Should i have made an appt then - thot they called u in.

daisyandbabybootoo · 17/07/2007 12:29

Jamantha, I think different authorities/GP practicies do things differently. I was sent an "appointment", but actually it's just an invitation to the baby clinic. My MW said that they don't routinely do six week checks for mums anymore, but if there was anything I needed to discuss I should make an appointment myself.

I'm a bit with them tbh as I have only seen my HV once when she came to the house when babyboo was 2 weeks old. She's not been back, and inspite of saying she would call me the following week, I've heard nothing. You would think that given I'm suffereing from depression and haven't been to any of her clinics she would at least have called.

God those threads about mozhe are still raging. The MN jury have decided she's a troll and are making merry with the nasty comments. It's things like this that depress me about this site sometimes. I think she's genuine, if a bit misguided. It seems a bit of an elaborate hoax to me, given she has been posting a consistent picture of her life since October. If she is genuine she must be horrified at what people are saying about her.

TALLULAHBELLE · 17/07/2007 12:31

my lo hates the chair - did yours always like it or just getting used to it now -J?

Charlie999 · 17/07/2007 12:45

I agree Daisy re Mozhe - I couldn't lie like that if I tried - I'd trip myself up somewhere.

I personally think that she's just on another planet compared to the rest of us that come on MN - lets face it IMO most people in her sort of position (job / money / life etc) would not normally be found on a site like this and just live their lives very differently to the way we would.

I read those threads and have to say I was at both her detachment of the situation as well as some of the things people have said about her.

Jamantha - my surgery sent me through 3 appointments for DDs 6 week check (tomorrow) - one with HV, one with doctor and one for my PN check - although I cancelled mine cos my GP is a pr**k - I shall see my lovely community MW for my check (in 3 weeks time) . I'm sure your HV will explain how things work where you are?

Daisy - I'm at your HV - will you be seeing her today? I would have to say something and make a point!

annobal · 17/07/2007 13:05

Afternoon lovely ladies, hope you are all well and had lovely restful nights ! We went to the cranial osteopath this morning. I guess I'll know in a few days if it has worked but so far so good, Charlie has fed and is now sleeping very peacefully.

Not sure about the situation with the hv here - I'm still seeing my midwife and will until 28 days are up. Then I have to say goodbye . She's lovely.

I'm now off to find out what Mozhe is all about.

Jamantha · 17/07/2007 13:07

Tallulahbelle, tried her in it a couple of times last week for a couple of mins a time and she didn't like it. Yesterday she was a bit unsure but tolerated it for 5 mins or so, today she seemed fairly happy in it for some time. Not sure she actually enjoyed it, but was a good step towards it.

derlor · 17/07/2007 13:22

hello
Daisy re your HV - make a complaint, that is shocking, phone and ask to speak to the HV team leader - there is no excuse for not being seen by a HV they are supposed to make contact 4-6 times during the 1st 6 weeks for you again!!! Especially when you have PND - i am . (wouldn't happen if you were mine )

for babies 6 week check you should automatically be sent an appointment from the health authority, for the mum it varies - some GP's don't bother their ass about checking you!!! - mine included i'm due a smear though so they can have a good rumage then!!

My LO LOVES her vibrating bouncer chair - it makes her smile, also we have one of those swingy graco chairs that was DS's many years ago - he loved that, DD1 hated it and DD2 seems to quite like it.
DS screamed like a banshee whenever put under a baby gym as does DD2 but DD1 loved her gym!!!! hey ho, trial and error - fussy wee beggers

annobal · 17/07/2007 13:31

DS3 also already loves the vibrating chair (can't say I blame him ). I also need to get a play mat as I gave the last one away. I feel a trip to bluewater coming on...

at Mozhe going away to St Barts. While I do understand the detatchment in a way (DS1 was no where near that early at 31 weeks but was still in hospital for 8 weeks and couldn't cuddle for 2 ) as I think I was a bit like that - just wanting to get through. However I was in the scbu as often as possible and would never have left the city, let alone the country...

bumperlicious · 17/07/2007 14:06

The grandmas are buying us a baby swing, this one. It's expensive (but they are paying!) but if we are going to have one stuck in our living room we want a nice one, plus you can plug your ipod into it! Hopefully it'll help her settle in the day and mean i can get some stuff done (or just stay on here all day!).

Off to the dr's this afternoon. Bfing counsellor today mentioned vasospasm as a possible reason for pain in my breasts. I've got an article to read so will have to see how we go. Managed to bf lying down for the first time today!

Btw foxy, you are very welcome - yet I still didn't get a picture of your norks you obviously love Holly more than the rest of us!

naturopath · 17/07/2007 14:25

Hello - sorry not keeping up with all this - am watching but not posting due to crying baby!

Just wanted to say that the "My Brest Friend" feeding cushion I ordered arrived today - it's amazing! Can now type, feed, hold a crying and/or sleeping baby, all around.. all at once! (he hates the sling, otherwise that prob would have done the same job).

Have just worked out how to add photos top profile

Jamantha · 17/07/2007 14:30

but not, it seems, how to spell "to"

Charlie999 · 17/07/2007 14:40

Jamantha - what a sweetie your DD is . Lovely pics.

What sort of science do you do (I am as well!)?

Jamantha · 17/07/2007 14:54

I work for the Health Protection Agency, looking at the effects of radiation

daisyandbabybootoo · 17/07/2007 15:00

what a bloody waste of my time that was. got a letter saying come to the clinic for 6 wk check.

when i got there receptionist said she wasn't even registered. no-one told me i had to do that myself...presumed it was automatic.

annyhoo sat around for 20 mins, then called in to see hv. there were two there, mine and another one and mine didn't even recognise me . weighed, measured, head cirumf done, talked about how sge was doing etc. told i'd need to wait to see the doc but they couldn't tell me when as they just slot the babies in between appointments! when i explained i'd to go and get ds from school, she went iff to check and said come back at 3:50.

so, i've had to come home for 20 mins, then will need to go get ds, come back here for 10 mins then go out again. it was too soon for me to go straight to school, and if we go straight to docs after school it'll be too eary again. what a bloody waste of an afternoon and babyboo screamed the whole time and had a hissy fit when i tried to feed her in the surgery as we couldn't get comfy and she kept letting go. But, she's now 9lbs 6ozs so piling it on!

sorry for the rant.

Jamantha she's gorgeous

Charlie999 · 17/07/2007 15:00

Sounds interesting! I work in a hosp lab.

Enough about work - I'm enjoying my mat leave - I am beginning to understand why mums don't want to go back to work though - unfortunately, I have no choice!

My DD has been in her vibrating chair asleep since 1pm - I'm getting through so many batteries! Hope yours gets used to her chair.

daisyandbabybootoo · 17/07/2007 15:03

and its pissing with rain

daisyandbabybootoo · 17/07/2007 16:32

Did my rant scare everyone away?

Come Back, I promise I won't shout any more

foxybrown · 17/07/2007 16:39

Is it safe to come out now?

Just got back from the school run - decided it was time for DD2 to meet her public, after keeping them waiting for so long. Kept her in her sling though, so no cuddles for anyone else! Someone did kiss her on her face though and left dribble - eurgh!!!

Sorry to hear about your crappy afternoon Daisy. What a waste! Last thing you need. But good news about Babyboo, you are obviously doing a fine job!

MW came and weighed DD today - she's only lost 50g since birth, little porker.

at 3 weeks until my trotters turn into feet again! Even the MW stared!

I miss chocolate!

annobal · 17/07/2007 16:43

Am for you Daisy! I sometimes think these people think the world revolves around them and they have no idea about how to deal with a new mother, let alone one with an older sibling and PND. Bloody hell!

Sorry I haven't responded to your email yet Daisy, every time I get to the laptop, DH whips it off me.

I've just made a pasta sauce for T&G for dinner and a apple crumble and then rang DH to find out where they are - bloody pizza express!! Sauce will last till tomorrow I guess... The apple crumble may have to be eaten

Jamantha your LO is gorgeous.

annobal · 17/07/2007 16:46

I also did the school run this morning Foxy - it is really lovely to have everyone cooing over Charlie (who, btw, is still fast asleep). Yuck on the dribble front though...

daisyandbabybootoo · 17/07/2007 16:46

It got worse, we got caught in a hoooooge thunderstorm and had to wait it out in the doctors till the rain had gone off enough. Still got soaked going 20 feet to the car and strapping in the DCs. There was a flash flood as well with half the main road under water!

And I hung washing out this morning.

Can this day get any worse!

Babyboo performed well though and gave the doctor a big cheesy grin!

loonylovegood · 17/07/2007 16:55

Bloody hell daisy, what a shit day! Sit down, have a glass of wine and have a good laugh about it! Sometimes it's the only thing you can do!

I just went to town to spend some money and bought nothing! I find it really difficult to spend money on myself these days and also there was a load of shit in the shops!

OP posts:
annobal · 17/07/2007 16:57

Wine without guilt - MW told me that it helps the baby sleep. Don't care if it's not true . Think you deserve a large one Daisy

foxybrown · 17/07/2007 17:05

wine? we can drink again?

YYYIIIIIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
