March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

Hi Mossy - glad to hear things are better with your DH.

Hi Kiwi - we had a bit of sunburn here too unfortunately. We were on the coast and missed London's protective layer of smog

TransfiguratingLily · 16/07/2007 08:48

Callie, it is very worrying about your mums cousin hopefully she can be treated (even though that won't be fun) but hopefully recover from this.

Piffle, I hope things fall into place and you get a clear idea of what's right for you and your family that you are happy with. A trial period sounds like a good idea.

Mossy, I'm glad things have improved in your house. When you send the letter it'll be one weight off your mind and hopefully the response will not be as stressfull as you fear.

The fear and dread of a thing is often worse than the actual thing. (eloquent thought for the day)

One of my friends whompingwillowinthedewmeadow had her baby girl on saturday, so I've been over on the July thread and it gave me butterflies reading what they are going through at the moment!

Need to try and visit her and baby asap. Can't go too close or have a cuddle with this cold though.

DollyPopsOut · 16/07/2007 10:54

Big hugs to Callie and Rosy. Hope you are both OK.

Glad the chat went well mossy .

Piffle, sounds like you have reached a solution of sorts. Hope it works out.

Hello the blonde, hope you are OK>

Welcome barefeet and missis.

Hello everyone else, hope you are all well

AM a bit pants today. DD1 being a pain at night and so am knackered. DD2 being gorgeous as per.

Am going to have a bath and then go out. Need to clear my head a bit. Will have to be a quick one though as should be motoring shortly. Where does the time go?

LunarSea · 16/07/2007 11:19

Piffle - at least with Luton you only have to live a few miles north of there to be in Bucks which is a grammar school area still. You shouldn't have too many problems transferring if ds1 is already in a grammar and doing well at it. As my office is closing I'll back to being in the Milton Keynes office once or twice a week once I'm back at work - not a million miles from Luton if you do end up moving and want a meetup!

Callie - hopefully they've caught it early enough and it hasn't spread. I've known people who've had to have parts of lungs removed, and managed to carry on living active lives afterwards, so there IS hope.

Mossy - sounds like things are on the up for you. It can't be easy if you don't drive, and don't know many other very local mums with babies. It would drive me mad if I couldn't get out and about.

Barefeete - still doing night feedds here too, but as I'm co-sleeping and can feed lying down I hardly even notice that we're doing them. In fact I suspect that sometimes I don't notice - there have been a couple of times when he might have slept through, or he might have just latched himself on and helped himself without waking me.

Rosy - thinking of you. I'd get down there and see what the situation is for myself I think. Could you call the hospital and ask to speak to his doctors? Explain that you're his wife and that he's said he doesn't want you rushing down, but that you need to know if he's saying that to try to gloss over how serious it might be and they might tell you a bit more.

Jay - can't believe you're having another one so soon. 3 under 2! You're braver than I am.

Everyone else I've forgotten - hi!

divastrop · 16/07/2007 11:35

hi all.

welcome barefeete

callie- about your auntie,i hope she can get through it.my nan beat lung cancer once and was clear for a few months, and that was at the age of 82.i think when it came back she had decided it was 'time' iyswim.

mossy/sponge-i was having paranoia issues at the wkend and was getting to the stage where i thought dp was going to call it off.he had a rant at me but that was all.i posted about it all in relationships again and got the perspective i needed.

my internet went down last nightdp was climbing the walls and i wasnt too good either!

rosy-it sounds like what your dh has gone through has made you realise how much you love him.it's sad that he wont go on holiday with you.i dont know how you manage to be so reasonable all the time, have you always been like it?

i have to go and see my councellor now so i can go round and round and round in f*ing circles and never get anywhere and still be an insecure paranoid freak at the end of it all.

muppethasakitten · 16/07/2007 12:25

hugs to u callie

no time to post - will b back later

kittywits · 16/07/2007 14:41

Gosh, a lot to catch up on

Piffle, a tough call. sounds like you are finding a way through though

Callie, sorry about your Auntie

Hello barefeete and missis

Hello to everyone else

Piffle · 16/07/2007 14:57

Sazzy am posting some bits off to you this afternoon

Mossy glad things with dh are patching up.

Shocking mum alert
Got dd's babywalker down yesterday asn Finn will not pay down anywhere except to sleep he is upright baby my arms are dropping off so I got the BW down for him to sit in while I made dd's lunch, thinking 4 minutes won't hurt him

the little sod was off, whizzing round like he was born to it and howled when I took him out.

he is 17 wks this week fgs...

slow down little man PLEASE
ps disclaimer dd only had a BW as she ahd weight bearing issues due to hypotonia **

sazzybee · 16/07/2007 17:56

ooh thanks piffle - that's great. Sounds like you've reached a reasonable solution for now. I guess all you can do is suck it and see (sorry I hate that expression but my teeny brain is too knackered to come up with another one).

welcome missis and barefoote

callie - sorry about your aunt. Cancer is such a bugger

Elliot is still in the throes of this growth spurt but I think he's coming through it. I really hope so - I was getting used to having a better night's sleep!

Hello everyone else. We've got grizzles here so I better sort them out before they turn into tears!

DollyPopsOut · 16/07/2007 20:49

DD2 feeding for britain. We went out today and she was super good whilst out but had to feed her on train home and haven't really stopped since.

DD1 came home from nursery with pink hair. She looks like Quentin Crisp in the Naked civil servant. Am going to have to wash it now which is a bugger as she HATES it and cries all the time. Let's hope the nappy stays on overnight and she stays asleep.... Am weary after the last few and need an unbroken night.

See you later XXXX

barefeete · 16/07/2007 22:23

All's well here. DS ate some pasta sauce (no pasta but a few miniscules of the sauce !) so that is a celebratery moment for me. No meat since he ate a sausage in April so the tuna in the sauce was fab!

Molls had a sleep in her cot today and then even slept this afternoon for at least an hour - and what did i do? washing, ironing, cleaning, cooking - NO MN for about 45 mins and faffed for the rest!!!!!

Went for a gorgeous walk along the beach, Sam ran the whole way and Molls slept in the buggy with the shadabuggy thing which is my new amazing accessory.

Found bananas in the supermarket which mad me so so happy as we haven't had then on the island for a week and all Sam says is Nana nana nana or cak (cake!). Also no organic eggs so had to buy the shitty florida battery farm eggs as i can't cope with the amount of times Sam says "cak" to me and i have to say "we don't have cake sam would you like some raisons?" "no" Cak"! So now off to make banana cak! Hope we don't all have the runs for the next week from the duff eggs. They look bizzare and the purest of white i have ever seen on an egg.
sorry this is all abit rambolly and full of mistakes but Molls is growing a tad wingy and needs TLC and have to go and chase Sam around the varanda to get rid of some of his energy before bed. i am desperate to say hi. hope all is well. you lot probably in bed now but hope all is well.

muppethasakitten · 17/07/2007 10:28

walking along the beach sounds great barefeete - we are having rain, rain and more rain here

piff - Finn will be crawling b4 u know it and then imagine the fun you'll have!!!

still waiting for my bumbo to arrive...grrr

painter in kitchen now - worst room in house to have out of action but will be nice to get it done.

dd breaks up for hols today... she is gloating big time at ds1 who still has 2 days... then it's 6 weeks of lie-ins! Hooray!

muppethasakitten · 17/07/2007 10:28

what am i saying... i have a 4 month old

kiwibella · 17/07/2007 10:56

I know Muppet - I feel the same thinking about the impending hols. Luckily MissE will be on a G&T course for the next two weeks which will see us out of bed and active.

Kate had her last set of jabs this morning... she screamed the place down after the first one. She was also due a feed so I asked to feed her which helped some. Poor mite.

A second friend announced her pregnancy today!!! The first did on the weekend. All these babies are so exciting. Just wish it was me .

sazzybee · 17/07/2007 11:00

Lie-ins heh! You wish

Actually we did lie in until 9.30 today but only because we were up a lot in the night so I don't think that counts. I think I've finally got the hang of feeding lying down. A bit late in the day.

I'm going to my first pushy mothers class today - exercising with the pushchair. I hope Elliot doesn't start crying. At least he did a huge poo yesterday so not much change of a nappy disaster today

Anyone seen foxcub about lately? Is it my imagination or has she not posted for a while?

Piffle · 17/07/2007 11:00

kiwi how old is your dd?
We got the info for the G+T stuff for ds1 AFTER it has closed for the 2nd yr in a bloody row.

Well my back is finally BETTER! My handsome osteo has done the job, I still ahve trapped nerves in my leg but I am properly mobile again. He would be worth running off with methinks! So I have cleaned my hosue from top to bottom, something I have not been able to do for 18 mths.

Yeah I know

Anyway must grab washing in!!!!!! thunderstorms pending!

muppethasakitten · 17/07/2007 11:42

wot is a G&T course?... does it involve learning how to make the perfect pre-dinner drink?

Mossy · 17/07/2007 12:32

Hi all, Bertie been grizzly all day, I wonder if he somehow knows he's having his second set of jabs in just under an hour? So only a quick hi and bye... I haven't even had chance to have brekkie yet so I'm going to get the toast on while he's asleep because it may last only a few minutes!!

Mossy · 17/07/2007 12:33

Forgot to say, I got some great news yesterday, well, tempered with a few thoughts. Got tax credit award back and it's loads more than we thought; we can afford for me to not have to look for a job until at least January, possibly even longer! Now I just have to overcome dh's wanting me to be the perfect 1950's wife, because if I can't, I may end up wanting to go back to paid work sooner.

divastrop · 17/07/2007 13:29

muppet-thats what i was thinkingstrange thing to teach children

mind you i seem to be having a lot of 'blonde' moments lately, like the other night when the internet was down and i thought 'oh no i wont be able to do the washing'

i must be starting to get back to my normal self.

sazzy- i was wondering about foxy, she normally posts every day.

dd2 has conjunctivitis, poor thing.she's still all cute and happy though, and said 'princess' earlier.probably because she thinks her name is princess Gloria.

ds2 is going in for his grommets tomorrowi'm getting worried now.

Piffle · 17/07/2007 13:43

mossy make sure the tax credits are right though, or end up like tons and having to pay them bakc and deep in financial shite.
They frequently overpay, so just make sure they are right. Sorry to piddle on ya parade but if they are right that's great news!

kittywits · 17/07/2007 13:43

I wonder where Foxy is too? Hope she's ok. Maybe it's just the end of term mayhem, it's certainly like that here with everyone exhausted.

That's excellent news about the money Mossy, hoorah. Are you going to treat yourself to anything?

I'm going to give Ronnie a taste of 'food' this evening. I reckon he's ready. He's displying all the signs. It SO improved my life when I did this with dd2 at 14 weeks. She became much better tempered and slept much better pretty much straight away. After 14 weeks of non stop crying and griping I've about had enough now.

Hope I'll be able to post more once the hols have started.
This thread has fgone pretty quiet anyway hasn't it?

Mossy · 17/07/2007 14:21

G&T is gifted and talented I think?

When I was at school if you were reasonably clever you just sat at the back and put your head down and volunteered to be a library monitor at break time so the other kids didn't beat you up. I think it is better for bright kids nowadays, they have this thing called gifted and talented where if they're good at a subject you can take extra lessons in it and the like.

Kitty I hope Ronnie gets better with a bit of "food" for you. It is horrible, horrible the constant crying, it wears you down.

I am going to be really good and put the money in savings so that when my SMP runs out in September I have extra.

Piffle I had heard that about the overpayments, but I have checked, it seems to be right. Then again I am a bit hopeless with money so I will check again!!

Diva I hope everything goes okay tomorrow tih the grommets. Good luck.

Bertie's injections went suprisingly okay... then he has his third lot in four weeks and then that's it for a while, thank goodness!

Right I have a friend coming over, better tidy up and find somewhere to "store" the dogs, she is allergic poor woman!!

kiwibella · 17/07/2007 14:24

making a good g&t is one of the first life-skills to teach . In this case, it is a gifted and talented programme which is being run by the local borough. MissE is so excited - the theme is "Problem Solver" and they will learn how to break codes and be involved in making a film. They will also visit Cambridge University and the Tower of London.

Congrats on the wee windfall Mossy!

Enjoy your work-out Sazzy... sounds like fun.

Hope everyone is having a fab day.

kiwibella · 17/07/2007 14:26

Mossy - not only gifted children are extended but also children with an exceptional talent (sport, music, art) are encouraged.

I agree that there is so much on offer here for kids... if they want it!! I have loved working in the UK education system and had so many opportunities which I would never have dreamt of at home.
