LO's harness (for hip dysplasia) has come off and she has just slept for three whole hours!

Yakadee · 30/04/2019 07:49

@Notquiteagandt - we've got ours tomorrow. The nurse told me these ones don't make them ill (I asked as we're away at the weekend) x

maxiflump1 · 30/04/2019 08:19

@Yakadee our jabs are tomorrow as well. Really hoping they're not as bad as last time especially as he's sleeping so well at the moment!

Yakadee · 30/04/2019 09:07

@maxiflump1 - mine too! Just my 3yo I need to sort now. He's been crying every night at bedtime. He's never done it before, I think the move has been hard on him x

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/04/2019 09:25

Yes to threenager, DS1 is 3.4 and has been so naughty on and off for months now. His behaviour this last week was worse than ever but weirdly yesterday and (so far) today he's been so good to the point it's unsettling! Almost like he's been through the longest "leap" ever and finally out the other side. I'll enjoy it while it lasts!

DS2 has slept for at least 8 hours for the last four nights, it's AMAZING!

His daytime sleep on the other hand isn't good, he sleeps in the car seat/pram but I can't get him to sleep on me much any more, or in his crib, for love nor money.

Evenings are also really tough, he'll maybe have a little cat nap 6-7pm ish if we take him for a walk or rock him in the car seat, but other than that he's wide awake and really angry/crying a lot. It's not hunger so it can only be tiredness. We're starting his night time routine at 8:30pm and I don't want to move it earlier until he's sleeping longer (he's sleeping from 9:15-9:30pm ish for 8 hours so sleeping through, so don't want to create a night feed again for the sake of it).

Anyone know when the "witching hour" is supposed to end? DS1 didn't have it to this degree or for this long, as I remember when he was 8 weeks or so we took him to a pub one evening, and out for a meal in his pram! And he was good as gold. Not that I want to do that with DS2, but it would be nice to be able to watch TV for just an hour as we're not able to do that right now with his crying/trying to settle him. He's 9 weeks.

@Notquiteagandt my baby hates Aldi too , doesn't help when they're throwing your shopping at you at the end of the till 🙈 soon as we walk out the door she's fine though .....!

AmberRose17 · 30/04/2019 09:42

@yakadee @lookingforadvice another threenager here. He’ll be 3 1/2 in May and the attitude on that kid is terrifying. Hands on hips and shouts (in his south London accent) “Well, mumMEE I wan’ chocolate and I’M in CHARGE”. Shock

I have been trying to remember that he’s only 3 and not to take the attitude on face value. He’s very tall and very eloquent and it’s hard not to fall into the trap of thinking he is more sophisticated/manipulative than he actually is.

He has been delightful with baby O but is obviously jealous of O feeding and generally taking my attention. Also jealous of baby in the sling so yesterday I had baby in the sling on my front and threenager in a sling on my back to go to the shops. 💪

bubblybrit · 30/04/2019 11:16

For those of you approaching 12 weeks jabs....did you book them yourself or did your GP surgery contact you? If the latter then when did you receive notification of your appointment?

My HV advised that GP surgery would issue letter with appointment times in advance of each set of jabs. DD is 11 weeks today and no letter as of yet. Not sure if I should be calling the surgery?

maxiflump1 · 30/04/2019 14:55

@bubblybrit I had a letter from my NHS trust advising me that they were due and to ring the surgery to book them.

We are also having issues with 4 year old DS's behaviour. He can be so rude answering back all the time. I think we forget how much of a huge change it is for them adapting to not being the sole focus of our attention. Am hoping it passes as it's not much fun at the mo...

Since2016 · 30/04/2019 15:00

12 week jabs on thurs. other than a 15 min screaming session you’d really not know she had the first lot... hope these are the same! No witching hour here either - just cluster feeding. Too good to be true surely...

Just had a chat about a potential job which closes next week. It would be (a lot) more money, v close to home (15 min drive vs 90-2.5 hour commute on tube and train) and completely aligned to my skill set. BUT if (big if) I were to get it it would without a doubt mean going back a lot earlier than a year. Totally getting ahead of myself but feeling super sad about it. It’s a no brainer but I hadn’t envisaged being off less than a year 😣

Notquiteagandt · 30/04/2019 16:51

So we had our vaccination. Baby m promptly projectile vomited in my face. Its a live vaccine. Been warned i could potentially get ill now. Just what I need with an off colour baby.

But not as bad at 8wk one only 1 needle this time and no meningitus which is worse for making them feel icky afterwards.

Our drs write let you know its due then have a drop in clinic twice a week. Which is handy if you need to delay etc

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/04/2019 18:03

How many needles is it for the first jabs?

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/04/2019 18:07

AmberRose17 my DS1 sounds identical. Very articulate, his speech scored the same as a 4 year old at his 3 year HV check and his understanding of everything is so good. So I genuinely forget he's only 3 and find myself arguing with him and getting frustrated. Must stop.

Notquiteagandt · 30/04/2019 19:06

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking it is 3 menibgitus, 6 in 1 and pnumonia as well as rotavirus oral syrup.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/04/2019 20:07

@Notquiteagandt

Thanks, so it’s just two needles?

Notquiteagandt · 30/04/2019 20:10

No three needles and an oral medicine.

Then calpol straight after.

Good luck 😁

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/04/2019 20:12

Oh no, sorry.. I’ve read that wrong, it’s three isn’t it?

All in upper leg? 😬

God I hate needles 😭😭

Celebelly · 30/04/2019 20:32

We had Calpol before, which worked out well as she was too upset for a while after and I just had her on my boob to calm her down, so then she fell asleep Grin

Yakadee · 01/05/2019 07:04

@AmberRose17 wow, it's almost funny but not! Ha. I get 'no mum' all the time, even when I haven't said anything / looked at him / been near him! X

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 01/05/2019 14:01

Eight week vaccinations done! 😭🙌🏼

I thought they were meant to decrease a babies appetite though??

He’s just had 11.5 ounces in the last half hour! 😩

Yakadee · 01/05/2019 17:26

We've had jabs today (well, one) too. She cried her eyes out bless her x

bubblybrit · 01/05/2019 18:26

Thanks @maxiflump1 & @Notquiteagandt. I called the surgery just to check. They advised that there has to be precisely 4 weeks plus between jabs so the earliest she can have them is 12th May. I am to expect a letter to confirm the appointment later this week. Will mean she is going to be 13 weeks at the 12 week jabs but surgery didn’t seem concerned.

bubblybrit · 01/05/2019 19:43

Has anyone got any experience of using Carobel to help with silent reflux? I described over the phone how baby A was extremely fussy after feeds, had wet burps, spit up etc and HV seemed to suggest silent reflux. She wants me to try Carobel for one week before reviewing the situation. If baby A isn’t any better then need to make an appointment with the GP to prescribe meds. Just wondering if this is something that has worked for others?

Celebelly · 01/05/2019 19:51

We tried it but I found it a bit of a faff and kept clogging up our bottles! We have very slow flow teats to mimic breastfeeding though for when she has expressed milk so that's probably the issue. I didn't really persevere with it but it didn't make much difference the couple of days I tried it.

Her reflux problem is really just a laundry issue as it isn't affecting her weight gain or making her unhappy so GP suggested just to leave it unless she's distressed or isn't gaining weight.

Notquiteagandt · 01/05/2019 20:44

We see the paedtrician for reflux next week. Has anyone any experience of this?

No weight issues as shes following her curve nicely all be it the 0.4% bottom line. Still a dinky 8lb14 at 13wks nearly.

I have a feeling they might suggest carobel or something simular so also kean to hear about it.

This reflux is a massive contributing factor in my post natal anixity I think. Breaking my heart seeing her like this.

Currently trapped under sleeping baby whos screamed all day if i put her down. These needles once again really not agreed with her 😢
