Daisy, that's fantastic. There is light at the end of the tunnel!!

foxybrown · 19/07/2007 10:53

No, we finish tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to next week! No shouting in the morning YAYYYYY!

We are hanging out next week, then I've booked in a few sporting activities - just an hour a day for a couple of weeks to give us some structure.

Hey, we should go to the Horniman museum. I'm not ready to do it yet because BF still hurts, but in a few weeks shall we organise a meet up?

My DP is just SOOOO considerate!

He's doing everything he can to make sure I don't want him around, just to make the transition of him going back to work easier for me.

That must be what's going on, I can't think of any other reason why he'd be acting like such a twunt otherwise

loonylovegood · 19/07/2007 10:57

Morning!

Wow foxy, how nice of your dp! Mine is doing the same. Sitting around making the place look untidy, watching cricket, playing on the pc and looking fucking miserable!

I wanna go out. The M&S sale is on and I need to buy stuff, but HV is coming. I wish she'd hurry up, I'm going to miss the bargains!

hi
typing with left hand....
ed has fed on and off since 6am and refuses to be put down. I've tried the sling and he wasn't impressed. He just wants to fall asleep with my boob in his mouth? This has been the drill for the last week!

I can only get in the shower if I am prepared to endure a massive screaming fit with proper tears - is this normal - is he ok crying like this? how can I get him used to being put down? I'd like to take him out in thr pram - but he screams the whole time. Grrrrrrrrr.

Good morning everyone - by the way! Hope you're all ok? I'll stop moaning now.

loonylovegood · 19/07/2007 11:00

My mum has been off for 2 weeks now (she's a teacher) and it has been lovely having her around. I love school holidays!

I'd love to go to the horniman museum (such a brilliant name!), we'll arrange it for a few weeks time. Can't wait to meet some of you!

DKMA, have you tried a dummy? It's the only thing that has stopped William chewing on my norks all day!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 19/07/2007 11:04

Yep I did but he didn't seem interested - mind you I just kind of rammed it in his face - is there a special way to introduce a dummy?

annobal · 19/07/2007 11:08

Wow Foxy, very considerate of your DP. I think mine has caught a horrible disease so he doesn't have to go back to work! I'd love to do Hornimans - just let me know when you are ready and we'll be there.

DKMA - could you take him back to the Cranial Osteopath? Apparently they use suckling to get their heads to the right shape (or something like that) so it may help.

Charlie999 · 19/07/2007 11:08

Is this the book Annobal and foxy? Got a bid in - loads of them on e-bay!

Daisy - very of your sleep! DD was a nightmare last night and has now woken up in a bad mood and is now very smelly - better go and deal with the smell - even the dog has left the room

annobal · 19/07/2007 11:09

That's the one Charlie.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 19/07/2007 11:14

annobal - he is going once a week to the cranial osteo and she did suggest a dummy for that reason.
I was reluctant to try it at first as our latch on during bf wasn't great - but when I did try - he just wouldn't keep the dummy in his mouth.
Is there a dummy that is better to use if bf? one that is similar to a nip?

Charlie999 · 19/07/2007 11:15

Great - thanks

foxybrown · 19/07/2007 11:17

Hi DKMA! Sometimes I think if they are fed, winded, clean etc there's not a lot more you can do so have your shower.

DD is quite a windy one, and gets uncomfortable when I lay her down. I have to take great care to wind her which is a right PITA when I've been sat feeding her for half an hour, then another 20 mins of keeping her upright.

I found that walking fast helps them to settle in the pram.

Its a vicious circle, they cry because they are tired, they can't settle because they are so tired so they cry ....

Bloody hell, its not easy is it?

Charlie999 · 19/07/2007 11:19

DKMA - my sister ( who has 5 dc's) has always told me to use dummys with cherry teats as they are bigger and easier to keep in, but I'm FF so don't know if it's still relevant for you. Have you tried wiggling the teat on the roof of the mouth - that works with DD - she's very good at spitting it out though to get my attention

foxybrown · 19/07/2007 11:21

I'm off to DD1s Teddy Bears picnic at nursery

see you later x

annobal · 19/07/2007 11:30

DKMA - I've always used the Avent silicone ones but haven't tried one (yet) with Charlie. I know with T&G I did have to hold the dummy in for a while and it takes them a while to get the hang of it. I know with G I used to fall asleep with my arm in his moses basket holding the dummy in - not sure that is hv approved though...

BadZelda · 19/07/2007 11:52

Morning
My lovely friend has just come and kidnapped Ella until this afternoon, so it is just me and baby today...it's so QUIET! Question for mums...I had to go comfort a friend whose cat had been killed last night...so I pumped out 4 oz and left it with DH to do a feed. Got back at midnight to find everyone asleep and milk still in the fridge...she hadn't been fed for five hours. Was a bit shocked and woke her up for a feed / change only to find she was ravenous and her nappy was dry. Seems odd she didn't wake up herself to tell DH this though? Then she went back to bed at 1 and slept till 6.30 this morning...

I'm now quite worried. Have been enjoying her sleeping, but now concerned maybe I should be waking her up at night for feeds? Would that be crazy?

lilQuidditchKel · 19/07/2007 11:54

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

andiem · 19/07/2007 12:24

interested to hear you are all secret admirers of said book it is almost like admitting to eating children or something (am I allowed to say that aargh) I think she has some valid points to make but like others I think you can get too hung up on it especially the nap thing I want lo to be able to sleep anywhere john lewis carluccios hobbs............... maybe I should dust mine down from the loft

foxybrown · 19/07/2007 12:49

So you are in london too andiem? where abouts?

6 years on I still miss being suited and booted - but only because I'm sick of sensible shoes!

andiem · 19/07/2007 12:50

hi foxy I am in surbiton

andiem · 19/07/2007 12:51

love my shoes too have been looking longingly at my high heeled sandals but I'd feel such a tw*t weraing them pushing a pram

bumperlicious · 19/07/2007 13:03

FFS, do you think that one day I might actually be able to eat lunch without a background music of yelling. I wish she would learn how to keep the effing dummy in her mouth! It's not that she doesn't want it, just can't seem to keep it in! Arggghhh!

I would love to go to the horniman! I'll co-ordinate it with a visit to my mum in Surrey.

Arrggghhhh! Farkin dummy! Where's my duct tape...?

trendaverter · 19/07/2007 13:04

hey if there is a meet up in London I am game!!

bumperlicious · 19/07/2007 13:05

andiem, I got complimented on my shoes at bumps and babies today ("you are always wearing fab shoes!") I'm not going to let a little thing like a baby take me out of my shoes!
