Lee Valley Odeon at 11 to see Mr Bean, Somewhere in the forest for a beetles bugs and butterflies event at 2 (not sure where exactly but no good for you as dd is too little (over 4s) and I booked the last 6 childrens place)
I'm free tomorrow afternoon and probably all day Friday though.

mrm - I agree you must need the sleep.

Really should go and get dressed as my friends will be here soon and the house is a tip.

Jas · 25/07/2007 08:49

Add a job and a toddler to that mix Chloe and it is no wonder you are tired!

Maybe we should all try going to bed when the children do for a bit. I know I would feel better for it.

Chloe55 · 25/07/2007 08:59

I'm actually getting to the point that if I don't have an afternoon kip (even if it's just 20mins) thn I can't make it past 8pm - if I knew for definite I wasn't preggers then I would most definitely think I was!

Phoenix · 25/07/2007 09:00

Eeewwwwww eeewwwwww eeewwwww I feel sick!!!!

I forget to empty ds wasted milk last night before i went to bed and i've just done it and it was solid

Then i've rinsed the bottle out that he's had this morning and it looked weird so i smelt it I've fed my son off milk well actually dh got him his milk before he went up to bed (he's on nights) The date on the milk is 28th though so its gone very off 3 days early.

Thanks for email csws i'll have a play around with the sat nav later but i think it does work on just postcode but i'll print all that off in case we get lost

Its my day off work today nothing planned as its chucking it down

Its dh's birthday today but he was on nights last night and again tonight so we're not doing anything for that and at the weekend he's going bowling with his workmates.

2boysmacca · 25/07/2007 09:07

We're going to go into town, get ds's haircut, have a coffee then head over to feed the ducks (quick stop off at pet shop to buy duck feed). If we have time, we'll have a run in the park but I fear ds2 will be knackered as he was up early, again, this morning.

We're off to a picnic concert at the weekend, T'Pau, Banarama, Midge Ure, Limahl. Oh I can't wait, hope the weather stays fine

I have to have a rest int he afternoon too Chloe, once ds2 is in bed and I have tidied and prepared the dinner, I need to just lie down for 10 mins. I have mastered the art of sleeping with my eyes open. I'm fully aware of what's going on in the background but I'm still resting.

Phoenix · 25/07/2007 11:24

aaarrrggghhh I'm living in teletubbie hell. Everytime one finishes he wants another on. At least he's quiet though

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/07/2007 13:20

Say no. Brave the tantrum (by ignoring him) and have another activity planned for once he's calmed down.

I still don't get how people 'go for coffee' with a toddler.

I'd be a nightmare if I went to bed when dd does Jas. I'd struggle to get to sleep, would resent that I'd had no 'me' time all day, and then be awake stupidly early the next morning.

We seemed to just potter about the house this morning, then went into town for a handful of bits, which I braved doing without the pushchair. Stopped in at the pet shop for dd to 'oooh' and 'wow' at the fish/birds/rabbits, and was planning to get home, have lunch, then put her down for a nap, but she fell asleep in the car on the way back, so is still there now.

Unfortunately it's now started raining, so not sure quite what to do this afternoon. Could take her back to Woodside for a go in the soft play, though the toddler bit is very small, and I'd worry about her in the older bit. Suppose we could always don anoraks and brave looking at the goats again. Or we could do Whipsnade again. Decisions decisions!

mustrunmore · 25/07/2007 13:34

Phoenix, I remember when ds1 first worked out that teletubbies were people dressed up I thought I'd never have to watch them again then...

Ta for the picnic plans. I'm sooo lazy, and have so little time to read threads these days. What time you you reckon you'll all be going? Can I feasibly meet dh from work at 5pm do you reckon?

Mr Bean????? Urgh!

Right, few ideas please for MrLodger. He needs ideas for work, of kids days out that are good and why! Have done a list of 8 or 9, but didnt emnail all the ideas as it'd take to long to list the reasons, so will give him tonight. Any to add? I'm not telling you mine, as it'll be interesting to see if you all have the same!

mustrunmore · 25/07/2007 13:36

BTW, coffee with toddlers..... coffee shop is ds1's numver one choice after nursery becaude he gets to go behind the bar and make his own babyccinno, and have a croissant. ds2 is happy enough for 15 mins in the buggy if he has croiisant too

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/07/2007 13:43

Yes I would think you could meet him at 5.
What age of kids is MrLodger interested in (and what work does he do?)?
For dd, I'd say open farms (lots of animals that you can get close to), zoos (animals plus lots of space to run around), aquariums (though we haven't done one yet). Does he just want whole days out, or activities that might occupy a morning or afternoon too? If the latter, then swimming, baby gyms, toddler groups, playgrounds.
How is my list comparing to yours so far?

mustrunmore · 25/07/2007 14:09

He's a project manager for the same company as dh He's just installed new play area at Alton, so assuming there's somthing else on the cards. He's only in on the meeting because he's got kids, although they're too old for it to be of use now So I guess its whole days out. I've thought of several, but then also added things about layout, facilitites, activities available etc.

Teletubbies for sale on mn here

2boysmacca · 25/07/2007 14:19

coffee with toddlers. Babyccino's, muffin for ds and yoghurt raisins for ds2. Have a maximum of 15 mins, more if a good day.

Ds is always asking to go for a coffee mrm, it's his favourite place to be after nursery too Usually followed by the park as well!!

Big soft plays are a huge hit over here, and adventure playground type things, especially if it involves water.

Phoenix · 25/07/2007 14:23

We've been for a walk with the dog and then out for some bits from the Co-Op (mainly milk after this morning) then when we got back home he brought me the remote, i said no and he just ran off to cause destruction around the house as he usually does Its nap time soon (maybe for me too )

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/07/2007 14:59

That's good phoenix .

Is Alton (and other similar places) good for toddlers then? I'd assumed that places like that were just for older kids, so they need to do something about their marketing if it's for little ones too. For soft play, something enclosed but with lots of space to run around (like clown town) is good, so that you don't have to watch every second to ensure that they don't run off.

Yoghurt raisins and babycinos not options for us, so maybe that's why I can't do it!

2boysmacca · 25/07/2007 15:25

they do soya milk....

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/07/2007 16:06

She won't drink from an open cup..

Phoenix · 25/07/2007 16:52

Just pour it into her cup or whatever she does drink out of. We do that with fruit smoothies that we buy in town. It saves us stopping and bending down every few seconds to let ds drink from the straw.

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/07/2007 17:29

She shouldn't have soya milk before age 2 anyway, and refuses any drinks except water or rice milk. Never mind, I've survived this long without coffee, sure I can go a bit longer.

Phoenix · 25/07/2007 17:37

Lew will only drink water mostly, he won't touch juice. He has milk of course and the occasional milky tea oh and those smoothies he loves

2boysmacca · 25/07/2007 17:47

Now you don't drink them, you give them a spoon and they just spoon the froth! In Starbucks they give it to you in a espresso cup, it's just the froth so a soya one wouldn't cause much harm. Ds2 was given (by the Dr) soya milk when he had 2 weeks of a runny tum at Christmas and wasn't taking anything.

FlameDelacour · 25/07/2007 17:57

I'm really sorry guys - I have been reading, but absolutely nothing is sinking in, most of it may even be in another language for all I am absorbing

Went to the doc this morning - he's doing blood tests for thyroid, sugars, iron etc. He felt all glands, stomach etc and that all seems ok. If the bloods are all clear then we are putting it down to coming off the pill and stress. He was really nice I see him most often with the kids, and its nice having a doctor finally who knows me - he asked after Emrys by name, how the nappy business was going, and could agree that I have lost weight!

Frizbe · 25/07/2007 20:28

{{{{Hugs}}} Flame, hope you get sorted out soon honey, horrible to feel so sluggish all the time.

So is a babycinno frothy milk then [stupid northerner emoticon] never heard of one till now

That been said mine are ok in the local coffee shop, they have a toy box and a book box in there, plus my coffee biscuits and an orange juice or water between them!

Chloe, agree with Jas, not surprising your tired, you do loads

Phoenix, I've had some dodgy milk lately too, off well before it should have been, luckily the last batch ended up lumpy in my tea, before I drank it

So we've all done our various swimming lessons here today. Tootled around co-op and I've typed up my answers for the application form for this job, just got to write it all onto the form now.
Dh came home yesterday and announced that he's thinking more and more that it'd be a good idea for me to get a job, so guessing my days of full time self employment are numbered at present

Jas · 26/07/2007 07:20

No idea what babycinno is On the rare occasion mine go into a coffee shop (usually a tea shop for me) I stick ds in a high chair and give him toast. He is very easy to entertain

Flame - I'm glad you went to the Dr and have a nice one. I hope he can help.

I rarely try ds with anything that isn't wwater or milk. He seems happy enough and it is easier for me (and better for his teeth.

mrm - Days out with small people for me need somewhere for mums to sit, drinks to buy, space for buggiesand stuff suitable for a range of ages.

I quite likesoft play and the farm, but space to run is good, somewhere undercover is good, and swings and a sandpit are great.

I may have to pull out of the picnic. I have had diarrhoa (Sorry tmi) since last night DD2 has had it for 5 days, and no other symptoms (I didn't realise for the first 3 dys so she was still eating normally)so if it is long running/spreads to ds or dd1 we will not be going anywhere.
