laugh SO SO much!! George seems like he's a real crawler now?! Mine is still at the frustrated stage of not being mobile in terms of crawling, but ironically if you stand him up then he's almost walking. He's walking along the side of the sofa with just one arm for support.... usually trying to grab a phone/other tech gadget. When he is properly on the move we are going to put up a travel cot and stick him in there when need to... how big is yours? it is something that you can quickly put up and down as it's needed? We've also got a Fisher Price jumperoo that I can shove him in, or the high chair in the kitchen with toys... are any of those an option?

You've also made me realise I need to buy a baby friendly fork... he's been eating pasta for about a month now from a spoon. You're right in that if it was on a fork then he could feed himself. I'm so stupid!

I've got no idea if 40oz per day is a lot or not tbh. Mine used to have 7oz before bed but he now only has 6oz because he was leaving too much, but he's also having 3 meals (plus snacks like a bit of banana etc) a day. We feed at 7am ish, 11am (5oz bottle of breast milk), 4pm ish, 7pm (6oz formula) and then once or twice in the night. Plus 3 meals and fruit snacks. Is your weighing done by HVs or is it a self weighing clinic? As if it is then you could get a slot and ask them about when/if to drop the ounces.

Might be worth going to the GP, particularly given it's come on since he had diarrhoea? When we went initially the rash was just everywhere but it wasn't itching him and they said it was clearly an allergic reaction but they didn't know what to, and then we went a week later as it had got worse and he was itching loads then they said it was eczema which is caused by an intolerance to something. The only thing we've changed is that he was having more formula than previously as I need to stop breastfeeding and we'd also started giving him dairy heavy food like yogurt.... but we will see. We've been given a steroid cream for the itching and then a moisturiser for the eczema - worth getting it on prescription if you can as then it's free. The moisturiser is also apparently a really good hand cream, hehe.

Not been getting any notifications on my emails to say of new messages and just came on to say we've all been quiet . Altho you haven't it's just I've missed all the messages

@melissa112 where abouts are you located? I am trying to get tickets for the dunham massey Christmas thing . They all sold put except 7.30pm and 8pm tickets which I think may be too late for my LO.

Also I put rose in jumperoo or high chair if I need to cook etc to keep her entertained without having to hawk eye her all th3 time and when I am cleaning upstairs I put her in her cot with some toys whilst I tidy up . She isn't very active . She can get from one side of the room to the other but not climbing up on things yet

Still struggling with the constipation . Went back to the Drs yesterday. Saw a different Dr and he just brushed me off . Said Its normal and not to worry unless she's vomiting poo . He did tell me to up the lactulose but I had already done that with no improvement . I have gave her every food in the book that is supposed to help and every drink and increase water etc. When she is trying to poo I have to strip her lay her down and put her legs up to her chest kind of thing . Otherwise it just goes back inside and she can't push it out. Sorry for tmi!! I will just carry on this and hope it improves .

Still not sorted a nursery . Only need 1 day a week 7-3.30 but no where has availability or they won't take her one day a week. My mum did say she will have her but I did want her to go nursery 1 day a week but least I know I have something to fall back on till I find somewhere.

Also I am going to my sisters for Christmas dinner . I usually spend it with my family every year and this year me and my partner was going to have it just us but I couldn't bare the thought of cooking a whole Christmas dinner just for us so he is happy to go to my sisters. Yay.

I offer rose 3 meals a day . Sometimes 2 depending on nap times etc. She has been eating quite well

Question for those still breast feeding. How many feeds are you doing now solids are introduced ?? I do about 4 feeds in the day and 2 in the night .

Cardboard33 · 20/11/2019 15:42

@jenlou1992 I had the same happen last week, it's annoying isn't it?? I put our feeding schedule as it were above - I breast feed at 7, 4 and once or twice in the night. Then he has a bottle each of expressed and formula per day. Plus water at meals. Sounds very similar to what you're doing!

Jenlou1992 · 20/11/2019 16:54

@cardboard33 yeah really annoying ..if you don't mind me asking how long does your LO feed for? Rose is like 5-10 mins and she's done

Cardboard33 · 20/11/2019 20:42

@jenlou1992 often it's now a max of 5-10 mins during the day unless there are zero distractions (I have the TV on low with subtitles now as he even gets too distracted by the noise/movements) but I feel he makes up for it at night as they're about 20 mins, sometimes up to 30 mins. What are Rose's night feeds like?

Jenlou1992 · 21/11/2019 09:36

Yeah rose is exactly the same . She feeds for about 15 minutes each at the night time . My supply is better at night as well.

She also gets distracted very easily which is sometimes a night mare. Especially if we are out.

Brobot · 22/11/2019 23:06

@Jenlou1992 I couldn't have written that about the constipation. Exact same over here. He can rarely pass anything without me helping him the same way you, do pushing his legs up. I'm constantly giving prunes, pears, water, lactulose etc. Zero results. He doesn't seem massively uncomfortable but surely with the amount he takes in there must be a lot hiding in there!

Elliot had his first cold last week. Dear god! What a nightmare. There was one night it felt like he literally cried non stop. It was awful and sounded so miserable with him not able to breathe properly. Luckily it is passing now, which I believe may be the result of my magical boobs lol. Considering the little girl who he caught it off has been super miserable for 2 weeks now. Also, my husband has caught it but I haven't lol, I must be invincible. (Cue fate being tempted)

WhatALearningCurve · 24/11/2019 18:44

Has anyone started to put their little ones in long sleeved vests? Or if not - parents of older ones - can someone please tell me if there is a trick to making the sleeve stay down whilst you put their top on or their sleepsuit?!

Brobot · 24/11/2019 21:11

@WhatALearningCurve 🤣🤣yes we have Elliot in long sleeve vests as our house is freezing. I discovered how tricky it was with the sleeves also, so I tend to hold the vest sleeve while putting on the baby grow, and then if it gets away from me due to wriggling I reach back up and pull it down. Not exactly a pearl of wisdom put it's all I've got lol

WhatALearningCurve · 24/11/2019 21:32

@Brobot that's what I'm currently doing but I was hoping someone would have some incredible magical fix haha. Definitely just wishful thinking! He's so quick to crawl off now that I try and get everything done in hyper speed!

Cardboard33 · 29/11/2019 09:27

How's everyone doing?

@WhatALearningCurve we've always used long sleeve vests as t-shirts/tops and have also worn them at night under the sleep suit. I don't recall wondering how to do it but maybe mine just wears them with the sleeves all rolled up!

Sheeni · 29/11/2019 10:24

@Cardboard33 I'll start off... All okay here. Ish. Mostly.

My LO sometimes drops the nighttime feed and sometimes he doesn't. Which isn't the end of the world, but as I don't really know what to expect every night, I'm just a bit anxious about it. I'm still so happy about where we are now compared to 2 months ago. I wouldn't think then that I would have a child who actually sleeps through, even if not consistently. Only negative result is lack of social life, as all groups and classes take place at exactly the same time as he's napping, which is annoying.

He's trying to crawl properly instead of commando, with mixed results and a lot of frustration. Still doesn't really sit that much or well, he just doesn't want to.

Recently started clapping, in a posh way, where one hand taps the top of the other Grin he's very proud of himself every time ❤️

Weaning is...meh. I'm quite over making that many meals every day. Especially if he then just throws it all on the floor.

Question for those who have crawlers: Do you just leave them to crawl around and explore or do you leave them in the playpen? How is that working out for you? My LO hates to be left in the playpen, so if I need to do anything, it's with the soundtrack of screeching child or in 30s bursts, as that's how long it takes him to get into mischief, if I leave the playpen open.

How's everyone else? Sorry for the essay, as I said, I have no social life at the mo.

Brobot · 29/11/2019 13:16

Elliot will be 9 months on Monday and we are at the height of separation anxiety! Which has resulted in him going back to needing to latch to go to sleep when I had managed to get him to sleep just lying next to me with the dummy in. I'm hoping it passes soon. He still isn't crawling but rolls when he wants to lol. I think the cold he had a couple of weeks ago set him back a bit because I was bf him as much as possible to get fluids into him and he's got used to it again 😕

WhatALearningCurve · 29/11/2019 18:11

@Sheeni I haven't even started making meals yet. I can't face it. He's still on pouches over here.

In genres or crawling - if I'm downstairs I let him crawl about as he wishes. Most of the time he likes being in the kitchen because I think he likes how the floor sounds under him. Upstairs I have to put him in a playpen because there's a step out of my bedroom and the stairs are terrifyingly steep. In the spirit of honesty - if I need him to stay upstairs and be happy for - 10 mins or however long whilst I shower or clean the bedrooms - I put Peppa on my tv to keep him entertained

melissa112 · 02/12/2019 10:22

@Cardboard33 how are you doing with the allergy/intolerance stuff? Is his rash any better now? I spoke to the GP about Georges and she said to try moisturiser for a week and then if not better she will prescribe something as shes not sure if it's a type of eczema or a fungal type thing. Doesnt seem to itch him though. Your little one sounds like he might be an early walker! Hes doing so well!

@Jenlou1992 sorry I've only just seen all the posts. I'm close to Warrington, well about 10 miles out. We booked the Dunham massey thing in September I think as I heard they sold out fast. Did you manage to get any tickets?

I didnt get any notifications about any replies or updates so havent checked and was coming on to see how everyone was.

George crawling is no longer my main problem in terms of trying to keep him safe. Now he just has to pull himself up to standing against everything he can, and because he crawls so fast, if I turn my back for a second even to plug my charger in or something he has pulled himself up and seems to have no fear. He has had two falls this week as even though I sit by him by him every time he stands up, he at some point over reaches or tries to step too far and over he goes. He hates the play pen and has a poo if I put him in there.

But to be fair like @Brobot we seem to have hit a massive separation anxiety period so that could be part of it. He poos if I leave him in there but if I don't then he will hurt himself climbing up something. He isn't happy unless he is standing and causing mischief. I can't even sit on the sofa anymore as what's the point? I have to be following him round constantly to stop him getting into trouble so I just sit on the floor now haha.

We put the Christmas tree up yesterday and thankfully (although I sound mean saying this) it spikes him and so he doesn't go near it! I'm exhausted! He's got a bad cold, can't breathe through his nose, I've got the cold too and feel horrid. DP had a sickness bug and now George has about 8 poos a day so has picked up the bug from his daddy. And he has a tooth coming through. On top of separation anxiety and him crying when I don't let him do what he wants, he's whining a lot more than he used to.

He hates getting dressed and having his bum changed mainly because he gets so mad at me when I stop him from escaping. He is a very determined little boy and I have to bribe him by giving him things to hold that he is technically not allowed just to keep him still. That all being said, most of the time hes still his smiling, happy self and although I'm exhausted I'm also loving watching him learn all this new stuff and seeing his little personality.

@WhatALearningCurve I use long sleeved vests too and just put my hand down the sleeve and pull it through afterwards. I know what it's like to put a coat on and have your sleeve halfway up your arm haha

@Sheeni that's great that your LO is starting to sleep through, you must be so pleased! The posh clapping sounds adorable! I feel the same about weaning. He does eat more now but some meals he touches nothing other than to drop it onto the floor and it's a bit... I dunno! Tiring?

We're off out to see the ducks at the park. Hoping the fresh air clears his sinuses a bit, he'll be all bundled up and warm at least.

Jenlou1992 · 02/12/2019 14:43

Hey my LO has a cold again . Getting sick of it . We have hardly been out in the cold and she is always wrapped up .

She won't eat any solids and it's stressing me out . I'm worried she's not getting any calories . She has had tiny bit of porridge today and yesterday and nothing else she just refuses to eat . Anyone else experience this? I don't know if it's because she has a cold as she never did it previously when she had a cold . I'm making all this food and she won't touch any of it. Tried soup as well incase it was the texture with her being bunged up but she just won't eat it . Still taking milk feeds off me . But don't think it's enough

WhatALearningCurve · 02/12/2019 14:56

@Jenlou1992 a health visitor told me last week "when baby is well you take steps forward with food and routine and when baby is sick you take steps backwards". Is she having more milk feeds now?

melissa112 · 02/12/2019 16:07

@Jenlou1992 George has his first proper cold now and has really gone off solids. Hardly touching anything. I think as long as they are still having milk they should be fine. Xx

Jenlou1992 · 02/12/2019 16:14

@WhatALearningCurve she isn't really having more but maybe feeding a bit longer each feed . I'm sure if she was hungry she would eat? Don't want to starve her

Melissa 112 can't tag u for some reason. Hope she picks up soon . She not been like this before . X

Cardboard33 · 02/12/2019 19:38

@Sheeni totally get the whole not knowing when theyre going to wake up thing, as we had a period where he slept until 3/4am and Id wake up leaking so would have to then decide whether to pump or feed him. That said mine has barely gone an hour without waking atm so I dont have that problem. Love the posh clapping - mine doesnt clap but he winds his bobbin up for everything... I think its as when he first started doing it I was like well done!! so now he thinks doing it will solve all of his problems like bringing him toys that he cant reach because he still isnt crawling!!

Think we are also going through seperation anxiety which really is not fun when hes ill at the same time. We are on holiday and ended up in a&e with him... they sent him home again but hes literally screaming pretty much 24/7 due to a mixture of pain and tiredness. All he wants to do is be on me or feed on me so Im feeling bad in the sense that I have spent all of this time reducing my supply gradually and making sure he doesnt use me as a comfort aid and now thats literally all he wants to do, and in one month from now that wont be possible and he wont understand why. Its making me really emotional just thinking about it but I know thats the sleep deprivation kicking in.

Ill update more later....

Sheeni · 03/12/2019 00:28

Oh @cardboard33, that was a real rollercoaster of a post! First you make me smile about the bobbin-winding (how cute! Also, I know you think you want him to start crawling, but enjoy the non-crawling stage while you can!). I like to think A claps when he's happy, like when he's eating and manages to put a small piece of pear in his mouth, he gives himself a round of applause. But he might as well mean "chop chop, get this off my tray, I'm done!" Who knows? Grin
But then you mention the poorly bub and how you won't be able to feed him soon and I'm almost in tears. Guess I'm sleep deprived, too? It's a crap place to be, but I'm sure he'll appreciate the non-feeding cuddles as well. And he might drop lots of feeds soon anyway, once he's not poorly... Hope your little one gets well soon, thinking of you!Flowers

BadBadBeans · 03/12/2019 20:02

Sorry I've dropped off this and haven't even been reading to keep up! Just had a quick skim and HAD to post to say @melissa112 that it cracks me up that George does a dirty protest when placed in his play pen 😂😂😂

Will go and read properly now and reply soon xx

Jenlou1992 · 09/12/2019 04:12

How is everyone ..

On the poop front Rose is now passing stools by herself . They have completely changed and are not hard poos anymore . Still formed but not solid. Happy for her now that she doesn't struggle .

Seemed to be going backwards with the sleep . She is waking loads in the night and I can't seem to get her back to sleep . She just cries or when I do get her to sleep she wakes within 40 minutes again . Feeling stressed more so as I go back to work in January and go on nights . Still feeding her 2x and need to swap over to formula at night which I haven't even started . She's currently awake . Has been since half 3. No signs of teething so not sure what's happening

Brobot · 09/12/2019 15:10

Damn it! I never get emails to let me know there have been posts on here so I miss all your updates! @Cardboard33 same situation over here. He now DEMANDS to latch on to me to go to sleep and is soooo clingy. I get nothing done whatsoever. Also not crawling which was worrying me until I gave myself a slap and reminded myself that 1. they all go at their own pace and 2. it will be a nightmare when he does start crawling 😂. I have asked my work if I can cut down to 3 days when I return and I have a strong feeling they are going to make it very difficult for me, if not flat out refuse.
