glad it worked for you bumper...it's a lovely video.

Not sure how it'll go down in the IKEA cafe though

beckmo · 11/07/2007 10:09

Hello June ladies,

I had my DD on the 21st June and think I will be popping on this thread quite a bit as I'm stuck on the sofa with her attached to my boob everyday from about 9am til 9pm...she doesn't stop feeding in the day, all day. At the moment I'm just accepting this is what she needs to do but pretty soon I'm going to get pressure sores and will be needing some advice or reassurance that I'm not alone in this and I'm in the process of growing some milk addicted, giant baby.

And that this won't continue until she is a teenager. x

charlie999 · 11/07/2007 10:12

Thanks Daisy - so I'm not the only one with a clingy DD - I also suffer with not getting things done - but not always due to DD - when I was working full time, I always done housework at w/ends as no other time to do it - now I have more time, I think oh well, will do it later - just a few more mins on the PC - and then tell DH that DD has been whingy all day and nothing got done .

Bumper - I'm glad your BF is going well - although I'm a bit of a lurker, I've been reading about your difficulties, and I really admire you (and the others going through similar things) - I would have given up at the first hurdle (which is why I'm FF and have done since day 1), and it sounds like you've turned a corner - wish I had that sort of perseverance (?sp).

I have to say I am really enjoying DD now I'm getting used to her and her little ways. I think the "bonding" obviously took some time. I don't know if its cos I had an emergency CS and didn't get to cuddle her until she was 2 hours old? It doesn't matter anyway now, cos it has definately happened now . did have a couple of weeks where I thought, bloody hell, what have I done?

Am beginning to get out and about now as well - not being able to drive was awful - felt like a prisioner in my home! Couldn't wait the 6 weeks - has anyone else who's has a CS driven before the 6 weeks? Spoken to insurance company? I didn't as I figured ignorance was the best policy!

If my LO spews up curdled milk an hour or two after feeding, am I feeding her too much?

Sorry long post - go from one extreme to the other me

foxybrown · 11/07/2007 11:05

Congratulations Annobal and Charlie! Hope you had a fantastic birth - come back and tell us all about it quickly Lots of love xxxxxx

bumperlicious · 11/07/2007 11:24

Thanks charlie, we are still up and down. The breast crawl was fab, but not practical in the long term! I'm hoping it will teach us both how to latch on properly but the two feeds since have still been painful and nipples wedge shaped (which is the sign of a bad latch). HV on her way though so going to ask her for advice.

I'm glad you feel more 'bonded' with you DD, but it may not have necessarily been the CS, from what I have read (on here!) it can take a while for you to feel like that anyway. This first rush of love thing is a bit of a myth IMO, my first thought when they put her on my tummy was "she's huge - how did that come out of me?!"

when they put ds on me first thing I did was puke lol

daisyandbabybootoo · 11/07/2007 12:48

hi beckmo.....i saw your birth announcement...congratulatios and i hope things are going well for you...milk guzzling LO aside.

charlie, i think all new mums go through these feelings after the initial euphoria has worn off. it's a huge upheaval to your way of life and takes a bit of adjusting. Try not to feel guilty about the hours you missed. Have you talked through your notes with anyone? I had a horrible labour and em cs with my ds and asked to speak to the consultant next day as i thought it could've been handled better (esp one MW who basically ignored me). she went through my notes and explained each step in the process and why it led to the cs and conceded that i shouldn't have been left as long before the procedure was carried out. It helped me come to terms with it much better i think.

we've had a screamy morning so far and she just won't settle....its driving me bonkers

TALLULAHBELLE · 11/07/2007 13:20

Hurrah for Annobal & JBM. No pressure now Foxy, but we are all waiting for you.

TALLULAHBELLE · 11/07/2007 13:42

bumper how's you today? Just a warning about expressing. I have been trying to express for last 2 weeks, have Isis manual, but can't get anywhere near a full feed out. BF support have lent me electric, hosp issue pump, get 2x as much in half the time but still only enough for top up, not replaceent for a bf. Obviously, you may have lot more luck than me, know others are able to express loads, just didn't want you to be disheartened if not a great success when you try.

sputnik · 11/07/2007 13:49

Huge congratulations to JBM and Annobal, looking forward to hearing the details.

I'm mytwocents' text buddy, I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.

I am going through hell potty training DD, it's possibly the most frustrating thing I have ever done. Baby Sputnik is a doddle by comparison.

sputnik · 11/07/2007 13:53

I had trouble getting much out when expressing too Tallulah. Then again I don't leak either, think it's connected.

bumperlicious · 11/07/2007 13:56

Talullah, thanks for the warning. I'm going to try the avent isis, if it's not good I might try to hire an electric one. Have you tried just doing a little bit after each feed rather than all at once. you have to make sure it cools down before adding it to the rest. maybe you could get a full feed that way?

We have booked dd in for a reflexology session which will hopefully help with the wind. I'll let you guys know if it helps.

sputnik, sound like you are having a tough time. don't have any advice i'm afraid, have you tried looking at the potty training threads on here? Good luck! sound like you have a gem in baby sputnik!

The hv came today and she said she can't see anything wrong with our feeding. she said it sounds like referral pain. feel a bit better now, and I expect that will help in itself. dd is now 8oz over birth weight. not sure if that is good or not but hv seems to think she is fine, and obviously getting enough food.

OP posts:
trendaverter · 11/07/2007 14:06

had my HV today...little man is a voracious feeding monster and gaining weight quicker than I care to think about. He was 7lb6 at birth and is now 9lb1oz after 3 weeks.
He has grown out of newborn clothes already (some he never even wore!) and I don't think it will be long before he's in 3-6 month size at this rate...still neither me or DH are small so maybe some of it is genes!
Beginning to regret decision to FF...it's costing me a bleeding fortune

bumperlicious · 11/07/2007 14:18

Blimey TA, dd has only gone from 7lb6 to 7lb14 in the same time! but i wonder if there is a difference between bf and ff babies. the money think is part of the reason I'm so determined to keep on with the bfing. though when you consider the nursing chair we bought, trips to osteopath and reflexologist on friday and the copious amounts of food I need to eat I'm guessing it pretty much breaks even

how's your little man doing today though, apart from the mega feeding? dd is tucked in her sling. she looks all twisted and scrunched up but seems to like it so who am i to judge!

OP posts:
trendaverter · 11/07/2007 14:26

yes there is a big difference I think between FF and BF when it comes to weight gain, but your LO will catch up soon (from what I have read).

He's good today actually - we have good days and bad days, yesterday was poo, today he is much better but a bit 'needy'. I am still v tired though and struggling to find the energy to catch up on emails etc. Usually I like to plonk him in bed while I catch up on life or sleep, but today he has wanted to be close or even entertained (spoilt bugger)!

He's asleep on the couch next to me atm farting quite happily every few minutes.
We use a mixture of infacol and dentinox which has seemed to help with the colic and wind but we have to be fastidious about burping otherwise no sleep!

bumperlicious · 11/07/2007 14:30

have you tried a sling? makes you a bit more mobile. it is up and down isn't it? That's usual for this early stage I'm hoping.

OP posts:
trace2 · 11/07/2007 14:42

bumperlicious hi no still looking into it all they think one problem might be when shes fed if shes sick its getting stuck and stopping her breath, but no sick comes out of her mouth, shes had ecg, cheat xray blood tests its just really getting us down making me feel really low.

how are you and baby?

daisyandbabybootoo · 11/07/2007 14:42

trace...good to hear from you, I was just thinking about you and chloe earlier. sorry to hear she hasn't been doing so well, but its good that she's putting on weight.

when do you get the results of your scans etc? it must be a tense time for you, but we're here if you need to chat.

if there's anything i can do let me know.

holly...the other loonylovegood is one of the regular MNers. they've all changed their names until the new book comes out....see HP name thread!
