I honestly think weaning is whatever works for you / your child best. I’m a total advocate of BLW because it worked well for us (despite the huge anxiety my husband had / has re choking) and my 3 year old has always been a brilliant eater, and I do put a lot of that down to not having to ‘reintroduce’ what food ‘looks like’ at a later stage. That’s just me tho. It could be entire coincidence and this one will just want to live on banana 😂

And yep 3 yo going through a massive regression - in our bed from 2am again last night. Ffs!

lanalawr · 06/06/2019 11:27

We did a mixture last time and it worked quite well. Went through a lot of spoons though! One for each little hand and one for the adult. 😆 I'll probably do the same this time if I've got time to blitz things. Purées were pretty easy - I just cooked a bit extra veg when I made our tea then blitzed it up. I didn't really go in for strange combinations in a purée though and dd often had similar food to us because I adapted some of our recipes anyway. I expect I'll have less of a freezer stash this time just because I'll have less time. I'd like a little one though because I found it handy to just defrost an ice cube or two of something I knew was baby friendly when we wanted something more adult.

I have booked a baby led weaning course and the health visitor has also booked me on a weaning course. Ive started looking at recipies and ideas and reading books etc

Baby is deffiantly interested in food as she will cry for it and for me to share. But only 4m and not sitting unaided yet so we have a few months to go before I attempt it. We go on our first little family holiday the 2 of us the 2wks after she turns 6m so wont be attempting until then.

Just hoping our appointment for allergy testing comes soon as be a huge help.

A family member has given me their triptrapp so im going to use that. I like idea of eating at table. Try to at least contain some food from the dog 😂

Anyone whos got an older child. Can anyone reccomend a way of tracking salt levels? I know its unavoidable as in everything bread etc. But baby M has kidney issues so going to be super strict on salt levels. As it scares me.

At 13 weeks and 4 days old I have a roller 🙌🏼🙌🏼

He’s been rolling from belly to back for a while now, but today he’s mastered going from back to front by himself 😍

Yakadee · 06/06/2019 16:23

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking - oh wow! Emma is 18 weeks and nothing at all yet x

Celebelly · 06/06/2019 16:29

My Emma doesn't care for rolling but she's obsessed with sitting and standing!

It's terrifying!

Reuben likes trying to stand.. but is a while off mastering that thankfully! 😂

He was so pleased with himself but is now refusing to be on his back at all, he gets so angry! 💙

maxiflump1 · 06/06/2019 17:38

Wow all these babies rolling and standing! Max is such a chunk he's not rolled; it a lot of weight to shift! Although is getting pretty good at sitting up. Loves the jumperoo though!

Emma looking very pleased with a spoon! I'll have to get the jumperoo back out - I bet she'll love it now! X

@Celebelly. Wow! How many weeks is Emma? Anna is 16 weeks and nowhere near that stage yet. She isn’t even rolling at the moment. The most she will do is back to side. She also tries to sit herself up but she can’t quite manage and gets really frustrated!

bubblybrit · 06/06/2019 21:14

Loving all the cute baby pictures. Anna looks so small in comparison. Hope she catches up soon!

Celebelly · 06/06/2019 21:28

She'll be 17 weeks on Sat. She's super nosey so she hates lying down and always wants to be sitting or standing to see what's going on 😂 But zero interest in rolling when she is lying down, quite content just to lie there like a sack of spuds!

Celebelly · 06/06/2019 21:31

@Yakadee She is so cute! I love a chubby baby. My Emma has gone up to over 75th percentile after starting at 50th and I love her little fat rolls and creases. She was 15lb 8 today when weighed before her jabs.

bubblybrit · 06/06/2019 22:17

@Celebelly. I can’t believe she is standing like that at 17 weeks! Amazing 😀!

sunday38 · 06/06/2019 22:34

Some very cute pictures! Ro is more a long and slim type but filling out a bit more recently. I love the way their wrists start to disappear under a roll of fat! And the mid arm folds.

So what age can they go in the jumperoo from?

Yakadee · 06/06/2019 22:34

@Celebelly - I know, she's the happiest little chunk! She was 18lbs about 3/4 weeks ago so not sure what she'll be now. She's not greedy though so it's just her. X

Yakadee · 07/06/2019 06:22

@sunday38 - was just looking it up and Internet suggests from 3/4 months, however it's all to with head support etc. I'm going to dig mine out as my lo is doing well with that and I think she'll like it.

What can I do about this? Emma has been waking herself up as keeps getting her arm caught (sometimes banging her head!) in the cot. I know you can't use bumpers etc, but is there a safe way to help her from hurting herself? X

detachablehoof · 07/06/2019 14:23

@yakadee I'm pretty sure I've seen breathable cot bumpers for sale in John Lewis? Might be worth looking into.

We had a horrible scare last night. Baby only had quarter of her bedtime bottle and then started screaming uncontrollably. After 25 minutes of trying to console her we called 111. She had no other symptoms so they told us to try Calpol and referred us to out of hours GP. She had the medicine and then calmed down after about another 20 mins and went to sleep. She had more of her bottle while asleep and then woke up 30 mins later absolutely fine. Seriously hoping it was just a one off, it scared us silly. She's never really screamed before and certainly not for any more than a minute! It felt like an eternity.

I have been wondering if she has some kind of reflux or intolerance problem. she's been more fussy with the bottles recently and also more sick and sometimes crying halfway through her bottle or refusing to have it. Any tips on what to do? Don't want to waste GP time but haven't found my HV any help in the past. The symptoms seem to come and go and are usually worst when she's tired so might just be a fussy phase!

Notquiteagandt · 07/06/2019 15:52

@detachablehoof M has started doing this alot the last 2 weeks randomly. Its a developmental stage apparently. Finding their voice more and discovering they can scream. She will scream hysterically whilst smiling. Scares me each time but shell be laughing a few mins later.

She was screaming that loud a neighbor asked me if she was ok 🙈

Has anyone else now got to the stage they cant eat at same time as feeding baby as they will try grab food off you 🤣 my little piglet is making it hard for me to eat.

Also re:breathable bumpers its more the straps that tie them on isnt it thats the issue with bumpers?

sunday38 · 07/06/2019 16:36

yakadee if you find a way of stopping nighttime fidgeting I'd love to know, I keep finding him sideways in his crib like this picture! I know bumpers are a hazard because of the ties but I don't understand why bumpers are frowned upon for not being breathable either yet my next-to-me crib has thick fabric sides which aren't breathable.

Keep an eye on it detachable and don't be afraid to see GP if fussy feeding carries on or if you have any problems with poos. I actually had very similar with Ro yesterday for 3 hours and rang the GP but he calmed down eventually. Feel a bit silly now as I think it might have been bad teething pain! Although I'm finding it hard to tell as he's got reflux and milk protein allergy.

Yakadee · 07/06/2019 20:17

Thanks @detachablehoof - I'll have a look. I'll let you know if I find anything @sunday38 x

Since2016 · 09/06/2019 07:26

We used airwrap bumpers for DD once she was in a cot. Velcro seals and breathable fabric.

Yakadee · 09/06/2019 14:21

@Since2016 - thanks, I'll have a look x
