Rosylily · 06/09/2007 13:34

Hadn't heard about Pavarotti. That's sad

sazzybee · 06/09/2007 13:47

Well we had a better night last night although I ended up taking Elliot into my bed and doing that lying down feeding thing you all do. Blimey - I thought my nipple might fall off

Sorry you're having a grim time muppet - hope Samuel gets well soon. Have you tried putting a couple of drops of olbas oil on a muslin in the cot? That seemed to ease Elliot's snuffles but that was when he was much younger. Sleeplessness is grim though isn't it? I bumped into a friend of my sister's who is pg with her first the other day - she thought the insomnia she is having in her 3rd trimester is going to help with sleep deprivation with her newborn. Hahaha. Only it's not funny.

I am going to try and make the brighton expedition only it'll mean changing the days at E's 2nd week at nursery - will see what they say. I have to start taking him in week after next for his settling in sessions. Not sure what I'll do with myself - pace up and down outside probably.

Nice to see you the other day dolly. Sorry we didn't hang around in the playground - we had to get my nephew home after his first exciting day in his new school.

shanks - that mw sounds a bit silly. A bit like the A&E doctor who listened with a doppler when I had a huge bleed at 15 weeks and told me he couldn't hear anything. And then confessed he'd never used one before .

Congrats pinkranger

fox - I gave elliot a mixture of sweet potato, houmous and broccoli yesterday which went down very well. I'm trying to avoid the sweet stuff as I gave him some baby porridge and didn't bother reading the pack and it was stuffed with sugar. And then he wouldn't eat any more broccoli. He likes cucumber but doesn't actually eat it, just gums at it

Hello to the rest of you

divastrop · 06/09/2007 14:31

i think MN should compile a book of 'stuipd quotes from medical professionals'.there must be 100's on this site.i remember that mw who was taking my bp etc when i got taken in to hospital at 36 weeks with Elsie saying '5 pregnancies and no MC's?thats very unusual, maybe youve had a couple of early ones at about 5 or 6 weeks and not realised,eh?'.i said it was unlikely seeing as i'd known i was pregnant with the last 3 before my period was even due,and got bfp's on the day my period was due!

mossy-that woman sounds like a nightmare.i know a few like that, they are very insecure really, you know

LunarSea · 06/09/2007 17:01

Mossy - I bet she didn't really have no problems, she just didn't want to admit to it.

foxcub - Toby likes crusty bread, croissants, slices of apple, pear or cucumber, couscous (not quite no cook, but almost), roasted new potatoes and chips. Am also trying him on some french baby food jars of stuff you don't see here like artichoke!

foxcub · 06/09/2007 17:39

Wow you lot are more adventurous than me! No wonder Monti is complaining about the chef!!

Do your babies chew on things then? Or just "gum"?

Anyone tried mashed potatoe yet? Can we give them mash made with water and butter - I am so crap at weaning, I just love it when they get to 1 and you can give them proper food and a nice cuppa tea (not really LOL!)

Rosylily · 06/09/2007 20:45

Hasan is having boobie milk, boobie milk and boobie milk, I am making one gallon a day, every time I try him with food he doesn't want to know but if he gets his hand on some paper he crams it into his mouth

divastrop · 06/09/2007 20:56

foxy-doesnt mashed potato count as cooking?it does to me,unless it comes out of a packet.isnt BLW about just giving them the same food as you and letting them shovel it in any which way?

sazzybee · 06/09/2007 21:22

Well Elliot doesn't have any teeth so I suppose he just chomps. We're doing sort of midway blw - he can't pick things up from the tray because they're too slippery so I hand them to him. He is very good at feeding himself with a spoon. Thank f* he's good at something

Piffle · 06/09/2007 21:46

Finn is still a boob hound, even while embracing new foods.
He loves Shreddies and Rice Krispies (all stolen fron dd) and he has managed to quaff a bit of my dorset cereals muesli as well.
He loves to suck cucumber and carrot, did not like beetroot but loves fresh peach striaght from la source and appears to "chew" and eat it as I do.
He also plucked a pea but it went in and out before staying in.

I prob should worry about salt and stuff?
3rd child syndrome
He had a shite night last night, this goddamn rolling

Piffle · 06/09/2007 21:47

ps
what order do teeth come through again?
Finn def has 3 bottom ones coming through loud n clear but not a sign of any top ones?

sazzybee · 06/09/2007 22:08

piffle - according to 'what to expect in the first year' it's normally bottom two then top two then the two on either side top or bottom. But it does say that some babies get their top teeth first. Finn is obviously an individual

evenhope · 06/09/2007 22:21

We tried a small piece of banana today but it wasn't successful and involved much gagging! She did find the licorice stick I left in the car (piece of wood type) and was chewing on that- had bits of wood all round her face

Yesterday we tried baby rice but she didn't like that. So far she likes Organix apple and the apple and pear. Cucumber slices are nice to gum too.

divastrop · 06/09/2007 22:33

Elsies gums are all red and swollen where the two bottom teeth are cutting(one is just coming through the gum,the other is just about to).

i need to get her a highchair!

piffle-my first 3 dc's teeth came through in textbook order(2 bottom,2 top etc)but dd2's have been pretty random, she got the 4 bottom ones first.

sponge-care to moan with me?

foxcub · 07/09/2007 14:11

Mine all had their bottom teeth first too

Monti has only had a BF at 7.30am and 1.30pm today - refused the other attempts. I think he is trying to get all his BF in at night (by waking me hourly) in the hope he will get yummy food during the day.

Am just about to give him his favourite: Plum's mango/banana - delicious

He has a really sweet tooth and refuses savoury - so might try mashed potatoe over the wekend. Diva - yes it is cooking isn't it?

LunarSea · 07/09/2007 14:44

Trust Toby to do it the unconventional way - two of the back bottom teeth first here! At least this way round he can still feed without any danger that I get bitten.

muppethasakitten · 07/09/2007 14:54

Thanks for all your sympathy/advice/tips re my nocturnal baby!

Trying to stay sane!

I know this won't last long... I'm in no rush to stop b'feeding or anything ... just would quite like a few more gaps in between doing it all night!

Foxy... Monti sounds similar... Samuel loves his food and doesn't feed from me anywhere near as much during the day...

... by night he is the milk vampire...

foxcub · 07/09/2007 16:50

Clever little so and so's !! They want the best of both worlds

divastrop · 07/09/2007 22:20

Elsie has only had the morning feed then a feed about 1.30pm as well the last 3 days.she has started asking for food now.i gave her a bit of carrot earlier and she sat the sucking on it for ages.

i got a bra!!!i was going to get measured in debenhams but another lady was getting measured and i overheard them, the assistant was using a tape measure then brought the woman bras only from the expensive ranges.so i tried on about 12 different bras and found 2 that fit,one of which was a plunge-type one.when i went to pay for it it had been reduced from £23 to £7!and to think i was getting so desperate i would have been willing to part with £30-£40.

Rosylily · 08/09/2007 07:06

Brilliant a bargain bra! Well done!

I've been up since six, but I've been up loads all night. Hasan is sucking all night too.
Ds2 joined me in bed and wet it with leaky pull-ups, then when Hasan woke up and I lifted him, he was sick in my hair/on my pillow so my bed is a mess like the rest of the house. I'm exhausted and I'm pissed off at having an absentee-on-another-planet husband.....
So I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself but yesterday's news about the M'canns puts my life into a different perspective and I'm counting my blessings.

divastrop · 08/09/2007 10:49

rosy-when is your dh going to be up next?you sound like you need a cuddle.

ds2 peed the bed at some godforsaken hour this morning and i still havent gone up and taken his sheets off.i dont get it-he went 2 weeks with only 2 accidents, since he started school hes wet the bed every night.

i am going to tidy up after lunch and sod off out for the rest of the day so dp can watch(most of) the football in peace.i would like to watch it but i cant be arsed with trying to keep the dc quiet.dp doesnt normally care about noise but for some reason he needs to hear football

off to find out the lastest news on the McCanns now

kittywits · 08/09/2007 11:03

Diva. dd1 started wetting at night again after starting reception last year. I think it's quite normal.Glad you got your bra sorted.
{{{{hugs}}}} to you Rosy. Do you think you need to 'chat' with your dp about how you're feeling?

Last night I had Ronnie back in with me as he has been a little poorly and he went back to feeding 3x in the night .Let's see.... in his own room =dosen't wake, in with me awake all night!!!!!!

Mossy · 08/09/2007 11:03

Diva glad you got a bra! And what a bargain! I want to be really nosey and ask what size it is now! But I won't.

Unless you want to say of course [obsessed with people's boob size emoticon]

Rosy what is the latest news, I haven't heard? Sorry you are feeling down, when is your dh next up?

As for sucky all night babies, last night Bertie woke up at twenty past three, starving (or so it seemed, he was non-stop sucking) and then... wanted to have a play! He was not for going back to sleep AT ALL! So I tried lying him on my chest...

... vom everywhere. Nice!

Mossy · 08/09/2007 11:04

X posts Kitty do you think he smells you out?

divastrop · 08/09/2007 12:25

kitty-i dont remember ds1 starting reception so i dont know if he did it.and dd1..well.ive got a plentiful supply of inco sheets my mum got from work so im not too bothered.

mossy-its a 32F.i have 2 bras in my drawer that size from when i was first pregnant and they were painfully tight when i tried them on last week.i did notice, though, that in some makes a 34E fit me better.

now i just have to find something to hold my tummy in.can you still get whalebone corsets?

kittywits · 08/09/2007 13:14

Mossy, I'm sure it's both the smell AND movement.
