March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

Yes around this time last year I was screaming in my sisters bathroom at two blue lines. Couldn't believe it and didn't know if I could cope.
One horrible pregnancy relieved only by you lot and one easy baby later, here I am with a very happy mistake slobbering all over me

muppethasakitten · 12/07/2007 20:11

Yep - me too - found out on 2nd july - b4 period even due...

...I look forward to having a summer this year as spent from now until september with my head down a toilet last year.

sazzybee · 12/07/2007 20:15

I found out on July 3rd. It was the first day I could do a test. Was amazing! I found the sticks today (is that gross? keeping them?) and remember how much I was shaking. I had to do two to make sure. I bet everyone does at least 2 tests don't they?

Thanks so much for clothing offers people - I will be emailing you now. You're all v kind

I have to do some ironing tonight - I borrowed a moses basket from a friend and her mum had made flouncy skirts for it with about a million ties. I can't remember the last time I ironed anything! Must try not to burn stuff ...

DollyPopsOut · 12/07/2007 20:27

Feeling very emotional with all this talk of pg tests and thinking back to last year! I found out on 18th July when I was 4 days late (as had been late before and nothing). A friend was over and asked if I had tested and I said I hadn't. She frogmarched me upstairs and waited whilst I did the wee, and we both jumped up and down like loons when it went pink. I wanted to call DH but he was on deadline and then out on the beers so I had to wait until 11.30 when he rolled home to share the news. I was SOOOO excited.

Muppet, I too spent all of Aug and most of Sept with my head down the loo. Very demoralising but also very worth it.

I'm with you Piffle in the Boden lovers camp. I have always found their clothing to be really good quality and washes well etc. Agree that the sizing can be a bit random but I save up the free returns things and just wang it back if it's not right. I am fully expecting all of DD1's stuff to do DD2 as well. I bought quite a bit of it from Ebay and it still looks great. Love Monsoon stuff too but find it comes up small (or perhaps my kids are just large?!) Most of their day to day stuff like babygros, tops, jeans etc is Tesco. Shudder to think about the conditions in which they are made though as it can't be pretty if you can sell 5 vests for £2 and still make a profit....

How are you today Rosy? Hope DH is feeling a bit better.

Hello everyone else! hope all are well .

divastrop · 12/07/2007 20:29

i cant even remember when i found out i was expecting Elsiebut i know my LMP was june 9th so it must have been around a year ago.i did 7 tests in the end(2 negative,3 'is that a line?i'm not sure',1 'yep, thats a line'and another a week later after the nurse from the EPU told me over the phone i'd probably had a MC)

mossy-22 quid for two babygros.i got the 3 for £3.75 ones out of asda when i was pregnant.

my nearest monsoon is in Kendal.and adams closed down a few weeks ago and is now shoe express.why there isnt a mothercare or primark in this town is beyond me.maybe they dont know it exists.

divastrop · 12/07/2007 20:34

dolly-is boden some sort of 'fairtrade' clothing then?me working class,me no understand

i never even considered the fact that clothes in asda and tesco would be produced in nasty conditions.

foxcub · 12/07/2007 20:43

Wow - yes I remember my test too!! I had been trying for 6 months and had sadly miscarried and had decided to lose weight and bought a trampoline. ASfter several weks of bouncing, running and walking discovered I was PG!!! Gave me a brill excuse to stop excercising

Now kitty my dear, I never thought we'd have a serious disagreement but I have to disagree with you regarding Boden

I think their clothes wash very well - I've got stuff I've had for years and can still wear. My only criticisms are:

T shirts shrink - always, always always and invariably end up too short
Their shaped tops assume you are completely flat chested

I love the way their stuff seems to fit into any setting and have to admit to being a bit of a Boden Queen

I am in the dubious position of working 10 minutes away from their shop too

foxcub · 12/07/2007 20:44

Piffle I bought DD stuff from Monsoon sale 2 years ago and she's still wearing them. I think Monsoon clothes are beautiful

foxcub · 12/07/2007 20:47

Sponge/Diva - R U watching that getting ready for the wedding programme?

I thought of you both when I saw it

kittywits · 12/07/2007 20:53

The thing is with Boden, I do like their clothes and I guess I like the image they sell, but they are hideously over- priced for the quality of clothes.
Foxy If I lived round the corner from a Boden shop it would be the end of me .
I can't remember finding out I was preg with Ronnie but I remember my lmp being the 15th or17th June. I do remember thinking "oh bollocks" though

Piffle · 12/07/2007 20:57

lunar the online sale at Monsoon is going for childrens anyway

Foxy thank God I live no where near any shops...

I am also a Boden queen infact when dd started preschool she had nothing I could bear to get paint on so had to diversify
Am a lot more reasonable now

Anyway enough of clothes - when will this bloody growth spurt end huh? Hrly feeding today and still going, am hoping beyond hoping he puts a lid on it very soon...

kiwibella · 12/07/2007 21:34

The wedding show has been on here and I bawled several times throughout it. What a lovely thing for the families to do but, if it were me, I would have been frustrated by everyone else making the decisions. You would have to be soooooo trusting.

Sazzy - we still have Kate's pg test! There is a piccie of it on our website too. We didn't find out until the summer - I remember my mum was over and I thought I might be seriously ill so I waited until she had gone home to see the doctor (she need any excuse to stay longer)!!! It was completely unexpected, especially after years of seriously trying.

I have had one pg test already which was negative

kiwibella · 12/07/2007 21:36

(mum didn't need any excuse to stay longer)

Callieco · 12/07/2007 21:54

As promise, link to the post-match analysis after Jordi's first feed. If you fancy a laugh, check this out - my son obviously has natural comic timing...

I found out I was pregnant on July 8 (with a hangover ). Yes Sazzy, I did two tests, I still have the sticks somewhere and I also have pictures of the result on my phone - I had waited a long, long time for it! Jordi was born exactly six months after my test (Jan 8) but should have been born on March 8, so that number is obviously very significant for me.

I went along to a baby stuff shop earlier as I still had a £20 voucher a friend had got me for Jordi, so after about 1.5hours wandering in a daze around the shop, I eventually got a grobag. It's a 2.5tog and I'm a bit worried it might be too warm - he's wearing a babygro. It's not very warm out but my room is warmish. I've left the window open, and it does cool down overnight. I didn't think it was worth getting a lower tog one at those prices (£25!!).

TransfiguratingLily · 12/07/2007 22:01

That was lovely Callie

foxcub · 12/07/2007 22:05

Callie - he is so, so cute - I feel like giving him a big hug

DollyPopsOut · 12/07/2007 22:24

Callie, that's great. Jordi is SUCH a cutie. Very entertaining.

Diva, I think Mr Boden just makes more profit per item that Mr Tesco, rather than being better to his workers. Fairtrade he aint.

sazzybee · 12/07/2007 22:36

Aww Callie - he's so cute! That made me LOL

I have just finished ironing acres of green gingham - phew.

muppethasakitten · 13/07/2007 08:06

great link callie!

DD and DS1 both off with sore throats today - hope Samuel doesn't catch it...

...and where oh where is the sunshine???

Piffle · 13/07/2007 08:47

great vid Callie! Fabulous!

Actually A lot of Boden clothes are made in Europe and the developed world which does bump up costs and increases ethical issues re wages and conditions but I'm still sure he is not 100% squeaky clean.

Anyway I'm lusting after that bloody blueberry and blackcurrant pudding in the M+S ad, am off to seek today

Oh anyone else re clothes, Next online have gorgeous soft organic things for £6 a pair! Damned good value and nice stuff.

Jaysthird · 13/07/2007 09:27

kittywits · 13/07/2007 09:34

Jaysthird · 13/07/2007 09:38
