A new thread for us all

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Elibean · 27/06/2007 15:28

OK, thats it, we're all loading up a 747 with our LOs and ourselves and heading for Jabber's house

Sun definitely needed - may not sort the teething, but would confuse the hell out of the bugs and make us all feel better, no?

Elibean · 27/06/2007 15:29

Apart from Jabber, of course, who will want to emigrate

SachaF · 27/06/2007 16:45

I vote yes for sunshine!

SachaF · 27/06/2007 16:48

BP, I do sympathise, I remember my sister being quite suprised when she found out ds pooed 2-3x/day at 3-4months - I was finding it tough handwashing all the wraps! It sure is nice being every 2-3 days - apart from when it happens and all the smelly farts before!

babypowder · 27/06/2007 17:48

Sacha, handwashing wraps Mine just get chucked in the wash. Is that wrong?

mylittlefreya · 27/06/2007 18:27

Sunshine sounds good!

I am sorry there are so many poorly mummys and los.

Tomorrow is our appointment about dd's reflux at last. It has now started with solids too - just as I was starting to enjoy feeding her something!

Hope you are all surviving the rain. We are soggy rather than flooded.

Sacha - congratulations on the new nephew, how exciting!
Indith - any better? Don't leave it too late for abx if you need them, will you?
Castles - do you manage to do that? I often mean to, but can't manage it, toot tired.

Two horrendous nights sleep, hoping for a better one...

accessorizewithbabysick · 27/06/2007 19:48

Hullo all (although where o where is LFM?)

Not much sleep going on by the sound of it - come on babies!! You know you want to....Your plan sounded good Magnolia, I thought Piriton was allergy medicine tho am I missing something?

Castles, the homeopathy consultation sounds fab (but did you have to take children with you?). Absolutely agree about the writing things down, that sounds a fab idea, I will remember it for when next I need it. I've been writing down funny things they say and do a few nights a week (dp reminds me now to 'put it in the book') and it gives us both a real boost when everything seems like it's choredom. Will try to reply to your email soon, flooded with aussie ones at present. and how's the helmet going?

Indith, any better?

Margo, was planning to do exactly as you are thinking re bf & work. Let me know how you get on, I just hope that ds2's going to drop a feed or 2 before then!

Handwash wraps (what, fleece ones?)???

Guilty moment. Our drier arrived today, I gave in, can't keep up with the pooey, sicky, wee-ridden children of mine with 1 airer in ds2's bedroom! After all my efforts to be eco with the nappies too

SachaF · 27/06/2007 21:28

Handwashed wraps as when he was doing several poos a day and I had four wraps I couldn't wait until I did the next nappy wash to wash them otherwise I'd have needed about 10 wraps! I still handwash wraps if it is a couple of days till a wash goes on (every 4 days) otherwise they go in the machine if at all possible.

accessorizewithbabysick · 27/06/2007 21:39

Got a spare large Rikki if you want it Sacha, or a Nature Babies medium (ds2 has grown out of the NB and the rikki is too big but I have too many others).

SachaF · 27/06/2007 21:44

Ooh, I was just thinking of buying a large ME wrap today as I need to get some new bulky night nappies. sachaj_course at yahoo dot com.

accessorizewithbabysick · 27/06/2007 21:57

Mailed you...

babypowder · 27/06/2007 22:28

sacha, what are you using for night nappies? I'm using good old Tots Bots, but am thinking that I may have to move to something a bit, well, bigger soon! I do love Tots, and MEOS, but feel the need to be more adventurous I'm really jsut feeding my nappy addiction ...

jabberwocky · 28/06/2007 02:58

Congrats on the nephew Sacha!

eli - it would be a treat to have you all over

I am feeling soooo guilty with all of you cloth nappy people out there. I ordered and received my G diapers 2 weeks ago and haven't used one yet I did manage to get dh to watch the kids for 2 hours this evening and got the house in some sort of order. Maybe if we can do that occasionally I could get caught up enough to try them

SachaF · 28/06/2007 09:47

I'm playing around with night nappies at the mo (and am about to start a thread on it) - I am still changing him at 2am, I have Ella's house bumhuggers (but need next size up), The Tots Bots cotton ones seem quite good with extra boosting, plus I have a Minki huggle which was great but now I think I need next size up for absorbancy. Have just ordered a Tots Bots fluffle and a Tots Bots Bamboozle to try out - 20% off if you are happy with a cosmetic second! I have got 3 bamboo boosters (which I love!) and 4 cotton bottom boosters (good old terry).
Must go order a bumhugger - got interupted yesterday! (poo, vomit, snot - it seems to be calming down today!)

SachaF · 28/06/2007 09:58

night nappy thread someone else pretty much asked the same question.

accessorizewithbabysick · 28/06/2007 12:21

Fluffle with bamboo booster + airflow has never leaked for me. I think the key is the booster, I was thinking about some hemp ones. I like fluffles and bumbles cos you can stuff them really easily with anything.

Indith · 28/06/2007 12:54

Loads better thank you

Have read, can't remember anything axcept that visiting Jabber sounds like a great plan and i think we should have a December thread meet up at Jabber's

I'm off, sooooo much packing left to be done, can't believe I'm moving out tomorrow and have no idea if I'm coming back or not or any clue about anything at all really. But that is the subject of a feeling sorry for myself rant and i shall not start that now. Will have internet til Tues ish at my parent's then I'll be awol for a bit.

Right, must go pack stuff for ds and I.

SachaF · 28/06/2007 17:28

Not had leaks, but they are really wet after 6 hours so he gets changed. But when (oh when) he drops the night feed I'm sure the nappies will cope

mylittlefreya · 28/06/2007 18:50

Am feeling hugely guilty about nappies...
I just couldn't take a tiny house, no tumble dryer, having to wash dd's clothes continually because of the reflux anyway...
Bit hopeless really.

Am very impressed by supermums that do.

The mouse's reflux is being treated AT LAST!!! Thank you for the support whilst I was whinging about it. Hopefully she will get better.

Sleep vibes to everyone from me.

babypowder · 28/06/2007 20:51

MLF, so glad to hear that the reflux is being treated - hopefully it will transform your (and mouse's) life!

DD1 finished nursery today. Cue much weeping during the church service! Only 7 weeks til she starts school

And only 2.5 years til DD2 starts nursery

Olihan · 28/06/2007 20:58

HELLO, HELLO! I'M BACK!

Finally I have broadband and I am back in the real world again! I've really missed you all, think my MN addiction is rather more serious than I thought!

I've started a little thread herewww.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1375&threadid=347325&stamp=070628202359 (Just got all smug about remembering how to do links and they've gone and changed it )if you wouldn't mind popping over and filling me in on what I've missed since May 18th. Just a quick synopsis, pretty please, there's no way I'll be able to get through the amount you all talk .

Big news here is that ds2 is sleeping through the night . He is the most appalling sleeper in the world. A good night he will go for 2 hours between wakings, a bad night he's up every 40 mins. Not what I need when dh is away 4 nights a week . I bought The No Cry Sleep Solution last weekend so that's my project for the next few weeks - things can only get better.....................

New house is lovely, new village is fantastic. I've met so many nice people already and had so many invitations to days out, playdates, etc that I don't stop. It's so different to where we were before, where no one spoke to anyone else. We went on a preschool outing today and ds1 fell off a climbing frame and broke his arm so one of the mums took me to A&E with him and looked after ds2 and dd while we were being seen and 2 other mums sorted out collecting her dcs from school, taking her dd to ballet and giving them tea. I'd only spoken to them all a couple of times at preschool pick ups, so it was unbelievably kind of them. But that's the sort of village it is.

So, I'm a happy, if very sleep deprived, bunny generally, and I am SO GLAD TO BE BACK HERE .

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 28/06/2007 21:02

'twas my first day back at work today.

dd2 seems okay with dropping a feed or 2 during the day.

10.30 b/f before leaving work

11.30 banana porridge & a couple of swigs of formula

1.00 7 oz formula

Then I b/f when I got home (about 4pm)

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 28/06/2007 21:03

Hiya Oli - have missed you too

GlassSlipper · 28/06/2007 21:03

Olihan - your new village sounds lovely. Hope DS's arm heals well - I know it can be very painful

Indith · 28/06/2007 21:08

Welcome back Oli! Good to see you. Sounds like you live in paradise! (Although something tells me paradise would have more sleep) The No Cry.. is great though. Best of luck with it.

Congrats on first day back Margo

And congrats on reflux treatment MLF, fingers crossed for improvement.

I think I'm all packed, at least all wardrobes and chests of drawer are empty, stuff is all boxed up and I have a bag to take to parents. Dp has the kitchen and shoes/coats to do tomorrow and that is it. Suppose I'll have to pack this machine later too!
