Well dont knock it thats what I say...M has been great really so far..am just waiting for her to go all Lily on my ass and scream 24/7 for 6 straight days..

I wish I was of the age to have a sleep over again..in fact am going to suggest it to my friends..we can get the duvets out and watch DVD'S in the lounge whilst doing each others hair and make-up and talking about boys...in fact anyone fancy it?Little MN sleep over might be just the ticket to get us through this bit..I agree with you Ginger bear...The first bit is so lovely with all the fuss everyone makes..but it can sometimes be a bit of a grind this part when you are getting a bit tired and everyone else has stopped fussing over you and gone back to their lives...especially hard with a first baby I reckon...For what its worth I caught myself saying to L the other day that if she didnt eat her tea without chucking it everywhere she would be making her own from now on!She is only 18 months old....so dont kick yourself too hard on the bad Mummy front..sure you arent and console yourself with the fact that I am surely worse!

Looking forward to Tues..what time are we meeting? Is there a seperate thread somewhere?

cameroonmama · 08/07/2007 22:12

ooh a sleepover, can I come ?

elkiedee · 08/07/2007 23:48

Was it 12 noon at a cafe in Bethnal Green? I would welcome a reminder too. And the name of the cafe!

Morning All

TYG, you're brave having that many girlies stay over! Brings back fond memories of staying at mates houses Well done on the putting down awake front. Ella has started to do the same thing and will lie there for a good 10 minutes sucking on her hand before falling asleep without screaming the house down.

Scoot, how are you feeling?

Just hunted out the meet up thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=17616&topicid=1368&threadid=335163&redir=17616

aprilmeadow · 09/07/2007 08:22

Think i am going to 'tube' it. Am borrowing the Maclaren XT from my mum as i can colapse this and carry it far easier than i can the P&T and just carry Ella in the baby bjorn. Think i need to get the 10am train from Fleet which gets in at 11.15 then that gives me 45mins to do the tube journey.

Lupins71 · 09/07/2007 09:54

GM all I love sleepovers, I use the excuse that its for dd, but as her friends mums are my friends then we get to stay up late and natter, eat copius amounts of choc and ice cream and talk about the good ol days when we are up to no good, did have 1 planned few months ago - funnily enough it got cancelled due to unexpected arrival of a little baby lol must get round to rebooking it, altho that particuar friend is awaiting surgery as her boob job has gone wrong -ooopppss-

Dd woke me up screaming her head off that i was taking to long to get up (6.50am) and she needed a shower WTF she is 4yrs old!!! anyway turned out she was having toilet problems and was emmbaressed and wanted to get cleaned up bless her, A was up every 2-3 hrs again, so am pretty pooped today

Hope ev1 else is ok, back later x

Pebblemum · 09/07/2007 10:09

Morning all

The sun is shining yah, although theres a bit of grey cloud in the sky too so I doubt it will last long

It has been so nice over the weekend that dh was able to finish the IL's garden. It was only supposed to take a couple of weeks but because of the weather it has taken about 8 The astro turf looks great and it was just like laying a carpet, so much easier than turf. No more watering, mowing, or weeds, we are very tempted to get some for our gardens especially the front so we dont have to keep dragging the mower through the house when we want to cut it.

Glad to hear that the babies are behaving themselves. ALana has started gettign herself to sleep at night now. I first tried it on saturday and it didnt hold out much hope so I stayed in the room. I laid on my bed and enjoyed abit of peace, that was until the ds's decided to join me. I had Alana in her cot babbling and the boys cuddling up to me on my bed, it was nice. This was at 9.30pm, next thing i knew it was 2am, dh had just come in the bedroon, woken ds1 and sent him to his bed, ds2 was still snoring away next to me and A was waking for a feed (she hadnt had one since 7pm!)I thought it was a fluke that she had settled herself earlier but thought i would give it another go after her feed and although she laid in her basket fidgeting and babbling for 45mins she did eventually go to sleep on her own I was so pleased as ds2 never once settled himself, he would fight until the very end and only drop off when he was too exhausted to stay awake any longer. We tried it again last night only this time i left the room and within 15mins she had gone to sleep!!!!

jellybellybump · 09/07/2007 10:42

Good morning all,

i really thought that I'd do better than one post a week, but I just can't find the time.

Well done on all the babies sleeping through the night and getting themselves to sleep.

J still feeds every 3 hours and has to be jiggled, carried, shushed/pat to sleep. He's only 5 weeks so i'm sure that's normal, but he's getting a bit heavy for constant being held/carried. He went from 9lbs9 last week to 10lbs11,5 this week.

He also does not like to sleep from about 10am onwards so i spend most of my time trying to entertain. good thing there is no cctv in my house as i'm sure i look like a right mental case.

Anyway, it's nappy time again.

Pebblemum · 09/07/2007 10:56

Jelly Alana doesnt like to sleep much during the day, maybe the odd 5mins here and there but thats about it, when she does sleep I run myself ragged trying to get things done before she wakes so i dont really feel the benefit of the peace and quiet. Wouldnt be without her though She also likes to be entertained or carried around so she can be nosey, by the end of the day my back is killing me.

jellybellybump · 09/07/2007 11:10

big swearing icon...

why don't handpumps come with the big warning "do not lie the pump down after expressing as it will leak!!" they should know by now that pregnant women and new mums don't have a brain anymore and everything needs to be spelled out.

just spilled my freshly expressed milk all over my duvet. (was so chuffed with my 4oz in 15 mins.) Not just the cover but the duvet it self. Have tried to clean it with water and it's drying in the sun, but will it start to smell like normal milk does when it goes off?

Oh and I thought today was going to be a good day...

anneme · 09/07/2007 14:10

I am having sleeping baby jealousy - everyone sounds as thought their LOs are going down at night and staying. Samuel will not settle in the evening until 10.30 ish. He then feeds and, when winded, goes down - last night this was 1 o'clock. He then manages about 4 hours max. However, after his early feed (any time between 4 and 5.30) I am really struggling to get him to bed again - the only way he will go back to sleep is in bed with me. AAARGH. I am being saved by the fact that my lovely DH is getting up with DS1 in the morning so I can have a little more sleep.
I should say that he goes down to sleep v well during the day - hence the fact that I am posting now...He is back to front - how can I get him the right way round?!?!

anneme · 09/07/2007 14:11

PS jelly - I don't think breast milk smells like cow milk when off - I hope not because my clothes tend to be drenched in the stuff

AbbyLou · 09/07/2007 14:16

Afternoon all. Dh has finally gone out to work so I can have some time on the pc at last. Now he's working from home we really must get another computer.
We've had a nice weekend. We had a day in the garden on Saturday as the weather was so lovely. Like a few others we have been doing major work in it. There is not that much left to do now but dh needs to lay another patio next the kids play area so we can sit a bit closer to them when they are playing. The planting is my job and I got quite a bit done on Saturday with some 'help' from ds. Yesterday we went to good old Skeggy which apart from the odd shower was nice and sunny. Tbh it's not the sort of place I would frequent out of choice but dh grew up there and his mum and sister still live there. It was the first time they ahd seen R (couldn't be bothered to visit us before but that's another story!) so thatwas the reason for the visit. We took ds for a run around on a lovely quiet bit of beach that dh knows being a local and all that! He loved it and it gave him a good chane to let off some steam before the long drive home.
R is doing really well. I got her weighed this morning and she was 11lb 3oz so she's getting big now. She is so settled now it's hard to think I was ever stressed about her! She has always settled herself well at night but she does it in the day as well now which is great. Both of them are fast asleep at the mo hence me having uninterrupted time on here! She is smiling and gurgling loads, I just love listening to her talking it's the cutest thing ever. Anyway, I had better be off to do a bit of housework now. Have a lovely meet up tomorrow those of you who are going - I will say that now as I don't know if I'll get the chance to get back on here later.

aprilmeadow · 09/07/2007 17:30

Just been to get my little chubster weighed and at 3mths she is 11lbs 10oz. Had a look at ds's chart and taking into account that she was nearly 4weeks early, therefore making Ella 9wks she is 2lbs lighter than ds at 9wks.

Been selling all of my maternity clothes on ebay. Sold all 10pairs of trousers for 28quid including postage. Gutted that i didnt get more but at least they are not cluttering up my wardrobe anymore. Just got to sort out my tops and then thats pretty much it all gone.

MKG · 09/07/2007 18:17

Hey all I have to catch up. . . .but before I do . . .

Cruz is bad luck for my health. Last week I had the worst headache, chills, and fever. The good part is that my mom came and cleaned my house which makes me happy, because no one has helped me around the house, not even my dh. So I'm up on my feet and now I hurt my back yesterday. I tell you since this kid has been born, I've had more problems I can't even count them all.

Off to catch up now.

MKG · 09/07/2007 18:44

OK pretty much caught up.

On good note I kicked Cruz out of the bed and into his . . . swingset. He won't sleep in the Cradle at night, (although he's napping in it right now) So he sleeps seven hours straight in his swing. IT's just nice to have my bed back and maybe dh will move back in also. He moved to sofa when I was about 9 months preggers because my moving around was a little too much for him, and since he leaves for work in the morning at 5am having a baby crying is not a good idea.

His sleeping the bed with me was not a planned thing, but when we first brought him home he would only sleep if right inside my arm (fun for him, annoying for me). For the past few weeks I've been moving him around, and since we have a king size bed I would sleep on one side and he would sleep perpendicular to me.

Co-sleeping is not the done thing here (to answer a question from last week) but most people do it unintentionally for a month or so just to get sleep. Those who plan on co-sleeping either buy a "cot" that attaches to the bed or get a "nest" that goes in the middle of the bed.

Personally I like my space and two nights ago when I started was the first time I've dreamt since Cruz was born. I hope he'll go in his cradle soon.

BefSnork · 09/07/2007 21:16

guys, quick roll call for the meetup tomorrow.

xx

Lupins71 · 09/07/2007 21:24

Pebble isnt is lovely that these lo's are settling themselves, dd has never and still never has settled into bed very well, she used to only fall asleep if she was toching and twirlling my hair - it was a right pain, glad to here you are doing well

Anneme A may go down well but he still feeds every 2-3 hrs quite often more than that, tbh 2 hours is the norm

Abbeylou so gald the R has settled at last, you certainly went through it for a while there, thier little noises are just so sweet arent they, A doesnt make that many but when he does I just melt

MKG good to hear from you, sorry you are STILL feeling rough, at least now you might start to get some decent sleep and start to recover, A loves to sleep next to me and i really enjoy it but i dont think i could do it regularly, his crib is so close to my bed that it touches and we can hold hands, since dd had her fit from overheating i am too paranoid to share a bed with them for long, hope you feel better soon x

My friend turned up today with a black sack of clothes for A, so with the god knows how many AM brought round and the other buts i have been given bought I think i will have the best dressed lad, apart from what he has in his cupboard and wardrobe there are 8 sacks full of clothes in the spare room, cant believe how lucky i have been, with dd we didnt know people with kids, well a few older ones, and it cost a fortune to kit her out, this time i have probably spent £100, and that includes nappies

If anyone is bored (i know you have babies l I am trying to track down adapters for a bayamo to make it into a travel system, if you have any babystyle stockist near you would you mind asking if they do them or where i can get one - will gladly send cash and KK's to anyone who completes thier mission

Pebblemum · 09/07/2007 22:17

Lupins both my boys have been obsessed with playing with my hair when tired, ds1 used to rub my hair against his cheek and ds2 just likes to be able to hold onto it. I thought they were just strange so its nice to hear other kids do it too, very reassurring Im thinking of having my hair cut short (at the moment it comes below my bra) so I dont know what ds2 will do then lol.

Ive just spent a fortune on ebay (dont tell dh lol)Actually its not that bad, only £41, but i got some great things for both Alana (Gap, John Rocha, Next etc) and myself. She is growing so fast it makes sense to buy a few things from there and while im trying to lose weight its not worth me spending too much on clothes but im getting fed up with wearing the same old things (at least that is how i will justify it to Dh when all the parcels suddenly turn up lol)

We have our 6wk check on Thursday even though Alana is actually 7wks but never mind. Then the following week we have her first injections and then her hip scan so its all go. I still havent heard of anyone else having to have a hip scan just because they had been breach, its not like she was born breach or anything

Anyway for all of you who are going to the meet, wish i could be there, maybe next time, and i hope you have a good time, the cafe wont know whats hit it For anyone not going I will 'see' you on here tomorrow

juliewoolie · 09/07/2007 22:31

Evening all.

my lovely little lad ias also settling himself at night. Has his last feed at 8 generally a ebm from DH then pop him in his sleeping bag and he goes straight o sleep. Normally wakes at 3 and then again at 6 so pretty good going.

Shame cant be said for the daytime rarely sleeps excpet in the car or buggy have given up with the shush/pat thing when we are at home as it takes 45 mins to get him to sleep for 25 mins!

Hope eve1 is enjoying these last few days of sunshine we have had.

See you all tom.

Lupins71 · 10/07/2007 07:49

Have a good meet up today

My dd can say the most flattering things she just put her soft toy calf next to me and said "he likes to be next to peoples senses - and you smell like a mummy cow" [dont think theres an emoticon for my face]

Bless her
