Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
codyryley · 22/08/2007 18:45

ouch sounds really painful! i stopped breast feeding at 16 weeks as ryley was never satisfied and he went ages without having a poo but he is so much happier since i stopped!

diva - my sisters bday! i got married in the winter as well. luckily the sun came out that day.....must have been a sign lol

how old is everyone......im 23

Piffle · 22/08/2007 19:02

24th sounds good

Anyone else planning an overnighter shall we tally up and find the same hotels?

muppethasakitten · 22/08/2007 20:36

codyr - I have a really lovely hv who is completely unlike any other hv I've ever met! She is full of sensible advice and really listens to what you yourself think about things

... taking into consideration Samuel's size and obvious interest in food she was fine about me starting to wean a little early. I'm still breastfeeding him for loads of time in the night so it hasn't helped with that but i think that may be more of a habit thing than a hunger thing. He's not having vast amounts of solids by any means but he's getting the idea.

I am confused.... is the half term meet up in brighton? I'd love to come but will have to bring other dc's prolly... is that what others are doing?

foxcub · 22/08/2007 21:08

I will deffo be bringing the DCs.

WE could probably put someone up at ours overnight

kiwibella · 22/08/2007 21:20

woohoo... a date!! I'll have bubs and MissE (who I am hoping will fall in love with Piff's big boy cause he sounds so lucious).

We would definately be up for staying over night and like the sound of tee-ing up accommodation. Travelodge?? B&B??

Diva... I am so insanely excited for you (can u tell???).

Same with the tooth nipping and Kate just hangs on there ouch!! Her tooth has gone back down today but one corner of it is poking through. Drugged her today when the screaming became too much.

We have lovely health visitors here too. I listen to everything they say, sometimes try it out, but mostly listen to my daughter.

Callieco · 22/08/2007 21:44

Hello, hello, I made it to Dublin and back without having a nervous breakdown. Have to say, apart from the first 20 mins of the first flight, when I nearly swore never to fly with DS again until he was at least 18, he was a star and is obviously destined to be a big traveller (hopefully with his mama in tow...). In all fairness, the plane was roasting, so I don't blame him for complaining. I plugged in a bottle despite it not being feeding time and he fell asleep, hurrah. The weather was crap for first two days but then improved a bit, and I got to see three friends which was brilliant. I also saw a 3-month-old baby elephant at Dublin zoo - how cute was that??? And a babyish giraffe.

Hello codyryley, my son Jordi is 7.5 months but should be 5.5 months, and weighs about 19lbs.

Ooh, talk of a meet-up I might be able to make at last! I think I'm here in October - has anyone looked into (cheap) places to stay?

Piffle · 23/08/2007 07:23

My dp looked at me like I was cuckoo saying I'd take 3 kids on my own to Brighton on a whim... Not worried about meeting cyber folks at all though

Ds1 is more like an au pair in a lot of ways, now could he not go I'd be scared...

We'll see what transpires, being half term ds1 may well bugger off with his father to some glamorous European locale, but he does alos have lots of friends in Brighton (all luvvies I'm fairly sure )

T'will be closest thing I get to a holiday this year at any rate!

kiwi - ds1 wants to go to NZ to live Your Miss E is gorgeous, he'd be a lucky chap indeed! tell you what bloody scary thought he is 14 in Feb... in 4 yrs he'll be thinking about leaving home for uni

Callie glad you had a nice trip - have seen baby elephants before they are amazingly mini mes of their mums and so cute.

Had SHITE night last night, Finn and dd both had their immunisations yesterday, Finn had only about 4 feeds yesterday as well as he was GRUMPY from teething madly, so I knew he'd be up
a) teething
b) hungry
c) poss side effects from the jabs

In any event it was just b) but lots of it...

However dd was really ill (puking) fro ehr vacc - she was not great as a baby either I recall but she was so brave having the jabs, not one sound. Very matter of fact. Bless her.

So Finn fed at 5.35, dp up at 5.45 dd rushing in at 5.47 and being sick...

I was never getting Finn back to bed so just got up and he is back down now, dd is watching tv with her cuddly blanky. She seems fine now.

foxcub · 23/08/2007 11:31

Oh you poor thing Piffle - sounds a nightmare

Callie - I love Dublin - I'm glad you had a nice time there. Its a great place isn't it? Nice place to go for Jordie's first trip abroad too!

Kiwi- I meant to ask actually, did you say there is a NZ Maorie local group near where you live? That's cool! I'm not aware of any Aboriginal Australian groups in the UK (apart from campaigning human rights type groups) - I gues there aren't many Aboriginals living over here>

I wonder how many Maori people there are in the UK?

Just reminded me actually, DH and I used to live with a Maori guy in Dublin! He used to kepe his motorcycle in the living room I seem to remember and the whole house stunk of petrol

kiwibella · 23/08/2007 12:04

Hi Foxy... I think you might be surprised how many Aboriginals live abroad. There are hundreds of NZ Maoris over here! An adult culture group and our kids group both run from NZ House. Then there is a Maori Weaponry school and a Pacific Island performing group.

Our kids group have an annual hangi (traditional way of cooking a roast underground) and easily sell 300 tickets. It's in Surrey - so maybe next year you should come along??

This year is our tenth anniversary so it's all go-go-go with events planned to celebrate. I thought it would be fun to be chair this year - since I was at home and all!!!

Ngati Ranana (the adult group) have been going for more than 40 years!!!

Piffle · 23/08/2007 15:23

ohhh hangi...
my brothers first ever girlfriend was Maori and they were together 5 yrs, her 20th birthday was a mega hangi with all the whanau. The food was to die for (excluding the kinas)

Finn has been a bloody grumble ass today, am blaming the jabs, he is never like this. D was sick this am as well (she had her pre school booster yesterday too) and has had major headache all day so I think Finn would like a decent trip out for a change of view but can't go anywhere as dd is so poorly.
Nothing half a bottle of cab sav won't fix...

Am popping new pics up right now, managed to catch him as he moved from sitting to getting over onto his hands and knees, he has not yet mastered the ending and often goes head first... so was lucky to catch him before he toppled...

right....

foxcub · 23/08/2007 16:23

Piffle have you tried Calpol and infant Nurofen together? That did the trick with Monti when he was a grumbly bum after his jabs.

Kiwi - that Hangi next year sounds great - let us know the details We live in Surrey so that would be easy to get to

foxcub · 23/08/2007 16:24

Aww look at Finn trying to put his head up and crawl

kiwibella · 23/08/2007 21:05

what a brilliant grin wee Finn has!! Hope you get a good night's sleep after all your adventure today Piffle .

Glad you survived the journey to / from Dublin Callie. Hope you all had a fabbo time.

TheBlonde · 23/08/2007 21:20

Hi everyone
Sorry just skimmed the thread... is a meet up being planned?
i saw the date Wednesday 24 October but missed the location??

divastrop · 23/08/2007 21:37

looks like we're all doing arranged marriages on this thread then

where's mossy disappeared to again?

ds2 was up at 4.55 this morning.he refused to go back to bed.im trying to get him out of night-time nappies which has gone well sofar apart from the fact he obviously thinks that if he wakes up for a wee then he has to stay up!

Elsie+dd2 were up at 6 as well.i made sure nobody could escape from the living room then dozed on the sofa for a while, with Elsie next to me asleep in her chair and ds2+dd2 playing car crashes.

callie-glad you had a great time.

i'd love to go to ireland.maybe in about 10 years.

Piffle · 24/08/2007 10:45

Gawd where has my big napping happy son gone?
DD woke up womited first thing again... But she was an hour later than her little brother who was up with the birds

He is not as grumpy but seems to now not EVER be content laying down

he cna get out of his bumbo so he sits in the pram or in my widgey feeding pillow propped up

Am seriously thinking highchair needed asap.

Anyway he's howling, dd needs her hair drying. Dare not go into kitchen atm...

kiwibella · 24/08/2007 16:15

such a quiet day 'round here!!

Poor dd, Piffle. She can't have much left to throw up. Sorry to hear your lil man isn't sleeping so well.

Kate too - her afternoon nap is getting shorter and shorter and she becomes so grumpy . It doesn't help that dh is getting in later and later (I know, I shouldn't complain considering the situation you are now in with your dh, Piffle). Kate is screaming down the place so I have left her too it for a mo.

She is six months today and I had her weighed - 6.9kg... which is 3kg more than birth. I dunno the pounds / kg conversion .

Diva, hmmmm... your ds' logic about getting up for the loo .

Have you noticed how dark it is in the evenings now??? It is still ages until the time changeover.

kittywits · 25/08/2007 16:42

hello I'm back!!
Weather shite(great now of course )

Can anyone fill me in on essentials? Too lazy to read through your chatter

kitty-welcome back

i think thers only been about 5 posts since you went.all these people with lives and that

spongecake · 25/08/2007 22:00

hi everyone, am back! and a married lady there are HUGE numbers of posts so have no chance of reading them. I just hope everyone has had a nice August so far and if things haven't been great hope they get better soon.

wedding was brilliant...even if i say so myself and we have moved- i can't tell you how excited i was to have clean running water after the nightmare of the floods.

baby laughed when i offered him some petit filou today and pushed it away.. he tastes anything but likes to bf so much. the only thing he really gobbled down until full was some fish soup in a restuarant in france will go and look on weaning to see what others are doing. he is v happy mind and getting bigger, sitting up etc. but any advice welcome....

diva, when's your wedding day?

divastrop · 25/08/2007 22:13

sponge-congratulations!!have you posted piccies???

im getting married on october 20th.

kiwibella · 25/08/2007 22:26

welcome back Kitty and Spongecake... and HUGE CONGRATS!!!!!!

I'm so glad to hear that things are going well for you.

I didn't know that there was a weaning thread - u lot are my inspiration . But lots of ideas there... and a million more questions.

We are having a nightmare time with Kate. Deserved, I know, because she's always been so brill. Kate is not sleeping much and ranges between happily yelling and screaming. Hubs and I are running on auto-pilot!! She does have a tooth just poking through her bottom gum but it doesn't appear to be giving her much bother (ie no obvious signs of teething). I dunno .

kittywits · 26/08/2007 11:10

Huge congrats spongecake!!!!

Weaning thread ?!!
