kneehigh, your question re postnatal class doesn't seem at all silly to me. I tried to find out about NCT antenatal classes but was too late, then dp received an email in April(not sure why him not me) advertising a postnatal course.
The course is 6 classes of 2 hours, about 7 of us on the course and we have sort of structured discussion in 2s and 3s on various topics related to adjusting to life with a baby - routine in week 2, childbirth experiences in week 3, feeding today, relationships and emotions next week, something about finding me time, and I think at the end we'll talk about finding childcare and preparing for returning to work because that's several of us have identified as wanting to know about.
It sounds really touchy feely and I do wish I'd had an antenatal course but I'm finding this very valuable too. I'd recommend such a course to anyone who can find and afford one, and would like to see things like this funded so that more women could go to them. It cost £60 which seems like good value IF you can afford it, and I can, but am conscious that even that is beyond the means of lots of new mothers.
There is NCT stuff more local to me but the main organiser is having another baby and has just announced that she has to pull out of inviting everyone round to her house for coffee (that's how she does it) as there are complications with her pregnancy. Hope she's ok, but it looks like I will have to look elsewhere for more excuses to get out of the house.
