March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

tranny - no advice but just wanted to say how sorry I am that things are tough for you at the moment. I am not sure what I would do.

mossy - I have now written myself a list as I seem to be feeling a little overwhelmed when looking around the house - we started renovating and then I got pregnant so have half painted room and floors that need another sand and varnish, etc. So I decided to write a list of things I could realistically get done when dd2 and 3 are asleep middle of the day. CLean oven was one - it had gotten so bad, I was too embarrassed to let student nanny see in. So cleaned that yesterday. How sad cause I felt a real sense of achievement that I had cleaned it.

sazzy - I've got too many cardigans etc in 3-6 because ds1 was in that size over the winter. What do actually need? I could probably sort out a few for you if you like. Ditto long trousers/long sleeved tops - we've probably got more than we really need, and wouldn't miss a few. They'll only end up going to Ebay or NCT sale eventually anyway and being sold for pence.

Piffle - Ooh, Monsoon sale Must admit I do like some of their boy's things. I'm permanently watching Ebay for one or two particular pieces to come up for the boy.

Mossy · 12/07/2007 08:26

Get you lot with your 3-6 month clothes! Bertie's like Kiwi's Kate, he is still quite happily in 0-3 month stuff. I used to worry about him being such a titch but now I'm just pleased I don't have to fork out for more clothes just yet!!

He is happily sitting on his bouncer sucking his thumb at the same time as eating his bib, and making some funny cooing noises. I have to watch out as sometimes those noises get a bit more kerfuffle-y!

Sazzy you have to listen to the CDs on headphones I think to get the "surround sound" effect. Whenever I've listened, I have fallen asleep, so perhaps driving might not be such a great idea!!

Eids, it's awful isn't it? I too was made up when the oven was finally cleaned, I had spoken to tax credits and washed the nappies! Today my little "mission" is to bleach down the yard... hasn't been done for ages because it's been raining, but yesterday it was sunny so it needs to be done.

Muppet I have learned to avoid pet threads like the plague. It tends to go like this:

  • Why do people let their dogs jump on children / poo on the pavement?
  • I don't know I'm a dog owner and I don't.
  • Actually I don't think dogs should be allowed out in public at all.
  • Well, now you are being unreasonable.
  • And what about cats? They poo in people's gardens? Shouldn't be allowed outside imo.
  • That's not very fair!
  • Yes whenever I see a cat in my garden I shoot it with an air rifle! You cruel B&{}&d! I had a cat shot by an air rifle once when I was a kid and it was horrible I cried for a week!

(You get the picture).

Piffle I love monsoon stuff, but for myself! I didn't even know they did baby clothes! You shouldn't have told me!

Morning to every one else, I am off to have a nice coffee before Bertie's coos turn to something less cute!!

LunarSea · 12/07/2007 09:35

Mossy - Toby's not really in 3-6 yet either - they're all too big around the waist for him and fall down when he's wriggling around! He has been wearing some of the 3-6 tops though, so I've got both sets out at the moment and am mixing and matching 0-3 trousers and 3-6 tops.

kiwibella · 12/07/2007 10:20

I'm watching a couple of things on ebay.... you really have to sift through the listings though, don't you?

I've just seen that my favourite store pumpkin patch starts their sale today... yay!!!

muppethasakitten · 12/07/2007 10:32

Kiwi - I love buying little girl's clothes... can't get that excited about little boys stuff... hence Samuel is wearing mostly ds1's stuff that I held onto or stuff donated to me from mates. He is in 6-12 month stuff as he is so fat

Mossy - brilliant synopsis of a pet thread - you've basically summed the whole thing up . It IS annoying when people leave dogs to run amock and poo everywhere I understand that - and that's why I'm always so careful not to be a pet owner like that. But some of those comments on there like "dogs shouldn't be allowed in cities", "all dogs should be put down" ... I am incredulous at some people's nazi-ish views! Will stay away from dog threads from now on.

Have decided to keep my name... but beware of muppetgirl... she is NOT ME!

muppethasakitten · 12/07/2007 10:33

boden have got an online sale on too

TransfiguratingLily · 12/07/2007 10:38

I've got loads of clothes for Hasan, so can't justify buying any, but monsoon, lovely. Could be tempted to get an outfit for the children in there for my sisters wedding if there's a sale...

I'm planning to drive down south on sunday when ds1 comes back from Donegal. I would need his help. Just go for a couple of days and drive back.

Mossy · 12/07/2007 10:46

Right until I joined MN I was not even aware of this Boden clothing; I thought Boden was a place in Cheshire. So I am going to finally have to go and have a look at the web site.

Have just bought three nappy wraps ... from amazon of all places! yes they have started selling baby stuff! Oh it's dangerous; they have my switch-card details so all I have to do is click a button and someone brings nappy wraps to my house; just wrong isn't it!?

Lily I hope it all goes well when you see your dh on Sunday. I'm sure it will, and I'm sure that even if he doesn't want you there, he needs you there, iyswim.

Muppet, yes me too. I try to be responsible but some people won't be happy until pets are banished from the planet! Although I do get slightly when people say "and another thing about dog owners is their houses are covered in hair and smell of wet animal". Well, okay, that is true!

Lunar I'm not surprised your little Toby is still in some 0-3 stuff he is using all his energy to do all that clever stuff instead of having massive growth spurts!!

Kiwi that pumpkin patch stuff looks too cute, I'd better keep away!

Anyway, I now have to change this baby, got some free Bambino Mio stuff yesterday off a freecycler so am going to try it out!

kiwibella · 12/07/2007 11:07

me too Mossy... so I'll have to take a look at the Boden site just so I know what it is .

Good for you Lily - I think that it will be peace of mind to be there and see what is happening for yourself. Family is the best remedy for your hubs too!

Piffle · 12/07/2007 11:44

mossy don't go to Boden it drains your family of much money dd has tons - well she does grow very slowly and it resells on ebay for so much it's practically FREE - or look on ebay for it of course.

try this for the new babies range Have pre ordered Finn a shedload. that link gives you 20% off too at checkout I think.

sazzybee · 12/07/2007 11:49

piffle/lunarsea - aren't you kind? I'd love some more trousers and a cardi or two if you can be arsed to send them to me. I can give you some money for them (and for postage). It's really ridiculous that you can't buy anything warm. I've got some trousers from my sister (2 pairs) but no cardies weirdly.

Well elliot is definitely having a growth spurt - woke up 3 times in the night and is feeding, sleeping or grumpy today. And I look like I have had 2 hours sleep

Mossy - you do know that Elliot is a month older than Bertie? And it really varies by make as well. Tesco clothes are much smaller than expensive brands Elliot is fat because he doesn't do anything - he just sits there like a little fat buddha!

You're right about those pet threads - they wind me up. I end up sounding like I don't like dogs which I do but some people are so black and white - dogs are great, people are horrid! It's all a bit silly. They are a vortex - much like the mother and baby parking threads. You get sucked in and it's never very nice.

I wish you hadn't said that about Amazon. I swore I was only ever going to buy books or music. Once you start expanding it's just too easy with their one click ordering!

divastrop · 12/07/2007 12:29

mossy/bella-same here re boden!i'd never heard of it.i cant afford to hear of it either, although i will need to get Elsie something for the wedding....

muppet-Elsie will oficially be in 6-9 month clothes as soon as i find themas she is quite squidgey too(am not ever going to use the word fat when talking about one of my dds,i have ishoooos)

she keeps crying when i put her in the double buggy now,as there isn't much room for her and she gets squashed.i am getting a 'bendy bus' from a playground mum later, she got it for her two and they didnt like it so she only used it twice, and only wants £20 for it,so it will do till i win the lottery and can afford a phil+teds or something.

hello everybody else

kiwibella · 12/07/2007 12:55

I have just wasted the morning on this silly machine - I can hear Kate stirring, damn! I ordered a Boden catalogue... the knitwear is gorgeous. I have also ordered more scrapbooking supplies for these cards I am supposed to have time to make . I have drawers full of paper and bits and bobs but I never get around to finishing anything. I still have Kate's birth announcements which turned into thank you cards on the go. Grrrrr.

My hubs really can say, what did you do today???

kiwibella · 12/07/2007 12:57

I do think these are clever - and wonder which piccie of my girls could be patchworked!!

kittywits · 12/07/2007 14:07

Kiwiw I love doing arty stuff like that but nver get the time anymore

Mossy, boden stuff is nice BUT terribly expensive and really shit quality, especially the adult stuff. It doesn't wash and looks shabby very quickly.
However, it's extremely popular just because...... it is, people seem to think they've got something worth having. But it's true that it sells for a fortune on ebay, crazy!!!

Mossy · 12/07/2007 14:21

Well, in that case I will stick to the Asda, with the occasional visit to Tesco if I'm feeling flush!

I have to say, twenty two quid for two baby sleep suits for that price I would want them to work a magic sleep spell on Bertie the moment he was in them!!

TransfiguratingLily · 12/07/2007 14:23

vertbaudet rules okay

Piffle · 12/07/2007 14:29

I disagree re Boden stuff being shit quality tbh
I've got 2 t shirts that have lasted 4 yrs and still look as good as new, all others from Dotty P and M+S mishape badly and fade.
also have some trousers which I love and a skirt - all of dd's and ds1's stuff has washed superbly, I never tumble dry though.
but the sizing on the adults clothes is well dodgy, short tops, long arms and small chests (not for me then LOL)

Well Finn had his jabs today, he smiled before during and after, nurse was amazed, only one small cry and one little tear before he was back to happy self. He is a super little chappie.

Sazzy have emailed you for your address

kittywits · 12/07/2007 14:50

Piffle maybe I've had bad luck or you good luck. I've friends who love to buy Boden but are disappointed with how it wears. I like the patterns and materials though.

Piffle · 12/07/2007 14:55

my stuff is all dead plain maybe thats the ticket then...

kiwibella · 12/07/2007 15:12

I have tidied out Kate's drawers and have a couple of blue items which I bought in the Christmas sales - when I didn't know what I was expecting! Kate will never wear them if someone wants them (Sazzy??)... I should have taken notice of the sales lady at Marks who said, "oh, you know you're having a boy then"!?!

Email me bella at tikitour dot net. I'm going to the post office in the morning with some other bits and pieces so more than happy to pass them on.

Piffle · 12/07/2007 15:14

tikitour

kiwi parlance

kiwibella · 12/07/2007 15:20

What was meant to be a "tikitour" has become more long term... sheez we're going through the paperwork for indefinate leave to remain. Hubs will have us applying for passports next .

shanks313 · 12/07/2007 16:11
