whats Dirt?

loonylovegood · 16/07/2007 21:21

Omg! Is anyone watching fight for life? A 2yo was getting off a train and fell down the gap! I am going to have nightmares about that now. The poor little mite is so upset!

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 21:28

i hope bumper isn't watching fight for life....she has a thing about trains!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 16/07/2007 21:31

hi
About to loose the plot here.
Lo has screamed non stop all day - only stopping to feed - only giving my nips half an hour off at a time! Rang the NCT bf lady and she thinks he might have reflux - so am taking him to the GP to check it out tomorrow.

DELOR - Skiing - We go every year - but don't know how we'll manage with the lo. The place we go every year have great nannys but it's so expensive for just 1 baby! Maybe we should club together?

bumperlicious · 16/07/2007 21:33

Hi dm1, hope you are doing ok. we are in varying stages of madness on this thread!

Thanks for the info on the thrush - would explain a lot, pain in nips when not feeding - even if we have had a good latch. On that link it also suggests that gassiness in the gut can be a symptom in the baby.

Should I see the dr or wait till I see the HV on weds? My dr's are really funny about appointments (i'll be lucky if I get one before the end of the week) should I demand an appointment tomorrow?

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 21:35

oh dkma sorry things aren't too great. whatever is going on with him could be combined with a bit of a growth spurt...babyboo had one at about 3 weeks. if he does need to feed lots and has reflux, it would make him miserable.

I hope you can get some rest tonight. can dh take him for a bit and let you get some rest?

bumperlicious · 16/07/2007 21:37

ooh, no daisy I saw the trailer for this one last week and decided against it. What's going on with the trains or do I not want to know?!

Btw, I did have thrush about a week before a gave birth she could have got it from that.

DKMA, hang in there! You will have up days and down days, just try and give yourself a break every know and again. We are here for you to vent!

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 21:38

bumper, if you do see the doc, make sure you get the fluconazole tablets. My mw told me that they aren't indicated for bf in the big drug book docs consult, but that they are recommended by the NCT i their guidelones for the treatment of thrush.....

lilQuidditchKel · 16/07/2007 21:39

Annobal fwiw, I absolutely love my BT digital plus monitor. Best money I spent! So clear, long battery life, easy to use, even the lullabies are quite nice! You can get them on Ebay...

((HUGS)) to the rest of you. I'm so tired I can't even keep typing!

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 21:39

....a little boy fell down the gap between the train and platform....

I switched over to watch Dirt, but missed the start so I'm a bit lost.

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 21:41

babyboo sleeping again and that should be her till 12:30 ish.....I'm off to bed.

G'night all.

bumperlicious · 16/07/2007 21:42

daisy! Don't think I could ever take DD on a train myself! Thanks for the thrush advice. Right, off to have a bath with DD. Night ladies, DKMA, hope your visit to the doctor goes ok, hope you all get some sleep xxx

Jamantha · 16/07/2007 22:34

I'm shattered! Charlotte has been unsettled all day, and was overheated and crying pretty non-stop from about mid afternoon til 7.30, and not wanting any food. Ended up seeking advice and taking her to local emergency doctors, who couldn't find anything specifically wrong so came home with instructions to ring them if she gets any worse. She's eaten now (and brought half of back up) and is just about asleep, but I've got a feeling it's going to be a long night.

(Sorry for double posting this on the June and July threads, but feeling so fed up at the moment I really needed to share this one)

Jamantha · 16/07/2007 22:35

(Oh and we are now the proud owners of an in-the-ear thermometer)

daisyandbabybootoo · 17/07/2007 05:16

I hope your LO is OK Jamantha, and that you managed to get some sleep.

Babyboo isn't settling after her feed, which is why I'm up so bloody early.

daisyandbabybootoo · 17/07/2007 07:20

Bloody hell, apart from getting MMR dressed for school, we are ready and good to go. I've even made a pcnic lunch for him and one other child for their teddy bears' picnic this afternoon and done the washing up from yesterday. There is something to be said for gettng up at 5:00am, but I'll be ready for a snooze by about 11:00 I reckon!

daisyandbabybootoo · 17/07/2007 07:21

oops, I did it too foxy....I mean MRR

Jamantha · 17/07/2007 09:16

Well, her temperature has come down, feels much more normal now, and she seems to have tired herself out yesterday as well as me, because she slept from 9-2 then 2.30-4 and 4.30-7.15 and has been asleep again since 7.45. So I got better sleep than normal, because everytime she woke for a feed she went back to sleep afterwards, with no faffing around getting her settled. So big reliedf - I started yesterday tea time just ringing NHS direct for advice about her temperature, as at that point we didn't have a thermometer, just knew she felt very hot to the touch, and wondered how seriously we should take that. Then within a couple of phone calls we were being told to take her to the emergency doc. I'm glad they didn't treat me as an over-anxious mother, in fact when they sent us back home they said we should have a low threshold for when to call them back if things got worse. But thankfully didn't have to

andiem · 17/07/2007 09:29

Charlie999 · 17/07/2007 09:32

Morning All,

Jamantha - glad you got your LO sorted and that she has slept better. I bought one of those thermometers when my DD was about a week old as she was constantly really hot and red all over and developed a mammoth heat rash (still has it as well!). I went out in a panic and bought a thermometer as I also had no idea how hot she was - and it helped reassure me. Now I generally trust my instinct when I feel her neck and tummy.

Now she is 6 weeks, her skin is a normal colour (has inherited my pale skin) and most days just wears a vest only.

Last night I put her in a babygro as she is about to grow out of the newborn size (and I'd bought loads of them - never to be worn) and she looked very over-dressed!

Dd had a good night last night and slept from 7pm after a bath and feed to 3am! Then 3.35am - 7.30am. A whole evening to ourselves watching tele and not being interupted . Does anyone else find their LOs sleep a lot better after a bath?

Hope those going to GP today (DKMA, Bumper) goes well today.

RedFraggle - how are things today? Did you get some sleep last night?

Daisy - you asleep on the sofa yet? Hope so - can't be doing with getting up at 5am!

sorry long post

NOTE TO ALL

Sorry but this is probably not part of your discussion and I have just started on Mumsnet but there is a very important e-petition that has been started and all mums must see it at:

petitions.pm.gov.uk/EUCRAS

It's aim is to set up an EU child rescue alert system to help if a child is abducted.

Please sign it and pass it on. We need as many signatures as possible. Please note that the e- petitions site is going through some hic ups and may not register your signature straight away so please keep trying it until it does so sucessfully.

Thank you.

I'm glad she's feeling better Jamantha.

I wish I could say the same for me....feeling like I'm gonna puke, and so, so tired

I really struggle to get babyboo back to sleep after a feed and its usually over an hour from wake up to back to sleep. she didn't do too bbdly last night though, sleeping from 9 till 2, the 3 till 5...now if she would just do those 6 hours from 11 till 5 my life would be so much easier.

dm1 · 17/07/2007 09:45

On a monitor note - we've also got the BT Digital plus although why, I don't know as the walls in our house are so thin you can hear her breathe from a mile away - ah well spending money on safety things makes me feel like I'm being a good mum!
Anyhow, can't compare it but also can't complain - I love the talk back facility - when I'm upstairs I can tell dh to bring me cup of tea, he can ask me what type, etc.......endless hours of fun in our house......
Think we're going to get an in-ear therm -jamantha, glad your lo is a bit better.
Thanks for the welcomes - 4 kids Foxy, are you sure?

loonylovegood · 17/07/2007 09:56

My home phone has a baby monitor in it, though how it works is completely beyond me!

GO BACK TO BED DAISY!!!
