Might not be here for long though as I can hear grumbling. I try to ignore this, but will have to go if it escalates into full blown baby-freak-out.

NattyThomasandEllen · 01/08/2007 19:48

why do they have to do it at the same time? i can deal with one at a time.. but them both screaming? omg why did i think i could cope? im really not coping at all, and its so not like me to feel so grumpy and angry.. im snapping at tom for every little thing.. poor mite

NattyThomasandEllen · 01/08/2007 19:49

oh and i STILL havent had me period and its like a week late and scareing the shit outta me

bumperlicious · 01/08/2007 19:51

Oh, natty are you on your own? Leave E for a bit, she will feed when she is ready. Does she have wind? Or need a poo? That makes DD not feed properly. Re: tom, don't know what to suggest but have you tried putting a thread on the parenting board. Someone is bound to have experience. Sorry you are such a crap day. Just tell yourself it can't last, and soon you can sit down with a well earned glass of wine!

andiem · 01/08/2007 19:54

Natty evening is definitely the worst time isn't it. I call it the witching hours. I have had pretty stressful day too and felt like crying in the car at one point but I just sort of thought this tricky time isn't for long once lo is a bit bigger things will get better.

Is dp around to help I basically flung the baby at mine when he got in

andiem · 01/08/2007 19:56

ooh Natty just seen you are in Croydon I am from Croydon my mum lives in purley. I live in Kingston now so not far

NattyThomasandEllen · 01/08/2007 20:04

thanks guys makes it easier knowing you all have the odd shitty day too
dont have a clue whats up with ellen, seems to have settled now. you'd think 2nd time round id know what i was doing

yup im in croydon.. when are we doing the meet up? looking forward to meeting you all!

NattyThomasandEllen · 01/08/2007 20:05

DH at work AGAIN.. he is practically living there at the moment.. miss him like hell and he wont be home for at least 5 hours

bumperlicious · 01/08/2007 20:19

Andiem I do that with mine! Bless him!

Natty, sorry you are on your own. Do you have a double buggy? Can you stick them in it and take them out? If nothing else it will make the screaming seem quieter!!! We are here for you anyway, and most of us seem to have days when we feel like we are not coping! Remember it's feeling like you are not coping, are they safe? Are they fed? (well are you offering them food even if Ellen is not taking it? You are coping brilliantly!

NattyThomasandEllen · 01/08/2007 20:25

aww thanks bumper..

anyone here seen in the night garden on cbeebies?

bumperlicious · 01/08/2007 20:33

No, thankfully DD is still of an age where I don't have to watch children's TV. Poor has to watch sex and the city, location location location and friends! To be fair I did by a tape of nursery rhymes for my car today - 29p from a charity shop! How long before I want to chuck it out of the window on the M25?!

Jamantha · 01/08/2007 20:51

Bumper, my DD has to watch plenty of Friends, Scrubs, assorted history programmes, and Poirot if I'm with her (I'm convinced she now links the music to feeding!) and poker and odd (IMO) films if DH is with her. I did watch a cbeebies programme the other day, but only because it had badgers on it and we love badgers in this house. And we're still trying to think of something for the car (it's a very long way to the grandparents) that she'll enjoy when she's a little older but that won't drive us mad. I think we're going to have to wait until she can listen to story tapes to reach that happy situation though, so a few years of hair pulling out I reckon before then.

foxybrown · 01/08/2007 20:57

Oh Natty - you've reminded me of when I just had DS1. God, tea time was fucking hideous. I'd be in tears more often than not.

It gets better, and doesn't last long - honestly. Tomorrows another day!

NattyThomasandEllen · 01/08/2007 21:01

thats if im still here tomorrow

Jamantha · 01/08/2007 21:07

just about to have my tea - should be ready in about 5 minutes (finally!!) and I can hear chuntering from upstairs. If she dares wake up now, I think I'll be in tears. If she can just wait until I've eaten, or better still until DH gets in from work (although I know it's horrid to wish that on him as he walks in the door) I'll be so grateful.

andiem · 01/08/2007 21:13

I know exactly what you mean Jamantha went to a friends for lunch yesterday and lo either cried or fed for the whole 3 hours we were there. Today he slept while I had my lunch and I just thought thank god

sputnik · 01/08/2007 21:47

sorry to hear you've haad a bad day Natty, I know what you mean, when they both cry it totally drives me up the wall and I become a total witch to DD, then feel guilty. And I'm lucky, DD is 3 and doesn't cry too often, and she's at nursery too. think I'd go mad with both at home all day. They pick up on your stress and that makes it all worse. You will cope somehow, hope tomorrow is better for you.

sputnik · 01/08/2007 21:51

Baby Sputnik has the knack of always starting to fuss as we sit down to eat. I think it's the smell of the food.

bumperlicious · 01/08/2007 22:07

I don't think I have had a lunch at home on my own without DD crying! Like the night time it always seems much worse when you are hungry! And then you have to wolf it down!

We have actually had such a good day ourselves (sorry, not being smug - it can't last!). Went to the clinic then town and she was good as gold, feeing every 3 hours, and went down to sleep at about 7.30 and is still asleep. She doesn't usually sleep this time of night. DH did a night feed last which has made a HUGE difference. I guess if I am less tired I enjoy her more and she is happier. DH wants to do a feed every night, so it will always be like this, though not sure if that us a good idea. I would feel bad for him, plus I'm not sure what it would do for my milk supply if I regularly missed a feed. Also, to make it worthwhile he has been sleeping with her in the living room which isn't ideal. I've suggested we alternate the feeds.

Natty, hope you are feeling better and have had a chance for a break.

sputnik · 01/08/2007 22:22

Doesn't make for relaxing mealtimes, does it?
Glad you had a good day, I think babies like being trundled about a bit actually.

Meant to say Bumper,I read a couple of your bf threads, but didn't post there. Wanted to say that I reckon if your DD's growth is ok and you've established your supply then nothing wrong with trying to go 3 hours or so between feeds. My paediatrician actually advised me no less than 2.5 hours, otherwise the milk supply doesn't recharge enough and they don't get a full feed, so are hungry again sooner - becomes a vicious cycle. Claire, the bf counsellor, (haven't seen her in a while here) also said something similar

sputnik · 01/08/2007 22:25

Also, don't see why you shouldn't wake her up for a night feed at 11, if she'll take it. Mine has his last feed around then and then often sleeps through til 5/6 am

bumperlicious · 01/08/2007 22:50

Thanks Sputnik, that's exactly what I'm going to do now, I know I shouldn't wake her but I fed her at 7 and if I leave her she'll wake at some stupid hour like 12 or 1am when I've just gone to bed. Going to get DH to wake her though as I can't bear to!

Night sputnik, hope you are enjoying the lovely weather! Catch up with you properly soon!

trendaverter · 02/08/2007 11:59

I shall be the first for today then!

DS weighed in at 11.5lb today at 6 weeks old. That's 4lb gained!

My doctor said he had the biggest nuts she had ever seen. I am not sure what to make of that

bumperlicious · 02/08/2007 12:36

Gosh TA that's great. Had dd weighed yesterday, she was 9lb 1oz!

andiem · 02/08/2007 13:15

Hi I had lo weighed yesterday as well and he as 5.12kg sorry don't do pounds but 11 something we are all growing bigguns

hope all well for everyone am having better day today gave very stern talking to to my dsa and the girl I am looking after yesterday and they have been much better behaved today.

But had terrible experience this morning was getting pram out of car so front door was open. Man pulled up in van and bull terrier ran out chased my old cat over the fence and almost caught her and then ran in the house lo was in his chair by the door so I ran in and grabbed chair the dog ran right through into the garden where the other 2 were playing. They were terrified. I was really shaken by it as I was terrified the dog was going to get the baby there was a moment when the dog was in the house with lo and I was running in. The guy apologised but in a very off hand way I just said I have a baby in there. I felt like crying afterwards I was so frightened the dog was going to get lo especially as it was a bull terrier the other kids were really shaken up as well
