Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm the 13th too! Next friday DP is taking DS2 on his school trip for the day so not so convenient!

My mum & sis are coming tonight, but has managed to time their arrival at the children's bedtime so will go straight to my older sisters and we'll see them tomorrow. Hopefully I'll go into labour Tuesday so won't have to see them any more. Somehow me not having had the lo by now is very "awkward" for them!

They are going back on Tuesday night so my sister can get her hair done. She is 21 and with her busy life finds it VERY difficult to get to the salon. Guess what she does?

She's a farking hairdresser!

foxybrown · 08/07/2007 10:53

Tell me about your time in Sydney!

We must have been there at the same time. I spent most friday nights in the City (being a drunken slapper in the Forbes hotel mainly), often found in Bondi on a Saturday (classy, huh?!) and home in Newtown - where I still love.

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 08/07/2007 11:05

Morning chickens! I'm not in Australia, fortunately!

Jamantha · 08/07/2007 11:20

I'm a Friday the 13th baby myself. Hadn't noticed that there was one coming up in July until after DD was born (on June 13th, but that was a Weds).

derlor · 08/07/2007 11:23

Hi holly
Foxy, we spent most of our time in gay clubs DCM and The Orb, DH worked for Captain Cook Cruises and most of the guys he worked with were gay and we made good friends with them. I worked in a big private hospital in Strathfield and we lived in Surry Hills. mostly frequented coogie beach rather than Bondi or Manley. we were in Sydney from Oct 1996 - Aug 1997. Fab, Fab, Fab times

derlor · 08/07/2007 11:26

hi jamantha [smie]
what is everyone up to today?

trendaverter · 08/07/2007 12:27

Pah, bleedin' Sydney-ites
Now what is wrong with good old ADELAIDE?

derlor · 08/07/2007 12:30

Oh Hi TA,
I loved Adelaide, spent 2 weeks there.
i've just emailed you BTW x

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 08/07/2007 13:09

don't go to brisbane, it's pretty shit!

foxybrown · 08/07/2007 13:58

For the first time this year after going back I don't think I'd live in Oz, so my love affair with it may be over. We'll always go back, but I don't think forever.

Just got back from long walk to park. Tired, whiney children. Not a twinge. Looks like this one is a Daddy's girl and is hanging on until the Mens Final is over!!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/07/2007 17:02

Where is everybody?????

Back from our mini weekend away and bloody knackered.

We were late for the wedding so never made it to the church, but the reception was really good, with fab food (I had 1.5 portions of everything as the kids got fll sized portions so I had to "help" DS except of course for pudding where he had to help me!!)
DD was delightful, sleeping through the entire proceedings, but DS was an absolutely bloody, farking, sodding, I don't want to go anywhere with him ever again, horrible nightmare ....and I've got a raging sore throat and have had a blocked duct all weekend, bordering on mastitis yesterday with fever, chills and sweats and so so so much pain in my left tit. DS didn't get to bed till after 11:30 and was up at 7:00 so has been extra specially delightful today, and my blocked duct is still not right and boob still rather sore, but the chills have gone thankfully.

So, all in all, a successful first official engagement as a family of four!!

Welcome to cakehead and wedding cake...hope your LOs are doing well and you are enjoying motherhood...are these LOs a first for you both or do you have other DCs??

It wasn't me with the clicky bump...might have been Bumperlicious

Am I the only one that hasn't been to Oz or is from Oz......feeling decidedly left out

Jamantha · 08/07/2007 17:28

sorry about your duct and DS Daisy. But glad DD was good fir wedding.

I've not been to Oz either if that helps?

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/07/2007 17:34

Hi Jamantha....

the blocked duct has been a nightmare. I've had a pain in my boob for a few days, but didn't think anything of it. then yesterday it got really really sore. it wasn't till the chills started that i thought it might be that. dd has been really fretful feeding on that side for ages as well, so maybe she wasn't getting enough or something? hot flannels and extended feeding on that side seem to be clearing it, but its still a bit tender and sore underneath by my cleavage.

more hot flannel treatment tonight i think

Jamantha · 08/07/2007 17:58

My boss from work told me to comb the breast if I get mastitis

riabutterflew · 08/07/2007 18:10

I'm still here ,just being antisocial as it's Sunday and didn't want to spend all day moaning abour DH being at work. He hasn't done the notice thing, but did refuse to work until 8pm and was home by 4.30 (he still should finish at 3pm). No doubt he will get sacked now...

My sister used to livein Adelaide - In Modbury North I think. We visited when I was about 13 (xmas 1991). I don't want to live there. Would rather live in England (dales or Lakes or maybe Derbyshire for preference) but if I had to go abroad would want to live in NZ near my other sister (if she still lived there of course.)

My kids are driving me mad and I spent most of the morning supervising them from bed. I won't cope with the summer holidays, DH here or not!

foxybrown · 08/07/2007 18:31

FWIW my kids are being farking vile today too. DD just drank the Dora Bubble Mixture .

Daisy, I'm prone to blocked ducts too. Hot flannels and kneading your breast from outwards in towards the nipple very firmly IYSWIM to try to unblock it might work. Try doing it in the bath too. Eurgh, bringing back horrid memories.

Happy for this LO to stay in. Have a scan booked in for tomorrow at 11.30 to check the placenta function. Went into labour before I had to do it last time, so fingers crossed it'll happen tonight.

MW told me that they'll go straight for the crochet hook to induce if necessary as my cervix is open. Really, really don't want that to happen. Anyone else had that done to kick things off? And is it worse than dialating naturally?

Am thinking I'll ask for the pessery as first option (well, second, DP is under orders tonight - how either of us are going to be up for it is beyond me!).

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/07/2007 18:32

hi ria......you must feel outnumbered with all those boys to oversee!

has dh handed in his notice then?

jamantha.....comb the breast? ...like with a hair comb, or just in a combing motion? [can't figure it out emoticon]

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/07/2007 18:36

foxy....how is bubs position. wisdom from lulu is that if baby is back to back, ARM makes things very difficult for her to turn without the cushioning effect of the fluid and is more likely to result in intervention. I would ask them to make sure bub is LOA before letting them do it!

Does this mean you won't get your homebirth....when is the cut-off point?

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 08/07/2007 18:54

Aaahhhh! Peace! William had been screaming at me for ages and has just gone to sleep.

I don't know about ARM foxy, but hope it doesn't come to that. I'm with you on the pessary thing, if I was to be induced again I'd def go with a pessary. If you are ready and dilated it's very likely to work and would prob be less traumatic than ARM. Hope it happens tonight!

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/07/2007 19:02

They're lovely when they're sleeping aren't they?

I think I'm off to bed soon....I've never felt this knackered...I even managed to sleep in the car, which I never ever do!

lulumama · 08/07/2007 19:23

i think that was Klaw;s advice!

foxy..how overdue are you?

if you have ARM then you are more likely to need synto drip too if contractions don;t start

when is this being suggested for?

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/07/2007 19:28

sorry lulu.....new baby addled brain and all that...I'm surprised i even retained the information itself!

derlor · 08/07/2007 19:42

evening
how's the boobs Daisy?, i sympathise, poor poor you x

derlor · 08/07/2007 19:43

Foxy i was crochet hooked with DS - never felt a thing, except wet from the enormous gush that followed!

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/07/2007 19:47

better, derlor. I feel so stoopid as i've been getting a stabbing pain for a few days now and it just didn't register.

She doesn't have a very deep latch, and i was assuming that as it wasn't sore and she was getting plenty it was all ok. I've just fed her rugby ball style and my nipple was much longer when it came out, so i assume she's latching much deeper that way.

how's you with your absent dcs and all?...it must feel like a holiday for you too!
