the newest april 2006 thread started on april 1st and only has 115 posts so far, do you think we'll all drift off by the time the babies are 1?

i'm getting paid my new wage for my 10 days, which is £2.68 more an hour than the old wage!

Pinions · 03/08/2007 22:14

But April 2006 didn't have our commune by the sea .

JoMa · 03/08/2007 22:16

but i may only do my 10 days and leave. i love the job, love the people. but i have to pay the nursery in advance and i just don't have the money to do it. i also have a bt bill to pay, powergen are threatening court action, and i am going to court over the rent arrears. i wanted to get back to work to get myself back on track (all been up the spout since justin didn't pay bills before he left), but doesn't look like i can

No, I'm not that sneaky, hadn't even looked at it like that, honest
In fact I have popped in to work for update meetings etc and will keep doing that unpaid, but if I'm going to do a full day of more than just listening, I'd like to get paid! I mentioned KIT days to my boss and asked how I register them, I probably didn't put it very well, and he said "Well it doesn't matter if you don't tell them, they don't need to know"
At that point I realised he didn't really know about them (fair enough as they were only just coming in) and decided I'd sort it out without bothering him. After all, I had to read the maternity policy and remind him to respond to my letter!

JoMa · 03/08/2007 22:16

i might have to live in a commune the way things are going here!

Sorry to hear that JoMa. Do the nursery take vouchers and are you getting them? I assume you're getting everything you're entitled to? It would be such a pity as you like this job.

weeonion · 03/08/2007 22:20

joma - real shame that you might have to give up something that you enjoy. no way out of this? coudl justins family not help out???

Pinions · 03/08/2007 22:20

Joma surely as you are a "single mum" all your nursery fees are paid for?

Katy44 · 03/08/2007 22:23

I should point out that my boss is currently doing 3 jobs and managing 2 teams that are understaffed
Pretty much the same all over I'm sure

Pinions · 03/08/2007 22:27

(Hope you don't mind the phrase single mum, couldn't think of any other way of putting it).

Pinions · 03/08/2007 22:28

Katy I'd never even heard of KIT days before MN tbh!

Pinions · 03/08/2007 22:33

Someones just knocked at the front dooe to tell us lights left on in the car, thought he was going to say it was all bashed up for a moment!

Cor someone coming to the door at 10.30 the most exciting thing thats happened all week, blimey what a sign of the times, there was once a time I was just getting ready to go out at 10.30 .

JoMa · 03/08/2007 22:33

they ddn't exist until April pinions

Yeah right, I get 80% paid, but in arrears, tax credits won't pay in advance, but all nurseries ask for payment in advance.

Justin owes me maintenance for this month and hasn't paid it yet. his family are not speaking to me.

OP posts:
Pinions · 03/08/2007 22:41

Is it a permanent job, can't you ask family to help out at all just in the short term. Get a loan for the nursery fees and when you get reimbursed pay them back? And whats happened with Justins family?

SOL If you are still around, whats your secret in looking forward to working? Do you relly enjoy your job? Do you find it more rewarding than being at home? Hope you don't mind me asking!

And on a completely not relevant point, there has been a sighting of Madeleine McCann.

Pinions · 03/08/2007 22:43

Katy, SOL, Weeonion, have we tired you out!

JoMa · 03/08/2007 22:45

yes permanent, the only family have to help are skott and gran, who are already doing one day each a week to help, i can't ask them to do mor than thta, they are both busy with their lives, and it wouldn't help as the nursery have a waiting list and i can't give up the place for just a month then expect it back again.

i can't get a loan, if i could i would, but as a single mum on the basic maternity leave pay i'm not credit-worthy.

and justin's family are a whole other story. joe has no paternal grandparents as far as i'm concerned right now.

JoMa · 03/08/2007 22:47

sorry, just feeling very low at the moment.

oh, and tomorrow is cancelled, he's stuck in France.

OP posts:
Katy44 · 03/08/2007 22:48

No still here, just doing some preparation for Monday
Can't believe they are still causing you misery Ellie, you'd think they'd want to stay on your good side

Pinions · 03/08/2007 22:50

But what I mean is for the sake of giving up a job that you seem to like, which is good for both yourself and your family, you might be able to ask family for the money, considering you would be able to pay it back as its guaranteed money??I don't think it takes long to come through.

JoMa · 03/08/2007 22:53

i don't have any family i can ask pinions. when mum left she took everything and left dad with no job so he is labouring and lives in a council house. if tehy could help me they would but they can't.

OP posts:
Pinions · 03/08/2007 22:58

OK don't mean to pry.

Can you not explain your situation to the nursery, they know you quite well and they know your circumstances.

I know, you're just missing your MN too much aren't you lol .

JoMa · 03/08/2007 23:00

yeah, that's it
tho i am quite scared by the april 06 thread. what will i do in the evenings if we all disappear
no, i have tried talking to nursery, i have always paid weekly in the past, but because it is such a large amount and they are just getting back money they are owed from a parent who paid weekly and then stopped paying, they say they can't do anything.
