@Lookingforadvice123 I still use a neoprene nappy on my eldest who also potty trained last summer! I've taken her swimming most weeks since she was 10 weeks old (now over 2 1/2 years) and none of her swim nappies have ever been pooed in!

I didn't pay for ultra expensive Water Babies (or similar) lessons last time, and won't this time either. My local pool has a swim teacher in the water to support parents and babies 3 times a week. She also runs a Water Tots lesson which is the same as Water Babies, but with far less emphasis on submersion and with out the price tag! (Babies swim free, so just the

Temp wise - our room is often around 16/17. She sleeps in a babygro, lsv, sleeping bag and blanket. I can’t have it above 19 I melt. And our radiator is off as her bed is near it so our room is colder. Every baby is different too!

Swimming wise - I didn’t take DD till much later and regret not doing it earlier. Won’t be able to take DD2 to baby swimming this time tho unless my mum watches DD1 but may investigate, I loved her teacher. DD1 is g nervous in the pool but I wouldn’t go anywhere that wasn’t a v warm baby pool with a newborn.

mummymummymummummum · 22/03/2019 08:43

@babyp160 I thought 18 degrees was the optimum for a baby!

I checked... NHS says 18 degrees, Lullaby Trust says 16-20 degrees.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/reducing-risk-cot-death/

www.lullabytrust.org.uk/safer-sleep-advice/baby-room-temperature/

Our room is generally 19 degrees; baby wears a short sleeve vest, a sleepsuit and a 1 TOF sleeping bag. I use a warmer sleeping bag on cold nights as our room temperature does drop.

Lookingforadvice123 · 22/03/2019 09:01

You're right Water Babies is extortionate! I think we will do one term this time, shamelessly because we want the underwater photo shoot again (DS1's picture is phenomenal and would be great to have both boys' pictures on display!). We did it for about 9 months with DS1 and it was lovely and fun for DH to do with him on the weekend, but when I went back to work it became a hassle as it was early morning on Saturday! And when DS1 started nursery he had a cold or conjunctivitis for what felt like the first 3 months so we missed loads of sessions. And whether it's worth the money is definitely questionable.

Notquiteagandt · 22/03/2019 09:22

My room is 18 degrees. Little one is in a gro snug the cosey one vest and babygrow. She seems snug enough.

I have such a fear of her over heating. But shes naturally quite a sweaty baby so thats good. As its cooling her down.

When we bed share though ill take her out her sleeping bag as per lullaby trusts 7 steps for bedsharing.

I dont really know what to put her in instead. As obvs keep duvet clear of her. So just give her a little blanket she usually kicks off.

detachablehoof · 22/03/2019 13:08

We keep our room somewhere between 18 and 20 degrees. Probably gets a bit colder at night when the heating goes off. She wears a vest, sleepsuit, jersey swaddle and then one blanket.

Speaking of which - the swaddles I bought shrunk in the wash and I'm a bit worried they are cramping her legs now. Can anyone recommend a good swaddle? Looking for one which has access to change nappies without removing it.

I've had a very trying night / morning. Baby decided to stay awake from about 2am onwards with just a couple of brief cat naps 😖 and is refusing to drink more than a few mouthfuls of milk at a time. She has been asleep for just over an hour now and I'm really hoping that she will have a decent feed when she wakes up. Not had one since 02:30. I feel like I must be doing something wrong 😔

Celebelly · 22/03/2019 13:20

Our room is generally about 20 and she sleeps in vest, sleepsuit and light grosnug overnight. That seems to keep her warm but not too warm!

Can't remember who was asking now but I asked about the slimming world / gym membership at my 6 week check.
Doctor didn't know anything about it but looked it up and 'better living' do offer this. I'm not sure if it's nation wide but look it up.

Anyway, I've got 12 weeks of slimming world vouchers (you have to meet a certain criteria) and they told me about some classes I can go along to and they will set me up with a 12 week gym membership!

Very impressed x

sunday38 · 22/03/2019 17:29

Spent some time this afternoon skim reading the thread to catch up.

Yakadee I was also chasing DC1 round soft play at 3 weeks postpartum! I was really surprised how quick the recovery was after my elective.

bubbly He felt so tiny at birth! My first baby was over 8lb so I wasn't expecting this one to be under 7. Currently 9lb 8 and following his centile well.

bethfreyaisaac Keighley area here too!! Have you got a 2yr old also? We may well have crossed paths at some point already

1sttimetina we've got Sainsbury's own formula which I think is the same price as the Aldi and I've got cow and gate ready made for days out. The ready made tends to be thinner consistency than powder made so could cause a bit of loose poo.

detachable how's your baby been feeding this afternoon? Any signs of reflux? Am just thinking if there's anything causing her to be unsettled.

Tried my pre pregnancy jeans on today for the first time and was really disheartened to see how far off l am from getting back into them. I only put on 1.5 stone during pregnancy but have about 10lb to lose still and my tummy seems to be a different shape after the c section (nothing to do with snacking during night feeds of course!)

Yakadee · 22/03/2019 17:37

@sunday38 - I know right, I was really pleasantly surprised. Also, had to buy a size up, I'm 9lbs off pre pregnancy weight but seems very far away x

bethfreyaisaac · 22/03/2019 18:02

Sunday38- oh wow small world!! Yes, I have a 2YO DD. Wonder if we have! Would be nice to have mum friends who are close!!

DeliberatelyGinger · 22/03/2019 21:48

@sunday38 those night time feeding snacks are completely necessary! I certainly wouldn't be able to get through the night without them. I have a snack box by the bed.

babyp160 · 22/03/2019 23:02

Feel like I'm missing out with no snack box 🤔

detachablehoof · 22/03/2019 23:57

Night time snack box.... Can FF mums justify those too? Sounds like a great invention!! I am finding I barely have time to eat all day, I reckon I'm the lightest I've been for years.

@sunday38 thanks for asking. She barely fed all afternoon. Made me so worried. But she has done a dirty nappy and had a normal size feed just now. Hoping things will be better tonight 🤞🏻
She is quite sick sometimes, I was worried she had reflux a couple of weeks ago but it seems to have settled down. She occasionally brings up what feels like the whole feed but normally it's just a mouthful or so.

1stTimeTina · 23/03/2019 03:17

I feel like I need the snack box tonight! Baby is wide awake, already had 5 oz and is whinging for more! 😭

Yakadee · 23/03/2019 03:34

Well, Emma has done the best stretch yet. My son (3yo) however has decided to wake up on and off since 11:30! For some reason he's now talking about a dinosaur?

Was feeling good about it until she just projectile vomited on my bed! I told my husband to change the bedding while I sorted her out and his response, 'can't we just change it in the morning?'. Really? Yes, I'd love to sleep in sick 🤦‍♀️

She did just give me some mega smiles though and then sneezed out the biggest bogey I've ever seen which was hilarious!

It's been a mixed night! Haha xx

babyp160 · 23/03/2019 05:32

@Yakadee I may have been known to put a towel over said sick and just go to sleep 😂

Yakadee · 23/03/2019 07:32

@babyp160 - it was only on my side really so I'm not surprised by his response lol. It was all over the duvet so couldn't have put a towel over it haha!

Well, what a terrible nights sleep! That's the worst I've had in a while! Plus, my son is still asleep after keeping me awake for so long! The cheek! X

bubblybrit · 23/03/2019 17:15

@sunday38. This is my first baby so wasn’t sure what to expect! The sonographer at our 4D scan at 30 weeks suggested that she would be between 8-8.5lb by her due date. So was slightly surprised when she weighed in at 6lb 14oz. She has only just reached 8lb and she is 5 weeks now!

Fredthespider · 23/03/2019 19:47

@Yakadee I'm a fan of Slimming World. I was at my target weight when I got pregnant so I didn't have to pay whilst I inevitably put on but I was able to keep the gain to 1st 5lb. 3 weeks after giving birth I was back at my original weight. I've found the distribution of the weight has changed, I'm not quite back into all of my jeans, but I can live with that. Good luck!

Temperature wise, I'm a cold person and baby appears to have taken after me! I'm confident our thermostat is broken (it's hanging off the wall post renovations) as that claims were sitting at 23c ish, but the little thermometer in the nursery/room we're sleeping in tops out at 21 when I close the door to keep the heat in.

Lulabell1 · 23/03/2019 20:02

Hi ladies babyD is now 3months old wow that feels strange still so little for her age 9.8lb but she is finally sleeping through 10pm-7am and im quit proud im still bf her with 1 formula bottle at bedtime!

1stTimeTina · 23/03/2019 20:03

To any first time mums what are you doing for mother's day? I feel torn, I want to spend it with my new baby and my hubby but I already feel bad about my own mum. I have two brothers but they never make a fuss of her, one now lives on the other side of the country and the other has also just had their first baby so I imagine they will be spending it as a family or with his partners mum. Do I just split the day and spend the morning with my mum (and take the baby) and the afternoon with hubby and baby? It's hard! I want it to be special with it being my first but I'm also going to have to make it special
For my mum in Some way? I'm likely over thinking this ha

Yakadee · 23/03/2019 20:27

Thanks @Fredthespider. I'm going to give it a go. My vouchers come next week x

Lulabell1 · 23/03/2019 20:35

@fredthespider how does slimming world work..i was back in my jeans as soon as i come home but i have this horrid jelly belly still and need to do something as we are going on holiday soon

Yakadee · 23/03/2019 21:35

@Fredthespider - I'm going to the meeting on weds (I hope) but I also get my shopping delivered the same day. What essentials should I put on my list as I'll be ordering before I've been xx
