dd up once then again at 5:00 so we stayed up. i tried to feed her lying down but not very successful, although she did settle very quickly after the first feed. need to practice a bit more.

school run time..back in a bit!

derlor · 16/07/2007 15:08

just found that thread Holly is that woman real?

derlor · 16/07/2007 15:10

why the struggle with lying down to feed Daisy - can you just not get comfy? or are your nips too pert?

loonylovegood · 16/07/2007 15:29

I love feeding lying down! It may just be due to the fact that I'm a lazy cow ! I find the best position is on my side with ds's head on my arm, that way it is easier to hold his head in position.

He is still really yellow. I've had him checked by the dr, but surely he should be back to normal by now!

I would never leave my babies to go on holiday! Well I left my dd to go to dubai, but that was for 3 days and she was nearly 2 and not poorly! I don't understand!

i love feeding lying down too - keeps the other 2 off my back as i clearly can't get them a drink etc when i'm lying down. i lie with a pillow at Abbie's back to keep her in position while i stretch out resting my weary head on a pillow with my arm above my head IYSWIM?? hard to explain but comfy none the less!!
You been to see HP yet Holly? DS and DH enjoyed it but said it not as funny as the other ones.

derlor · 16/07/2007 15:43

i am having a real dilema about leaving Abbie next March while we go off skiing - she'll be 9 months and i'm not sure how i feel about leaving her behind?!?!
DH says we should just take her but she'll be stuck in a nursery all day just so i can feed morning and night - i could just express loads and store it, or give her formula for a week, then take pump with me, leaving her in the safe hands of GP's?
DH likes the idea of leaving DD1 behind as well to keep her company - LOL
Skiing with just DS would be FAB as he is a great wee skiier so we could all just chill out
maybe we chould just take a private nanny with us and fly 1st class then get chauffered (sp?) up the mountain to our private chalet - yeah right!!!!!!

derlor · 16/07/2007 15:47

Holly i would have thought Will's jaundice should have gone by now - this is really informative, but i suppose if your GP is not concerned then it should be OK????

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 15:54

nipples too pert.....I wish

I just didn't feel like she was properly latched on and she kept letting go. Like I said, I just need more practice.

When you sleep with DCs in bed with you, do you have them under the bedclothes or on top? I've had babyboo on top of the duvet and put a pillow under the duvet at the edge of the bed to stop her from rolling, but I'm worried she'll suffocate or something. Not tried co-sleeping yet with Dh in the bed as its only a double and might be a bit cramped with the three of us in. It's fine through the week as no DH, and at weekends he's been mostly on the sofa , but I can't banish him there indefinately, can I?

Derlor....you should go with the older DCs and leave DH at home with Abbie and the au pair. Then DH and the au pair can go off together when you're back, LOL.

derlor · 16/07/2007 15:59

Great idea Daisy re my DH and the au pair, bet DH would go for that!!!
i don't co sleep Daisy so can't help you, i just lie down and feed during the day when i can. when do your LO's finish school down there - ours been off for 2 weeks already.

derlor · 16/07/2007 16:01

Au farking pair indeed, she is in the shop with the cleaner, cook and butler - oh no actually THEY ARE ALL ME!!!!!!!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 16:16

LOL Derlor.....

Friday is last day of term here, then they go back on 4th September I think. Yay...only four more days of having to make an effort in the morning!

Is anyone going away over the summer?
we're going to Staithes on the east coast for a week.....how very exotic, I know ....i just hope it stops raining as being stuck in a cottage with no garden in a tiny village in the pissing rain for a week could be disastrous.

Jamantha · 16/07/2007 16:35

Am beginning to despair. LO has not settled for more than 20 mins unless she's in my arms today. At the moment she's in her bouncy chair - about the first time she's taken to it, which is wonderful as I can put her down for a bit and she can look around the room, which she can't do really from the moses basket. Not sure how long it will last though. Not really used to her being awake (for more than about 5 minutes) between feeds, apart from when she's got wind of course - happened for the first time last night.

Jamantha · 16/07/2007 16:37

Tried the baby gym earlier, thinking it would give her something to look at, but she wasn't too impressed and started crying after a few mins. She's not really able to play with the bits yet, and me shaking the giraffe to make him rattle obviously has limited appeal.

Charlie999 · 16/07/2007 17:03

Hi Jamantha

I've had a day like that with DD as well - unsettled! She has only cat-napped all day inbetween whinging.

My DD is 6 weeks now and loves her vibrating chair and is now beginning to respond to toys with lights and music. Its taken a few weeks, but she is now smiling (if she's in a good mood!) when I play with her.

She also doesn't spend long on her play gym - but I put her on her tummy until shes had enough and then on her back for a while. I have noticed she is spending longer each day before she gets fed up - so you will get there - all your efforts will be worthwhile

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 17:05

Jamantha...DS hated the baby gym with a vengeance, to the point that we haven't bothered with one for DD.

If DD needs entertaining I lie her beside some cushions I bought in IKEA which are white with scribbled black flowers all over and some embroidery...keeps her quiet for ages. Either that or DS keeps her amused, but that's not much used to you I suppose

foxybrown · 16/07/2007 18:11

Hi everyone. hope you are all ok. Seems like a real up/down day today.

Sorry to hear that things aren't too easy - it all gets a bit much some days doesn't it?

Does anyone have a book on How to Be A Better Wife? Seems that 3 days after giving birth one is meant to applaud and apprectiate one's other half for the fantastic job they are doing.

Or they crack the shits at you.

bumperlicious · 16/07/2007 18:33

Men! They only have to hold the little ones in the presence of company for a few minutes or change a nappy for everyone to extol the what a good dad he is, very hands on. What about us mums?!

We went to see dh at work today and spent the afternoon in the town there. It's a 45 minute drive but we managed it ok. Building up to visiting my mum who lives 2.5 hours away. God I'm knackered though.

I really can't get this bfing lying down. The only way I can do it is with me flat on my back and dd moving herself to find the nipple herself (a mini breast crawl - amazing!) she then falls asleep lolled across my chest, still not making the night time feeds any better.

I've realised that part of my sore nips problem is my let down. I hadn't realised before but saw it in action today, milk coming out and the feeling of needle passing through my nipples! Don't think that's the entire problem, the latch is still up and down, but it explains some of it. Am I stuck with a painful let down forever? Or will it settle down?

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 18:35

a fantastic job they're doing....

I would've done that for DH, if I could have seen him through the sleep deprived double vision

annobal · 16/07/2007 18:39

Hello lovely ladies . Hope you're all okay. I'm currently watching sex in the city while Dh baths T&G - I'm waiting for Charlie to wake up to feed him. I think this time next week will be a whole different story so I am reeping it this week .

Did you find your shoes Daisy? Foxy, how are you getting on?

Poor Charlie has the beginnings of thrush in his mouth. I'm trying Green Essence which is meant to be really good. Think it might also be on my nipples (sorry, tmi) as they are really sore . Anyone have any experience?

daisyandbabybootoo · 16/07/2007 18:47

Hi annobal....no I didn't find and sandals yet....I need to go into town, but it seems like too much of an effort.

Ouch on the thrush...sounds painful. You need to talk to Derlor; I'm pretty sure she had it quite early on. AFAIK you need cream for your nips, ointment for bubba's mouth and tablets for you too.

bumperlicious · 16/07/2007 19:20

annobal I've been watching satc too and am worrying that I am going to scar poor dd with it! With that and my inability to curb my language this baby's first word is inevitably going to be 'fuck'!

derlor · 16/07/2007 19:21

evening, yes it was me with the thrush - ooowwwcchhhh
i got dactarin gel and canesten cream for my nips and also used dactarin gel on LO's mouth, also i took a Fluconazole tablet as well. I was in such horrendous pain i just tried everything at once!!! - felt improvement after 48 hours. it is ESSENTIAL both of you get treated or it will just keep passing back and forward.
Foxy at your DH or is he back to TH!!?
Bumper - yes the needle sensation DOES go....eventually (i'm still getting it slightly 5 weeks on)

annobal · 16/07/2007 19:22

lol - that and 'dick' - ooh i just saw richard's penis (samantha's client in series 4) must go rewind...

derlor · 16/07/2007 19:24

annobal take your tv off pause and come back here!

annobal · 16/07/2007 19:24

x post - last msg aimed at bumper...

thanks derlor - i might have to see the dr tomorrow if the green essence hasn't made a difference (have heard the results can be within 24 hours) - or can I get that over the counter?
