Happy birthday foxy

i know you dont sound too happy though

piffle-do go to the meet up.i was feeling that way before i went to my local meet up,i hadnt socialised in RL since having dd2 so i was throwing myself in at the deep end a bit by getting a lift to somewhere i'd never been, with someone i'd never met,to meet up with even more people i'd never met.but i managed to have a nice time which made me realise i need to start getting out and mixing again.

i have no trouble getting out of the house, but i do have trouble talking to people.

i feel for those of you having to return to work also.i couldnt imagine putting Elsie in nursery.saying that,i went on quite a few courses when ds2 was a baby and put him in creches.he was happy just to sit there smiling at everyone, and was happy for anybody to hold him/feed him.dd2 and Elsie arent used to socialising.(my fault).

anyway,i'll stay here and keep the thread alive while you all scuttle off to facebook.i'll still be here when you get fed up with it

sazzybee · 30/08/2007 21:06

Oh good diva - I'd miss you otherwise

fox - happy birthday although that doesn't sound very likely given your boss is being such an arse What I don't get is that if you're using your holiday, he has to let you take it doesn't he?

I'm not looking forward to going back either but I'm trying not to think about it. Luckily I have September off too before I have to return.

I went to fill out a load of forms at the nursery today - they forgot I was coming and I have to go back on Tuesday. Doesn't bode well for the future

foxcub · 30/08/2007 21:20

Thanks girls.

TBH I do want to work, but only p/t and I can't face the thought of being in the office more than 3 days per. week. I think I would go crazy being a sahm and really admire those who can do it. I need a bit of both really, to keep me sane.

My boss deosn't know about how I want to use my a/l as I haven't mentioned that.

I just proposed doing a 30 hour week (instead of 35 hrs), over 4 days, one being from home. I previously did 5 days compressed into 4, so the only change is its 5 hrs less, and I would be at home 1 day pre. week. Other people work from home 1 or 2 days a week in the company. What is there not to agree?

foxcub · 30/08/2007 21:22

ps. Kiwi - I wassupposed to return to my last job after mat leave - or else pay them back my enhanced pay. I git into a dipute with them bout it and ended up never going back. They never even tried to recover the money as it would cost them too much in court fees etc and lead to bad publicity.

TheBlonde · 30/08/2007 21:34

Happy Birthday Foxy!

foxcub · 30/08/2007 21:37

Where have you been Blondie? How is it going?

kittywits · 30/08/2007 22:38

Right , I can't cope with facebook. I don't know who is who and I can't keep 2 sets of message boards going
Plus I can't operate facebook!

Kiwi, yes i'm Emma

Are you having a drinky foxy?

kiwibella · 30/08/2007 23:38

Foxy, my boss is an arse... he would follow through just for the craic.

foxcub · 31/08/2007 08:52

Kiwi -

Kitty - I keep gettimng confused too. I mean let's face it, if I cannot remember my own kids names, how on earth do I remember who is who on Facebook/MN? :p

Rosylily · 31/08/2007 10:12

Happy birthday for yesterday Foxy! Spent ages reading all the messages and it's all a blur of facebookness. I'm in the 'haven't a clue' camp

Welcome codyryly

Congratulations Spongecake!

Muppet, the shoes are gorgeous and a bargain!

Donegal was gorgeous, I love it. It was hard work too though with the children. In many ways home routine is easier than all that enjoying yourself. So after gallavanting all over the place all summer I'm ready for september now. There are leaves all over the ground here

Hasan was 18lbs something or another 12 days ago. He keeps sucking his toes

Rosylily · 31/08/2007 11:36

The house is full of holiday washing and the children unwashed and hungry. I've been neglecting them to nosey at facebook I've attempted to send you a message Mossy...it's bloody confusing. I don't think anyone i know in rl is on it.....

Oh and Diva when you join it, it can definately be used as a dating agency...you can say what you are looking for and if you are single or in an open marriage etc but also you can give all your info and make it clear that you are not on it for that....I'm too old for all this, I only just got the hang of mumsnet! (scuttles off to feed children)

muppethasakitten · 31/08/2007 11:51

Hope you've got a birthday hangover foxy!!

welcome back rosy... hols sound good.. leaves on the ground ... that was summer then????

I'm off to the IOW... forecast looks good... won't be sailing with the rest of my in-laws but am planning on sitting down lots and drinking copious amounts of wine.

kiwi when you flew with Kate - did you take the pushchair to the gate? and what about car seats????????? Please!!!!! Someone advise me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

shanks313 · 31/08/2007 12:05

Happy belated birthday foxy

Here everything is okay.

Deanna is eating her purees well and mostly likes vegetables like carrots and broccoli rather than fruit.
She rolls both ways now and crawls backwards so really have to watch her on the floor.
Im so proud of her because tomorrow she is going to her first ever birthday party!!!!1
One of her friends from baby group.I cant even remember going to parties when I was younger and shes got a proper invite and everything.

As for the pregnancy,I have my booking in with the midwife next Tuesday.Im soooo tired all the time and finding it really hard to stay awake with Deanna.
Been in tears most of this morning which I think is hormones,I want to be out and I have nowhere to go or anybody to visit and just feeling lonely.Managed to tempt DH with Burger King if he will meet me for lunch and he agreed.

Btw-for anyone who doesnt know Im Helen on facebbok.

Rosylily · 31/08/2007 12:07

Oh yeah Muppet, meant to say...I flew recently to cork. The car seat had to go in the hold and I just held Hasan strapped with baby strap on my lap. (Or on long flights you get a basinette thing...)Buggies can be wheeled up to the plane then they put it in the hold and give it to you at the bottom of the steps again coming off usually.

muppethasakitten · 31/08/2007 13:09

thanks 4 that rosy - are there still hand luggage restrictions like putting things in clear bags etc and tasting baby foods?

kiwibella · 31/08/2007 14:51

sorry muppet!! When we flew with Kate we were able to take the pushchair to the gate. We weren't as fortunate as Rosy - we had to collect ours from the luggage carousel at the other end. So, there was lots of carrying Kate in the airports in between.

On the plane, she had a kiddies belt that attached to mine and we had the use of a bassinette. There are only a few onboard so make sure you reserve one (phone the airline directly!!).

The other thing is that you are allowed a more generous baggage allowance to take on the plane for the baby. I didn't use half of the junk I lugged about but atleast it was there if I needed it.

There are changing tables in some of the toilets too.

I found the airline staff really helpful. At one point, one of the crew took Kate for a walk with him! Oh, another time when there was a queue for the loos we were allowed to use the ones in business class.

Anything else??

kiwibella · 31/08/2007 14:53

I didn't find that Muppet (but I didn't have solids back then). I had taken cartons of prepared formula and the only problem I had was opening them. Apparently, even the crew don't have scissors / knives etc.

kiwibella · 31/08/2007 14:55

Actually Muppet... my best advice would be to call the airline with your questions. I found them to be really helpful (and I wanted them to be aware that I was travelling on my own with two kids!!).

muppethasakitten · 31/08/2007 15:55

thanks for that kiwi! Will phone them!!! Not actually flying til end of September but suddenly starting to dawn on me that i've never flown with a baby b4 - the elder 2 were quite self sufficient the first time i flew with them! It's a whole new ball game with a baby!

Mossy · 31/08/2007 19:42

Hello all, see I haven't completely gone over to the dark side lol!!

Just it is a lot of fun on facebook though... Rosy I sent you a message back.

It's all phatic communication there really, lots of silly things you can do like send beers to people etc.

Whereas here you can actually catch up with what's going on!

Wanted to let you know, I texted Dolly 'cos not heard from her in a bit, she is fine but busy. Her two dc's are very cute, she texted me pics.

Shanks get Deanna with her birthday invite! Things are different "these days" aren't they? I don't think I got a party invite until I was about 20!!

Rosy I replied to you on facebook.

Diva yes I suppose you could use it as a dating agency if you wanted but then again, I think most things are a bit like that these days... I'm after nowt more than to send silly flowers to my mates. Did you get my text btw? Dh says he doesn't want to go to a wedding of someone he doesn't know (what that means is, he doesn't want to chauffer me to a wedding of someone he doesn't know) so it'll just be me and Bertie, I am so excited!

Sorry Codyryly I meant to say hello!!

divastrop · 31/08/2007 21:20

mossy-i replied to your text.i assume you'll be coming by train then?the registry office is only 5 mins walk from the train station.

ive just realised i havent even thought about getting from the RO to the reception.i couldnt organise a sh*g in a brothel,me.and dp's reply to anything wedding related now is 'whatever'.

I'm still about facebook.ive already seen two threads on here about people being up to no good on there.i wonder how many people who's oh's think they are happily married, will state that they are in an open relationship to get bits on the side?

shanks-a birthday party already?wow, she's going to have a great social life.its bloody hard work being pregnant and having a lo to look after.do you have an EDD yet?

morocco · 31/08/2007 21:46

hello girls!
sorry to be out of touch for so long, so much news to catch up on
congrats sponge, hope it was a glorious wedding
also congrats shanks!!!! omg, when are you due?
i'm trying to break my mnet habit (whispers 'it's getting a bit dull apart from you lot') and have had a lot of stuff going on. apart from anything else, my gdad died a few weeks ago, very very sad. he was in a terrible way when he went so it was a blessing but still . . .
so i'm hoping to stay only on here, vbac sites, nappies and bfeeding - kick me off if you see me anywhere else lol!
love to all

shanks313 · 31/08/2007 22:01

diva and morocco-edd at moment for new babe is April 5th 2008 so if a week early like Deanna will be another March baby lol

kiwibella · 31/08/2007 22:10

congrats Shanks... and exciting for you too!!

Ok... my dramas with the benefits people continues . This is both shameful and hilarious. I got two letters from them today.

First one that I opened had both girls' birth certificates in.

The second one had a generic form thing addressed to me but with someone else's Polish birth certificates.

divastrop · 31/08/2007 22:51

bella-now why doesnt that surprise me?oh yes, because they are notoriously shite

morocco-hi!was wondering where you had got to.sorry to hear about your grandad
i think this site needs updating so we can choose to subscribe to certain threads/topics like you can on most forums.active convos is too tempting sometimes and i often read things i shouldnt that upset me or make me.
