A new thread for us all

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
magnolia1 · 07/07/2007 11:46

Yeah the dad thing was all related to the sister thing.

In chat there's a thread 'Bloody hell I think My sister has lost it'

castlesintheair · 07/07/2007 14:28

Hope things improve for you & your family soon magnolia.

Hope you feel better soon WB & you got to the GP.

Things are improving here. I just feel sick now and not dizzy/faint.
DD1 has had another vomiting bug and also possibly DD2 though it's hard to tell with her still rampant gastric reflux .
DS has a statement offer for next year at school which is a huge relief. The school are trying to get a full-time one which would be amazing.
DD2 is getting on a lot better with her helmet. She's actually sleeping in it now. I'm not sure if I'm hallucinating but I can actually see the changes.
And, the sun is out!!!

Sleep vibes to everyone suffering. DD2 still wakes up at 5.30am but I've decided to compensate for it in the short-term by going to bed at 10pm, saddo that I am!!

Olihan · 07/07/2007 22:25

That's good news Castles. Bed at 10, up at 5 is my routine too, unless I get hooked on here!

Magnolia, had a quick read of the other thread - hope your sister can get the help she needs, sounds horrid for everyone.

Hooray Eli, for our self settling babies. I fear we may be taking a few steps back now though, he woke with a temp at midnight and spent the rest of the night in bed with me. T'was lovely though, snuggling up with a soft little naked baby - soppy .

Elibean · 08/07/2007 14:20

Ahh, Oli, vivid images of soft snuggly (feverish) babe...hope all better now, snuggles apart! Mine still settling easily, but as for sleeping through..

Castles, another sickness bug?? Or the one the dds had a couple of weeks ago? Blimey, its endless - as are our summer colds. Nearly end of term - we'll make Kew soon, viruses allowing

Magnolia, I'm sorry your family is having problems...I'm no stranger to addiction, and the havoc it can cause. Hope your sister is getting some help (sorry, not read the other thread...)...and that your neice is ok.

AQ, I've jsut about quit expressing...down to once every 48 hours or so to stay comfortable, and a bit sad about it, mad as that sounds. If dd2 was still interested in feeding herself, I'd keep it up - but she's far too impatient now, used to the bottle as she is. As for solids, we're trying BLW and purees both...but have to wait for ordered portable booster seat for real BLW to take off: she can barely see over the tray of dd1's old high chair Doing a little better yesterday, suddenly hungry - maybe colds/teething are interfering more than I realize. How are you getting on with weaning? Love the sound of the sling thing...need my Hippy Chick back...

Olihan · 08/07/2007 20:28

I've just updated my photos, I think they're visible to everyone, just shout if you can't see them!

Eli, he's fine in the day but the temp creeps up at bedtime then goes away after 2mls of calpol. Most odd.

Ds2 is also doing a mix of puree and blw. He's really not keen on anything savoury pureed at the moment but will dribble over sticks of veg or bits of pasta. Have the same problem as you, Eli, he's too smalll for the highchair though - hi chin rests on the tray .

Hope you've all had a nice weekend. Isn't it so much better with a bit of sunshine?

GlassSlipper · 08/07/2007 20:57

Oli - your pictures are gorgeous!

I weighed DD2 last night. She is 15 lb 5 oz. More than a lb heavier than DD1 at this age.
She is eating pureed food with lumps (ie, 7 mth jars ), pureed fruit (homemade lol) and finger food like banana, broccoli, toast, baby biscuits.

Olihan · 08/07/2007 21:03

Cheers, GS, I think so too! How's the Hippychick been? I tried ds2 on 7mth jars the other day and he properly gagged! So back to stage 1 jars, methinks. I've been really rubbish at home made stuff this time, ds1 had no jars at all, dd had about 50/50 and poor ds2 has no homemade . Really need to make more of an effort or he'll be on stage 1 fruit forever .

accessorizewithbabysick · 08/07/2007 21:11

DS2 looks so pleased being able to sit up Oli, exactly the same expression as mine (who learnt last week).
In scotland after overnight trip (we got in at 5.30am I am soooo drivejagged as couldn't sleep at all even whilst dp driving) really nice, dad helping out loads and weather quite good so once I stop being a zombie I'm sure it will be wonderful. Kids have been fantastic, bless em, ds1 was awake when we crossed the border and we both shared the excitement of that at 12.45am!
Eli, glad the weaning's looking up, sure it was just illness that was the problem, I never eat when I'll ill! I know how you feel about the bf, I'm gonna find it so hard when the time comes and I'm leaving it to him to self-wean now. Really applaud you for sticking it as long as you did, you must enjoy not having to wash the pump 3 times a day tho When you think what you've got her through, you must feel so proud about it.
Castles, sounds like some good news at last, v.pleased for you!
GS, please no guilt about jars or I'll have to join you, I started getting them a week or so ago I just can't keep up with it all! Some days I just forget I've got to sort ds2 out as well and he's clamouring louder than ds1 now...
WB, how're you today?
Mag, haven't had time to check out the thread but hope the family situation is resolving itself. Can't believe nothing has worked with ds, is he still getting up every 2 hours? {{}}

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 08/07/2007 23:24

WB and Castles - hope the dizziness and sickness goes completely.

Ah, so you've spotted the auburn tinge in dd2s hair. We haven't any redheads in the family, so I'm unsure of where she gets it from.

Oli - your los are beautiful. Hugs to your brave little boy.

Hi All,

Hope everyone has been enjoying the weather, have been taking it easy apart from 20 friends over for a BBQ but that was good fun! and DH did most of the work so it hardly counts, had lots of Pimms and enjoyed not having a baby on my hip all day as everyone wanted a cuddle so she was passed around the whole time and she only got given back when she was wanting to feed, its quite funny my friend is very big busted and Hannah always looks at them in this wide eyed way as if "Wow how much milk must they have!" My friend always laughs and says its like false advertising

Havnt felt sick when I eaten, but Hannah is finally sleeping again and have been trying to catch up as much as I can and it definitely seems to have helped!

Margo & Oli your kids look amazing, really want a boy now too!

Oh and Oli, don't feel guilty over the jars cause then I will too! I had to make all of DD1's food cause most things had dairy in which she couldnt have, poor Hannah has had a couple of batchs of homemade and the rest has been jars...

GS - Hannah was weighed last week and is now over 20lbs, she only just turned 6months We have however moved off the 98th percentile and are heading down towards the 91st which is good as I have no summer clothes in the next clothes size up!!!

Magnolia - Really hope things have improved with your sister and that you've had some more sleep!!

Greetings from sunny Scotland The sun is shining, and all is well with the world.

I love all the new photos. Its funny how so many have an auburn tinge to their hair - DD2 does as well. There are loads of redheads in our family, and I've always secretly wanted a gingertop. Hopefully her hair will darken a bit into the red palette, but I'm not holding my breath. She'll end up with blonde hair, just like the rest of us.

Hope things are resolving themselves, Magnolia.

I'm glad I'm not the only poor weaner out there. I just keep forgetting that DD2 has to eat along with the rest of us. Some days, she's lucky if she gets a crust of bread and a bit of veg Making a dhal tonight, so as long as I remember to add the chillies at the end she should get lucky and get some tea.

babypowder · 09/07/2007 21:04

And, typically, she hated the dhal , but wolfed down almost an enire banana. Kids! [exasperated why-do-I-bother emoticon]

Olihan · 09/07/2007 21:25

Ooh, my hippychick arrived today. Been wearing it all day and it's fab! Did a Tesco shop with it (but did feel a bit like I was wearing a supersized bumbag when I put him in the trolley briefly!) and ds2 seems to like it, so no more achy wrists for me.

WB, can't believe how big your dd is. Ds2 has only moved into 3-6 month clothes at 5 months and I've had to order a new 1 tog 0-6 months grobag for him because all my summer ones are 6-18 months and he gets lost in them! Considering how huge he was when he was born, I don't know why he's so teeny now. Ds1 was a 98th centile baby and I should think he still is, he wears age 5 clothes already and everyone comments on how tall he is. Dd always sat around the 75th centile but is still wearing 12-18 month clothes with room to spare (at 22 months) and poor ds2 is on about the 25th. You'd never know they all came from the same gene pool! There's rogue genes all over the place .

Very amusing about the number of red headed babies on this thread. They're taking over the world, you know!

Magnolia, hope things are settling down for your sis and your niece.

WB, glad the sickness is easing and you're getting some sleep - am v about that .

BP, whereabouts in Scotland are you? We're heading up to the top end of Loch Fyne, near Inverary, in a couple of weeks. It's west coast so I'm not holding out much hope for the weather - at least the dreaded midgies might be fewer, though! Had a little chuckle about the dhal, I've given up being adventurous at the moment, it's too demoralising! At least they eat the boring stuff .

babypowder · 09/07/2007 22:17

Oli, I'm on the east coast, where the midges are fewer. It's so beautiful on the west coast, though. I have friends that are moving that way this summer, so I'm looking forward to spending much more time there.

DD2 wolfed down a mixture of cannelini and butter beans the other night (and her nappy was a sight to behold the next day. Yuk), so I thought we might be onto a winner with pulses. Never mind. Chicken tomorrow night - she's bound to eat that!

jabberwocky · 10/07/2007 00:12

Glad the hippychick is working, oli! I may have to try one.

Ds2 had 2nd prevnar on Thursday and was much crankier this time. Then we all had a mild virus so hard to tell what was from jab and what was virus

Anyway, will read and catch up on thread now

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 10/07/2007 00:26

Accessorize - I have just seen your beautiful boys!

babypowder · 10/07/2007 08:53

Jabber, I'm a bit thick - what is prevnar?

babypowder · 10/07/2007 09:55

I'm sitting here with a clearblue digital PG test, hoping and praying that I'm not pregnant. I just got it into my head that I might be, after having a Nike moment without any protection. I'm just going to sit and whimper for the next 3 minutes .....

babypowder · 10/07/2007 09:57

Its OK - I'm not pregnant. Thank god for that!

babypowder · 10/07/2007 11:24

So, now that I've calmed down

I still haven't had a period since DD2 was born. With DD1 I was on the mini pill straight away, so I didn't have one until she was 3, which was fab! But this time I'm flying by the seat of my pants (so to speak) until I see the family planning consultant at the end of the month.

Anyone else still awaiting their first period?

babypowder · 10/07/2007 11:25

And, you know, I'm OK about talking to myself.

(BP shuffles off, clearly worried about having offended the entire ante-natal group, casuing them to reform elsewhere under assumed names)

babypowder · 10/07/2007 11:49

Oops, Freudian slip.

POST - natal group.

Olihan · 10/07/2007 12:06

Oh BP, bit of a heartstopping moment for you! Flying by the seat of my pants is how I ended up pg with ds2 when dd was only 6mo . This time I had a coil fitted at my 8wk check, dh and I are a bit too fertile to be taking risks - 4 dcs in 4 years would finish me off, I think .

No periods here yet either (and tbh, no nooky either. I just can't face it - pg and now bf seem to have killed my libido stone dead).

GlassSlipper · 10/07/2007 12:17

lol @ bp.

no periods here. no nookie either
