A new thread for us all

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

How many babes ARE sleeping through, as in bedtime till up time? Mine isn't, though having put towels down the side of the cot mattress to stop her squishing her arms through and waking up might help a bit

magnolia1 · 17/07/2007 13:39

Sorry Ive been a stranger Can someone tell me the important bits Ive missed?

Who's sitting up? Who has teeth? Any of them said mum yet?

Ds1 cut his 1st tooth on Saturday while we were camping. He was a miserable bugger too Now panicking in case he bites my while feeding.

He sat up properly on his own today for the first time, about 3 minutes without a wobble

Still not sleeping properly though and I am exhausted

Family drama's continue but not as bad

Will try to skim some of this mammoth thread I have missed

FoeGlassSlipper · 17/07/2007 13:42

No biting yesterday or today (so far)

DD2 has a lumpy puree (jar) then yoghurt or fruit pot for pudding and some finger food like broccoli, rice cakes or banana throughout the meal. I couldn't drop the puree as she eats so much and the finger food wouldn't fill her up but she does love feeding herself...

FoeGlassSlipper · 17/07/2007 13:44

x-post with magnolia...

DD2 is sitting up, has 2 teeth, loves food, sleeps through 4/7 nights i would say.

castlesintheair · 17/07/2007 14:16

Well done on the food Eli. A relief for you

DD2 loves feeding herself. In fact she likes doing everything for herself including (attempting) to take her nappy off and generally trying to undress herself. In addition to having to change her (and my) clothes several times a day due to vomit, I have also taken to feeding her naked as she is so messy!

She's also sitting & crawling & walking if you hold her hands. Not that I encourage her! Also, starting to pull herself up to standing. And, she's been teething for an eternity. What have I spawned?

However, she is sleeping again, though still wakes around 5/5.30 am.

castlesintheair · 17/07/2007 14:19

In case that sounded a bit ungrateful & negative, DD2 is totally captivating and I adore her, I just think that someone 'up there' is making sure I don't get any funny ideas about having any more !!

jabberwocky · 17/07/2007 16:12

Not sleeping though here, eli He is dow to waking at 3 and 6 only which is an improvement.

Hi to spina, oona and magmolia!

Let's see, ds2 is crawling and sitting up. Doesn't seem particularly interested in pulling up yet and is apparently going to be a late teether like ds1.

jabberwocky · 17/07/2007 16:13

castles, ds1 was a very early walker so I totally get your meaning

magnolia1 · 17/07/2007 16:45

Blimey I knew ds1 was lazy he is one of the eldest of the babies and not even up on his knees yet let alone pulling up to stand. like his father

Elibean · 17/07/2007 17:13

no teeth here, expect they help the eating, no? (not necessarily drinking though, FGS, eh )

Sitting, keeling over as grabs for everything, lunging forwards (and bashing nose), trying to pull up and trying to crawl, thank god without success so far.

jabberwocky · 17/07/2007 17:38

oops, typing and expressing...

FoeGlassSlipper · 17/07/2007 18:23

elibean and you could have just described my DD. when was birthday? Mine 09/12

Elibean · 17/07/2007 18:53

Ah, Jabber, you're making me nostalgic

FGS, she was born 24/11 but her due date was (I think) 8/12 so near enough

Olihan · 17/07/2007 20:31

Been up since 3am, not a getting up time I'd recommend. Ds2 slept for a grand total of 3.5 hours between 3am and 5pm and ended up so strung out it took me 1.5 hours to get him settled and asleep for bed [despairing, knackered, slightly tearful emoticon]. I just do not get what is up with his sleeping. And he's been so tired all day that he's had no solids and really faffy bfs so he'll probably be starving all night...................................gah, ignore me, I'm going to wallow in self pity.

babypowder · 17/07/2007 20:39

Oh, Oli, sending loads of sympathy (((((sleep)))))

I can't believe how mobile your babies are! DD2 can sit quite happily for ages, and can wriggle on her back to get at things, but she's showing no signs of crawling yet. Thank god. DD1 never did crawl - only bum shuffled - so maybe DD2 will emulate her.

FoeGlassSlipper · 17/07/2007 20:44

Oli - you poor thing

Oh wow.....baby glass crawled backwards tonight!!!!!

babypowder · 17/07/2007 20:50

I'm reading DD1 'Back to Front Benjy'at the moment. You wanna watch that backwards crawling, FGS ...

castlesintheair · 17/07/2007 21:17

Oh gawd, Oli, sleeeeeeeeep vibes to DS2. My only suggestion is to declare to yourself that he must be teething and dose him up with calpol/medised and keep your fingers crossed. I have also been known during the wee hours to stare hypnotically at DD2 then shut my eyes in the hope that she'll copy. It often works. Also continuous stroking of the 3rd eye, as the Greeks call it.

castlesintheair · 17/07/2007 21:20

FGS, both my DDs started crawling backwards 1st.

Eli, was laughing at your food comments earlier. One of my best friends is French and Jewish and all we ever talk about is food. Not sure what my excuse is though ...

weirdbird · 17/07/2007 21:44

{{{{Oli}}}} - Sends sleep vibes, not suprised your getting desperate!
Would definitely be trying the Medised!

Magnolia - No teeth but mammoth teething sessions taht seem to do nothing, sitting up, rolling, crawling backwards at speed, pivoting round, standing for long periods with support, is starting to try and pull herself up. Birthday 03/01 she is one of the youngest but that said compared to her sister she is quite slow....

Enjoy the tranquility of laziness!

Castles, I think we have clones!

castlesintheair · 17/07/2007 21:55

Yes indeed, WB!! I've heard gastric reflux babies usually get moving quickly. Sometimes I wonder if that is the cause of all the vomiting, or why it's getting worse anyway

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 17/07/2007 22:31

Castles regarding your 14.16 post today

"In addition to having to change her (and my) clothes several times a day due to vomit, I have also taken to feeding her naked as she is so messy! "

Who's naked, you or her?

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 17/07/2007 22:32

Oli - she has 2 b/f and has formula approx 3/4 times a day

Elibean · 17/07/2007 22:34

Castles, what do the docs say about dd's vomiting getting worse? Re the food talk, I remember being on the Eurostar going to Marseille a few years ago, and these two French people talking about food ALL the way there...six hours of recipes...dh and I giggled a lot listening

((((Oli)))) that is more than rough. One of my pals' ds is 9 months, and was sleeping much like that until she got desperate and went to HV sleep clinic: she thought it was teeth/tummy/allergies but was told it was just habit and given a fairly rigid sleep training routine to try. It worked, without much upset on either of their parts - amazingly. Is your ds normally a good sleeper? (Sorry, am sure you've said, but can't remember own name as my dd isn't, very ). I vaguely remember dd1, who was a good sleeper, going through sleepless phases whenever she took a developmental leap - eg crap sleep for three nights, followed by crawling/standing/walking etc. Anyway, I really hope you have a better night...lots of sleep vibes to you, and more to your LO...

Still giving dd a night feed here, though down to one a night - till her weight improves. OH how I wish she'd do what the rest of us like to do: go to bed later, and get up later - 6am starts are horrible. I do'nt know how you manage 5am, Castles...

jabberwocky · 17/07/2007 23:14

Yes, ds1's sleep would get much worse right before he started doing something new.

I agree with castles - surely he's teething, oli. OTOH, ds2's bad sleeping improved quite a bit when dh started doing cc
