Have an interview tomorrow (was using BigOnion as a cover, but think ppl at work know now).
Have been having a practice interview (have to do a presentation as well) with a panel of DH, T, Roger the Rattle, Moo Cow and Sniff the Hedgehog.
I hope they're not that tough tomorrow!

elkiedee · 05/08/2007 22:20

Good luck Katy, interesting practice interview panel you had there

WestCountryLass · 05/08/2007 22:24

CD, i'm not bothered about her having glasses, I am really short sighted and have worn them since I was small.

My DS has nystagmus, so he has wobbly eyes, now DD has a wandering eye and Leo has sticky eye. We are the Addams family I tell ya!

Has your DD got good vision? I hope the op works wonders. It is scarey when your little ones have to have an op, DS had a minor op when he was little, and I can only imagine how worried you are especially when it is their eyes.

normabutty · 05/08/2007 22:26

Good luck for tomorrow katy!

WestCountryLass · 05/08/2007 22:29

LOL Katy and good luck for tomorrow

weeonion · 05/08/2007 22:34

bloody yucky et day here today. we were all stuck in the house under each others feet all day. 5 adults, 2 dogs and one baby makes for a noisy day. i ended up taking c out for a walk by the harbour in our new buggy in the pouring rain. cue strange looks from the villagers.

hope you are all grand and this is a fab week for us all. xoxoxooxoxoxoxox

weeonion · 05/08/2007 22:36

katy - good luck for the interview. just think of them all being nude or such like advice??

Katy44 · 05/08/2007 22:38

weeonion - I have to work with these people (whether I get the job or not) so I'd rather not!!
Thanks for the good luck everyone, sorry for the self centred posts recently, will try to make an effort to more than skim the rest of the thread after tomorrow

CaptainDippy · 05/08/2007 22:45

All the best for tomorrow katy - LOL @ your selection panel!

WCL - No, DD1's eyesight is not affected, bless her. She's our "sickly child" - hernia op when she was 19 months, pneumonia when she was 15 months - you'd think she would be a dab hand at this hospital lark by now!! LOL @ Addams Family!

DH has fallen asleep on the floor next to me and has just started snoring - think I had best take him off to bed .....

Night all!

Katy44 · 05/08/2007 22:46

Night CD

flashfinn · 06/08/2007 07:37

OK night

Sun is shining - trying to think of what to do all day .....

Katy44 · 06/08/2007 07:56

Morning

liath · 06/08/2007 08:54

Morning. Wet here - typical Edinburgh Festival weather ! When did you live here, maveta?

Mammyjo - the cupcakes are nice on their own but the original recipe is for frosted white chocolate icing - 100g white chocolate (melted then left to cool) then beat 140g soft butter with 140g icing sugar then beat in the butter.

CD and WCL, glad you both had good holidays.

Am supposed to be reading The Memory Keepers Daughter for my book club, too.

Mind's gone a blank - hope everyone's OK. I spent the weekend at my mum's to leave DH in peace to revise. Didn't help the diet - had huge roast chicken dinner yesterday then pavlova. My mum seems to think that because I'm BF I need giant portions of everything.

liath · 06/08/2007 08:55

Meant "beat in the chocolate" at the end of the recipe.

maveta · 06/08/2007 09:18

Morning! Good luck for the interview today Katy - how exciting! Let us know how you get on.

WCL - his sticky eye.. is that just when he´s got lots of yellow ´sleep´ in his eye all the time? Not sure if it´s the same thing but Noah had that really badly for ages, like waking up with his eye glued together [freaky] then my SIL told me that her opthamologist said it´s a blocked tear duct so if you massage the tear duct twice a day for a week or so it will clear up. And it did! and the ´massage´ is just placing the ball of your index finger in the corner of his eye against his nose and pushing lightly but firmly against the tear duct you can feel under the skin. If you imagine pushing on a spot so any gunk will be forced through the tear duct opening in the eye. I only saw gunk come out once, otherwise nothing but after a week it did indeed clear up. And it´s just a little ´push´ once, twice a day.

If it´s not the same thing, well that was all complete irrelevant but may be of interest to anyone else if their baby gets chronically gunky eye!

maveta · 06/08/2007 09:20

´lightly but firmly´ is that even possible??

well i meant you know, do it like you mean it but no need to leave a bruise..

WestCountryLass · 06/08/2007 09:28

Hiya

Yes, Maveta, it is the same thing. I have been trying to do the massage thing but am a bit lapsydaisical (sp?) about it He has also had antibiotic cream and the Dr said they might 'operate' and I was like "might they", no one asked me!!!!

Got to go, Leo has managed to back arch his way out of his seat and 360 on the floor so better rescue him!!!!

Am doing as little as possible today, will take the kid out on their bikes but have loads of washing to do and my ironing lady is picking up tonight so need to get it done - boring!

CaptainDippy · 06/08/2007 09:58

Can recommend a really good cure for sticky eye - squirt a bit of breast milk in there - works wonders!!

Morning - how is everyone today??

maveta · 06/08/2007 10:37

The breastmilk in the eye never worked.. I did the massage thing twice a day for about a week to 10 days and it really did clear it up.. it was because the doctor also mentioned to me that if it didn´t clear up they would look at operating!

CaptainDippy · 06/08/2007 10:50

Goodness me!! That is a bit sensationalist!! How are you doing Mav?? How;s the weather there - hot, hot, hot? Tis a little overcast here, have promised DD's they can go out for tea and cake later, bless 'em!

lazyemma · 06/08/2007 10:53

Octo - I just wanted to say I was very sorry to read about your mother in law. My MIL died very suddenly in January (of a pulmonary embolism following a suspected DVT after a plane trip) two months before my daughter - her first grandchild - was born. It was an awful, awful time and it's still difficult. We all miss her terribly, so I understand what you're going through and I sympathise.

CaptainDippy · 06/08/2007 11:07

LazyEmma - I am so to hear that, what a terrible loss for you all.

maveta · 06/08/2007 11:32

oh lazyemma - I´m so sorry about your MIL. I´m not sure if you told us at the time but just in case I missed it, my condolences. x

CD - yeah. hot. hot. hot. bleurgh. August is when I hate living here.. by september I´m dreaming of cool days and rainy nights! I really like October - December and March - June. July - September are just TOO HOT and January and February are TOO COLD (we have no heating so it´s often much much colder indoors than out).

You can take the girl out of Britain but... I think we´ll moan about the weather no matter what we´ve got!

Can anyone tell me if you can get any taxi with a baby or do they have to have a car seat?? Trying to organise a fly-in fly-out trip to London in October for my little sister´s graduation but flight won´t get in til about 11.30pm (gatwick) and trying to figure out how best to get to my sister´s house. She can´t pick us up cos no baby seat

alternative is for N and I to get an afternoon flight and dh to get the late flight when he finishes work. But half the point of him coming is because I´m nervous about flying for 2.5 hours with a 5 month old..

Any brainboxes give me some solutions?

CaptainDippy · 06/08/2007 12:05

You do have to have a car seat for LO's I am afraid Mav (dad is a Taxi driver and I just called him to check!) Some Taxi firms have them though, so worth calling around. Could you take the seat with you on the plane?? Phone airline and ask - There should be some way you could do it, I am sure - Train the other end?

Need to get lunch for DD2 and boobies for DD3 and go and pick DD1 up and head out for tea and cake at their fave children's bookshop.

"See" you all later .....

Kneehighinnappies · 06/08/2007 12:07
