@mummymummymummummum

Congrats!!!

Sleep wise I notice a massive difference when we have visitors in the evening time.
Like he is obviously cuddled as people want to meet him but then in the night it backfires as he expects a cuddle constantly!!!

I also read a article on how too many visitors over stimulates babies.

Hope this helps!

mummymummymummummum · 05/03/2019 07:23

How did last night go @Squashbanana1 ?

I had success, so hopefully you did too! She fell asleep at 1:30am 🙃 And didn't wake until 7:15am 🙌 I feel like a new woman!

beckyxo · 05/03/2019 07:44

Hello everyone! I'd like to introduce to you baby Alice. She was born on the 1st of March by an emergency c section. She weighed 7.5 pounds with loads of hair!! She's doing really well and has been discharged from the NICU last night and is now with me on the ward. Unfortunately, I'm not doing so well. I was rushed back into hospital last night with suspected sepsis and a spinal leak. So unfortunately I'm now on drips and have to have an MRI later on as well as a lot of tests. Fingers crossed we can go home soon! Congratulations on all the new babies! They're beautiful! 💕 xx

maxiflump1 · 05/03/2019 08:11

Oh wow @beckyxo sorry to hear you're poorly. Hope you're on the mend soon and the tests come back all clear. Will be thinking of you. Alice is lovely!

Squashbanana1 · 05/03/2019 08:25

@beckyxo congratulations on baby Alice!! Glad to hear she is doing well. Sorry to hear about your misfortunes - hopefully your recovery will be short! The babies are worth it!

@mummymummymummummum wow! Well done ☺️!! my night was better and managed to get 5 hours of broken sleep in between feeds - getting there! ☺️

Yakadee · 05/03/2019 08:36

@beckyxo - she's beautiful! 😍

Sorry you're having a tough time, I hope you're feeling better soon.

We're doing really good on the sleep front actually. Emma ate around 10am, then 3:30am and then woke up at 7am. X

mummymummymummummum · 05/03/2019 08:46

Congratulations @beckyxo Hope all the tests go well.

Glad you got some sleep too @Squashbanana1

I'd say you're living the dream sleep-wise @Yakadee! Long may it continue!

Notquiteagandt · 05/03/2019 09:13

So I finally caved in last night and put baby in bed with me rather than just on me. We slept for 2.5 hours un broken. This is a record for us.

I feel so refreshed..!!

Anyone sucessfully bed sharing? Feel this maybe the way forward to actually getting some sleep.

Baby M is looking loads bigger and finally out of some tiny baby clothes. So deffiantly a growth spurt happening here. So can forgive the lack of sleep.

@beckyxo Alice is beautiful. If I didnt know better Id swear she was smiling in that 2nd photo. Hope you have a fast recovery!!

Yakadee · 05/03/2019 10:25

@mummymummymummummum - I know! Couldn't really ask for better! X

Susannach · 05/03/2019 12:20

@Notquiteagandt We’ve resorted to bed sharing too. With two older kids who don’t nap in the day, I need to be able to get some sleep at night. A (12 days old) is currently only going about an hour or so between feeds day and night, but at least now it’s just a case of feeding her in bed then leaving her to sleep, rather than the torturous process of trying and failing to get her back into the Moses basket. My other DC were similarly difficult to settle and I ended up co sleeping with DC2 for the first 6 months just to get some sleep. I imagine it will be a similar situation this time. Not relishing the prospect tbh but it is what it is.

maxiflump1 · 05/03/2019 15:54

Urgh 4 weeks and 4 days after my C section and my wound is infected so on a course of antibiotics. And not allowed to drive until it clears up: I'm so frustrated!

@Yakadee I'm so jealous of the sleep. Max is mainly bottle fed and still waking every 2 hours at night to feed.

detachablehoof · 05/03/2019 17:35

When can we expect our little ones to start finding some kind of routine? 🤔 My little girl is all over the place. Sometimes she does a 4 hour stretch between feeds but it can be as little as 2.5 hours and just once she went for nearly 6. I can't wait for her to start being more predictable and to do longer stretches between feeds, but then I also feel bad for wishing the time away! She's only 18 days old so can't expect too much of her just yet!

Susannach · 05/03/2019 19:41

@detachablehoof From experience I would say they start to become a bit more predictable on the feeding and sleeping front at between 6-8 weeks (for better or worse!)

AvoidingMarking · 05/03/2019 19:42

@detachablehoof the longest mine has ever done is 2.5 hours. He's only a week old though.

At 6 weeks my daughter slept 10-5, until the 4 month sleep regression anyway.

LittleD0t · 05/03/2019 19:45

Still can't get my girl to sleep in her next to me crib for any more than 20 minutes at a time. She'll only settle in mine or DH 's arms. She's almost a month old now... It's getting hard staying awake.

Tried hot water bottle, swaddling, using a slight inckinincline e... not sure what else to do?

LittleD0t · 05/03/2019 19:46

Wow. That should say incline.

Leafy2018 · 05/03/2019 20:22

@AmberRose17 my dh is Danish. Does your dh speak Swedish/Swedish to the lo?

babyp160 · 05/03/2019 21:02

@maxiflump1 I feel your pain! Mine was infected on day 5...... baby will be a month old on Friday and it's still infected even after a swab and antibiotics and airing it and cleaning it. Calling the doctors again tomorrow.

babyp160 · 05/03/2019 21:04

Opposite of sleep here, I know newborns sleep a lot but it concerns me that he isn't awake much!! Sleeps 2-4 hour stretches in his snuzpod now. Feed repeat. Awake every now and then! Usually 2 hours ish morning and evening and maybe a midnight hour or so.

Yakadee · 05/03/2019 21:20

@maxiflump1 - oh no to infection! I hope it's sorted soon. And I know, we're really lucky!

Xx

AvoidingMarking · 05/03/2019 22:26

@LittleD0t we had success the last two nights doing this. Hot water bottle didn't help either or incline. Have put a used breast pad under the sheet too.

It's so tough. My daughter slept on my chest for 6 weeks until she just settled in one day and was fjne after. Have you googled the 4th trimester or safe co sleeping guidelines?

mummymummymummummum · 05/03/2019 23:11

@LittleD0t I've used a couple of rolled up towels to make a bit of a nest. The midwives did this for me when A needed to stay in her cot under phototherapy lights. It's really confusing as it goes against Lullaby Trust guidance on SIDS, but was recommended by health professionals! Anyway, I'm planning to slowly loosen off on the nest over a few days as she settles in this world.

I like this article on the fourth trimester sarahockwell-smith.com/2012/11/04/the-fourth-trimester-aka-why-your-newborn-baby-is-only-happy-in-your-arms/

Lookingforadvice123 · 06/03/2019 03:28

This isn't a problem I suppose I'll have often, ever, but at 9 days old how long should they go between feeds?

DS2 cluster fed pretty much 5pm-10pm, then slept for an hour (soul destroying). But since that hour he's fed twice, one for about 10 mins and then slept for over 2.5 hours, and then one for 5 mins (and had his dose of oral antibiotics) not long ago.

He seems to have gone back to sleep now, so he has fed but v small little 5 and 10 mins feeds.

What do we reckon?

Waiting to see how his weight is tomorrow, he had only lost 7% on day 3 but then when he was weighed on day 5 it was static (he was a bit poorly so midwife said that might've been why). He's fed plenty today otherwise.

Lookingforadvice123 · 06/03/2019 03:30

Oh and re the "nests", confusingly when we were staying in hospital on the children's ward when DS2 was poorly, his cot had a little make shift best with something rolled up under his sheet, even though the nhs advises against using sleepyheads etc.

Yakadee · 06/03/2019 08:29

Aww my first baby is 3 today! How did that happen. Enjoy every minute with your babies ladies, it goes way too fast! X
