rgee - I kept everything she did at her first session and put it in her memory box and she has 3 paintings on the fridge and then anything we particulary love we keep (we have 2 pics so far - 1 apparently is me,dh,ellie and hattie and another one is a crocodile another )

Od painting s are distributed to nanny/grandads/great grandparents etc (although I am not sure where they go as only great grandma has one up everybody elses have dissapeared)

Have kept the fathers day card and painted stone present (was meant to be paperweight!) but most things are selectivley recycled into the paper recycling box when shes gone to bed(although lots of raving about how great they are when she brings them home

Do have a file for the hundreds of bits of paper I get re sports day/term dates/trips/nits/chicken pox/raffles/prozes/fundraisers, all goes on the calender straight away and do the reply slip with correct money and put in her bag so nothing gets missed

what was it supposed to be PCF, or was it an abstract?

Shimmer · 29/06/2007 21:24

MrsGP I've got one of those feeders from blooming marvellous but TBH I wouldn't recommend it. I thought it sounded like a good idea too, but the holes in it are really tiny, so LO really doesn't get any fruit/veg out at all and not a lot of flavour either really. I've given up with it now and am just giving him the the food to hold. I am still a bit paranoid about gagging/choking... but do feel that he's getting a bit better at feeding himself. I Guess thats why they say not to start blw til 6mmonths.

Shimmer · 29/06/2007 21:32

Welcome back RGee! I lived in York for 2 years around 2003-5. I did an MA at York university (while working part time at the castle museum!) and then started my career with Borders at the store there! Oh, and met DP there... Lovely place, though i did get quite bored with it after a couple of years, which is why DP and I decided to make a break for London (or "the Big Smoke" as DP the northerner calls it )

Ohhhhh Billi's just been evicted. ANyone else been watching BB??

MrsCarrot · 29/06/2007 21:37

Mrs Golfpro- did it not arrive then?

I didn't think that food thing looked that great tbh, well, the thought of sucking on the mesh made my toes curl a bit

Hello rgee

MrsC - nope, we had no deliveries at all yesterday BH, if you don't mind, I will send it back to you when it arrives (tell me how much the original postage was and I will put the cash in with it). The dr wasn't sure about it when I mentioned it to her and was concerned it may worsen the diahorrea. Thank you so much for taking the time to send though, it was much appreciated.

I want J to do me some pretty pictures guess I have all of that to come though.

He is currently rolling around the lounge floor - I left him in front of a baby einstein DVD the other day and came back down to find he had rolled into the kitche . He grabs EVERYTHING now, including the cat who is soft as mud. He giggles when he grabs the cat which is really cute.

I went in to find him asleep on his tummy in the cot at 4am. He sleeps through most nights now too which is great. Usual waking time is about 6.45am so 6pm-6.45 - hey I'm not complaining

Thanks for comments re the feeder thing, will save my money. I can thoroughly recommend the Organix Crunchy Sticks if you want some snacky finger food. Be warned though it goes everywhere!!

Not much else to report, have so much housework to do.....in fact I should haul my ass of MN and do some!!!!!

MrsGolfPro · 30/06/2007 08:21

Where are you all lazy people?? It's 8.20am and I am first on the thread!!!!!!!!

JodieG1 · 30/06/2007 08:25

Rgee I didn't get around to doing any baking but I'm going to today, probably do some cupcakes, possibly biscuits and a vanilla cake.

Mrsgp - I've just got up about 15 mins after I had a lovely lie in and a nice relaxing shower, now sitting with a cup of tea My wonderful dh got up with Ethan at 5.45am today so he's going to go back to bed for an hour or so soon. Waiting for shopping to be delivered here after as well. Still raining!

MrsCarrot · 30/06/2007 09:16

Your GP thought it might WORSEN the diahorrea, are you serious? It's a really widely known treatment FOR dodgy tummies. The probiotics that they advertise all the time on tv in yoghurts etc, yakult, aptimil, all that stuff is probiotics. My GP recommends it as well as the health shops etc. It amazes me that we can get by when we're told completely different stuff by our doctors. Oh well if he seems better and you're uncomfortable with it then it's best I guess. Why don't you keep it for a couple of weeks and check it's properly gone, it can sometimes be recurring after AB's, you can always pay me or send it back then.

smallone · 30/06/2007 09:17

It's raining again!

Hope everyone is well/getting better. Just having bfast now and trying to summon up the energy to go to Morrisons. I hate that place but its the only local supermarket and I'm not getting a Tesco delivery til Tues. Have got my folks here this weekend and we're running out of everything it seems.

Need more veg for dd as she seems to be turning into a wererabbit! Think we'll try broccoli today - wish me luck.

OOh and on a BLW note I decided not to tell my mum what I was doing and just gave dd carrot sticks in front of her. Cue exclaimations of "oh..isn't she good with those" DD did one tiny wretchy face when a bit went too far back and then carried on chomping happily.

Now if I'd tried to explain BLW she probably would have dismissed it as some new crazy hippy phase I'm going through!

Anyway must dash to supermarket hell as M+D will arrive soon. (They stay at local hotel as they're too old to sleep on the floor! - Works well for me! )

smallone · 30/06/2007 09:20

Mrs C - Totally agree with docs having conflicting advice my BF was told by GP that she had to stop bfing when she had mastitis and ended up in total agony and gave up bfing. Just wish she'd rung me I'd managed to it fight off with a feedathon and a cabbage leaf in the bra!

Anyway I am going now...honestly

RGee · 30/06/2007 09:51

Mmm...cup of tea and MN is the way forward Jodie. I am following your lead.

MrsGP I had a lie in this morning. Pippa recently has not started waking until a bit later (c 7.15) and DH got up with her again so I had an extra half an hour. But yesterday was great as I stayed in bed until 11.30am!!

Thanks for the welcome back folks. I missed you all
Thanks for the low down on what you keep EaH. I've got a memory box for Pippa and love looking through it myself already!

Well surprise it's raining. I dread to think of the state of Vino's flooded cellar. Just been out to get a pint of milk for said cuppa (I can live with a Peppermint tea (ohh, get me) but DH can't). Not sure what to do today. Am tempted to go check out the sales - am thinking of buying a next stage car seat whilst the sales are on, and a buggy. Can anyone recommend a second pushchair - I know a lot of you are pushchair fanatics! Specifically, I want one I can take on a plane, that is light, umbrella folding, reclines, and preferably has swivel wheels and a shopping basket. Don't want much eh. And I'm a sucker for a bargain.

What's everyone else doing today?

smallone · 30/06/2007 10:36

Back for a brief lurk - I have the quinny zapp which I love super light/easy to fold manouverable (sp?) and small, but on the down side no recline or shopping basket (although there is a company on ebay that do baskets that fit)

I have heard that the mutsy is smaller but haven't had a proper look at one so don't know about the recline/basket situation.

smallone · 30/06/2007 10:39

Oh and BTW NEVER go to Morrisons at 9.30 on a saturday I nearly had Grey Rage!!! Honestly just because you're over 60 it doesn't mean you have the right to ram me! i'm not deaf I will hear you if you say "excuse me"!

Aggghhh peppermint tea sounds like a good idea

MrsGolfPro · 30/06/2007 11:46

SMALLONE - STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER...

I too am interested to hear your (cheap) buggy recommendations for our trip to Center Parcs in September.

Thanks MrsC, will hang on to it for the time being for a week or so if that is OK with you? I take it I don't have to keep it in the fridge unless I open it??

I agree what you say about conflicting advice. My BF lives opposite me with a LO two weeks younger than J and our HVs give OPPOSITE advice. It is quite ridiculous. She says 'Oh my HV said xxxx and xxxx' and I'll think 'sh*t!', check with my HV and they say 'Oh no, she's been told wrong, it should be xxxx and xxxx'.

Have decided HVs are shite

trixymalixy · 30/06/2007 11:49

Morning, well I think DS' bad sleeping was just a growth spurt or teething and not a sign to start weaning as he has been sleeping sp much better that past couple of nights. He slept till 5am this morning when DH gave him a bottle and put him back down and I had to go in and wake him up at 9.30!!

Have probably jinxed it now and he will be up all night now!! Touch wood!!

Rgee - we did have a good time thanks. Well as good a time as you can have on holiday with your ILs!! I have a Micralite which does just about everything you want. DS looks a bit swamped in it at the moment though and I'm not sure he'll manage to sleep in it as it doesn't recline.

Mrs GP - I quite fancied one of those mesh feeder things as well. Not sure if I'll bother now though.

trixymalixy · 30/06/2007 11:51

I've come to the conclusion that GPs know bugger all. My GP told me completely the wrong dosage for Infant gaviscon and prescribed DS 2.5% hydrocortisone which says on the leaflet inside it not to use on children!!!!

RGee · 30/06/2007 11:53

Trixy - wow! That is a nice lie in!

MrsGP think I'm going to buy this pushchair

MrsGolfPro · 30/06/2007 12:10

Oooo RGee - that looks good. Hmmm, will have to talk to DH tonight. I have already had a telling off this month for my spending

....I can't help it. What else is there to do when on maternity leave????

laughalot · 30/06/2007 12:38

smallone · 30/06/2007 15:18

Thanks for calming tea! Much better now. Have realised af is probably lurking - damn I was hoping the return last month was just a one off!

Mum is looking after dd while I make a lasagne for tonights tea and have sneaked onto MN! Hee hee!

I think I've got the only decent HV's in the country. Very sensible - are genned up with latest info but also have common sense advice and they actually realise that every baby and every parent is different - horses for courses and all that. Love them, Love them, Love them. Actually only go to clinic to chat to them!

So everyone should move to deepest darkest Herefordshire!
