@WhatALearningCurve haha i did laugh at him preferring the world facing! I really wish I'd bothered to get the maxi cosi adapters for his pram, just for smaller walks round the supermarket as ours doesn't lie flat but seems pointless now we will be moving out of the carrycot in the next 2 months. Going to brave the carrier again today...

Brobot · 09/07/2019 13:29

@melissa I just have a cheapy one off Amazon but it is good because it is super soft and does the job. I used to put him in it facing me during Colic-Gate but now he faces outwards to see everything going on and it keeps him happy for about 15 whole minutes 🤣.
@WhatALearningCurve sorry that's what I meant, even in the carseat attached to the pram holder he still doesn't like it and I've no idea why, especially since he likes it when my husband is holding the carseat with him in it! I'm absolutely dreading the jabs today- mainly because of the drive there and back! Fingers crossed he naps for a good hour and a half now so that the crankiness is removed before our journey lol

kee80 · 09/07/2019 13:43

@melissa112 I got there and the appointments isn't till tomorrow haha.
I'm glad actually cos little one has been a bit fussy and crying a LOT this afternoon, in fact she's been fussy and moaning the past few days. Hope it doesn't last to much longer

Jenlou1992 · 09/07/2019 14:24

Just had 12 week injections . Glad it was only one injection . She still screamed til they gave her that sugary liquid thing then she was ok . I still feel awful taking her . Sad on the plus side . I joined slimming world last week and lost 5.5lb in my first week .

WhatALearningCurve · 09/07/2019 14:38

@Jenlou1992 that's amazing! Well done! I got 6 off last week through a lot of walking and calorie counting ha

kee80 · 09/07/2019 14:50

@Jenlou1992 my little one has her 16wk ones tomorrow and I'm dreading seeing her scream, it breaks my heart. Well done on the weight loss and also well done @WhatALearningCurve. I've got 3lb to lose then back to pre pregnancy weight

melissa112 · 09/07/2019 15:17

@Brobot haha 15 mins, sounds like mine!!

@kee80 oh no! Glad it worked out for the best though, ours is tomorrow too so fingers crossed they both do ok.

@Jenlou1992 and @WhatALearningCurve well done on the losses this week, that's amazing!

Ok so George has been asleep on me now since 11:15am. I've tried to put him down a couple of times as I'm hungry, thirsty and need a wee!! But he's just cried each time and now here we are 4 hours later. When should I wake him? Or should i let him sleep til he's had enough? He normally would have a bottle now but could still be ok up to 4pm if he wants to sleep. Just seems like a really long nap!?

kee80 · 09/07/2019 15:34

@melissa112 yep fingers crossed. What time are yours? Ours are at 12 so hoping if she does suffer this time then she will just sleep it off through the day.
Regarding George's long nap (lucky you) I would just try putting him down again and let him wake my himself see how he is??

melissa112 · 09/07/2019 15:53

@kee80 ours are at 9:50 so I'm hoping the same thing. He's been fine with the last 2 so could be lucky. After I posted that about his nap i looked down and his eyes were wide open 🤣

Jenlou1992 · 09/07/2019 15:57

@WhatALearningCurve @kee80 thank you and well done to you both . The injections are just the worst . I literally didn't sleep last night in fear of them . The 16week ones are 3 injections? God help me . Let me know how you get on I think it's worst for us as parents xx

Wineandchoccy · 09/07/2019 19:38

@melissa112 we had a lovely holiday thanks. We were only in the lakes so not to far away we went to the zoo and L slept all the way around in the sling Grin The weather was beautiful as well. I was glad to be home though we co slept and she slept terribly.

ballanj · 09/07/2019 20:53

@melissa112 @kee80 good luck with your jabs tomorrow, I'm dreading C's 16 week ones. Although with how rubbish my surgery is at having appointments he will actually be 20 weeks by the time he has them on July 31st. I wanted to try weaning him just before 5 months but think I'll wait until he is over this next lot of jabs.

I just remember him having a fever after the 8 week ones and it was bad enough then and to think he'll be more aware 😭😭😭😭😭

HidCat · 09/07/2019 21:17

Hi everyone, sounds like everyone is going through some sort of development leap atm, we're no different. Had 16week jabs today and little Missy's been distraught this evening though currently passed out in my lap bless her. Sleeping has never really been great with at least 2 feeds per night but the last few nights have been tough as she struggles to settle. She's in just nappy and sleepsuit and seems fine temp wise.

@melissa112 I try to get to a baby group each week but apart from that we just walk the school run twice a day. Over the summer we'll be following the older child to the park most likely 😆 I've had to put the pram away and use the pushchair though as she's trying to roll and gets thrown about too much in the pram 😬.

@Brobot they don't recommend sleep training until at least 4 months so ignore the "spoiling the baby" type comments. Mine does self settle a lot but if she wants cuddles / feeding to sleep, she gets it.

Brobot · 09/07/2019 22:51

@HidCat we had our 16 week jabs today too and I've just got little E to sleep after a very unsettled evening. Those jabs are a nightmare! I'm expecting a very grumpy baby for the next few days. It wasn't fun dealing with it alone either. On the plus side, I got a card through the door tonight from my husband's boss with a £100 spa voucher in it to treat myself since he made my husband go away for work!! Is that not the nicest thing ever!! Certainly took the edge off my mood 🤣🤣.

Well done to everyone on the weight loss! I'm scared to weigh myself tbh because I seem to live on cookies 🤣

cardboard33 · 10/07/2019 06:55

@melissa112 at the cafes the focus tends to be on your baby tbh, particularly if you go to a church/community one with elderly volunteers who love a good nosey at a baby as then they do everything for you and pretty much take him off your hands if you want to 'help mum out' ... It's like free childcare! Or if you do end up talking to the other parents then the "safe" topics are generally talking about your babies (ages, sleeping etc) or the weather ("how has your baby been coping with the recent heat? Hasn't it been awful..") then if you decide you like them you progress onto wider stuff like what they do for a job, where they live etc! There might be something similar to Busy Lizzy where you live? Or maybe it's a case of signing up to lots of different things for the same cost? My local children's centre has very cheap yoga and pilates that you can take your baby to - about £3 a session.

My baby's 16 week jabs were the worst in terms of impact on him. At 8 weeks he mainly just slept, 12 weeks zero impact and then 16 weeks he was off for a few days but he's also betting over a cold which presumably impacted it. @Jenlou1992 yes it was 3 injections. I walked out the doctors surgery with him screaming his head off bit would rather that than him screaming due to being hospitalised for preventable diseases!

kee80 · 10/07/2019 07:53

@HidCat @Brobot hope your little ones managed a good night and feeling ok today. We have ours at 12 today, dreading them! She was fine with the 8 week ones, just sleepy. Hoping she's fine with these to.
My partner is working away this week as well so I'm all alone taking her and looking after her after.
What a lovely gift of your partners boss @Brobot

Jenlou1992 · 10/07/2019 09:08

My LO barely slept last night . Awake every hour and just restless the whole night . Not sure if it's the jabs or she just having an off night . Fingers crossed it's just an off night

melissa112 · 10/07/2019 09:17

@Wineandchoccy lovely, the lakes are beautiful, glad you had such a nice time apart from the sleeping bless her.

@ballanj thanks for the luck for his jabs. Oh i had that thought too about them being more aware, its horrible to hear that injection cry!

@HidCat oh sorry you're going through it too with the leap stuff. Think it's a tricky time now with the leap and a growth spurt around the same time. I really hope your little one is feeling better today after the jabs yesterday.

Is your pushchair lie flat? I really want to get him into the pushchair bit of his pram, he has good head control but it does say over 6 months so not sure... we have the silver cross pioneer and the next seat bit does recline fairly flat... he hates the carrycot.

@Brobot oh no, sorry baby E has been unsettled after the jabs, hope he is feeling better today. Hmmm seems like everyone is saying the 16 week ones are bad. Think we're gonna curl up at home today then and have cuddles and hope for no temperature..how lovely of your husband's boss, that's so nice!

@cardboard33 thanks for the heads up on the jabs. We were the same, sleepy for the first, no difference for the second so really hoping to avoid anything today. But as you say, better this than a preventable disease. How old is your little one now?

The cafe sounds good in theory but i have quite bad anxiety about someone holding him if they have a coldsore and wouldn't know what to say if someone wanted to hold him and they had one. I know its strange and it's something I'm working on as I know it's irrational to go through his life worrying about this. I know as long as they dont kiss him he'll be fine but my anxiety has just taken over recently. I'm going to see the GP next week I think. I've never had a coldsore but some of my family get them and this past week I've been washing my hands literally hundreds of times a day incase i have touched my face and accidentally pass something on...i need help! But thank you for the idea anyway, hoping once i can think more logically that i can do something like that.

@kee80 fingers crossed for today!

kee80 · 10/07/2019 09:22

@melissa112 thank you. Fingers crossed for you too
Regarding pram I've had mine in the push chair mode for a week now and she loves it. Whilst in carry cot mode she used to moan a lot now she's fine. Mine lays down pretty flat and I've also bough a pram insert for it so it supports her head and body whilst sat up

melissa112 · 10/07/2019 09:33

@kee80 thanks. Setting off now! Oh thats good to know.. tempted to try it tomorrow when we go to the aquarium now i know others have too!

melissa112 · 10/07/2019 10:36

Well they are done. He screamed each time one went in but then when the nurse was talking to him afterwards he kept half laughing half crying bless him. No tears since and he's asleep on me now so hoping for a good day.

kee80 · 10/07/2019 12:56

@melissa112 we've just got back from having ours. She screamed to each time I also cried seeing her little face. She's asleep now so hopefully sleep it off

Wineandchoccy · 10/07/2019 13:07

@melissa112 I have the silver cross pioneer, L was hysterical in the carrycot so swapped her to the next part a few feels ago. I have it in the flattest setting plus I have bought a newborn insert by summer infant. She is so much happier in it.

melissa112 · 10/07/2019 13:39

@kee80 it's awful isn't it. Hope she's feeling better after a nap.

@Wineandchoccy is this the insert you have? They have it at Argos so I'm tempted to get DP to pick it up tonight

summerinfant.co.uk/product/snuzzler-terry-ivory/

kee80 · 10/07/2019 14:13

@melissa112 it really is. She's awake now and seems fine. That's the insert I bought for my pram it works really well.

Question on nappies, has anyone moved to size 3 yet? My little one is 13lb and just bought a pack of size says from 13lb. They are the Aldi ones but they seem so big and also seem really thin compared to the newborn size 2. The size 2 seem to fit her just right and say up to 13lb so not sure whether to stick with them for a little while
