Evening all! Been trying to catch up/post on here since 20.15 but a certain small person has other ideas! Completely forgotten everything I've read.

Like the new name flashfinn. Good to see Dippy is back and enjoyed her hols.

and at some of your nappy collections. Would have to sell George to finance a habit like that!

We've had another lovely day here. After our successful trip to Middlesborough for the wedding yesterday today we did cricket. Some friends of mine had organised a charity match. Dh played, bowled quite well, won't talk about his batting performance. I only managed to do about half the scoring as g needed feeding and settling a couple of times. As the score box was in a loft, up 2 ladders he had to stay in the pavilion with Aunty Marie (my bf who is 7 wks pg). She did a sterling job and it's all good practise for her Quite sad dh is back at work tomorrow as we've had a lovely weekend.

flashfinn · 05/08/2007 21:47

Hello CD - glad you enjoyed your hols

mammyjo - no offence taken - although am rather envious of the weekend piss ups

elkiedee · 05/08/2007 21:49

Hi all, welcome back Dippy and nice to hear from you again Emma. SOL, I'm sorry to hear you had a hot and difficult night but you've survived to tell the tale.

I've had a quiet weekend, a chance to get a bit of reading in which I find hard to do when I'm on my own with Danny as when he falls asleep (and he's not on my lap) there's always so much else to fit into the time before he wakes up again. DP and I have had some quite upsetting spats but I think we've come through them, a lot of it's just being too hot and tired and both getting anxious about the best thing to do for the little one.

And we've been to the very nearby park for an hour or so both days, D seems to enjoy lying down and looking around him at everything.

CaptainDippy · 05/08/2007 21:49

Sounds like a lurvely time Leaky hon - I am always sad when DH has to go back to work on Monday! Sigh.

flashfinn · 05/08/2007 21:54

Hello Leaky and Elkie

I am off to bed now - get some sleep in Got woken 8 times the other night ... was in terrible mood!

flashfinn · 05/08/2007 21:55

what is reading?

haven't read anything myself for ooooh about 6 years!

leakyR · 05/08/2007 21:56

Elkie at your reading this weekend. I never have time anymore. I was an AVID reader pre-baby. Think I've averaged one book a month since G was born, where I used to do one or two a week before!

Dh has gone to bed and I think I might join him as the little man seems set for another very disturbed night. Has only just gone to sleep again. He has woken, cried and been fed or cuddled 5 times since 8pm.

Goddnight everyone.

flashfinn · 05/08/2007 21:56

do keep going into bookshops and buying books but never get to read them ... one day I will have time to read

Goodnight xxx

elkiedee · 05/08/2007 21:56

I'm impressed by the gardening Dippy. And awed and intrigued by those lists of different types of reusable nappies. You know, this time last year I had no idea how much money was being made somewhere out of selling stuff to new parents - and their friends and relatives.

leakyR · 05/08/2007 21:57

Goodnight even!

Can you tell I'm sleep-deprived?

WestCountryLass · 05/08/2007 21:58

I am back from my camping trip. I got the email with everyones news, no mention of me being away as well but I will try not to take it personally....

I am so sorry to hear about your MIL Octo, I hope your family is bearing up as well as can be expected under the circumstances

We had a fabulous time camping. We were SO lucky with the weather. It rained on Thursday morning and we all had to don the wet weather gear but apart from that it has been great. We visited lots of places and the kids had fun, I think the bit they liked best was bathing in Leos baby bath al fresco in the evenings

On Thursday afternoon we went to visit the house my DH grew up in and he was lucky that the owners were in and they let him look around On the way though a young girl wrote her car off in front of us. We were driving down a hill following her and all of a sudden she lost control and hit a fence at 50mph. Poor thing was really shaken up but will hopefully be fine and her car was a right off, some guys that stopped with a tonka style car, dragged it out the way of the traffic for her and said something about a ball thingy snapping so it was not her fault at all.

While we were away our DD was getting up early and going to bed late and it became more apparant that one of her eyes wanders when she is tired (I had noticed it before but it was not all the time) so I took her to the Opticians today and she is long sighted in one eye and needs glasses so she is referred to Eye Hospital for prescription.

Apart from that, all is well here, Leo is growing like a weed, trying to sit up, trying to roll, leaping around in his door bouncer and generally doing what a 4 monther should

elkiedee · 05/08/2007 22:00

I used to read a book every 2 days in a good month. I finished reading 3 in May including one before Danny was born, 5 in June and 4 in July, but I'm actually surprised that I've managed even that many.

elkiedee · 05/08/2007 22:02

wcl, welcome back. Glad you and kids enjoyed holiday and observing Leo's development sounds like great fun.

Katy44 · 05/08/2007 22:02

Hi and goodnight
Oh T hadn't swallowed his dummy - I'd put it on the table There was me feeling under his bum and looking under his chair and he was giving me the wide eyed innocent look - he was innocent this time

flashfinn · 05/08/2007 22:04

Hello WCL - its me Octo! Thank you for your kind message. Distraction seems to be the key at the moment - the intial shock seems to be over but the funeral is on thursday and dh is regressing as more plans are being made. I feel so sorry for him and his dad/brother - so hard on them

I will be around for 2 weeks - wb 13th & 20th - then away again. If you fancy coming over to mine with just Leo on the weekend of 18th - dh will be back in Plymouth and I will probably just have ernie but no car! Well will have the S2000 but ernies car seat not allowed in it cos of air bag.

Katy44 · 05/08/2007 22:04

WCL that accident sounds nasty - glad she was just shaken
And welcome back to you - I'm not here, can you tell?

flashfinn · 05/08/2007 22:05

Katy - would be a bit of a shocker if he poo'd it out

lol katy

WestCountryLass · 05/08/2007 22:14

Hi Flashy/Octo, why the name change???

I can totally relate, it was hard when my DHs Mum died, watching him, his sister and Dad getting through it

DH has the week of the 20th off and we are planning on going away but will probably go on the 18th/19th as we have to come back on the Saturday for a party so I am going to have to decline your kind invite i'm afraid.

I am about on the week of the 13th though so let me know what days are good for you, have you still got my mobile number?

WestCountryLass · 05/08/2007 22:15

What are you meant to be doing Katy, instead of being here?

CaptainDippy · 05/08/2007 22:15

I love reading - impressed by your reading Elkie - I used to read a lot when I was BF DD1; not much time for it now though, which is a shame. Am part of a book group, so I just about managed to keep on top of those reads, which is one a month. Just finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter, which wasn't bad - one of the main chars was called Phoebe though, which kept befuddling me a little!

Glad you found the dummy katy - We find ours in some mighty weird places sometimes!!

WCL - My DD1 has a "wandering eye" too - not connected to sight though so glasses won't fix it. She is going in for day surgery on 20th Aug - absolutely terrifed!! glad your DD can just have glasses to correct it hopefully - glasses are cool!! Glad you enjoyed your trip away - LOL @ al fresco bathing in the tub!!
