March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

lol-we posted at exactly the same time then!

no knowledge of HP here-tbh i think all the films are a load of old crap myself but ds and dd1 like them.my mum is taking them to see the new one when they are at hers.

muppethasakitten · 19/07/2007 20:18

diva

muppethasakitten · 19/07/2007 20:24

diva - i know what you mean about the films (I have real problems with Daniel Radcliffe for a start) but dd is a HUGE fan. She's same age as your ds1 so I think she'll be fine...

foxcub · 19/07/2007 21:30

Hi everyone - will have a peek at the gorgeous babies in a moment.

Monti os driving me to distraction. He;s very uncomfortable with his teeth and is all clingy and is feeding 2 hourly!!!

I'm so knackered and at the end of my tether. If this doesn't stop by saturday I'll start feeding him solids as he seems to be starving all the time!

foxcub · 19/07/2007 21:39

DD had a walker too and walked at 9 months - I'm sure that was due to her spending months in the walker!

Would love to get one for Monti!! Anyone know where I can get a nice cheapie one?

Love those pics of Elsie and kate - they are so gorgeous. But they seem really feminine compared with Monti - who is a bit of a cavemen by all accounts

kittywits · 19/07/2007 22:06

Hello all sorry not been posting. Hope you're all ok. It's end of term chaos here and my helper is off for a week grrrr.

kiwibella · 19/07/2007 22:09

Last day tomorrow... mixed emotions!! It's my baby's final day ever at primary school. She couldn't care less and is soooo excited about moving on and up to her secondary school.

barefeete · 19/07/2007 22:12

Hey all, just a quick hello to let you know that i do login and keep up with what's going on but today so far no time to chat. DS has 3 teeth (the final ones!) coming through and has had a bad day with it all. Molly is fab though, feeding every 2 hours all day which spooks me a little as i was sure she had a growth spurt last week and the week before. i think tbh that she will just keep feeding more often due to the hot weather. she is really restless also and needs loads of attention to keep her occupied. no proper sleeps also today just cat naps in the car and in the bouncy chair. she is a real madam to get to bed in her cot during the day and if she screams when Ds is having his nap she wakes him up! anyone else having this problem? beside all that she is happy as larry as long as i hold her, biounce her and coo at her all day long!

apart from that itrained all day - by the bucket load and car conked out on a very steep hill which freaked me out as the breaks didn't work either! thank god for handbreaks!

calli - in Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. only been here 3 months, from bristol before that.

Diva - you ok with the other thread?

TransfiguratingLily · 20/07/2007 07:43

Barefeete hope you get the car sorted, scarey.
It poured here yesterday too, very heavy and I had left the buggy out and forgot, so it got soaked.

Hasan loves to be carried about all day. his other front bottom tooth is going to come- the gum is bulging and looks sore. I gave him calpol twice yesterday.

We are all totally into Harry Potter in my rl circle and I've been having great fun with the Harry Potter threads So I'm busting to read the book tomorrow and find out how it all ends.
The first ones were around when ds1 was 8 or 9 and they got him into reading a book by himself which was brilliant.. So now at 15 he'll always have a Terry Pratchet in his pocket or the likes.

muppethasakitten · 20/07/2007 09:02

tranny did your other dcs get their teeth at this time? Mine were much later dd was over 1 year!! and ds1 was around 7 months...

have you reserved your book then???

barefeete I grew up in Bath so know Bristol quite well... bit different to where you are now!!! Samuel always wants to be carried around - he is also rubbish at sleeping in his cot during day - just cat naps in car etc - it's very frustrating isn't it.

kitty - how many sets of games kits will you have to wash?

Morning lovelies

What completely vile weather! I'm feeling quite pleased with myself as I got the pushchair out of the car last night so I'm not trying to get DS into it later on in the day in the driving rain. But I'm getting really fed up with the rain though - it just seems relentless and the long term forecast isn't great.

We had a much better night last night so that's two in a row so I think the growth spurt may have come to an end. I'm going to have to express like mad now though as I haven't got any milk in the freezer.

Elliot is wearing his new trousers today Piffle - he looks very smart! He has four times as many pairs today than he did yesterday thanks to you and kiwibella!

Piffle · 20/07/2007 10:20

Finn got teeth coming through too, bulging gums, put your finger in his mouth at your peril
I gave him a bickie peg yesterday as he was demented with it and how he loved it.

Callie seats thing, umm we have bumbo, have got him one of these too jumperoo as he such a feisty baby. It is arrving over the w/e I think so will report back.

He uses dd's walker but I'm not keen on it yet really...

Well must dash got exps' mum and exp coming to stay this weekend - yes I know I'm nice, the things I do for ds1 I tell you.

divastrop · 20/07/2007 15:41

what weather?it was sunny here this morning.now its cloudy but still very warm.i want to see some decent thunderstorms!

barefeete-the thread is still going on.people who agree with me are coming out of the woodwork.

i had to take dd2 back to the doctors this morning as her eye isnt getting any better, and shes had a temperature.her canines are cutting now,and she couldnt even eat her dinner.bloody teeth.

oh feck...i think children are trying to kill each other in the living room

LunarSea · 20/07/2007 15:59

diva - you're welcome to some of our thunderstorms. It's been bucketing down, windy, and thunder and lightning thrown in for good measure here all day. And forecast is more of the same tomorrow. So we've spent most of the day indoors - again. Which is actually harder work than going out, because Toby keeps wanting to either walk (so I have to lean over and hold his hands) or sit up (except he keeps dropping the toys he's playing with and can't yet retrieve them for himself when they roll away). Still with all that practice he's getting a lot better at the sitting now, hardly any toppling over any more!

muppethasakitten · 20/07/2007 18:13

our road has flooded

new pics on profile

muppethasakitten · 20/07/2007 18:23

just to clarify...

... house NOT flooded! just read post back and thought it might sound like we'd had to evacuate! just the ditch opposite and road which is underwater!

... also pics are of my kids... not the flooded road!

Callieco · 20/07/2007 18:29

Our cat has gone missing. I'm getting very worried as she's been being sick quite often recently, although she seems to be in rude health for all that, but we haven't definitely seen her since the early hours of the morning. It may be that she was out when it was thundering this morning, got scared and has just hunkered down somewhere, but time is ticking on. The fact she hasn't had much to eat is the worrying thing. We live in a terraced house whose garden is surrounded on all sides by other gardens and houses beyond them, so she can't have gone outside that BUT dp did say last night he had the front door open about 4 this am cos there was a fire engine at the end of the road, and it is possible, although unlikely, that she went out and he didn't see, and shut the door while she was still out. She doesn't go out the front as such, only for a quick roll on the pavement then scoots back inside the house, so she will be very distressed if that has happened. We're worried she might have got stuck in a shed or something. She has been away for this long before a couple of times, but it's pushing it now. If she doesn't come back by tomorrow morning, we're going to be frantic.

Sorry for long post but I need to calm myself as am on verge of big tears (period arrived yesterday too - not good timing all around).

DollyPopsOut · 20/07/2007 19:44

Hi girls, no time to read or post properly but just wanted to let you know we are all still alive if a bit wet. Got drenched today and poor DD2 in sling was very wet and cold but we managed to warm her up once home. WIll try to catch up properly over the weekend. Love to all xxxx

divastrop · 20/07/2007 20:17

callie-im sure your cat will come back, like you say,she probably got frightened by the storm and hid somewhere, and maybe is staying there till they have all finished.

(((((hugs))))))

spongecake · 20/07/2007 21:08

callie, sure you are right and she will be back.

the rain here is awful, baby spent all day sleeping and wouldn;t be smiley as he normally is so feel like a bad mother. he just gazed at me when i spoke to him.

spent day packing- so boring- but i do want to move really, just all the stuff we have...

am v v tired today, think might be going to be ill

will now read all posts and catch up!

sazzybee · 20/07/2007 22:33

dolly - nice to hear from you. Was wondering where you were

Callie - I'm sure your cat will come back - my cat has disappeared for hours on end when she's stuck outside in crappy weather. Keep us posted though - I know how worrying it is

Well ds has been grouchy and really sleepy all day long and so I took his temperature this evening and it was 39

It said in the NHS book that I should call my GP so I did but I just have to keep an eye on him and make sure he's still breathing which is a bit scary so I've been checking on him every 20 mins and will bring him into the bed tonight. Poor little lamb. Don't know what the problem is - he doesn't have any other symptoms. So I'm off to bed - suspect I'll be waking up every hour to make sure he's alright

God that weather was terrifying today - it was almost kneedeep down the bottom of the hill

Callieco · 21/07/2007 11:43

Sazzy - hope Elliot is ok .

Well, no sign of the cat by the time we went to bed. DP had gone round the streets nearby calling in case she had gone out the front, and we'd called and shaken cat crunchies box in the garden repeatedly. I kept crying because I couldn't imagine never seeing her in the house again, and DP couldn't get to sleep. Thank god he didn't - he came into the bedroom and woke me up at 2am asking how to open the bonnet on the car (he doesn't drive) as he could hear the cat and thought she was in there!! I went racing down and showed him but he looked and couldn't see her, so shut the bonnet. Then he wandered up the street a bit, and in that time I distinctly heard her cry, and it was definitely coming from the car. We opened the bonnet again, shone a torch in and there crouched at the bottom of the engine was her little face! We couldn't see how to get her out and she wasn't coming herself, so I went in to ring the breakdown people, but as I was waiting to get through she strolled in to the living room covered in dirt but seemingly fine. DP hadn't seen her get out and was still peering over the bonnet at this stage. God I am SO SO relieved. With all the baby drama in the beginning and just looking after him I naturally haven't paid as much attention to her since Jordi came, but it brought it home to me once again how much a part of our lives she is. We are also both thanking our lucky stars that because of the crap weather yesterday we didn't take the car anywhere. Don't know what would have happened to her then, if she would have got out when the engine started or if it would have injured her, or worse.

Another life gone... that's at least four down now. She's 12 now, so hoping the remaining five will see her to at least 18.

Hope all of you in the really badly rain-hit places are ok. Happy summer hols....

Mossy · 21/07/2007 13:31

Afternoon all,

Well, I finally get a chance to log in!

Callie I'm so glad your cat came back, and I know exactly what you mean about ignoring pets then realising how much a part of the family they are. Our pets probably didn't get stroked for the first three weeks of Bertie's life, but now I am back on a daily walk for the dogs and lots of strokes for Ziggy.

Sazzy how is little Elliott today then?

Piffle what is the deal with walkers, why aren't they good? I have one donated for Bertie, what is the reasoning behind not using them?

Lily pmsl at the Dalek song! Bet you won't be on here today, too busy reading Harry Potter I'll guess!

Barefeete, Bertie is similar, will only cat nap and is happy as long as he's entertained. I just entertain him, but then again I have no other dc's to entertain. Unless you count dh.

Muppet your piccies are lovely, can't believe the size of him! I did think I was going to get photos of your flooded road though!

Everyone else hope you're all well.

Had a bit of a trauma yesterday; I fell over shopping... whilst Bertie was in the sling. Oh god I was absolutely terrified. I hit the ground as did his head, and he screamed, my friend who I was with was scared too.

He had a bump on the back of his head, and wouldn't stop crying until I put him on the boob. Tell you what, wish adults had an equivalent of breastmilk, works far better than ibruprofen as a painkiller. (I suppose we do, called wine, isn't it?) He calmed immediately but I was still in shock, my friend drove us home and then dh took us to the walk in centre...

... where he laughed and cooed and did little cries and the nurses there said he was fine ... and only then did I realise my leg was covered in blood (mine) and I couldn't walk on my right foot and a huge purple bruise was coming up.

So Bertie is well, and I am limping around! Ah well, that's the right way round at least!!

Still before it kicked off I managed to get two lovely floaty tops, a pair of purple pumps and a swimming cossie (gonna take Bertie swimming on Wednesday).

Mossy · 21/07/2007 13:32

Oh a few more photos on www.flickr.com/photos/msruthmoss. Although I haven't uploaded one of him in a bear suit yet. It has a hood. With ears. I'll let you know when it's there.
