ah well, it's good to know that DS is not alone in weeing in inappropriate places. Foxy, I remember your DS doing this.

His behaviour is truly awful, but hopefully the hols will give us some perspective. Big sticker chart getting made tomorrow!

Where is everyone tonight?

daisyandbabybootoo · 21/07/2007 20:45

aha...there you are.

I went to Next at 6:45 tonight as they were closing...picked up some 3-6 mo sleepsuits and velour leggings for DD, but no time for any serious rummaging for me.

loonylovegood · 21/07/2007 20:46

Is the weeing in bad places a boy thing? Like weeing on the bathroom floor? I've obv got all this to look forward to!

I'm sure its just practice for their years of peeing in wardrobes when drunk as adults

loonylovegood · 21/07/2007 20:49

I have to say I bought most of the stuff I needed in the M&S sale. The Next one was pretty dire!

Hi Derlor - did u see my post yesterday about the water thing ? Was looking for confirmation from our VHV. Basically when HV came I said was concerned that DD's nappies bit greeny. She told me to give her water - esp in this "hot weather". WTF - 2 days in a row where it doesn't piss with rain does not a heatwave make!! Anyway I thought that giving a bf baby water wd just fill up her tummy & make her want to feed less. As we already have issues with weight gain, I have ignored her advice but wanted to check in with you to be sure. DD is showing no signs of dehydration, plenty of wee, thankfully not in the toy box or bathroom bin .

derlor · 21/07/2007 21:31

Tallulah - your HV is talking shite!!! an occasional green poo in a BF is normal.
however, consistant green poo along with poor weight gain is usually a sign that she is getting too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk.(hindmilk has most of the calories in it your LO need to grow hence the poor weight gain if not getting this)
when you are feeding her, is she completely draining one breast before you put her to the other?
it could also be a warning that your baby is sensitive to something. Are you taking iron supplements or antibiotics?
Very occasionally, a baby can become sensitive to something in mum's diet which is passed to him through her breastmilk. Does she have any signs of eczema or a rash?
one thing is for sure it is NOT a sign of dehydration - dry nappies and NO poo indicates dehydration.
hope this helps xx

lovely dress annobal. no way my norks would fit in it though!!!!!

annobal · 21/07/2007 21:38

Thought I could wear a nursing singlet top underneath. Also covers all evils

Derlor you are the mine of all baby information - wish you were my HV.

I'm off to watch Jekyll and then to bed. N'night all!

daisyandbabybootoo · 21/07/2007 21:42

back again...I thought she was out, but Nooooooooooooo...more milk needed.

Got a baby sleeping bag in TKMaxx for £10 today...a lovely soft velour one. I think I may have to get another one.

Derlor....are you up for Kelvingrove Park/Gallery on Fri 10th August?

Thanks Derlor,
Not on any meds, nothing diff in my diet & DD no rash or anything. She is very alert & appears completely healthy. Have been switch feeding (10 -15 mins each side)because she tends to fall asleep at the boob but she usually revisits each side 2 or 3 times. Thought this would ensure she gets the hindmilk too.

Be great to meet you in person soon - even if you do have a hook for a hand

derlor · 21/07/2007 22:10

it's a bit old fashioned now Tallulah and not necessarily recommended but i think you should try the one breast technique.
start with the next feed and only give her one breast, if you need to, take her off and put her back on again to waken her up, but don't swap breasts.
then, at the next feed start her off on the same breast until it is completely empty then swap her over. so basically at each feed she starts off getting hindmilk (full of calories) and finishes with foremilk.
I find that it becomes difficult to remember which side i last fed on so i put a twist in my bra when fastening it up to remind me, or you could swap a bracelet from one wrist to the other.
This technique ensures baby gets hindmilk at each feed x

derlor · 21/07/2007 22:14

oops, i meant two breast technique

daisyandbabybootoo · 21/07/2007 22:23

My MW and the BF counsellor told me to only give the one breast each time. Usually she'll have a wee break and then I put her back on the same breast. Sometimes that will satisy her, but other times she gets a bit from the other breast as well. Don't know if that's the right thing to do or not, but she's putting on weight and has nice yellow poo.

How much of any one feed is foremilk and how much hindmilk? I only ask cos I expressed 6ozs from one breast then 2.5ozs from the other breast. The 2.5ozs looks more opaque than the 6ozs, and the 6ozs has separated and has a nice creamy top to it. Is the 2.5ozs just foremilk then?
