Oh poor Jordi having an ulcer so young!! I spent my childhood and teens riddled with mouth ulcers - apparently they are caused by iron deficiency [clueless emoticon]

Evenhope Monti loves Ella's kitchen too!

I made him a very worthy supper tonight of organic steamed broccoli/carrots/mashed potatoes - which he completely rejected in favour of a pot of fromage frais. Which just goes to prove that the more effort you put into preparing your children's food, the less likely they are to eat it!

Piffle · 24/09/2007 19:53

ellas house are good for finn otherwise he just gets what's on the stove
tonight it was lentil curry

morocco · 24/09/2007 20:04

poor jordi, mouth ulcers suck. has the gp checked it out? one time ds2 had 'hand foot and mouth' disease (sounds like something sheep get but is very common normal non scary at all virus but causes all these little spots and mouth ulcers), another time ds1 had impetigo but it started as mouth ulcers, most bizarre. anyhow, either way totally not serious or freaky but i just mention it cos it turned out in both cases not to be mouth ulcers at all.
happy birthday eidsvold, sounded a lovely day
emily has 1 tooth - just noticed yesterday - its just starting to appear. she's still rocking on hands and knees and going nowhere fast but that is good! she eats whatever I throw in front of her, very sadly often the other children's leftovers, she is the pet of the family.
i can't do the chav test, it keeps crashing

Piffle · 24/09/2007 20:12

sorry he just woke so had to cut that short so lentil cury not that filling then

Failed to notice Leo's popped in

oh gawd am soooooooooooooooooooooo tired!

kittywits · 24/09/2007 20:18

Ha ha @ pet of the family, dd2 eats scraps off the floor!!! Who needs a dog

OP posts:
spongecake · 24/09/2007 22:05

did chav test - am called candice-candi.. sound v dodgy.

v interesting re feeding- my boy was doing ok, finger food and feeding himself, but has decided he prefers bm and maybe a bit of fromage frais. am too tired to be worried about this. i got him a new heater for his room, and he is sleepig a bit better.

where is diva? still find facebook a bit difficult somehow. think its my age

Rosylily · 24/09/2007 22:51

The blonde thanks I'll look out for Aitch's blog. and look up blw.

Foxy, I hadn't heard the iron deficiency thing, but it makes total sense, I've always been prone to low iron and when I was a teenager I had loads of mouth ulcers and cold sores all at once and my godfather who worked as a nurse in the vd clinic asked me if I had them anywhere else and I was very innocent and therefore totally scundered
(Do you say scundered over there?)

Diva is off mumsnet for a bit...not sure whether to nag her on facebook to come back or refrain....

Nappyaddict sorry can't help with annaspannas email address.

kittywits · 24/09/2007 22:51

Hi candice, my name's jade -Kaylah, how chavy are you then?

OP posts:
eidsvold · 24/09/2007 22:57

evenhope may take you upon that - have been going like mad with the free 14 day membeship on ancestry.co.uk BUT after that - it looks like being big bucks to use and get any further - well when you convert to Aus dollars.

foxcub · 25/09/2007 10:27

Hi everyone

I took DD to nursery this morning only to be told she's not supposed to be in on Tuesdays.

I Knew that!!!

I just didn't realise it was Tuesday today

eidsvold · 25/09/2007 10:30

oh foxy

evenhope · 25/09/2007 11:12

Eids happy to help. Even researching someone else's tree is good fun

Foxy- sounds like the sort of thing I'd do too!

I'm 28% chav- Donatella-Jayne-Keely if you please

Isn't it odd that so many of the babes have colds yet we are all far flung across the UK? Must be the weather.

TheBlonde · 25/09/2007 15:09

Rosylily · 25/09/2007 20:20

foxcub · 26/09/2007 17:02

Thanks TheBlonde for that link...

Where is everyone today then?

Mossy · 26/09/2007 18:33

Hello all,

Just popping in to say hello while Bertie watches In the Night Garden... yes, that's right, ladies I'm using the telly as a babysitter [bad mum emoticon].

I'm actually looking after two children for the next two weeks at least... well not really, but dh has been signed off work again so I might as well be.

It is two-fold... his sight is starting to go blurry in his right eye and his left eye is a lazy eye so we are really concerned. We're not sure if it's coincidence, his right eye is the one he got hit with a squash ball about six weeks ago.

But also, he has finally admitted he is suffering depression again, he is having the suicidal thoughts again - I knew he was depressed but he never admitted it (in fact you may recall he wanted me to go on the Prozac)... until now, I think the eye thing has brought it to a head.

The doctor wanted to sign him off work while the ADs took effect as she was concerned about him, but we managed to talk her into signing him off work "for his eye" as if his boss knows he has depression ... well it will not look good on his record, you'd think public sector would be a bit more progressive but no...

So now I have a mardy dh who can barely see, and Bertie to deal with...

Which one do you think is easiest?

Stressing about his eye, and the depression, last time he was depressed it was a downward spiral ending up with him slitting his wrists, really don't want to go down that road again, and as for his eye, he is the only one out of us atm who can drive, and now he can't and if his eye doesn't get better...

Sorry just chunnering, I'm a bit arrrgh! at the moment.

Foxy pmsl at you not realising it was a Tuesday!

Rosy what does scundered mean then?

Leo it is nice to hear from you again!

Eids I'm glad you had a nice birthday!!

Piffle have I missed your birthday then? I didn't see it on Facebook! And Kitty when is yours?

Right off to put the washing on etc. Dh's bezzie mate has come over to take him out for a drive so I am on my bill for a bit, will put Bertie to bed after Night Garden and try and get my head together!!

TheBlonde · 26/09/2007 19:13

Hi Fox - I am still lurking around. Feel like I am getting RSI from excessive mouse usage despite reducing my web time

Eids - Happy belated birthday

Mossy - Sorry to hear about your DH. Hopefully the doc and the ADs will be able to help

evenhope · 26/09/2007 21:26

We have a tooth It has only just cut through the gum but it is there and sharp. She's also moving quite speedily round the room through a combination of rolling, sliding and getting up on all 4s (though not actually crawling). Soon have to get more stairgates.

eidsvold · 27/09/2007 00:12

saw my new nephew yesterday - all broody he has that lovely newborn smell even though he is four weeks old. Can't get over how tiny he is.

The girls had a fab day - long drive 2 1/2 hours to get there and stayed a few hours and then back again. THey live in the BUSH!! girls were tearing around the property getting up to all sorts of fun - totally grubby.

Cross with myself though - managed to do all that driving and think I got caught by a speed camera about 2 minutes from home - was keeping up with traffic and just wanting to get home - getting tired and I did not see the camera van! ( ours are mobile and usually in a big 4x4 BUT the buggers have got a new van that I did not recognise until I was at it GRRRRRRRRR!!!)

rainy today so an easy day at home trying to catch up with housework etc.

THe dds are enjoying their school holidays.

Am off to make some playdough for them later.

Mossy sorry to hear about your rough time. Hope you got a break.

No worry about tv - my 2 are out watching tv as I type this. Sometimes you just need a break.

Rosylily · 27/09/2007 10:09

Mossy that sounds a bit difficult, though sounds like you are coping well with it all.
People are always scundered over here...it means totally embarrassed.

Evenhope tooth congratulations!

Eidsvold going into the bush sounds like quite an adventure!

I'm wrecked today...just too tired and headachey.
I'm more relaxed about the weaning thing, I just put him in his seat, put stuff on his tray and he crams them in his ears, down his clothes, down his seat and occasionally in his mouth!

On the plus side to all the breast feeding, I'm now losing weight...I think my body was holding it for this very time and using up the reserves now. (yeeha)

muppethasakitten · 27/09/2007 11:32

quickly popping in to say hi and sending hugs to all of you.... especially mossy, piffle, foxy and sazzy.

we had a great time at the wedding in Italy but feels a bit wrong to talk about it with everyone having such horrendous things going on... so will save it for another time.

Love to everyone

LunarSea · 27/09/2007 11:49

Hope things get better for you soon Mossy.

Well am back at work this week. Not really enjoying it, but at least Toby seems to be very happy at nursery - apparently yesterday he was trying to help(?) feed one of the other babies (who is actually older than he is) who is still sitting in a bouncy chair! Back to 3 days a week and no daily commute (traffic has been horrendous every morning) newxt week, so hopefully will be a bit happier about it then.

I'm amazed at myself - bought ds1's Christmas present yesterday. I'm never that organised!

foxcub · 27/09/2007 16:33

Lunar - are you managing to sleep at night? I'm back at work next week and worried as Monti wakes me 4-5 times a night for a nibble. I bet your employers are glad you are back - they seem to rely on you

Muppet - please do tell us about your visit to Italy - I lurve Italy and am having to enjoy holidays by proxy atm, so any details would be welcome

LunarSea · 27/09/2007 17:44

foxcub - Toby's actually been sleeping better than usual. I think he's being so busy exploring during the day at nursery that he's exhausted at night!

I seem to have spent most of this week discovering that things have been let slip/procedures not followed while I've been away, so I need to spend time getting it all shipshape again before it starts causing problems in the longer term. Fortunately the clients didn't actually know I was back until today, so haven't been hassled too much so far. I've got provisional agreement to be officially home based though, so have been filling in the forms to make that official.

kiwibella · 27/09/2007 19:59

Lunar... it was similar for me when I returned to work and was expected to catch up on things that had not been done since I left. I don't know why I expected it to be different but, when you are dealing with kids, you don't let things slide.

I'm glad that Toby is exhausted after nursery. Kate began waking during the night the evening that I went back to work!! It concerns me that she doesn't sleep at nursery - only one or two naps of max half an hour and that's from 8 to 4. She also doesn't drink much formula - usually five or six ounces over a day but she eats most of her meals.

Hope things go well for you, Foxy, when you return to work.

Sending lots of hugs to you and your dh Mossy... I'm glad that he has been signed off work and hope that he will seek help for his depression.

Hi to everyone and hope you are enjoying bubbling bouncing babies.
